"That's good," Lin replied back, "Because things would be boring without surprises."
As long as they were the good kind of course, not the bad icky kinds that made Daddy all grumpy.

Elrohir was inclined to disagree. Even when he knew what things were going on, what was going to happen, and who would be showing up on their doorstep, things were rarely boring. Of course, he knew there were others who would have agreed with Lin, but that didn't change things for him.
"And what do you think you'll be doing today?" he asked her, changing the subject slightly. "Until Earendil comes down, I mean."

"Hmm..." Lin paused from her eating for a moment to think about that.
There were several choices open to her.
"Well, I could go and follow Sir Valdemar," she ventured, "Maybe I can do more brush characters, but I normally do that in class, or maybe I can go and play with Earendil's Mommy.... or I could just explore and see who I run into."
The last one made her grin becaus she liked running into people, besides she hadn't really talked to Earendil's Daddy, though she had seen him a few times... kind of.

"You might want to be careful who you run into," Elrohir cautioned her. "There are those who don't speak your language, and there are others who ... may prove dangerous."
He didn't want to scare her, but it was true. There had been some incidents with the dwarfs lately, though he wasn't quite sure why.
"Just ... be careful, okay?"

"I'll be careful!" Lin looked up at him with a smile.
Of course Lin, for all her attempts at glaring, her obsession with training and the like, did not have his worldly experience, and was a lot like Kara. She liked to believe the best in people, so she could not understand what sort of dangers waited for her, or could.
One could only hope she also had her mother's really strange luck.

"Anyways," Elrohir sighed, pushing his hair back and standing, "I should get going and find Nako ... do you want to wait here for osmeone, or go wandering? Or do you want to come with me?"
He had to wonder though if she would be all right on her own.

"I can go wander after I finish eating," Lin replied before she finished munching on her food.
She really liked eating this way, it was much better, though she thought eating fruit like graps were fun too at this size.

"All right, then," Elrohir smiled. "Perhaps I'll see you later, then."
He bowed his head at her, then turned and strode out of the Dining Hall.

Lin finished off her breakfast as she looked over the table's edge at the chair in order to get down, but the chair was also higher up, far higher than normal. Ah well, she could deal, she thought as she went closer to the edge to jump down on to the chair.
She still wasn't that good at landing on her feet, but she didn't notice, so she banged up her knees a bit, she tended to do that everyday back home as well. She used the chair legs like a firepole (even if they were sqare she would do that) and shimmied down one leg to get onto the floor.

Luthien and Ruel were just on their way into the Dining Hall at that moment, and Luthien broke into a wide smile when she saw Lin climbing down from the chair.
"Good morning, Lin," she said brightly, leaving her husband's side to go talk to the little girl. "And how are you today?"
Ruel, who had been smiling, sighed and moved around to the other side of the table, where he took a seat to wait for his breakfast.

Lin looked over her shoulder to see who was talking to her as she went the rest of the down.
"I'm good," Lin replied back as she turned putting her hands behind her back, "Are you here for breakfast?"
She smiled up at Luthien, she did not mind being on her best behaviour around Luthien, though she was a bit curious about Ruel, he seemed a bit grumpy all of a sudden.

"We are indeed," Luthien replied, laughing softly. "I would invite you to join us, but it appears that you've already eaten! Off on another adventure, are you?"
Her dark eyes were sparkling with amusement. She knew her husband's opinion of anyone or anything different, but she couldn't help but feel an almost maternal affection for this little girl. She was so small, after all, and alone ... and cute.

"Yea, but I can stay, adventures don't run away on you, in fact they do the opposite and run towards you," Lin replied back thoughtfully, "At least that's what Nina says!"
She nodded for a moment.
"Besides I haven't talked to Earendil's Daddy yet!"

Luthien looked over at Ruel, and her expression was somewhat doubtful.
"You can try," she said softly, kneeling beside Lin and putting her hands out to her, "but I don't know how well it would go. He doesn't know your language at all, and I'm not sure how much of ours you know ... if any."
Not to mention he was a bit tender on certain topics, and - to be honest - could be rude. As much as she loved him, she had to admit that sometimes he could be a beast to others ... though he was always much better behaved around her.

Lin climbed up happily, her hands were soft good hands, kind of like her Mommy's.
"Well, Mommy says a hello never hurt anyone."
Granted, having it come from Kara, there was a lot Kara thought wouldn't hurt to try at least once.
