Despite the burn, Tierra had seemed to take that Lava Plume like a champ. The Golem still hadn't uttered a sound, staring down the battlefield at the Typhlosion as though it hadn't just lit up the entire arena with a massive amount of scorching flames. . He glanced across the field at his father, a surge of anger passing through him and he uttered a few choice swearwords under his breath. There was no way in hell that he was going to lose this now and his fingers drumming silently against his thigh as he thought things out. "Tierra, Earthquake," he said, giving the Golem a stern look.

This was easily one of her more powerful attacks and even with her attack power reduced due to her burn, it should be more than enough to take the Volcano Pokemon out. Tierra raised one of her powerful legs, preparing to slam it down on the ground, and as she did so, she and her trainer became aware of a tan and navy blur speeding toward them. The gym floor began to tremble and crack as the Golem sent a massive shock wave through it, but somehow it seemed less impressive (at least to the redhead, anyway) and he thought that perhaps it was also because of her burn.

Typhlosion, on the other hand, continued to race toward the Golem, dodging cracks and avoiding bursts of earth. With one final jump she launched herself at Tierra, swinging a glowing fist for what Keegan guessed was a Brick Break. In a surprising turn of events however, more so than the Typhlosion somehow avoiding damage from the Earthquake, Tierra reached out swiftly and grabbed the offending Pokemon's arm and held it there, staring into the face of the bewildered Fire-type before giving a fierce roar. Setting all her weight back on one foot, Tierra slowly began to spin, gradually building up speed even as Typhlosion struggled to get free. Tierra grabbed her other arm and held it tight as well as her spin continued to pick up momentum, and at this point, not even Keegan knew what she was doing. When it seemed she could speed up no more, Tierra gave a grunt and sent the Volcano Pokemon skyward, and both she and her trainer watched with surprised and satisfaction as it crashed back down again, no longer able to battle.

The noise caused by Miharu's fall had been enough to alert Leroy to her location and he increased his pace, his feet making no sound as he crept closer and closer. He spotted Ariados now as well, and he knew it was just a matter of time before those Pokemon were his. He gave the spider the nod and he scuttled forward, climbing up on a large shipping container in order to gain the higher ground. With a terrifying hiss, it jumped down, intending to pin the girl to the ground, but it hadn't anticipated the two-by-four she'd picked up as a weapon and she came out swinging, catching the bug in the side of the head and sending it crashing against the large metallic container. In the next moment, Banette popped up out of the ground, cackling madly and the girl swung her improvised weapon again, but it went right through the incorporeal Pokemon. "Get away!" she shrieked, swinging the piece of wood again which caused Banette to roar with laughter.

Unfortunately for Leroy, he had the misfortune of not knowing of Miharu's new weapon and as he came up behind her, she spun around quickly and swung the board at him, catching him sharply in the head and causing him to fall heavily to the ground. "Unngh," he groaned, reaching up with a hand to feel the new cut on his head, a sticky warmth flowing over his fingers. "Little b***h," he murmured, ripping a large piece of fabric from his shirt so he could hold it to his wound. "You're going to pay for that!" he shouted after her. Ariados was only now getting up and Lee jabbed a bloody finger at him. "Go!" he snarled. "Use your webbing if you have to, just DON'T. LET. HER. ESCAPE!"

"That was... different," Todd remarked as he recalled Typhlosion, glancing across the field at his son. "What was that? Seismic Toss?"

Keegan's completely awestruck expression was more than enough to indicate that he didn't know for sure, and he shrugged. "Uh, no, I don't think so. I think she was... improvising." Yeah, that seemed like a decent enough explanation: An improvised Seismic Toss. It had been effective enough and Keegan idly wondered if the Golem could actually learn that move as he adjusted his stance again, watching and waiting to see what his father's last Pokemon would be. He seriously hoped that it wouldn't be The Dame, for as old as she was, she was also crazy experienced. The few times he'd seen her in action she'd been breathtakingly amazing, but was she even capable of battling now? If it wasn't The Dame he was about to face, Keegan had the sneaking suspicion that it'd be a Water or Grass-type as it'd be pretty much the perfect, one-hit-KO counter for the Golem and it wasn't like his father had been a Fire-type specialist or anything like that.

Or had he?

Keegan felt as though the joke was on him as he watched his father's third and final Pokemon take shape in front of Tierra, and he couldn't help but laugh out loud. No, it certainly wasn't The Dame, but it was a Pokemon he knew, and he almost fell to his knees as he gazed upon the dual Fire/Fighting-type Blaziken. As Typhlosion was the mother to Riza's little Eris, Blaziken was the mother of the Torchic that Keegan had delivered to Jaeshan what felt like forever ago. It was both hilarious and depressing - hilarious because he was facing yet another Fire-type and depressing because Keegan had absolutely no idea what had happened to any of Jaeshan's Pokemon, and recalling his friend's death had sent a painful jolt through his midsection. Despite his conflicting emotions Keegan somehow managed to pull himself together, mostly because he remembered that a Fighting-type had the ability to flatten a Rock-type and that if he really wanted to win this - which he did - he needed to focus. "R-rock Blast," he choked out, his voice still a bit shaky from his outburst, but it was a command nevertheless and he wiped a random tear from his cheek.

Tierra gave a pained grunt as she reached down and began to haul up chunks of the ground, shooting Blaziken a distasteful look as she began to launch them one by one. Blaziken's expression was one of fierce determination and she looked exactly like a skilled martial artist as she flawlessly sidestepped the barrage of rocks that Tierra threw at her. She was obviously experienced and knew what she was doing, as Todd hadn't so much as said a word to her.
=====
As soon as the two-by-four had made contact with Leroy's head, Miharu's eyes went wide and she dropped the weapon, backing away slowly before she turned and started to run flat out, accidentally stepping "on" Banette as she fled. It seemed like she'd hardly gotten anywhere at all when she heard the sound of Ariados following after her. Tears were openly streaming down her face now and obscuring her vision but she didn't stop. "Help!" she cried, wishing desperately for someone to come and find her; to come and save her from this horrible nightmare. At that very moment in time she wished she'd never left home in the first place, as she wasn't even sure what would happen to her if Leroy actually caught her. "Somebody, please help me!" she screamed again. "Anybody!"

"There's no one out here!" came Leroy's voice from somewhere behind her and she cried out fearfully, stumbling against another shipping container. "Just give up already, Miharu."

She looked around frantically again, certain that he was going to jump out at her again at any moment now. All she could hear was the pounding of her heartbeat in her ears and despite the fact that she was running, she felt chilled to the bone. She hadn't noticed that Banette and Ariados had once again caught up to her as she started forward again, not until she turned and found herself face-to-face with the laughing Ghost-type. Giving another frightened scream she tried to run again, but she didn't get more than a few steps before Ariados let loose a String Shot, tangling the girl's legs and sending her sprawling to the ground. In the process, her head made hard contact against the lip of the pavement, both knocking her unconscious and leaving quite a nasty gash in the process.

"Wait. Blue?" Mike said, raising an eyebrow at the oddly colored Umbreon, then dismissing it. After all, he had a Kecleon with a blue stripe across his chest, so it wasn't too out of the ordinary. Back to the battle!

"Titanium!" the boy cried out. "Start off with a Slam attack on that Kirlia!" Wasting no time, the Steelix slithered forward and raised its massive metallic tail, bringing it down on the Psychic Pokemon.

"Kirlia, dodge it and hit it with a Magical Leaf!" The little Pokemon gracefully spun out of the way, its outward look of serenity inappropriate to the giant wall of death it had just barely dodged. The weight from Titanium's attack shook the gym, leaving a huge crack in the ground. While it twirled, the Kirlia shot out its hands, a prismatic pattern of leaves forming in the air behind it and shooting out towards Titanium. The Steelix flinched, but when the attack connected, it did little more than tickle. Mike laughed. This was going to be brutal. Even as the reflective barrier came up, he knew the Kirlia would run out of energy to dodge long before Titanium did. He looked over and Kasiya and smiled. "After you, my dear."

Oak chuckled as they stepped through the main foyer. "Ah, yes, Beedrill. They are fiercely territorial, particularly when there are young Weedle and Kakuna about. Quite a protective and temperamental sort for certain." The older man prattled on as he led Kressen down a hallway and through a few rooms, and it quickly became apparent that tidiness was not one of Professor Oak's strong suits. Towers of books were balancing precariously against stacks of loose papers and various magazines and pamphlets, and though it appeared to look quite disorganized, it also gave the impression that Oak knew exactly where all the important things were located.

"Right this way, young man," Oak smiled as he pushed open a swinging door, and the two stepped into the main part of the laboratory. Various machines and gadgets littered the counters, many with blinking lights and dials showing different readings and figures. One could only guess what they were even for, but Oak didn't pay them any mind as he passed right by them. "So then, young trainer from Viridian! I can assume you're here for one reason! You're here for your first Pokemon, aren't you?" His grin was impossibly wide and it was easy to see that he truly loved getting new trainers started on their journeys. He'd already pressed a switch on the side of the counter, causing the silvery dome of one of an altar-like object in the middle to slide open with a hiss, revealing three glimmering Pokeballs. "Eh? Eh?" the professor was almost giddy with delight as he gestured to the spheres. "You can choose between Bulbasaur, the Grass-type, Charmander, the Fire-type, and Squirtle, the Water-type! Well, go ahead and pick one!"

"Twilight's special, like Fang!" Kasiya said in reply to Mike's questioning of the Umbreon's blue rings. "Wait. Not that kind of special, but you know what I mean." Meanwhile, the Umbreon's golden eyes went wide at the sight of the giant, metal snake smashing its tail against the ground. Twilight was sure anything crushed beneath the heavy appendage would be done for almost immediately, though the graceful Kirlia had managed to dodge, and quite elegantly at that before launching a counterattack. The Dark-type looked over his shoulder at his trainer, awaiting his first command. "It'd be my pleasure!" she grinned, pointing at the Psi Pokemon. "Get the Kadabra with your Faint Attack!" Kasiya called, and the Dark-type Eeveelution sprinted into action, disappearing for a split second only to reappear behind the Psi Pokemon. He threw himself into the Psychic-type, his body shrouded in darkness.

Maura and her Kadabra were a little more on the ball than the blonde girl and her Umbreon, her stoic smile cracking only a little as she studied her target. Miracle Eye, she thought-spoke to her Pokemon, sensing that the Umbreon's attack had been rather damaging even with the previous Reflect doing its job to block some of it. Having been hit from behind, the Kadabra hopped forward and spun around quickly, holding out his spoon at arm's length as he focused on the Umbreon. "Kadabarah!" he called, the star in the middle of his forehead suddenly shifting into a very creepy third eye. Twilight felt an almost painful chill wrack his body and he shuddered. Kasiya narrowed her eyes, having already picked up on the fact that the girl was telepathically giving commands to her Pokemon. That's totally unfair, she thought angrily, not caring if her thoughts were too loud or offensive to the mind-readers. She'd known the first move to be Reflect, but she had no idea what the second had been, which was what really bothered her, not the telepathy itself.

"Wow," Riza said, giving a nod of approval.

"They're both fast," Ian agreed, and the two trainers grinned. That was about all they had to be happy about as all they could do was Tackle, Scratch and Leer at each other. Riza had discovered that Selena had a special move, and if she could pull it off it'd probably be more than enough to clinch the battle for them. The only thing was finding a good opening to use it. "Leer!" Ian shouted.

"Selena, you use Leer, too!" Riza cried. The two Pokemon, having evaded each other's attacks before now stood about two feet apart, both glaring at the other with narrowed eyes. They stood like that for several moments, neither refusing to give in. "Quick, Selena, Tackle!" Riza called, and the Snivy suddenly charged, bowling the little chimp right over.

"Get up and use Scratch!" Ian called, and the little fire-type hopped back to its feet before swiping at the grass-type, catching her in the side and leaving red marks. It tried to get another one in but the Snivy jumped back, her eyes wide as she watched the Chimchar's every movement. He attacked a few more times and the agile Snivy continued to dodge, though as they were both quite young they were already starting to look a bit winded from all the movements.

The little Elekid gave a cry of frustration, clearly feeling the same way as his trainer and he jumped at the Chansey, hands raised high for his signature x-shaped chop. The bigger, pink Pokemon braced herself for the attack, giving a sharp cry as Kord's strike hit home. "Stay strong, Chansey! It's time for Doubleslap!"

Giving another cry, the Egg Pokemon swiftly reached down and grabbed Kord by the arm and she began to smack him back and forth across the face. The poor Elekid lost count of just how many times he was slapped but they were more than enough to knock him senseless, and as the Chansey set him on the ground, he was definitely seeing stars. "Oh, Kord!" Katie ran over to her fallen little Pokemon and picked him up. Yep, he was definitely out of it, and she sighed. She certainly didn't like losing but she smiled anyway. "Well, we tried," she said, giving a shrug. "Your Chansey is tough, especially with those recovery moves."

"Thank you, Katie," Thea said, giving a slight bow. "Your Elekid is tough too. Why, I don't think he has much longer to wait before he evolves. Come now. Let's get our Pokemon all healed up, shall we?" Thea was a nurse after all and she carried with her a good supply of medicines. Katie watched as Thea's gentle hands and soothing words worked their magic on both Kord and Darla, as for once in her short life, the Solosis kept her attitude in check, and if anything seemed almost sort of fond of her new friend.

Katie thanked the kind woman for treating her Pokemon and the two went their own separate ways, as they were heading in different directions. Katie was on her way to Solaceon while Thea was going back toward Hearthome. Katie couldn't help but dwell on Thea's words, however. Was Kord really close to evolving? She sure hoped so, and the orange haired girl had a bounce in her step as she continued on toward her destination.

The old professor was so far living up to his expectations of being a knowledgeable older man. What some of his old teammates would call a nerd. Not that he minded listening to him prattle on about pokemon. In fact he was a tad jealous at how smart Professor Oak was in his field of study. The red head had been more athletically talented than academically. He rarely had anything over a B or C in certain subjects other than PE.

He nodded as the professor kept speaking and tried to navigate the messy home without knocking anything over with the heavy back pack. It was slow going since the older man had a entire house messier than Kressen's room. Now in the lab he walked even slower afraid to touch anything lest he break it. His younger self would have started pressing all the buttons as soon as he entered the room, but at sixteen he could refrain from touching. Just barely.

Stopping three meters in front of the professor and the poke-balls he blinked at him as the older man offered him some pokemon. "Errr sorry sir. I think you have the wrong idea. I already have three pokemon, one of them in fact a charmander. I don't need to get my starter, I was just hoping to get a pokedex before I go gallivanting off into the world and discover pokemon. If that's not too much to ask for."

"....Oh." The look of disappointment on Oak's face was almost comical and he forced a fake cough before jamming the buttons on the counter again. The dome's top once again slid shut and he closed his eyes, straightening the collar of his lab coat. "Well then," he said, his tone completely back to normal, "let's just pretend that never happened, then." He cleared his throat and studied the redhead. "Three Pokemon already, eh? Not too shabby. And a Charmander, at that. You have good taste, if I do say so myself. But I digress; a PokeDex is probably a trainer's most important piece of equipment. It provides useful data on all kinds of different Pokemon - the moves that they know and learn, species information, type data, habitat. It also gives plenty of useful information for trainers."

He excused himself and stepped into a small room off to the side. A few moments passed before the older man returned, a new-looking PokeDex in his hand. He'd activated it before clicking it into a slot on a computer so that he could properly register it for it's new owner, prompting the redhead for various information in the process. When all the data had been entered there was a few moments of waiting before it beeped to signal that it was done, and he handed it to Kressen. "There you go, my boy! A brand-new PokeDex, as requested. I'm more than certain that you'll find it quite useful."

As the battle between Keegan and his father waged on, Flannery had become quite engrossed in it, having more or less forgotten that she was supposed to be acting as the referee. She was definitely late in calling Mr Summers' first Pokemon unable to battle, but she was spot-on for Loki, even after cringing quite noticeably at how the Arbok had been roasted to a crisp by the Typhlosion's Overheat. Why haven't I raised a Cyndaquil or Torchic? the gym leader thought, having been completely impressed with the Volcano Pokemon, and the Blaze Pokemon was already looking quite impressive as well, even if she'd only just dodged Tierra's Rock Blast so far.

Flannery hadn't forgotten her gym battle against Keegan, and watching the fellow redhead now, she could see that he'd gotten a lot better since then and she was quite proud to have given him a Heat Badge. If anything, watching him battling now was making her want to challenge him to a rematch. She'd shirked all her training for the day anyway and the thought of a heated battle, especially with one of her best friends was definitely just the thing she needed to get back on track.

Kressen mirrored the Professor's actions and faked a cough as well to disguise his laugh. It wasn't hard to see why Oak had thought he was here to get his starter, but it was funny all the same. Heart warming as well to see how excited he got over helping trainers begin their journey out into the world. Still grinning he listened to Oak speak on the uses of the pokedex and how much it would help him on his journey.

It was exactly why he had come to get the handy device. He took a hold of the small red device with a nod."Thank you sir. I really appreciate you giving me this...Does it come with a manual or something? I've never been great with technology and I'd rather not break it when I use it to check out Odin my Pawniard. The lil dude simply fell out of the sky and into my hands."

A rare swearword escaped Jasper's lips as he stared, wide-eyed at Totodile's new form. It was pretty safe to say that this was the last thing he was expecting, but that didn't make it any less cool. His smirk was impossibly wide and he raised a hand to steady Zorua, who was still perched atop his head, yipping loudly. It seemed that the gator's evolution was more exciting for the little fox than for the water type herself. 'So that's what it's like when Pokemon evolve,' Jasper thought, once again reaching for his Pokedex. The Arbok had backed off considerably now that its opponent had undergone a sudden growth spurt, and the water type lunged forward, leaving a trail of deep cuts on its belly from a nasty Scratch attack. The Cobra Pokemon gave a squeal of pain before deciding to cut its losses and it turned, disappearing into the tall grass.

The silence following the poison type's departure was almost deafening in comparison to the hisses and sounds of battle, and both Zorua and the gator jumped when Jasper's Pokedex broke it, rattling off the evolved water type's name and a bit of information about it. "Croconaw, huh?" Jasper murmured, snapping the device shut before he stuffed it back in his pocket. "You're more or less just a bigger version of what you were before, only with more biting power." Croconaw flashed a toothy grin and snapped her jaws a few times, definitely all right with that description. Zorua was quite delighted with her teammate's transformation as well, hopping down from her trainer's head to circle the now-larger gator. This change was all well and good, thought the little fox, but how come Totodile wasn't changing back? The dark type did a frontward flip and used her Illusion ability to imitate Croconaw's new form for a couple of moments before shifting back to Totodile, and she pointed at herself and waved her arms expectantly, much to the real gator's confusion.

"Oh," Jasper sighed, picking up on Zorua's meaning relatively quickly, and he knelt down beside the disguised fox. "Totodile's a Croconaw now. She evolved, and she can't go back to the form she was before. Sorry to disappoint you, Zorua," he said. The fox shifted back to normal as she pondered this, looking at her teammate with dismay. Couldn't change back? Where was the fun in that? Zorua plopped down onto her behind and pouted. If that's what evolution meant - not being able to change back to what she was before - then she didn't want to have anything to do with it!

Jasper sighed again, standing up as he eyed the obstinate dark type. "Let's get a move on to Violet City. I need a belt or something for you guys' Pokeballs." He smirked a bit as he and his two Pokemon wandered along. He'd certainly gotten lucky that time, but a small part of him couldn't help but wonder what would happen to him if that good luck were to ever run out.

Hayley had managed to get in several great sketches of the infamous little mouse Pokemon by the time it was too dark to see, as the fire from her little campsite wasn't quite enough to go by. She was no longer sure of just how late it was, but the day had been long and the brunette was ready to retire for the night. She changed into her pajamas and spread out her sleeping bag, watching as the Pokemon got themselves ready for the night as well. The Pikachu, meanwhile, watched everyone with a critical eye, her ears and tail twitching as she tried to understand what was going on. "Pika?" she asked, tugging on the leg of Hayley's pajamas. "Pi pikachu?"

"It's bedtime," the girl answered, bending down to pat the mouse on the head. "You're more than welcome to stay with us overnight if you'd like. Tomorrow I'll be making my way toward Pewter City."

The mouse jumped back, shaking her head. What was going on here? This girl had been so excited to find her - a very rare and elusive Pikachu - and so far, she hadn't even tried to capture her! The girl had only wanted to study and draw her, and frankly, the little mouse was rather perturbed. "Pikachu," she sighed, giving her head a shake before darting off to the treeline. She looked back at Cynder and the others, gave a little scoff and then disappeared out of sight.

"It was nice to meet you, Pikachu!" Hayley called after the mouse, clearly oblivious to the its annoyance. "Okay gang, let's get ourselves settled for the night."

"Special like Powalski, not Beacon. Got it!" Mike looked over at the meddlesome Kadabra, who was somehow affecting Twilight with his attacks-something which the boy was positive shouldn't be happening. He also noticed that the Pokemon was attacking without its trainer verbally issuing commends. "Psychics." Mike growled, taking sudden offense to both the girl and Kadabra despite the fact that he used an identical strategy with Portabello. Besides, it was messing up Kasiya's Pokemon, and that simply would not fly. He ordered Titanium to flatten the telekinetic under his steel tail; the Pokemon, not the trainer. Reflect or not, that cat-thing was going down!

Titanium turned to face his new target, another set of Magical Leaves harmlessly bouncing off the side of his head. The Steelix swung out his tail, aiming to flick the pesky Kadabra against the wall.

Chimchar dug his foot into the dirt and swept it over a few inches in a crescent moon shape, holding his fists up in the air with two fingers outstretched on each hand. A scowl appeared on his face and flames began to encircle him. "ChiiiiCHA!" he jumped and slammed one flaming foot into the male Geodude's face. While the damage wasn't too impressive, the force was enough to break the two apart. As he hit the ground, the female went for a Tackle, striking directly into Chimchar's back. The simian crashed into the dirt and slid a few feet before regaining his composure. "Chiii..." he panted, glancing over his shoulder. The boy rock (and who could really tell the difference?) began readying himself for his own Tackle. The two rocks flew through the air at an impressive speed.

"Jump, now!" Kilik called out.

With a grunt, the chimp hopped up into the air and landed by Kilik's side as the two Geodude crashed into each other. It wasn't nearly enough to knock the two out. Growling, Chimchar kicked the ground and dashed forward with his fists outstretched. With the two in one spot, he could attack easily! A Brick Break for the both of them. And while his attack connected with the female, the male Geodude moved out of the way in the nick of time. Tired and sick of this battle, the female threw her arms up into the air and floated away.

Kilik laughed to himself, leaning against Cable, getting a little of the yeti's warmth in the cold cave. The look on the male Geodude's face was rather comical. It was as if the two were having a lover's feud over the battle and the girl was an upset wife who was sick of the shenanigans her boyfriend was getting into. He checked his Poketch; he wasn't in here for a very long time and yet he was already feeling pretty tired. Maybe it was time to tuck in for the night and start it back up in the morning. Klink floated down by his trainer's face and quietly began whirring. The boy bit his lip and let out a light whistle. "Chimchar, finish this up! It's bed time!"

The ape glanced back at his trainer and grit his teeth. What a lazy bum! Wanting to rest at a time like this! Chimchar jumped up and landed on top of the Geodude left behind and began to pummel the top of its head...face...body with a multitude of Brick Break attacks until he felt the large rocky hands around his torso. "Chii!" he felt himself get thrown, and suddenly caught in Kilik's arms. He immediately jumped back to the cave's floor and flared up his tail.

"Relax," the tall boy knelt down and put a hand on top of his Chimchar's head. "We'll come back tomorrow. Or we can pit you against Drifloon." He smiled, "I know you want to be like Genki. But that will take time and serious training. So unless you want to go toe-to-toe with Cable or Aggron," he laughed, "you need to take it slow."
PostPosted: Tue Feb 19, 2013 11:14 am

Kilik recalled the Chimchar into its ball, as well as his Klink. On the off chance someone wanted to battle, no sense in freaking them out with a strange new Pokemon. He turned and started walking out of the cave with Cable by his side, running over the possibilities he had against Roark. He could very well go in there with guns ablazin' with Cable and Aggron, but where was the fun in that? Katie had mentioned he used Rock-types. Well, Grovyle was an easy choice and evolving Chimchar would be essential. He mulled over the rest of the Pokemon he had back home, but they were all much too strong to make the first Sinnoh gym an actual challenge. "I could use Sudowoodo?" he thought, scratching the back of his head as he walked. "She's not too high level is she?" Though she was quite the attention seeker and would more than likely make the battle more of a chore than anything else. "And Ludicolo is pretty up there as far as levels go..." he paused and looked up at Cable, as if the Electivire would be able to offer some form of insight. When none came, Kilik sighed. Relying on two Pokemon in a Gym Battle was probably a bad idea.

"And while Steel-types are good against Rock-types," he said to no one in particular, "Klink has a long way to go before he's ready to battle. And forget using Drifloon, Flying-types don't stand a chance. Maybe Roark will just do a two-on-two battle." He took out his PokeDex and started rolling through it, reading up on Monferno; they evolve relatively early and earn a Fighting-type move upon evolution. And it should be enough to handle Roark. "Mach Punch, huh? He'll be moving so fast, Roark won't be able to touch him!" The boy laughed heartily as he put the device back in his pocket. With all this spacing out and thinking, it wasn't long until he reached the Pokemon Center. He handed the Nurse his Pokemon and headed to the cafeteria, piling on sandwiches and slices of pizza on his plate.

The boy stuffed his face as always, leaning back on his chair to pat his stomach. "Ah, delicious!" It felt like it had been ages since he had last eaten. Across from him was the empty seat that Katie had been sitting in when they had gotten here. He began wondering how she was doing. Did she make it to where she wanted to go? She'd seemed rather reluctant to tell him exactly what she was aiming for, though it wasn't like he was very clear either. "Maybe..." he checked his watch. It was really late. "She's probably out like a light. I'll text her in the morning." He stood up and stretched. Exhaustion hit him like a ton of bricks and he headed to bed, curling up beneath the warm blanket.

Cable sat next to Kilik's bed, letting out a mighty yawn. He planted his fists on the ground and sat with his feet touching together. The yeti closed his eyes and began drifting off to sleep.

In his dreams, he could see himself fighting in a large stadium. It was just him and Kilik! He wasn't exactly sure where he was, but the roar of thousands of people was ringing in his ears. Before him was a collection of trainers he knew. That guy with Napalm! The blonde girl who used Vaporeon! Another Electivire, which he knew had to be Kord, judging by the orange haired girl beside him. When he felt Kilik touch his shoulder, he looked down and gave him a nod. This was it, right? He had to prove himself against all these trainers! There were a multitude more trainers behind them, each hidden in shadows. But with the two of them, there was nothing they couldn't accomplish!

Meanwhile, Kilik was having a much different dream. There was a lot of chaos, people screaming. Was this a dream about the beach party? No, Slateport was much...sandier. This place was much brighter; at least, it seemed so. There was a bright light in front of him, which seemed inviting. The screams said otherwise. He could hear a laugh too, a familiar one. Yet his dream was distorting the sound, making it impossible to pinpoint where or who it was coming from. Suddenly, the ground beneath him shook and pillars of lava and water began shooting up into the air. Time began to slow to an unbearable crawl and the space around him shifted. He shot up in a cold sweat, panting heavily. He put a hand on his forehead and groaned, gritting his teeth. It was just a bad dream but it felt much more ominous than that. He'd leave it in the back of his mind for now; Kilik looked over to see Cable still sleeping and the sun had not even risen yet. Plopping his head back down on the pillow, Kilik sighed and attempted to return to sleep.

When the boy woke up the next morning, well rested despite his nightmare, he found it was already rather late in the day. 11:34 AM to be exact. After burning some much valuable training time, he got ready as quickly as he could. He was thankful he fell asleep in his clothes and that styling his hair was as easy as running a comb through it twice. Cable was beginning to get up when Kilik was ready to head out the door. "Let's go, lazy bones!" He swung the door open and walked by the receptionist, taking his Pokemon with him. "Wait a minute," he turned and immediately made a beeline for the cafeteria, grabbing a few bits of cold toast and jelly to shove down his throat before really leaving the Center. He could continue his training in the Oreburgh Gate, taking down Geodude and Zubat for a few measly points of experience or put Chimchar up against one of his other Pokemon and really get the best out of his time. "Alright, then! Chimchar, Drifloon! Let's go!"

The balloon Pokemon hovered about for a moment before silently landing on top of Kilik's head, covering his trainer's eyes. He floated away when he heard his trainer laugh and glanced down at the ground at a rather unhappy looking Chimchar.

"Alright you two," Kilik said, standing on the outside wall of the Oreburgh Gate. "It's time for a little one on one training. Drifloon, I want you to focus on dodging. And Chimchar, you're to focus on your aim." While it wasn't the greatest concept, and certainly not even close to how his fight with Roark would play out, it was still a necessary strategy. Perhaps he'd get some battles in with a few stray Geodude to really simulate the experience. As the session started, Chimchar began blasting Ember from his mouth, aiming directly at the purple balloon who was effortlessly dodging everything. Drifloon was incredibly nimble when he wanted to be, despite his apathetic attitude towards pretty much everything. When Chimchar fired left, he'd float right and vice versa. Kilik could sense Chimchar getting frustrated that all of his attacks were missing, but it hit the boiling point when the little ape jumped into the air and went for a Blaze Kick!

Drifloon floated effortlessly out of the way, wrapping his strings around the simian's ankle before throwing him back down to the ground. He inflated himself and let out a few short bursts of air that could almost pass as a chuckle. He looked down at Kilik who was now coaching the little tantrum thrower. The balloon was wondering what master was telling him...perhaps a way to not miss all of the time?

Chimchar kept his eyes on the balloon, spitting out another flash of Embers. And when the moment came and Drifloon floated to the right to dodge them, Chimchar was there! He crashed into the balloon with a burning Blaze Kick...and bounced off of the balloon as if it had done nothing. He hit the ground with a bit of a grunt and quickly got on all fours, body tensing. Chimchar grit his teeth together and his tail began to flare up.

"Hey hey!" Kilik clapped his hands, "Bring it down a little, Chimchar. You're getting worked up over nothing. It'll take more than a Blaze Kick to make Drifloon pop. You just gotta work on it a little more. But," he smiled, kneeling down and patted him on the head, "That Ember looked great! You're definitely getting stronger." He'd hoped that would at least brighten the little simian's day.

The female psychic's eyes went wide when the boy changed his Steelix's target to her Kadabra. Teleport! she thought frantically, watching fearfully as the Iron Snake Pokemon's massive tail was heading dangerously toward her Kadabra. The Psychic-type made a fearful noise, its hands flying up as Titanium's tail obscured it from vision, and there was a slight thudding sound. When the Steelix's tail moved, there was no sign of the Kadabra anywhere, though a second or so later it reappeared but not before flying back a good distance into the far wall. Evidently, the Reflect hadn't done a thing for it. "Oh, my," was all she could say as she recalled the Psi Pokemon, frowning slightly, but only for a quick moment as it changed to a smile. She wasn't so sure that Tate and Liza could handle these two trainers, but regardless it would be fun to watch as she sent out her second Pokemon, an odd-looking bird - a Xatu. Use Confuse Ray on the Steelix, she directed, causing the Mystic Pokemon to raise its wings and emit an odd pattern of lights.

Twilight, meanwhile, continued to try and shake off the eerie feeling. He couldn't explain it, but he suddenly felt very, very vulnerable. He growled, ears flattened against his head as he waited for his command. "Hit the Kirlia with Faint Attack!" Kasiya called, feeling a rush of excitement as their first opponent was down. They were one step closer to claiming their... heart-shaped, whatever it was badge, and she grinned, watching intently as Twilight vanished in a wisp of darkness, reappearing behind the Kirlia a moment later before lashing out with a sucker punch.

"A manual?" Oak repeated, looking a tad confused. "Eh, well, not really. There should be a help section built right in. Just press the white button - no, not that one - yes, that one, right there! There, it has a how-to and a whole user guide. Just, don't forget to charge the battery now and then and you should be all set." In order to make Kressen feel a little more prepared, he ran through the basic functions, prattling on and on and only managing to get off topic only a few times.

"Of course, if you have any other concerns, you can call me at any time, as well. And that goes for just about anything else you can think of, not just PokeDex-related questions." At that point, he looked expectantly at the tall redhead, as though expecting him to ask a question right then and there.

"That's...unfortunate." Preston blinked as he saw Maura's Kadabra become a wall ornament. With an attack like that, he was wondering what these people were even doing here. They seemed a bit overqualified. Nevertheless, it was his job to properly test trainers before they battled Tate and Liza, and that was what he was going to do. The Psychic eyed the Umbreon, which had reappeared behind Kirlia and kicked him in the back. The Emotion Pokemon grit her teeth at the pain. The Reflect seemed to have petered out. Preston didn't lose his cool. He knew that Maura had hit it with Miracle Eye, so it would be vulnerable to Kirlia's most powerful attacks. "Psychic, Kirlia!" To be honest, it felt a bit strange to say that to a Dark Pokemon. Kirlia reached out with her mind, grabbing the fox and slamming it against the ground.

Mike frowned at the new Pokemon's attack. A confused Titanium would cause some pretty hilarious damage, but so would his second choice. "Return, Titanium!" he recalled the Steelix, pulling out another Pokeball. "Good luck trying to confuse this one!" he cheered, opening the device and releasing Beacon. Both wore matching dumb smiles as the Ampharos threw out his flippers and honked, announcing his glorious presence.
