I am the first chair and section leader at Goose Creek High. I march Mello and love the sound of both. How can anybody NOT like the sounds of them??? Being a sophmore leader is pretty cool! smile What Chair positions do yall have in region/county?

Septomor I'm proud to announce that guniss world records recognized the french horn as the hardest instrument to play. We rock! It doesn't seem that hard once you get the hang of it.

The-Ryot Septomor I'm proud to announce that guniss world records recognized the french horn as the hardest instrument to play. We rock! It doesn't seem that hard once you get the hang of it. But when you think about it.... so many notes can be played open. You really have to hear every note and with all those slides and the hand in the bell, tuning can be a challenge itself. It's great to be a horn player! heart

French horns rock! When I started playing in our school's pep band some retard had taken the school's mellophone home and hadn't returned it to school so I had to play flugel. FLUGEL IS A TRUMPET INSTRUMENT NOT FRENCH HORN!!! SPREAD THE WORD! sweatdrop I would also like to state that French horn is pretty fricking hard to play so rock on Guiness World Records! 4laugh

French Horns pretty much rule the brass. In our own way of course. ^_^ at my school, there is always a French Horn drum major or major officer. we just roll that way. ^_^ but yes. the French horn is the most divine instrument there is.

Today is a sad day... Even though I love the horn, I've been forced to switch to a different insturment if I want something affordable for when I go to high school. So, I now play the cornet. Even though it's awesome and all, I will miss the horn. I doubt I'll be able to take it back up until I graduate, but some day I shall.

I'm learning mellophone for this upcoming marching season. My main instrument is flute, but I really wanted to try something else, and we needed more mellophones, so... I'm first chair flute though, and people are mad at me for switching. Oh well. xD
It's a bit tricky. I haven't been playing for very long though. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it before band camp. gonk
But it's a very beautiful instrument. I love it.

One of our marching flutes is switching over to mellophone this year too. I get to teach her how to play while she's still in town. She's so used to concert keys that it's hard for her to hear the notes. She brings our grand total of mellophones to two.

Yeah, I really hate having to transpose stuff now. >.<
We've had two mellophones for the past two years, and only one the year before that. We'll have four now, thanks to me.
