Star paused a moment, looking rather worried at the news. "What...um...what exactly are they doing? I mean, are they like busting into buildings and stuff or just rounding up people on the streets?"

Star paused a moment and stared blankly at the woman.
'Well s**t.' she thought to herself. That meant that the kids she left in the school aren't exactly safe, right? And Peter...erm, Spider-Man would rather they were safe. She was serious about trying to be good and hang out...but this hero stuff was a pain in the a**.
"Awesome. That means I'll have to go check up on a couple people soon."

Jeeze this girl was a stiff. Bo-ring.
"Yeah, so...should probably get ready to go do that." she said with a small sigh as she turned to walk out of the room. Ugh. She needed something to do. Well, besides what she was about to do. Something fun. Maybe blowing up bots would be fun. Or not...she still had to do some work on the school...erm...well...that was probably not a priority now either.
Bleh.

Yuriko watched the girl go using her online systems analyze Gold Star. The Japanese noblewoman knew there was more to this girl, otherwise, she wouldn't be in this..... strange place.

As Star was walking away, she opened up her telepathy again to try and read the woman's mind. Not that she expected to get much from Miss-no-fun.
Still....what was she doing here? She didn't really LOOK like a hero, and the Spider that had left a moment ago wasn't exactly boy-scout material. So...safe to say she wasn't either.

Lady Deathstrike analyzed Gold Star's DNA. And just when she noticed the analysis and saw .... telepath... And the power was being directed at her. That sudden realization jolted Yuriko, suddenly moving directly at Gold Star as if to strike. Fury almost overtook the cyborg; however, she barely kept her control and practically spat at the girl, "Kindly keep your thoughts out of my head. My thoughts and my privacy belong to me, and no one else."

Star turned to look at the woman. About the same time the woman had realized that Star was in her head...SHE had realized that Deathstrike was doing a read on her.
Star smiled politely, though a tad smugly. "Sorry...I'm supposed to help be on guard. Strangers get a quick read to make sure we don't have enemies in the house." she lied. The next words out of her mouth were coated thickly with ice. "Though I suppose the privacy thing could go both way's, eh? I don't exactly like being poked at either."
Personal reasons. VERY personal reasons. Especially if she was reading her DNA. Besides powers...there wouldn't be much variety to her. She'd KILL the next person that commented on it. She swore she would.

Deathstrike read Gold Star's body language, and realized that she wasn't quite getting the truth from this youth. Yuriko countered with logic, "If you where monitoring those coming in, you would have been closer to the door when I entered. I looked when you acted... odd, and I wanted to know what I was dealing with. So, how long where you 'digging around'?"

"Sweetie, I can read everyone in the entire house from the bathroom. I don't need to be near the door to guard it. As for the digging around, I just started. When you came in, you wanted to talk to Ed---erm, the other Spider-Man, so it was safe to say you weren't in here just to cause trouble. You weren't much of a talker, so I thought I'd scan you on my way out to make sure it was just because you weren't a talker." Star replied, not touching why she acted odd.

Deathstrike arched an eyebrow, "'Sweetie'? I don't believe that I've ever been accused of that. 'Ed' invited me here, and I am a guest in this house. Also, I do appreciate being able to get out of the line of fire. However, just because I kept relatively quiet wasn't an invitation to go probing one's head. I've lost a lot in my life, and .... "
Gold Star got a brief flash of a time when Deathstrike was directly controlled like a marionette by Spiral through her own cybernetics...
Yuriko had paused at the pain of the memory, "And I value my independence."

Star hesitated a moment, her tension relaxing just a bit after the mental flash.
"Yeah, well....trust issues." she replied, the ice gone from her voice as well. Serious trust issues.
The fact that she was even trying to play the good girl to hang out with heroes should have been mind-blowing. But, she was trying to...get over things just a bit.
