"Triton told me a bit about their son and daughter... unless there's another?" Lin wasn't sure how long it had been since Triton's visit.
Of course she had already heard of the princess, Elros had told her about the little girl, and Triton said she was just like Lothiriel in many ways. Gift included, which amused Lin.

"Not that we know of," Ulani shrugged, "though it's been a few years since we've heard from them. Who knows what could have changed?"
"Considering their duties," Ulrich nodded thoughtfully, "it could still just be the two children. Amora and Pengolodh." Or Little Pen, as he was jokingly referred to here in the valley.

"I'll just have to find out then," Lin murmured thoughtfully.
A visit was going to be long over due, she thought to herself.
"Then I'll have to tell you, but you'll probably know before I get to if anything has changed."

Ulani nodded. "That's where Serenity and Beren are right now," she told Lin, "so yes ... probably. And actually, I think it would be a good idea for me and Ulrich to head out that way as well. To see them, yes, and also to see how Elros is settled into his new position."
She had to admit, even though she hadn't spent a lot of time with the man, she sort of missed him. Everyone did, she thought.

Yes, that was the most important thing was to see Elros, it had been so long now. Well, five years give or take a few actually, but still it was a long time.
"Yea, it'll be great seeing him again," Lin replied.
Who knew maybe she would see them there she was going to leave for the Eastland the day after.

"All of them," Ulani smiled.
Throughout the entire conversation, Ruran had looked mildly interested, but there was one question now that was rattling around in his brain, one question to which he wanted to know the answer.
"What duties would keep them from having more kids?" he asked curiously.

Lin paused for a moment in that and looked thoughtful. Afterall to everyone else it was no secret that Lothiriel and Pen (Estel) were Queen and King of the Eastland.
"Hmm... I'm not sure how to describe that," she glanced at Celebor for help."

Celebor looked thoughtfull, trying to decide just how much to tell Ruran. On the one hand, it wasn't as if Pen and Lothirel's position there had any bearing on them here, not in the same way that Atalya's queenship did in the Southland. And maybe if he did tell the boy, then Ruran would actually begin to behave, at least somewhat.
"Our cousins, Estel and Lothiriel," he said finally, "are King and Queen of the Eastland. You will not be visiting them, however, until you know how to behave yourself ... at all times." He raised one eyebrow and looked at Ruran to make his point.
Ruran's eyes grew wide, and he nodded thoughtfully. Maybe this would be something worth working towards ...

Well that seemed to have gone well, though Lin couldn't help but wonder what Ruran was thinking. It was hard to tell at times, but then again Lin hadn't known Ruran for very long.
"Eastland is desert right?" Lin asked Ulrich and Ulani.

"Mostly," Ulani nodded, "though New Kaliningrad is built on an oasis ... I've never been there, so I don't know what it looks like, but I imagine it must be quite beautiful."
"They have flowers that don't grow here," Ulrich added, "since our soil is too rich, if you can believe that." He chuckled softly. "It's amazing, that there are plants that can grow in sand ..."

She wondered if she should bring back plant samples for Yukiko but the soil at home was sort of like the Borderlands, rich. Lin tried to recall the sort of unusual flowers in the Southland but they didn't seem too unusual.
"I'll need to stay there for a few days," she finally replied, "Just so I can see what it's like."

For a moment, Ulrich just grinned, and then he laughed heartily. "Lin," he chuckled, "we wouldn't expect anything less from you."
Ulani laughed softly. Indeed, it would be more surprising if Lin said she was going to visit somewhere and didn't stay more than a week.

She wasn't that predictable was she? Lin blushed at that, what could she say? She liked to be in other places, and she was just simply so use to the freedom of being nearly anywhere.
Lin blushed, "I should have figured, I'm always going somewhere."
Most well traveled, and mainly unsupervised.

"You are," Ulani agreed. "To be fair, you talk a lot about your travels - past and future. If you ever settle into one place, I'll be amazed. That's all I can say about it."
She couldn't help but wonder just how much time Lin spent at home, even when she was in her own world for days or even weeks at a time.

Well, she would like to settle eventually she supposed but this was where everything she knew was, and they were all spread out now. Of course, Lin also figured it would be a long time before she would have to really think about it.
The dinner passed smoothly, and without any issues. Though Lin couldn't help but be curious as to what happened to Ruran and how well the lesson would stick. She and Miyu of course would stay as long as Miyu was needed for the health of the children.
This would leave Lin with idle time, to play with the children of course.
