Jendayi turned towards Layla and inwardly scowled, "dind't you two just ream me on intruding?" she gave a pleasent smile, "anyway, I was coming to Maji to apoligize. Since you had run awa- er, sorry. Since you so kindly left us, I was unable to find you. I'm terribly sorry though, Layla. I was unaware that you two had... an existing relationship. I was merely playing around with you. maji," she turned her back on the young girl and looked towards the lion in the river. "I hope you can find it in yourself to forgive me. I didn't realize that some of the mistweaver pride had not come to realization. On the other hand, I may be wrong about my accessment." she bowed her head and drew back her ears, feeling just a tinge of shame.

Maji smirked a bit up to Layla, it seemed that it did take a bit more to drive her away than he thought. He was a bit thankful for it- he'd known the female since she was a cub herself- perhaps the first cub he'd met in his enitre life, his oldest non-prey animal friend. He had a lot that he wished to discuss with her... looking to the other lioness his ears flattened a bit in guilt... it was no excuse to treat another rudely. Especially if she claimed to be from his pride. Taking a deep breath he reached up, using his claws to comb back his small mane, "Okay...okay...", his eyes rose up to Jendayi, "Please... forgive my temper. It was unlike me to grow so angry so quickly. Please understand that... this land has been under terrible, terrible disastors one after the other and I've been the only one I've known to have weathered them all. It was just a suprise to meet up with an old friend from days past." He placed his paws in front of him, allowing the sun to dry his back a bit, "You're both welcome to live with me- if that's what you wish. There's more than enough room."

Layla's features spread forming a rarely seen smile as she made eye contact with Maji. It faded into a pleased expression as she listened to Jendayi's apology, ignoring the stab she'd made at her. At the offer of a place to live she jumped down from her branch approaching Maji with a look of gratitude.
"That is quite the generous offer, however I have a tree in the forest with my guardian and she's quite...stubborn about where she stays," she rolled her eyes casually, though her position remained slightly defensive in the company of the stranger, her claws revealed and picking at the earth idly.
"Perhaps I may visit in the future, with an invitation of course," she made the correction quickly, not wanting to make any assumptions about their friendship.

Jendayi looked up ay Maji. She walked from the bank and stated wading into the water, closer to him. He... he was inviting her to stay with him? She felt a pain in her eyes. a stinging she hadn't et herself feel for quite some time.
"I'm sorry that I interrupted your metting." she flattened her ears in shame. "I'd... I'd very much like to stay with you Maji. It would be a great honor to be able to stay with you. I do not think I had any idea whgat you have faced." I wonder if my family went through that. I can't say they deserved, not my mother anyway. She thought to herself, but continued. She waded closer to him and leaned down, nuzzling him on the top of his head gently. "You are a very brave one, Maji. Much more than I."
She turned her body to Layla, "That must be nice, having a gaurdian. I hope you come to vist often, as long as it is fine with Maji. You and Maji will make a beautiful couple. You are both strong." She didn't give her infamous inward smile, and she wasn't cocky about it. She meant nothing by her last comment, except for what was said. She dipped her head under the water, and bobbed back up. She shook out her fur, spraying Maji.

Mizaku, -the tan colored, wandering juvenile leopard-, was climbing along the tree branches looking for bird nests. His ghostly gray eyes scanned over leaves and bark while scrambling from tree to tree; tail flickering and ears twitching. He could hear the flowing river as he continued searching for a bite to eat.
But soon enough his concentration was disturbed by the unfamiliar voices that he thought were coming from the water. Mizaku furrowed his brow, hopping to the end of a branch and to stare down at the river. The pale leopard was surprised to see lions... in the water. He ducked low behind some leaves for cover, unsure if it was safe to be here.
Mizaku had been alone for a while... it would be nice to talk to someone... but would the lions talk to him? A leopard? Or would they want to eat him... He hesitated, eyes fixed on the river. And then, as he mustered some courage, the tree-cat jumped down to a low branch hanging over the water and let out a nervous but friendly, "Hello?"

Layla's ears swiveled and her head snapped around to see the sudden intrusion. Before her eyes even met up with the other, the fur on the back of her neck had alredy bristled slightly and she was moving to a very defensive position, claws fully extended, ears laid back and body low to the ground.
Upon seeing the leopard she became a bit less tense, though her guard remained up.
"Hello, who are you?" the question came out sounding harsher than she intended, it being said at a low tone at just barely audible volume. Her eyes searched him, she'd never seen another like her guardian and he was indeed a leopard.

Mizaku stared at Layla, frozen for a moment. His tail was curled in a half circle behind him for balance, and his ears went flat momentarily. The sand-colored leopard cocked his head to the side and gave a faint smile to the female lion, still wondering if he should be here or not...
"My name's Mizaku," he answered in a somewhat hoarse voice. By the way Layla had responded, Mizaku felt he was intruding... His grin faded quickly, and he lowered his head; ears drooping. "... I'm sorry, am I--... am I interrupting something...?" the spotted cat said dejectedly. His eyes trailed off to the other lions for just a second, but soon returned to the beautiful night black Layla.

Jendayi didn't like the look of the leaopard and jumped from the river to a near rock. "Who are you?" She said instictively. Only she was aloud to interrupt conversations. She eyed Layla, then Maji. She felt protective over them now. She only heard a snippit of the conversation before irratably growling. Flicking her tail in annoyance, she called out again, "Interrupting? That word has been cast around often today." She started to raise a paw as if to clean, but placed it back on the large rock. Around her, the river swirled and she instead sat down on her stone perch and proudly watched the creature with unflinching green eyes.
((Wooooh! There goes JenJen's mood swing again!))

Mizaku's ears stayed down, and his body remained still. He found that once again; he was not welcomed by lions... He had been all alone for so long, and when he finally met someone they didn't seem to like him at all... Maybe he was having really bad luck...
"My name is Mizaku..." he repeated quietly. The young leopard looked from lion to lion, and then sighed heavily. His hazy gray eyes moved back to the water and he nodded. "I see... I guess I shouldn't be bothering you then... Sorry."

semhirage "Mizaku, then. I don't necessarily beleive that I said that, now did I?" She hopped from the rock and padded through just a bit of water before reaching the bank.
She approached the tree that she Mizaku was on and dug her claws into the bark. She stretched and tore her claws through the fleshy outer shell. She removed her paws and watched as green liguid splurged from where her nails had been. after a moemnt of fascination, she remembered herself and looked up at the leapord. He was beautiful, sleek and very mature looking. But... something about him.
She rubbed her shoulder against the trunk and gave an extravagent sigh. "Mizaku, these kind lions have shown me a trememndous amount of respect in just less than a day. I feel I should show the same kindness to you." she grew even more uncomfortable as the moments went by with this stranger. "Please, for now, you are welcome, at least in my eyes. As for them..." she looked at Maji, then a bit harder at Layla and shrugged."
She didn'y want Layla getting mixed up with another male. Maji was her match. At least, she hoped he would be.

He stared down at her, a very strange but blank expression seemed to be plastered on his face. He ducked down on the branch; rolling back his shoulder blades and then leaping gracefully to the ground. His paws hit the bank with a quiet thump, and his tail balanced out his fall. The tan leopard was a few feet away from Jendayi now, and he bowed his head.
"Thank you--..." he paused, tilting his head and letting a smile slowly curl around his muzzle, "Sorry... I didn't seem to get your name?" Mizaku's ears twitched forwards, and he suddenly got hope that maybe... they might not hate him like the other lions did...

Jen gave a almost inaudible growl. She didn't like the smirk that was plastered on the male's face. Maybe she was just making too much out of it? No. She most definitely wasn't.
Jendayi contemplated telling the stranger her name. It seemed like a sacred, precious thing to her. Her tail twitched and she immediatly felt confined. Trapped. She stared at the leapord with disgust. "A question before you find out, my dear Mizzy." she gave a faint smile and knew this was the easiest riddle she had. "What belongs to you, but is used by others more often than you, yourself, use it?"

Again, Mizaku's smiled faded. Had he done something wrong? His ears drooped slightly and he took a deep breath, listening to her riddle. Was this... some kind of test lions did... or something? He wasn't sure... but he wanted to be friends... maybe they'd accept him if he answered the question right? Though it sure would be humiliating to get it wrong...
His tail didn't move anymore, and neither did his ears. The leopard looked at her nervously, almost sadly. If he got it wrong than who knows what could happen... sometimes these pride-cats acting very strangely... Mizaku's hesitated just a bit longer to think... and then tried the best answer he could find...
"My... name?"

"I am Jendayi. That is all you need to know." she reconsidered her harsh words, but shook off the idea. She shook out her still wet body and gracefully went to her side. She started rolling in a patch of grass and looked up at Mizaku mid-roll. "I'm sorry for not telling you at first. My mother put great importance into my naming, and I feel it has grown to be a part of me. Ya know?" she gave an other roll and let the setting sun's rays warm her gray coat. She closed her lids and wondered about Mizaku. Maybe she had been a little harsh at first.

Mizaku didn't feel any better by getting it right; this female didn't seem that pleased by telling her name to him... Silently, he thought her name was beautiful... "Jendayi"... he repeated it in his mind, thinking of what it could mean. But he dare not mention that; for some odd reason it would probably offend her...
On the outside, his expression didn't change. He watched the lioness begin rolling through the grass, nodding in understanding to her words but not replying; for fear of further upsetting her ... Mizaku stood still, very still. His tail didn't wave, his ears didn't flicker, he never moved frpm that spot... only his ghostly gray eyes blinked now and again.
