*Tavin turned away from Cora*
I didn't mean for this to happen...... I...

:::She sank to her knees eventually... it was bitter sweet. She'd wished for so long that the brink could be her home, and now she had it. She was the brink's ever present gaurdian, it's lonely soldier....and this, this was something she could understand. Relative to the other things going through her mind, this was easy to set aside. Cora had to know...:::
Are they safe? Are they alive? What has happened to them? What has happened to their bodies? And their souls...?

Have you ever dreamed, Cora?

In a dream, anything can happen. Anything at all. But when you wake up, everything is back to how it is. But imagine that if you dreamt something, and woke up to find it was true. Imagine if dreaming something could make it real. Imagine that you dreamt that your hair was green. That it had always been green. You wake up and it is. To everyone else in the world, this wouldn't be a surprise. To them, your hair would always have been green, because your dream made it so. Even if YOU know that as of yesterday, it wasn't. That is a similar principal to here. Your reality has merged with another. They fused together. So all the people you know don't believe that anything has changed. To them its always been that way. They can't think of another possibility, because to them, it never even existed. And from that moment forth, it doesn't exist. It hasn't died, it has simply continued on as something else.
*Tavin shook his head*
That.. That's really the best way I can explain it....

They don't even know anything even happened, really. to them the next day was just another day. That's what it all amounts to.

:::And so Cora finally sank the rest of the way down to the floor, overwhelmed... indeed she'd gotten her answer, and it wasn't the most unbearable one she could imagine... but it certainly did raise many more. What did this mean for her? Who was she now, she wondered. Where in all of reality did she belong but where she was right then? These were the first three questions out of about a hundred or so that followed, and it was all a bit much:::
:::She lay there a moment, just crying for a while, not knowing what else to do:::

I'll never see my father, or my ancestors ever again... they don't even know I'm gone...
:::She whimped as she tried to sit up...:::
:::Trying to wipe her eyes now...::: But...they hadn't noticed I was gone for 5 years now, since I left them to join the force... Now though... they'll really never know...
:::Cora managed to sit all the way up, so that she was back in the position she'd occupied before falling all the way to the floor. But she didn't turn around to look at him while she spoke:::
So what now, Captain? Where do I belong... why do I even exist?

:::Her shoulders sank, as even the Captain himself could not show her the way. But there were more questiosns still:::
If you didn't.... do what you did. I still don't understand what, but... if you had just left things like they were. What would have happened to me...?

You were caught and institutionalized. They broke your mind. They brainwashed you and turned you into a.... kind of assassin. They called you Mercy 7. You had all of your personality stripped from you, like you were a machine......
*Tavin shuddered*
I'll never forget how aweful it was...

A what...??
:::She finally turned around to look at him, but just turning her back. She didn't feel like getting up just yet:::
That's unbelievable, Captain! No such thing exists in my time. Those who are institutionalized and who cannot be rehabilitated are processed and disposed of. They are not turned into anything but left over biomaterial. And I wasn't!! I'm right, here and as I recall, I'd been a participating citizen for all that time.
:::She argued:::

Cora, I saw it with my own eyes. I witnessed it. That's why I had to do everything possible to try and rescue you from that future.
