one major suggestion for all of you that spend hours and hours sanding cutting and over all busting your a** for that pertfect part;

Learn how to resin cast!

it's pretty simple, this months Finescale Modeler has an article on it and information about resin kits. I must warn you, NEVER copy a full part. It is illegal, you would be breaking Copyright Laws and that comes back to bite you in the a** HARD.

Common sense rears its fugly head. Yeah, well, while some people do indeed not know how to cast models, I am not one of them. I just like bitching about the resin models Forgeworld makes, and pretty much anything else GW does. 3nodding 3nodding 3nodding 3nodding 3nodding

psh. who cares if resin full casts are illegal. do they expect me to hand-convert every single imperial jetbike I want in my army? So long as I don't SELL it, I could technically pass them off under the fair use act, for using someone's likeness without profit...

Technically, yes you could in england I guess. Here in America though, you would go to jail and get nice really big fines n top of it. I would suggest that you try modifying the model, seeing as you probably would anyway, before you cast it so that it is without A doubt legal.

So long as you've modifyed it X% you can cast it, or just cast the parts you modify.

if chapters are only 1000 men how effective are they at taking over a planet. i know that they are superhuman but they can still be killed.

There are 1,000 chapters. Each company of a chapter has 100 men. There are no limits on the companies within a chapter. Therefore, there are more than 1,000 of each type of marine.

Actually, there is A limit. There can be no more than 1,000 Space Marines in A codex chapter. If you are referring to the Space Wolves, they are not A codex chapter. Therefore, all codex chapters can have no more than 1,000 Marines in them. Anything else, and it is not A codex chapter.

But then again, they have rules for divergences within the space marine codex. If there are slight and significant diverges from the "codex chapter" accepted stuff.. It is not difficult to believe some chapters have higher or nonexistant limits on their population count.

Honour Guard no. 1 has been completed. My axe bloke looks amazing. I made him from one of the Space Marine Vetrens, the one with no immediate arms on him, and used the Chaos Lord axe for his Axe of Zion.

Next, I'm going to work on the Mace of Zion, then the Hammer of Zion and finally the Gauntlet of Zion.

If anyone's wondering what happened to the Sword of Zion, that belongs to the Arch Angel chapter master, Gabriel Taralis. whee

Like I said, codex chapters have A limit, to keep one person from getting too strong. But chapters like the Space Wolves do not give A damn about the teachings of Robout Guilliman, and so they pay no attention to the codex astartes, the book which teaches how one should fight, how chapters should be set up, and so forth.

something unique to the french site.

http://fr.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.fr?do=Individual&code=COMPOARCHIVISTEMOTO&orignav=10

Librarian on bike, anyone? xd

http://fr.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.fr?do=Individual&code=FRENCH VINDICATOR&orignav=10

Vindicator. Not the old shitty one, not the expensive forge world one.
Just as nice.

I also mailed GW this query:

This is something that is really pulling at the brain here...
Rules question.
Ultramarines honour guard ancient has WS 5, and 2 wounds...
Terminators, "ancient warriors of millennia", "deadly veterans of a thousand campaigns", whatever you want to call them... they ARE ancient.. yet have the statlines of a basic space marine.
If they are indeed so well trained and wise, shouldn't they have at least a weapon skill of 5? I would expect someone who has been around during the days of the Emperor to be a li'l more deadly in combat.
Why is it that Terminators seem so poorly trained? They generally strike LAST in combat, meaning half of them die. They aren't even harder to HIT than a normal marine. What exactly is so well trained about these guys?
Their ONLY redeeming quality is carrying assault cannons, which is still sort of costly as it is.

Any information into why space marine terminators seem so poorly trained would be greatly appreciated.

Onto question 2.
The Vindicator. Are there any plans to make an official new model for this tank? Forge World have come up with a suitable proxy, and even the french GW site has tips on how to convert one... But are there any plans to update this tank, or will it simply always be primitive?

Okay, Question 3. The last one. Promise.
Pre-Heresy items. with chapter traits, it is possible to theme pre-heresy armies. But, the only pre-heresy items are the forge world land raider and dreadnought. This means anyone doing a pre-heresy style army must convert ALL models in their army. This is very tedious.
Will there be ANY pre-heresy marine models coming out? This includes those on foot, with "turbofan" jump packs, and terminators or jetbikes as illustrated in the Horus Heresy art books.

Any information on any of my 3 questions is appreciated.

Alright, last one first. From what I understand, yes, you need to convert most, if not all of your marines. They show you how they are supposed to look like in the rulebook though, so that helps. I am going to jump to the first question now. Unfortunately, the Termies are not actually all that ancient. They die from old age after all. If it were Chaos marines, that would be different, but they are not. They are however, VERY old, some are even 2000 years old, but they do not normally live that long. They die in battle, or from old age, or any number of problems. The Terminator honours are intended to show that they are more skilled though, and I think that is what it represents, old age. As to the Vindy, I cannot assist you, I have no idea of any intent to do so. I would think if they were going to though, they would at least try to keep it to the same schedule that the marines had. In other words, if they had any intent to release A new one, they would have done so already. sweatdrop

They replied. How fast of them! The UK help team said:

Hi there

Many thanks for your email.

I'll try to answer your questions in turn.

1. Anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of a squad of Space Marine Terminators can testify as to their prowess in combat. Their armour was primarily designed for close quarter fighting, so getting them mown down by Starcannon fire on an open battlefield is not exactly what the Emperor had in mind. Similarly, their greatest virtue is their flexibility, mowing down the enemy with massed firepower before ripping the survivors apart with their power fists. If you are after a specialised assault unit, try equipping them with Lightning Claws and watch them go! As for the Ultramarines Honour Guard, they really are the elite of the elite: there are 100 members of the First Company, yet maybe only half a dozen Honour Guard: Marneus can afford to be a little more choosy.

2. There will almost certainly be a new Vindicator model released at some point, but at the moment there is no specific release date for it. This is one of the irritating small holes in the Space Marine range that the Games Designers will get around to at some point, but there is always the Forge World version for the moment.

3. There is a pretty extensive range of classic and collectors Space Marine models available on the Online Store (including turbo-fan jump packs), many of which would be perfectly suitable for a pre-Heresy Space Marine army:
http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=List_Models&code=301124&orignav=301117

All it requires is a little creativity, which after all is part of the fun of the hobby. a pre-Heresy army would be fantastic, but probably represents two or three years work for the entire design studio, so alas is probably not feasible right now.

I hope this has been of help.
