Welcome one and all to opening night, on the Gods' Stage. Tonight we will be featuring the Ballad of the Queen, and allow me to introduce your five star cast! Taking the Role of the Cunning One Is the One, The Only, Torien Drake He's only, Twenty-Seven And what a way they have come! Torien was raised by his father, his mother having been of a sickly constitution, and shortly after he was born he was taken from her, to be raised by a wet nurse so his mother could return to the country where the 'summer air' would be better for her lungs. From his earliest predisposition Torien was taught to listen more then speak and think more then act, he is a very cautious soul, and prone to reticence. His father was eager for him to come to court, and garner notice, thinking his natural intelligence would dispose him well toward the councilors who were looking for proteges or assistants in some form, he was greatly disappointed when Torien was scouted by the least of these, the courts head scribe. Torien's schooling at that point increased to the point he moved into the palace, even as his father could not, most nobles at the time lived in lushly furnished houses in the capital and came up to the palace for court. The palace had been designed by kings gone by, none of whom trusted their nobles, but kept them close all the same, and so it was not designed for live in guests but could easily accommodate the entire court's proceedings. Torien was taught the nobles, the land's history, and many languages, and when he turned sixteen his master took him aside and began teaching him other forms of communication, codes, signs, markings that could be distinguished as trails, it was also around this time that Torien was introduced to the king, and his master's true position was revealed, Lord Elkren, was not only the master of the scribes but to those with a need to know, he was the king's spymaster, as he had been for the king before. Elkren had served as the spymaster's apprentice for three kings ago, the one who the current king's father had killed to usurp the bloody throne, over the years the king had changed, but the spymaster had remained ever so faithful to those with power and his position had endured. Torien now rose to that position, he had selected on many factors, and was not the only one to go through the basic training but he had excelled the furthest and had the added bonus of a connection to the illusive Sorceress. Torien, was instructed to keep that bond as strong as possible without being overt and that allowed him many trips back to see his mentor and her lovely daughter. If asked when he had first fallen for Jocelyn, Torien would have to have said it was moment he first saw her, hair like a sunrise framing a young face he could already see would bloom into breath-taking beauty. And as the years passed she treated him as a playmate, his initial shock that she might be so frank as to call him old, melted away in the enjoyment to be had with someone who had no expectations of him, something he had not enjoyed in as long as he could remember. As she grew however, Jocelyn's childhood frankness faded into a reserve to deep and so quiet even Torien was hard pressed to understand it all the time. But in her rare unguarded moments she is as beautiful, inside and out as he could remember from that very first moment. He would never ask her for anything she wasn't willing to give, and part of him despairs he may have lost even that ephemeral connection they had as children, as it has been harder and harder to visit since his master died and he has had to take on the full duties of his position, and he hardly if ever hears from her any more. To think we have some one here on our stage who can Translate and write any code, set snares, traps and distill poisons. I mean it just takes my breath away! But on their behalf we ask that you not, threaten his king, threaten Jocelyn or his family, there are few people in this world he truly loves, and others to whom he is bound by duty but his sense of justice is strong and he will protect them all no matter the cost. And for any young ladies out there who are interested... He likes beautiful things, quiet and peace. His ideal woman would be at home in a scene of small house out in the country, sitting with him in the library rocking a baby while he read aloud to them both; he wants a simple life, but until he finds that peace within himself he will do whatever is needful to find a place where that peace can thrive. And with that I will let our Quiet, Resourceful and Cunning Spymaster Take it away! Let the Show Begin!Okay now this one isn't an accident just a shameless plug lol

The part that I find most tedious is not writing out the beginning posts containing the profiles and such, but formatting it so it looks nice. Ugh.

✗✗ Ahaha. It's BBCode, you'll get it back, don't worry. And besides, guilds are a lot less versatile than the forums.

hey everyone Shattered here and i have an idea for a role play and its been one i have wanted to do for a long time now but i could never gather enough interest around it sadly. crying
the basic premise of the rp is the world is a true meld of magic powered steam punk. magic users have been turned into weapons of war as they are paired with large steam machines that have internal magical cores that the mage connects with to wield in battle along with a few other select spells. now..... i am not going to have that be the only plot to the story but it sets a small stage for you. any opinions or comments would be wonderful. thanks biggrin
