Kugutsu Mokujin

Okay I think I went through the twelve pages... not much there... but I think some of these clan lightning jutsus could be salvaged.

I haven't tried adapting them yet, I really have to get tp bed now and priority goes to make some more training for the students! I'll get to work on it sometime this week!

Rai Bunshin no Jutsu (Lightning Clone Technique)
Developed in the halls of Amegakure but used by Lightning Element ninja the world over. This jutsu gathers the negative ions in the air and binds it with your chakra to form a clone of your likeness. To touch these clones is to get quite the shocking surprise
Cp cost: 100
Damage: 10 – 25 + chk mod
Reflex DC: N/A
Requirements: Lightning Affinity/Chakra Control: 18, Ninjutsu: 15
Training: 35 posts
Special: Each clone has half your stats and 50 Hp. Clones cannot use ninjutsu or genjutsu and are maintained for [user’s chk mod + 10] turns.


Should have some sorta added effect such as the a smaller version of this one upon contact. You know, because of the flavor text.

Ranshinsho (Important Body Points Disturbance)
By attacking the base of the brain stem with chakra converted to electricity, the user is able to attack the nervous system, hindering their opponents’ movement and reflexes.
Cp cost: 40 per post.
Damage: N/A
Fort DC: 18 + ChK modifier
Requirements: Lightning Affinity/ Chakra control: 40 Heal: 35
Training: 80 posts
Special: Temporarily decrease your opponents’ DB/Reflex/attack rolls by 10. Effect lasts 1 post.


So like the Special would be "Temporarily decrease your opponents’ DB/Reflex/attack rolls by 5 (or 2 or some other number)."


As well, I think this one should also be tweaked:

Chou Raidendou (Super Lightning Conduction)
Follow-up to Raidendou (Lightning Conduction). The user passes lightning chakra through an object, causing it to vibrate at a high frequency. The kinetic energy of the object is raised, causing it to hit at a much higher force.
Cp cost: 70 per post
Damage: See Special.
Reflex DC: N/A
Requirements: Lightning Affinity/Chakra Control: 50, Ninjutsu: 48
Training: 75 posts
Special: Add double chakra mod. to damage


The text says, "The kinetic energy of the object is raised, causing it to hit at a much higher force." And I think that although vibrating would give a blade greater attack power, I think it would also reduce air resistance/increase speed aka increasing attack roll. So maybe it could do a little of both.

@Monke: True that... But then again, the way I see it, Ranshinsho is like... a small, accurate shock, while the Lightning Clone technique is more of a unrefined shock. I do suppose it would cause the same effect. Just smaller. Why did I drop physics crying (Actually, I'm glad I did but it's quite inconvenient not to have this knowledge whenever i'm thinking about jutsu lol)

@Chou Raidendou: Hmmm... maybe. You're right... Might do a +4 to attack roll.. I mean the CP cost is high enough lol.
I think for these 'per post' things, in this list at least, I probably meant per round, not per attack turn.

Awesome man! You always do good work.

Though I was wondering if you could make a few tweaks like:
-turning the hair brown instead of blue
-making the skin a tad bit darker/fuller/rosier because it looks a bit pale
-making the inner shirt and pants a bit of darker shade of their respective colors
-and raising the black sleeves up, the blue jacket is supposed to be more of vest (so no sleeves instead of short sleeves)
-put like a solid black line aka a belt between the shirt and pants

And it would be really could, if you could (I dunno if its even possible) give the jacket more of "heartbreaker jacket" look? And add a sword?

Then it wouldn't be awesome it would be....

Well, the shock travels through your your whole body regardless of where it initiates. Your body will always freeze up. All that really changes is the duration due to the amount of electricity and the placement just tells you what part of the body will be effected the most. So hitting the brain would mess with your mental function more so maybe you should add a drop in willpower/intelligence. While hitting anywhere else would do mess up your movement abilities. Although it would increase your gripping powers since the muscles lock into place. So it would work against you if your opponent was trying to grapple you.

I know a bit because I have gotten sizable shocks a couple of times, some of which were self inflicted. 4laugh

I also remember a bit of high school physics. I took it up to the AB level.

And I like to free form roleplay with people who like to use tazers.

And hey Kouri before the clean up I have two questions, both involving the Kugutsu thread in the approvals forum (page 4, in the bottom):

1. Could you unlock it? I know I could copy paste the text but then I'd have to do the finition work again with the textsizes and the bolds and the italics etc. If I could just jump into edit post and copy paste everything it would be far more simple.

2. In this same thread, can you add the jutsus that were approved there to a general Kugutsu jutsus section in the 3.0 system. These puppeteering jutsus were all approved and for the general list but were never added for some reason, Mokujin is the only one using them!

I was really referring to just the raised collar and angular design of the chest flaps or whatever you called the two center pieces. As for the swirls and cross belts, I'd say try em out and see if they fit well. I ultimately leave the swirls and belts to discretion but the main thing is just the collar and the angular design.

Clan Name: Kugutsu

Village: None, Kages contact the Kugutsu village's leaders and place "orders" for a certain number of individuals of certain characteristics. This is in no way unusual or diminishing in Kugutsu culture.

Element Affinity: Any, the Kugutsu's element affinity depends on the properties and origins of the wood used in its "breeding".

History: Over 600 years ago, in Sunagakure, the Kazekage had given a group of highly skilled puppet masters the responsibility of further developing the art of puppet wielding, the pride of the sand village. After years of developing more and more complex jutsus a new idea sprung into their minds. Instead of working on ways to find more elaborate methods of controlling puppets, why not work on a way to have it control itself. The council realized the ultimate weapon for a puppet shinobi would be an autonomous puppet, one that would not require the user’s attention to wield and allowed him to focus his mind and chakra reserves solely on the opponent.

As the years passed, a few techniques spawned from this project; yet none that bore the desired results. One was the ability for a human to replace existing or missing limbs with puppet parts. The other, developed by the elder head of the council, a woman named Chiyo, was a way to transfer a person’s life energy to another body, a form of reincarnation technique.

Still, individually, none of these techniques bore the desired fruits and the few that were develloped were deemed too dangerous to be preserved. Eventually, the project was abandoned on the orders of the fifth Kazekage.

In spite of the fact that the council had officially disbanded when the project was abandoned, a few of its members kept working secretly on the technique, free of the limits and barriers imposed by the Kazekage on their methods. After many desperate years of research and many lives lost in the process, the puppet council finally got their hands on the works of the legendary Sasori of the Red Sands, the only human being ever to have fully transformed his body into a puppet. His developments in life transfers, whose apogee was reached through the development of puppets made from human corpses that kept their ninja’s attributes and through the infusion of his own life essence in inanimate matter were going to be the key to their now seven decades long search.

The years passed and nearly all of the members of the council died, save one. The reason he outlived his acolytes was that he was the only one whose obsession had pushed him to undergo Sasori’s complete body transfer. For many years he kept working on the technique and, after nearly half a century of wasting innocent shinobi’s lives trying to transfer an autonomous counsciousness into puppets, realized what had been the problem all along. In order for the puppet's body to have the ability to control itself, to grow, to move, it needed more than only the ability to coordinate its own movements through the puppet jutsu. It needed, like any living being, control over its cell structure. This aspect was somewhat problematic as it implied its chakra system would require control over wood. Yet, the puppet master had only once heard of a shinobi who could control wood, and he had been dead for centuries.

It took the puppetmaster more than a hundred years of roaming countrysides, interrogating random peasants or shinobis and simply following every blind lead he could find before he finally heard rumors of a potential candidate. The young boy was said to be a descendant of an ancient clan who had sporadically shown the ability to control wood. It came to him as a great surprise since the ability was thought to be now completely extinct. After many vigorous interrogation sessions, a fortune spent on bribes and miles of land traveled, he finally learned of his target's whereabouts. The poor boy never had a chance.

The fight was extremely brief and the puppeteer wasted no time in retreating to a safe location to make the necessary preparations for what would be the culminating point of his life’s work. Once everything was in place, he used his puppet technique on the young captive. Against the boy's will, he had them both realize the ritual on a stack of ten puppets. The jutsu , that had as its basic principles Chiyo’s reincarnation jutsu, perfected and altered through Sasori’s dark fuuinjutsu, was extremely complex and implied great risks for both their lives. Nevertheless, the overconfident puppeteer was convinced his mastery over puppets would give him the edge he needed to complete it and escape with his life.

If everything went at first according to plan, the difference between the strength of the life energies of an old withered puppet master and that of a young vibrant boy was the variable that had escaped the elder’s calculations. If his skills and power were exponentially greater than the boy’s, his life energy was dramatically weaker, thus, through the channeling of the jutsu, the poor prisoner's life force completely overpowered and ensnared his captor's, keeping him from completely getting back his life essence once the process was completed. As could have been expected, both lives faded in the outcome.

The puppeteer’s life force fused with the wood user’s into a chakra system for the puppets. One’s knowlege, infused in the chakra, served as an architect as the other’s skills instinctively rearranged their structure into a living, viable, organic system. Merely seconds after their architects fell lifeless to the ground, the ten puppets rose in the abandoned refuge as autonomous, intelligent, living beings. Yet, still puppets without a puppeteer...

It would only be three hundred years later that outsiders would first lay eyes upon their village. A ninja cell from Konoha strayed from their itinerary during a mission in the Bear country and stumbled upon a small village whose architecture strangely resembled that of Sunagakure. Their biggest surprise though was to find it was populated by roughly a hundred individuals... made of wood.


Description of Limit:The Kugutsu are human puppets whose external structure is segmented and made of chakra infused wood. Given the fact that their very movements necessitate the use of a variation of the puppet technique, like a puppet pulling its own strings, they have an innate understanding of the jutsu and better control over their chakra. The constant strain on their chakra system also makes them develop their chakra capacities much faster than those who rely on muscle contraction for movement. Obviously, the concept of dismemberment or articular dislocation is completely lost on them. They can also modify their own body to install puppet weapons as long as the replacement limbs are made of the same wood their bodies are. They remain, however, puppets without a puppeteer. They have no instinct of what to do in society, as this aspect was supposed to be controlled by a master. They instinctively and unconsciously long for a puppeteer, making them extremely weak to any form of mental suggestion, and, therefore, dramatically weak against genjustsu.

Requirements to learn Kugutsu no jutsu derived techniques cut by half (does not affect clan specific jutsus)
Requirements to learn elemental ninjutsu increased by 25%

Attributes:

1.5x chakra
1.2x constitution
0.8x wisdom
0.7x charisma

Weaknesses:

25% weakness to fire
All will saves cut by 25%
Healing a Kugutsu depends for half on the treat injury skill and for half on the repair skill, making most traditional medical shinobis unsuited to treat them properly [(treat injury roll / 2) + (repair roll / 2)]

Resistances:

25% resistance to lightning

Jutsu List:

Kugutsuken (Puppet Fist)
A technique developed by the Kugutsu Clan over the years, although not necessarily for combat. Using his unique physiognomy, the user manipulates his body as he would his puppet. Therefore, he pulls his limb with his chakra instead of pushing with his strength to increase power and uses his puppeteering skills rather than his agility to move. It is, obviously, not the most graceful combat style.
Cp: 3 cp per post.
Damage: Same principle as regular combat
Requirement : Kugutsu Clan, mastered Kugutsu no jutsu, perform puppet play 10
Special : Replaces [dex mod] in rolls by [perform puppet play], [str mod] by [chk mod], and [taijutsu skill] by [perform puppet play skill]. Can be used for attacking, dodging, or everyday uses.
Training : 2 days

Kugutsu Tensou no jutsu (Puppet Transfer Technique)
Developed by the Kugutsu Clan, this jutsu was originally called the Kugutsu bunshin no jutsu (puppet clone technique) but was later changed due to slight differences in nature with the technique of the same name. This jutsu allows the Kugutsu to channel their chakra and a part of their consciousness through their chakra threads and to their puppets. This way, the puppet gains autonomous consciousness identical to the user's, much like a kage bunshin or mizu bunshin. It can therefore move and fight, use jutsus or control other puppets without their puppeteer having to use the kugutsu no jutsu on them.
Cp: 8 cp per puppet for connection.
Damage: n/a
Requirement: Kugutsu Clan, Kugutsu no jutsu, Kugutsuken, Chakra 25, Chakra control 20. One additonal connection possible for every additional 10 points in chakra control.
Special: Since the puppet's internal structure is far simpler than its user's, it relies solely on the kugutsuken technique for complex movement such as running or attacking. Puppets must at all times be linked to the user by a chakra thread through which they channel the chakra necessary for their techniques. They must therefore remain within relatively close vicinity of the user. Jutsu is immediately cancelled when puppet reaches 25% health.
Training: 5 days

Owner: Never seen the point of restricting techniques or clans, if someone wants it feel free to create a Kugutsu.

General puppeteering skills:

Wana Kugutsu Kawarimi no jutsu (Trap Puppet replacement technique)
After using regular Kawarimi and replacing his body with a bondage type puppet, user takes adavantage of the momentum to trap his opponent in his bondage type puppet.
Cp: 2 cp
Damage: n/a
Requirement: Mastered Kugutsu no jutsu and Kawarimi no jutsu, puppet play 5.
Special: Can be used immediately after the Kawarimi. Bondage roll made immediately following the jutsu has DC increased by 1.5.
Training: 1 day

Kinubariken (Thread fist)
This technique is used in conjunction with any fist melee attack. User launches a melee attack at his enemy not with the intention of damaging him but of placing chakra threads on his body for control jutsus. User cannot get free of them once attached until the puppeteer tightens them to use a jutsu.
Cp: 2 cp
Damage: ½ regular attack damage.
Requirement: Kugutsu no jutsu
Special: If physical attack hits or direct contact is made, roll 1d5 to determine how many threads attach. If roll is 1, no threads attach, otherwise, the number of threads that attach is equal to DC.
Training: 2 days

Ito Kinubari (Needle and Thread)
User Image
User attaches a chakra thread to a Kunai, needle or other projectile and throws it at his target, enemy or enemy’s puppet. Using the puppet technique, the user can guide the projectiles in mid air to make contact more easily. If the projectile hits the target, whether blocked or not, it attaches to it. User cannot get free of them once attached until the puppeteer tightens them to use a jutsu.
Cp: 1 cp per projectile
Damage: n/a
Requirement: Kugutsu no jutsu, Kinubari Attachi, chakra control 5
Special: Add 1 to [Ranged attack bonus] in rolls for every ten levels in [Perform puppet play] .
Training: 2 days

Kugutsujin no jutsu: Shien (Human puppet technique: Support)

By placing chakra threads on a friendly target, the puppeteer uses his puppet play skills to assist him in battle
Cp: Same as manipulating a puppet.
Damage: n/a
Requirement: Mastered Kugutsu no jutsu, perform puppet play 15, target is willing to be controlled.
Special: Convert target’s [dex mod] to user's [perform puppet play], target's [taijutsu] to user's [perform puppet play], target’s [str mod] to user's [chk mod] and target's [Reflex] to user's [Reflex].
Training: 3 days

Kugutsujin no jutsu: Chuubuu (Human puppet technique: Paralysis)
User uses the chakra threads on his enemy to prevent any movement, leaving him open to attacks from the puppeteer’s puppets or allies.
Cp: 30 cp to to initiate the jutsu, 8 cp to maintain for additional posts
Damage: n/a
Requirement: Mastered Kugutsu no jutsu, perform puppet play 20, chakra control 20.
Special: Can only be used if a minimum of 5 chakra threads are tied to the enemy. Every turn, the enemy rolls a strength check and the puppeteer rolls a control check (D20 + chk mod) in return. If the control check is superior to the strength check, the enemy remains paralyzed. For every thread attached to the enemy counting up from 5, add 20% to control check.
Training: 4 days

Kugutsujin no justsu: Soujuu (Human puppet technique: Manipulation)
User uses the chakra threads on his enemy to control him against his will, as a human puppet.
Cp: 50 cp to intiate the jutsu, 10 cp to maintain for additional posts
Damage: n/a
Requirement: Mastered Kugutsu no jutsu, mastered Kugutsujin no jutsu: Chuubu, perform puppet play 30, chakra control 30.
Special: Can only be used if a minimum of 5 chakra threads are tied to the enemy. Every turn, the enemy rolls a strength check. The Puppeteer rolls a control check (D20 + chk mod) in return. If the control check is superior to the strength check, the puppeteer can do one action using the enemy as though he was his puppet. For every thread attached to the enemy counting up from 5, add 10% to control check.
