Following after Luca, it seemed the swordswoman knew where she was going. Well, more so than Sylva did. She didn't have a map or previous experience with spotting clothing stores. Back when she was still the star child in her mother's eyes, her mother had done all the clothes shopping. Sylva had been forced to wear what her mother wanted her to wear. Any sort of style that Sylva suggested, was turned down. While she hated the idea of trying on clothes, she also felt... excited. Because this was the first time she'd get to choose what she wanted to wear. When they reached the store Luca choose however, her heart sank... it appeared to have quite the gender stereotype to it. Well, from the outside it did. once they headed inside, it appeared far more... open-minded.
Though, as far as what she wanted... she wasn't sure. There was a lot to pick from, but since she wasn't buying she had to pick something... a shirt and some pants? Looking down, her boots weren't really looking to good either. Shoes were then also on the order list. That's when she saw it, a mannequin set up in the male clothes area. An outfit sporting a vest, a button down shirt under it, a hat, a pair of shoes nearby as a 'suggestion' as to what to wear with the outfit, and some loose trousers. It was.... perfect. For what it needed to do. Looking back to find Luca, she motioned towards the mannequin. "I'll get this." she stated. The table beside the mannequin provided all the pieces to the outfit. Picking out the sizes herself, she then moved towards the changing rooms, stripping off Luca's clothes and putting the outfit on. In the end... she didn't look half bad. A good pair of boots and she'd have it made. The small area of skin showing on her legs wasn't so bad, she had a slender frame as it was, and with her legs slightly hairy, she looked more like a boy than anything, so it didn't really matter. Popping out of the changing room, she showcased her new look for Luca to see. "Is this fine?" She inquired. "I like it, I've always been a tomboy." She added with a chuckle. "And look, some of it's on sale." she mentioned, holding up a price tag marked 2o% off.

Once Sylva moved inside, the older woman followed her inside, treated once again to a room full of cool air-conditioning. She tailed her companion as she looked around, ignoring the women's section to grab something out of the men's section. She didn't really say anything about the outfit itself, but hung around outside of the waiting rooms while the girl got changed. When the redhead emerged, Luca quickly looked her over, rubbing her chin with a smile. "Yeah, I think that looks good on you," She told her. "It certainly fits you. If there's anything else you need to grab, then let's go grab 'em real quick before I get what I need."
Once Sylva was done shopping, they migrated overt to the women's section, where she started picking out her own clothes. They were more necessities than new outfits, the swordswoman just picking up things she could change into between days or when her clothes did become a mess. Extra shirts, another pair of pants, some unmentionables, and some socks. With largely everything they wanted to buy, the older woman lead them over to the checkout, where she paid for both of their clothes without issue. When all was said and done, they were out within the hour, Luca giving her companion a small pat on the back. "So how's the new, fresh clothes feel?"

Sylva admired her clothes while Luca took a look over of them. She agreed they looked pretty good on her. Sylva didn't think that female oriented clothes looked bad on her either, even with her skinnier than average frame, but she favored boy oriented clothes more. With a nod, she ventured over to the girls section with Luca and picked up a few pairs of socks, and a few unmentionables, as the fellow fem did. With that, Luca paid for everything. With the cashiers assistance, they cut off all the price tags and Sylva was free to wear her new clothes out of the store. handing back Luca's clothes, the red-head placed her own in her bag, thankfully that was the only thing that managed to stay remotely in good condition. Well ,good enough to continue using. She'd likely end up needing a new one soon enough, but that, she planned on buying herself, since this specific store didn't supply the kind of bags she liked.
Once they left, Luca asked about her clothes, the red-head reached for a shirt sleeve, tugging it lightly. "A bit itchy, but that's because they're new." She smiled. "Once we reach the next Pokemon Center we can wash'em and that should help with the itchiness." Generally new clothes did that... it wasn't recommended wearing freshly bought clothes. It wasn't like they had much of an option as of now, it would seem pointless to return to the Pokemon center so early just to wash new clothes. No, their next step was the Gym. It was about time they got their first badge. Hopefully the leader didn't mind taking on two challengers one after another. "Anyway, I'm ready to take on the gym already! Say, I hear gyms have like... type preferences? Do you know what type this gym uses?" It would be good to know after all. Sylva, however had nothing to really worry about. Rolex had gotten some good training in the forest, and was more than ready for not only this gym, but the Cerulean gym as well.

The taller woman nodded as her companion noted how itchy the fresh cloth felt, but reassuring her that all they needed was a quick wash and they'd be fine. "Alright, glad you like 'em at least." The girls hadn't exactly had much time to battle anything other than wild pokemon by this point, but from here on out she suspected her companion would have an easier time with her finances. There'd be more trainers to fight on the way to Cerulean, so money won't likely be such an issue for the immediate future. But then, her ears perked up at the mention of gym battles. Luca's own eagerness started to show, a broad grin growing on her face.
"Yeah, I'm ready for my first badge too," she agreed, sharply turning in place towards the direction of the gym. "Yeah, almost all of them specialize in one type, which they build their team around. If I'm remebering right, Kanto's order goes something along the lines of; Rock, Water, Electric, Grass, Poison, Psychic, and Fire, while the very last gym has no specific focus." Luca counted each type on her fingers as she spoke, already taking the lead towards the gym ahead of them. Listening closely to Luca's recollection of the gyms here in Kanto, Sylva grew rather excited herself. So that meant they had both this badge and the next in the bag. After all, Rolex and Luca's Starter would be perfect for the next two gyms. Electric-types were another question though, but then Sylva recalled one of the captures she'd made back in the forest. That Cubone with the chipped up skull with red marks all over it. Weren't Cubone part ground? She made note to add that tyke to her team to try and train it as well. "So we've got it pretty good, for the first few gyms." Sylva finally mentioned as Luca took the lead to the gym. "Uh, well, I think you can go first. I mean, you bought me these clothes so it's only right that you get first shot." She didn't expect it'd take either of them long to beat the gym, so she was fine either way. Holding up her camera, the red-head held it up towards Luca's direction. "I want to get some good action shots while the leader's mons are still at the top of their game." She chuckled.

With a bit of her grin returning, Luca found herself ready to go, more than happy to get first crack at the starting gym. "Alright, sounds like a plan. Hopefully things won't end too quickly so you can get some good shots." The girl was only half joking, but laughed a little anyway, feeling more than ready to take on the gym. The brown-roofed building was only a short walk away, so they arrived within a couple minutes. Before they entered, the young woman went ahead and released Izalith, who seemed to have evolved somewhere in the time it took for them to get to Pewter City. Not that she was complaining, stepping through the threshold as soon as he was out, not noticing the heart-shaped scale dissolving beneath his feet.
"Hello? I'm here to challenge the gym leader!" She shouted making her way into the interior of the building. There was a large arena set up in its center, with terrain befitting a rock-type gym. That is to say, the sides were just kinda cluttered with rocks and massive stones. But she didn't seem to care, only zeroing in on the man standing on the opposite end. He didn't seem too much older than Luca herself, though she could be wrong. He stared back at both trainers through closed eyes with a friendly smile, more than happy to accept the challenge.
A few minutes later, and they were all setup and ready to fight. As soon as Brock had his pokemon out, she made the first move, sending out her Ivysaur to attack. Izalith unexpectedly used a Giga Drain on the small rock-type, draining away most of its health. Had it not been for Sturdy, it would've gone down in a single blow, but she didn't mind. It just meant a light breeze could knock it over now. It made a good effort fighting back though, hoisting up a stone from the floor around him and chucking it at Izalith, who didn't seem too bothered by the attack. Luca had him use Giga Drain again, but there wasn't exactly much to heal back.
Then came the Onix, a towering lug that cast a great shadow over both the Ivysaur and his trainer. But even the stronger of the two rock-types was slower than her starter, the small thing darting to the side to fully restore his health. Unfortunately, the beast managed to get a good, clean hit after he stopped to use Giga Drain, slowing Izalith down enough for him to get in two, clean blows... Before being felled by the next attack, clearing the gym completely.

As the man returned the last of his pokemon, Luca made her way over to the gym leader, grinning from ear to ear. He gave her a somewhat defeated chuckle, before congradulating her on her victory, and handing the young woman her rewards--Particularly, her very first badge, light reflecting off it until she put it away in a little case. Her excitement was pretty clear, but she restrained herself, walking away as Brock got to restoring his pokemon to full health.
Her hand patted Sylva's shoulder as she went to pass, hoping the battle wasn't too boring to watch. "Alright, he's all your's now Sylva," she told her, stepping away to now play the role of the spectator.

Snapping one last picture before the giant rock snake, Onix fell. Sylva lowered her camera with a grin. Yea, she loved taking photos. The lighting in the gym left something to desire, but they were still good shots to say the least. She could see Brock's expression quickly change through her camera lens. From flirtatious, to intimidated... it was something to grin at. Sylva didn't get the same flirty look Brock had offered Luca, given her new attire made her look more or less like a man, rather than a woman. her long hair was tucked under the hat ,while her flatter looking chest was weighted down by the thick fabric of the vest. "I didn't expect two battles one right after the other." Brock mentioned as Sylva found her end of the battle field. "But don't think we're going to be pushed around so easily." He added, sending forward his Geodude once more. It hardly looked like it'd just got the literal life drained from it a moment ago.
Sending forward Rolex, the Ivysaur shook his body upon being fully released from his ball's light. Looking around a bit, it didn't take long for the Ivysaur to understand his situation. "You ready to fight, Rolex?" Sylva called from behind him. The grass dino bobbed his head, turning back towards the Geodude, releasing his vines, decorated with large Pumpkin leaves themselves. The Ivysaur stepped forward, finding a solid place to ready himself for the battle, unknowingly though, he stepped upon an odd shaped rock, flat and shiny, it lit up his front foot, making him step back in curiosity. "What was that?" Sylva pondered, lowering her camera, lucky to of gotten a shot of the shine before it faded away. Rolex shook himself, looking back to Brock and his Geodude. Well, whatever, it was time to battle. Brock himself did seem mildly curious by Sylva's Ivysaur. Luca's was shiny, yes, but Rolex had a Pumpkin on his back, not a flower bulb. "Use, Power whip!" Sylva called, starting out the battle. From there, the match was entirely one-sided. Geodude, and Onix stood no chance against a Pokemon with type advantage. In the end, Rolex emerged victorious.

As far as taking pictures went, for the rest of the battle Sylva hadn't even touched the shutter. Instead she was full-on focused for the battle at hand. Despite it being easy and one-sided, it was her first official battle with a gym leader. In the end, Brock admitted his defeat for a second time and brought over the goodies of the gym. With a quick send off, the male trainer headed out to heal up his Pokemon. They deserved a long hard rest away from anything remotely green. Sylva herself knelled down to greet Rolex as he sauntered back over to his trainer, appearing rather smug with his victory. "Didn't expect you to have the same move as Luca's Ivysaur." Sylva noted. Well, the attack looked the same, there was only one way to tell if it was the same; the use of their dexes, but Sylva didn't really care to know, so instead she stood up, placed her new items in her bag, and turned to Luca with a grin across her lips. "Our first badge in the bag. Feels pretty good." Sylva mentioned. "Now we get to go for number two." Is this truly what all trainers felt when obtaining a badge? Sylva almost felt... giddy. Happy. It was a foreign and strange feeling, but... she liked it.

Luca watched her friend's battle from the sidelines, a little amused to see that they both defeated their first gym leader in roughly the same way. With her own grin on her face, she returned to her companion once the battle was over. "Yup, it's a pretty nice feeling," she agreed, happy to have reached their first milestone. "I agree. Do you wanna head out now or wander around and see what's all here in Pewter for a day? Mt. Moon isn't that far away." Moving to the side with Luca, Sylva pondered upon her companions question for.. about three seconds. "Let's keep moving." She chuckled. "I think this dump has outlived it's usefulness." Sporting a wide grin, she did her best to show she was only joking to the swordswoman. " The next gym is water, right?" She was sure that was the list Luca provided. "Then I think both our Ivysaurs are ready for that gym as well." Though, she did think it best to also start training up that Cubone she'd caught as well, for the third gym. Thinking on that, she quickly swapped the Cubone, dubbed Wixon onto her team, as well as the Dhelmise, just because. That Spiritomb and Allure could sit on the side-lines for a bit so she could train up these less experienced guys. Besides, Allure had her hands full with keeping Leirsa in line. "I want to train more than stand around window shopping or site seeing." She added in once the swapping was complete. "What about you?"

The swordswoman chuckled at the redhead's swift, biting response. "Oh it's not that bad, it seems like a nice enough place," she replied, though getting that it was just a joke. She took a small glance towards the museum at the end of town, all the way towards the back. She was interested in taking a look at the place, seeing what relics of the past they had on display, but she agreed with her friend's sentiment. They were more or less ready for the next gym, and they could close whatever gap remained while they were en route. It would do good to get them as soon as possible, and raise the cieling on how powerful their pokemon could get.
While they walked towards the other side of town, Sylva made her desires a little more clear, while switching around her team. "Well, I wouldn't mind taking a little time to look around, but I'm willing to hit the road again if you are." Luca brushed back her bangs and straightened her back, primed to move out.

Truth be told, Sylva actually kind of missed the city. Pewter wasn't all that bad, but it lacked the business that allowed for one to remain hidden in plain sight. Spread apart and open, Pewter just wasn't cutting it for Sylva. She hoped the next city was more... cityish. Whatever the case, as they walked Luca mentioned she'd like to stick around a bit longer to look around... Sylva wasn't really interested, but she owed the woman her attention, but then an idea sprung in her mind, a way to possibly get her own way, while seemingly giving in to Luca's. "Well, I mean, it ain't like this place is going anywhere." She chuckled, waving her hands around some. "We can always come back and get a feel of the place when we do hit a dead end as far as progression goes. " Lowering her hands, she motioned forward. "Look, we're already at the next route, and hey, it's grass... I was starting to forget what it looked like." Was it a hook, line and sinker? Perhaps. It wasn't like Sylva had to put this much effort into convincing Luca to move on, given the swordswoman had mentioned she was willing to move on. But, Sylva was feeling theatrical from her high beating the gym.
