Eh, I'm not ready to go with that just yet. All shinigami were once human. I'm pretty sure they're all just human souls that had spiritual power and as such received training to master that power for good. Why the hell would Aizen waste all this effort for someone who is really just a run of the mill shinigami? It just doesn't make sense. Either that or Kubo forgot some of the minor details of his own universe which is quite possible.
