_______"Your arrogance will be your undoing," Vincent muttered as the man wouldn't deign to face him honorably. The woman remained, but Vincent gave no more attention to her than the man had to him. With little more than a thought, Vincent changed his plan of attack, manipulating the trajectory of his movement. He turned and rotated mid-air a moment before he collided feet first with a building. His mind hastened to decide on a plan of attack, thoroughly exploring each option in the fraction of a second in which he stood on that wall.
_______When he had decided, Vincent kicked downward and away from the wall, throwing all three needles at the man in one stroke and he manipulated his inertia to land twenty feet away from the man. As he hit the ground, Vincent performed a rolling maneuver before he pushed away from the ground with only his left arm, manipulating his motion once more to flip and spin in the air and land facing the man.

Three days have past since Kuroya reached this new land, and still...He's broke. The few jobs he has found so far have been gruntwork, loading and unloading ships for the many merchants of the island for just enough pay to get by...Things have almost reached the point where he's willing to take on a few...less honest...jobs.

Kokashi walked down the halls of Shield HQ with a determined look on his young face as he put on the rest of his uniform. His squad of ten men followed behind him. All wore the telltale blue uniforms of the Shields and wore the heavy duty flak jackets designed to prevent bullet wounds. The whole squad walked to the garage where their vehicles awaited them.

The first was a jeep of sorts with a mounted gun. This gun was able to fire several different kinds of ammunition and was controled by a gunner. The gunner was protected from counter-fire by a metal shield that ran outside the body of the gunner in front. Both the driver and passenger sat in low seats behind a bulletproof windshield. The canopy over the top was made of thick titanium, light but also strong. The passenger carried an assault rifle of sorts with a grenade launcher attatchment.

The second vehicle was an armored personel carrier. Bulletproof, heavy, and amphibious, this was the transport of choice for moving numerous people around through hostile terrain. It could easily fit up to eight people comfortably with extra ammunition and supplies. This is what the other members of the crew would be riding in. The squad suited up, loaded up, and shipped out, engines humming as the vehicles zoomed out of the garage and towards the trouble area.

Sighing, the young man enters his personal favorite haunt, an open air, cheery seeming tavern that many of the richer seaborne merchants tend to visit. Sitting in one of the back corners, he motions over one of the barmaids, returning her smile softly before placing his order. A bit morosely, he digs down into his pocket to pull out his last twelve pieces of silver, handing them to the girl and leaning back to look around for a likely employer...

The woman remained, but Vincent gave no more attention to her than the man had to him.

Things changed. Her being so unworried was based on the fact that Vincent was going to just go away after his needles didn't hit, and he was going to take to the men behind her, unseen. Her eyes followed him to be sure of this, and ensure that she could watch her partner work in relative peace. Of course, this is not how things happened, and she had to actually deal with the man. In the fraction of a second that Vincent used to come up with an alternate plan, he would find his thoughts interrupted as her sash, sent when he was performing acrobatic feats in the air, tightened around his ankles. It's too bad that Vincent had gone on to ignore her, because now he was going to pay for being more of annoyance than he was worth.

His jump was cut very short, and Vincent's face wouldn't even have the time to slam into the side of the building. Her sash was very quick to wrap upwards and restrain the man's arms to his sides next. Vincent would be left hanging upside down three feet in the air, completely immobilized.

Now, the demented man kept moving, wondering why there wasnt any such sounds of fighting, chaos, and action, and with that small though passing his mind, he snapped his head around while still moving, cautious of what was going on.

Thrown darts or none, the darkly clad man would avoid them if they ever came at him, simply raising a temporary minor shield spell which protects against small projectiles such as bullets, or in this case, needles. However, at the same time, he took the oppotunity for a quick strike, hardly caring whether or not it hit or not, firing a second needle out of the reed inbetween his lips at the man, suspended upsidedown by the end of his compatriot's scarf whilst he drew a glass dagger and began polishing it's clean blade with a small bit of wool.

Yet, even if he hadnt noticed anything initially until a split second later due to the lack of chaos in the quiet and abandoned area, his agents on the other hand were much faster to react.

Each monster, formerly human or some other sort of demihuman, was an undead monster, as can easily be revealed as they leaped low across the roof into the open air, of the street, highly agile and fast, easily crossing the distance of the roof in a blink. And even as the demented man with the glass weapon and needles made his attack, all five of the undead were in different points in the air around the suspended man.

One was high above him, at an angle right across from the woman with the restrained man inbetween them, firing down three needles at the upside down body as it moved through the air above the man with the glass dagger.

A second one was below to the left side of the building, and to the right, one opposite, both firing upwards in a crosslike motion, four shots each at the man.

The last two however, simply landed to the side of the man and the woman, one by each side, remaining invisible to the naked eye with their enchantments still up.

And as each of the three undead forms made their attacks, the cloaking spell would disappear, revealing each to view as they made their initial attacks.

What was odd about these undead agents were plainly obvious. They did not move as they appeared. A rotting corpse should move slowly with stiff limbs, however, these were quick and highly agile. Simply shaming those who were living with what they possessed. Why? Because quite simple, upon closer inspection, a pure perversion of life and death alike. These... ghouls possessed incredibly thin builds, flesh riotting off their skull, fingers ending in claws, elongated limbs, and empty white eyeballs as if they were engineered rather than just risen. They were even dressed in close fitting blacks suits like ninjas, two of them complete with clothes covering their rotting lower faces. Their weapons being a tiny mechanism like a crossbow which fired the needles, one at each wrist. And now, one would have to wonder what kind of sick people would 'breed' undead?

Anyways, back to the moment at hand: as each attack was made at roughly the same moment, having to depend on distance for the time it took to strike the target, holding still would result in getting hit, and after the initial shots, those after would follow a target which moved, even spraying in the random direction around that area as if guessing where the body would try to move in avoidance. This was all done at the same time as the scarf would trap the man, maximizing potential of surprise and well... whatever damage such moronic weapons would produce. Maybe they fired off at such a high velocity that they would go right through him... but too bad they didnt though.

But of course, while the assault went on, the darkly clad man would move from one body to the next, wary of the tricky man as he would lightly touch them, seemingly checking for life, even though they were clearly dead.

If mister energy see-er was busy looking at the demented man who equipped his unit in such odd ways, he would see a bubble around a blurry form, a source of the magical energy overpowering other forms of energy, but then, the image would only blur some more and become a large blob which only seemed to grow. However, to anyone which saw with normal vision, he only appeared to be a normal guy, albeit a little creepy in his actions, being wary of the suspended man as he moved from one body to the next polishing a clean weapon.

The three attacking specially bred ghouls would land in the order of the two attacking from below first and then the one attacking from above, according to the physics of gravity and all.

Enki Leviathan
Yes?

"Busy?" the man shouted again, barely audible over the noisy sound of the sputtering moped engine, but short and clear enough so that none of the intricacies of his eloquent statement would be lost in translation...

The man leaned back on the bike seat; heels digging into the ground to either side of it, and still holding onto the handlebars as a means of keeping his posture. Like that he sat for another few moments, simply staring down the Leviathan from behind that stupid pair of shaded goggles with an equally stupid grin upon his face. Eventually, when Enki began to reply, he cut off the engine halfway through the blue-haired man's statement; leaving an empty silence where it had been so noisy before.

"...I hear you've been looking for me?"

*Enki watches the man for a moment, looking at every detail of him, trying to remember where, or if, he has seen this man before. Nothing was really registerig in his mind, this man could be from anywhere, but appearently knew Enki. All Enki could do is wait for the man to turn off his moped*

It's a possibility, depending on who you are

"I'm the man you've been looking for, didn't I just tell you?" the black-clad man replied with a laugh; reaching up with one hand to pull the goggles and riding helmet from his head, and throwing them down into a basket on the side of the back of the vehicle. As soon as it was done, his hand came back up again and swiped through his matted-down hair; while grinning just as absurdly as he had when he had showed up out of the blue.

"I'm a peddler of smiles, a merchant of happiness, a genie in a bottle, and everything that you desire..." the man began again; tipping his head to the side slightly as he rambled off more or less the same thing over and over again... "My name is James Black, and I grant wishes."

Ryugi Kazamaru walked around Latent enjoying the fine morning breeze and fresh clean air. While he had been planning to leave and go on an adventure to explore new lands, it had been put on hold since no map shop offered a decent map of the area. That never stopped him when he was younger, but now that he had Vargus and Eclipse in tow, he needed to be more careful.

After a bit of walking, he came upon the park. A quiet little place with trees, grass, and playings for children. It was a popular spot for families to have a picnic. He shrugged and walked slowly down the park road, smiling one of his warm smiles. He was thuroughly enjoying himself.

After she has purchased the little raccoon kit, Nedy found that she did not want to go home quite yet; she enjoyed her freedom, and besides, it was a long walk that she did not want to start just now. So instead, she walked in the direction of the park she had passed earlier on the day, carrying the animal tote in both arms while her handbag bounced slightly on her hip.

When she found the park she barely looked around, even though the little animal was rummaging around in excitement over the new environment. There were children playing and mothers watching, but luckily for her Nedy found an empty bench to sit up. She put the tot next to her, resting one hand on it, and put her bag in her lap, resting the other hand over it, so that no thief could easily steal it.

"Hi, you," she said softly to the raccoon, "nice to meet you..."

Ryugi was still walking through the park when he noticed a young woman sitting on a bench, talking to what appeared to be a baby raccoon. Ryugi, being the friendly type that he was, decided to introduce himself. However, he had a funny feeling he had seen the young woman before...

He walked up the road near the bench, with his warm, kind smile still on his face. He didn't want to startle her, so he spoke somewhat softly from a distance.

Good afternoon Miss. Are you enjoying the park too?

Nedy's head jerked up when she heard the man speak, her eyes widening for a short moment before catching sight of who had spoken and not recognising him as a potential danger. The little kittysune pressed forth a shy smile and nodded, clutching her handbag just in case he was of that sort after all.

"Yes, sir...very much..."

Her voice was low, mild, rather pleasant. There was also a hint of an accent, not prominent enough to easily pin-point, but most likely from around the Mediteranian. But there was nothing in her Celtic appearance that could point in that direction either.

Ryugi could see that the woman seemed a little nervous, so he opted to lean against a tree farther away from her than sitting down with her on the bench. He walked over to the tree and lay his back against it with his hands in plain sight.

Pardon me for asking, but were you perhaps a nurse at Leviathan Stadium? You seem familiar somehow, and thats the only place I can think of where I might have seen you. Oh! How rude of me. My name's Ryugi Kazamaru.

He smiled after telling her his name. His red eyes sparkling almost with a kindness not seen often in the world of humans.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 09, 2005 1:40 pm

A curious thing, that she should be remembered so long after she left the Leviathan stadium in favour of the development and research centre. She did not seem to recall ever seeing him, or having caught the scent of him, when she was working there. But a person seen once of a fragrance smelled once did not often stick to memory.

"Yes, sir, I used to be head of the infirmary. Please pardon me, but I can't seem to remember you and the name doesn't ring a bell."

Her voice was still soft, but it seemed to gather some strength, maybe due to the fact that this could not be a complete stranger - or, she not a complete stranger to him, as would be more accurate to say.

"My name is Nedyfay Darkchild. Nice meeting you, mr. Kazamaru."

Ah, I remember now. You healed me after a particularly difficult fight. I should be able to remember someone with such a pleasant personality. And its a pleasure to meet you as well, Ms. Darkchild.

He smiled a bit. He didn't know if she was married or not, so he chose to use the Ms. which could go for either. He couldn't tell much about the woman from what she was saying. But from her voice and her body language, she seemed like she was holding in a sadness of sorts. Something deep within her that she was trying to forget about. Ryugi may not have been an expert on humans, but he could tell when things were awry.
