That didn't make any sense to Earendil ... the thought that Donovan giving him such a hard time was a good thing was making his brain hurt. He looked at Kara, wondering what kind of a person took so much joy out of causing others so much trouble, but before he could ask her any more questions, she was gone.
With a sigh, he rubbed his forehead with his thumb and forefinger. Why did things have to be so complicated?
His mind was too busy for sleep now. Instead of heading back to the house, he sat down under a tree and gazed up at the stars as his thoughts overtook him.

Night passed and morning came, Lin woke up to the new day wondering if things would get easier for Earendil or harder. He really didn't seem to have liked yesterday that much which was a pity.
Sliding out of bed she got ready for the day, cleaning and clothing both herself and Miyuki before taking her daughter back downstairs to the dining room.
Her parents were already there, which was to be expected but she was looking for Earendil.

Haldia was also in the dining room, and she had already finished eating. She waved at Lin as she entered and called out, "Good morning!"
Of course, for her, Lin was the first one who had shown up who she could speak with, since her Common Tongue was still terrible, and no one else present spoke her language.

"Good morning," Lin replied back with a smile.
She was holding Miyuki instead of having the baby in her carrier, so she could look around more. Miyuki was, as active as ever.
"Where's Earendil?"

Haldia shrugged. "I don't think he came in last night," she replied. "His room is next to mine, and I did not hear him at all. And the bed was neat when I passed his door on my way down for breakfast."
She hadn't given it a second thought until now, but Haradhel hadn't seen him that morning either. Maybe he hadn't come back from his walk.
She turned to Kara. "Did he come back with you last night?" she asked, trusting that Lin would translate for her.

"Mom, Haldia wants to know if Earendil came back with you last night," Lin frowned wondering what happened.
It wasn't like Earendil to stay out like that. At least as far as she knew.
Kara looked thoughtful, "No, I went back before he did to check on your father and the twins."
Honestly she didn't think their talk would have bothered him that much.

Haldia was only mildly worried about him. After all, her people lived in the night, to her there was nothing to fear.
"Should we go look for him, do you think?" she asked Lin, trying to be helpful. "We can take Rhiel and search from the sky, that will go faster."

The only thing that was keeping Lin from freaking out was the fact the area would be patrolled during the night.
"We should," Lin murmured, "Just in case..."

Haldia nodded and rose from her seat. "I'm ready," she told Lin. "Are you going to take Miyuki? I know we took her a few times flying already, but that was just going from one place to another, this will be a bit different, I think."
Significantly more dipping, and possibly a difficult landing, at the least.

"Mom...." Lin turned to her mother.
Kara smiled softly and held out her arm, "Give me Miyuki, I'm sure we'll survive with three babes for the small while you're gone. Just make sure he's alright."
Lin smiled thankfully as she gave Miyuki over to her mother and rose from her seat.
"Let's go then."

Haldia nodded and headed for the door, moving quickly since she knew Lin was worried. The moment she was outside, she summoned her roc and climbed up onto her back. She held a hand down to help Lin up.
"Do you know which direction they went last night?" she asked anxiously. "I know he wouldn't necessarily be in that same direction still, but it would give us a place to start."

"Knowing mother, since I would assume she was leading since Earendil doesn't know the way," Lin pointed down to the path as she used her other hand to help herself up, "They would take that path. So hopefully he didn't deviate from that path too much."
At least she hoped he didn't, but again she reminded herself, there were fighters patrolling the area he would be fine.

Haldia nodded, and as soon as Lin was sitting, she urged Rhiel into the air. The roc leapt up and spread her wings, and within seconds they were above the trees. She took them a bit higher so that they could see further, but not so far that they wouldn't be able to see him on the ground.
"I just hope he isn't under the trees," Haldia called back to Lin. "It is difficult to see through them ..."

Lin frowned at that, "But the problem is, if he did decide to sleep out here he would be under a tree."
Best case was that he decided to sleep outside, but Lin couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance, because surely he must know people would be worried about him if he didn't come back.
It wasn't like this place was a hundred percent safe after all.

"Think positively," Haldia smiled. "Even if he did sleep outside, he would already be awake, yes? He has never slept past the rising of the sun."
He could simply have been up very early and gone out for some reason.
