She jerked back when she saw Thomas' attack go wide, and what paranoia had been festering with her grew exponentially. An accident? No, it couldn't be, hunters controlled their s**t better than that. The thing's laughter scraped against her ears, and Nora struck it--with less confidence than before.
Was it her only enemy here? Thomas wasn't laughing anymore.
< Bad signs, bad signs. >
She took a step away from the other pair and barely looked at Horace. "Heal would be nice, thanks," she replied distantly, in the midst of machinations. Looking for escapes once something repaired her shield, maybe, maybe. The wound on her arm blackened, slick with more than just water.
< They're going to see, Norrie, and then whatwhatwhat? It hurts. They'll hurt us more like they're hurting it. >
"Going to need it for the iffy charge, yeah."

As the behemoth finally fell, Milo let out a relieved sigh and relaxed his shoulders. Koume was beginning to get heavy in his arms, but even as the threat was gone that didn't mean they were totally in the clear. His side ached too, but there wasn't much to be done about that right now. He didn't have a healing charge like someone did.
< We should really see about that, you've never even tested out any of my other abilities, aho. > The Tengu chimed in, disgruntled as ever. < Like now, when your energy is low...>
Yeah yeah, we'll get to that. The Sun told her, falling in line to the others in his group. It was still a bit hard to see in the lack of light, but for the most part no one seemed to be missing any limbs or anything. Which was good. Finn looked a bit odd. Thankfully Oliver and Peyton were good though, right? "Good job, team ~! Aa, ya, physically okay." Milo told the blonde with a weak smile, "pride's a little wounded but I'll live, ya." He continued with a small chuckle.
A decision seemed to have been made to move on out, which Milo wasn't going to object to in the least. The music store had had its fill of fun times and it was time to move on. Where to though, there seemed to be a few options if he had heard correctly from a few of the announcements he had paid attention to. "Going is good, where to?" He asked the two who seemed to be leading the way.
Then another announcement. Milo frowned."This again? We in repeats now?"

They were like a gaggle of misplaced geese, trying to help out and not quite managing to be in the right place at the same time. Even now, as Cain strode out with purpose and, exasperated, Lukas gestured for Gretchen to follow, it seemed the plan changed on them: an announcement, some imminent danger, and that hardly seemed new.
He paused, listened, and then stretched out his own legs to fall in next to Cain. "Maybe we should just book it for the camp. Ignore the small fries?"

From the announcement it sounded like camp was where the s**t was going to hit the fan, but it was also where everyone was gathering. There was safety in numbers, right? Besides that, the portal was there, or at least it had been there, Gretchen hoped that hadn't changed. "Yeah." She fell into step beside Lukas, crowding him a little, but between the dark and the water she was fighting off mounting panic. Even if she'd only just met the pair, they were all she had in that moment, and she intended to stick with them.
"I think," she paused, looking around them as they reached the map they'd used to locate the rink. "I think the main camp is back that way." Devika's runes glowed in the hazy darkness as she used the end of the staff to point down what looked like a vaguely familiar causeway. It was hard to tell, but she thought she remembered passing that Hot Topic on their way to the department store.
If they were lucky they could indeed avoid any further encounters. Certainly she wanted to avoid the infected, but now the Death found herself hoping they didn't find any civilians either. Selfish, but the wash of guilt that came with the thought was not enough to override the anxiety. If they couldn't save them, she didn't even want to see them.
The crescendo hit his body like a hurricane, like a wave ten feet tall knocking down the sandcastle waiting at the shore. It enveloped him from head to toe, dragged him under and pulled him out to where he could no longer stand, scrambling to stay above the surface and failing in every way.
There was only the riptide, now, the inky depths of oblivion as Syntax flickered offline and desummoned and succumbed to nothingness. His body crumpled in the store, surrounded by charred wreckage and still-in-place metal bars, the fight in him gone out entirely.
Kostya hadn't been strong enough to resist, but he knew he wanted something else besides the purest of ruinations, enough to stay his hand from cruelty unchecked to that which was alive.
He sprawled like a marionette with cut strings, limbs askew, unconscious beneath the sprinklers. A little red, blinking light in the corner was the only reminder that there was evidence of the compromise.

: "I'm fine in regards to infection, but I won't touch anyone to be safe, Jordan only managed to hit me once without Sylvia deflecting the blow entirely. My shields been up through and since the giggler ambushed us."
He paused at the part of being alive, shrugging a bit, "I think I recall a crash course in large weapons training when Tracey nearly took my arm off. I'm fine, it's the trainees that won't be." Still he followed the red headed hunter, his weapon still summoned and now resting easily over his shoulder even as Rep turned again to scream at him. It was strange, Rep was yelling at him, but the things he said where almost reassuring that even through all the twitter fights, the way Jordan flipped off the camera, somewhere the two still did care and maybe it wouldn't get worse.
"I'm sorry, that wasn't meant to be an accusation, I know you would help, I just. If there was a way besides trying to physically stop him I would want to help, that's all." Even as Rep gathered supplies Roland continued to follow him.
The mention of the titan training did however cause him a slightly larger then Jordan rampaging ping of worry. This mall wasn't exactly big enough to support a Titan and it was going to be very messy if one did show up.

"That is a good idea," Isaac responded thoughtfully before grinning down at Nellie. She was looking better already, which put his mind at ease.
"I am ready when Nellie is," he continued, rolling his shoulders in a stretch.

"Well, we'll see what can-" Joy paused as Rep's voice blared overhead. Saying that the situation was bad was like saying the sun was hot and Joy looked surprisingly calm about the whole thing. Brown eyes focused on the civilian she was with and some sense of dramatic narrative prompted her to crack a wry smile before saying, "Looks like you're getting what you wanted, Almost-Dok."
The darkness was a blessing at that moment, hiding the stark terror in her eyes that she would ******** up and end up getting someone killed. Her smile was frozen to her face because the alternate was blind horror and with someone in two Joy could not even contemplate that.
"On the count of three, we run. Okay? THREE!"

After so many assaults on the barricades, it seemed that the enormous infected had changed its aim, it was making a racket as it charged the hallways and was seemingly hostile to many of the lesser creatures that tried to hunt there. As such it was convenient that it showed up when it did to spot a laughing type engaged in fighting some humans. It leapt, and all several tons of its weight was airborne before it crunched down hard on the slender figure and tossed her back like a light snack.
Strangely, it did not attack the group, but instead veered around and charged in the direction of the main camp itself, snarling and drooling a black substance onto the ground which seemed to be all that was left of their former assailant.
When it reached the main camp itself, it attacked those guarding it in addition to the barricades, and this time it didn't seem like it could be turned away.

(( If you are stuck in combat anywhere in the mall, feel free to assume Barry munched your infected and make your way to the main camp! ))
Nodding at Isaac's proclamation that he was ready to go whenever she was, Nellie started heading towards the camp. Rep's parting words on the PA system seemed ominous and she picked up her pace as she approached the base, wanting to reach it as soon as possible before anything else happened. And that was when the enormous infected appeared seemingly out of nowhere and started tearing at the barricades of the base camp.
Glancing back at Isaac to check that he was still following her, she inclined her head towards the creature. "They need help. Let's go." Charging into the fray, she weaved her way through the chaos, getting in close before she pulled back her arm to throw a punch at the infected's side.

The tone of the announcement on the PA was such a different tone that Hope's mouth twisted in anxiety. If even the good guys - presumably the boss of the 'good guys' - was freaking out, something was horribly horribly wrong. She froze for a second, every muscle straining towards the voice even as the system clicked off. She swallowed and looked at Joy.
"N-not exactly how I wanted it to come about, though." But still, Hope thought that maybe, maybe she could be useful. She hated having to be saved, not being enough to survive on her own. She wasn't stupid enough to think she could come out on top in every situation, but it rankled. Her thoughts ran horrible circles in the dark, slipping up in her brain as through they ran on the same slick ground she stodd on. Hope almost missed Joy's words. With a startled gasp, Hope took off running after Joy, almost slipping in the grime.
She ran and ran and did not look at the shadows that lurked and skittered and hissed. Hope only stared at that white coat in front of her.

Everything seemed to happen in a blur. Tommy's charge went wild, scraping along both his and Lex's shields and he opened his mouth to protest. Then Nora was moving and he missed her low words as a rumble sounded in the mall. It drew closer, closer. Something huge and many-handed leapt at the laughing creature in front of them. Horace braced, ready for it to come barreling down on them. Instead it snapped up the other infected, swallowing it in a quick bite. And then. it ran off.
Horace's mouth popped open in utter shock. "W-what the <********> It was gone, but with Rep's announcement and teh general ominous tone, Horace could feel his composure slipping. He pulled out his phone and quickly tapped out a few words. Turning to the other hunters he shrugged, at a complete loss, though adrenaline still surged in his body..
"I... I guess we should book it back to camp. Before it comes back." He rubbed at his chest absently and opened his mouth to say something else, then stopped. That.... that flash of white. His eyes strained.

"J-Jordan?" What was he doing - where was that other hunter who'd run after him? Something was up; no hunter should be alone. If Jordan needed help.. Well, Horace would be marginal help, but surely it was better than nothing. He looked up, wild-eyed at the rag-tag team that surrounded him. And cursed.
He shoved a hand through his hair, tekkos slicing off a few strands. "I have to... I - s**t. I will meet you guys back at camp. I'm sorry." And with that, he was off running, chasing that small slip of white and gold. As he ran, he tapped his tekkos together; Jordan would need him at full shield if something came up. He almost lost the charge as his feet slipped in some kind of infected remains. Horace also almost stabbed himself in the eye. But the charge went through and he desummoned, hoping to avoid any slip and fall accidents.
"Jordan!" he called out, panting, gaining on the other hunter. "Jordan, we have to get to the main camp!"

Joy gripped Bert close with one hand while the other held the flashlight, the beam bobbing to the rhythm of her rapid footsteps. The moon trainee risked a glance back, firstly to make sure the civilian was right behind her and secondly to see if anything was following them.
The ground shook and Joy felt rather than saw Barry rampage past, destroying the other zombies in the process, before it reached the camp. It was chaos, infected hunters fighting other hunters, and now this mass of limbs and sludge making everything worse.
"Punyeta!" Joy growled, gripping both weapon and flashlight so tightly her knuckles paled. She suddenly remembered Wonderland, the Red Queen, the White Queen, ALICE.
Save. Bert's reedy voice reminded her.
Yeah, yeah, that's right. Civilian first. Joy stuck close to the other woman, stance ready to deflect anything that came too near. "Almost-Dok's kinduva long. You got something shorter I can call you?"
Lex gave Tommy the biggest stink eye he could manage, mouthing a curse to himself as he stared at the younger man. Something was different about him, the laughter and the buoyancy vanished from his eyes. Rep had said to look out for any Hunters acting weird, said they'd need neutralizing.
Hunters had better training than to hit their allies. They'd been fighting close quarters the entire night, and not once had one of Thomas' bolts hit them until now. Should he take his eyes off the laughing freak in front of them, though? Or let Tommy destroy them from the inside. He wasn't a strategist, Lex just ran away from things and shot at them. He was intelligent, but this was a scenario he'd never thought he'd have been put in.
Until the hulking mass of dear God what in the ******** took care of that decision for him. Lumbering and multi-limbed, the beast ate the laugher, freeing Lex up to do what he needed to do.
"Holy..." He muttered, turning to Tommy. He smiled a wavering smile, tried to seem at ease. Just like when he put the anesthetic in Stormy; this was for the better. Let them resent him, he was a piece of s**t anyways. "Suppose we can't look a gift horse in the mouth, hm?"
Lex ducked down quickly, ramming Tommy in the chest with a broad shoulder, knocking the boy back then fired a round of light into him, making sure that the bullet hit before turning on his heel and fleeing back to base. He had a feeling the camp needed all the help it could get.
