"Hey," he said. "Maybe you could make a delivery for me someday...I'll pay handsomely, I'll make sure you're not working too hard, and you can still support yourself and that kid brother of yours that you mentioned? If not, I still won't be completely offended to have you go and not take up the offer. But the least of all that I can do is get the check and let you off." He showed a bit of nervousness waiting for his plan to work.
As he rose from his seat, he was confronted by a group of three kids. "Hey, Charles!" One said. "Been studying hard?" Said another. "Make sure you don't get on Professor Greeburg's bad side, you know you've got to make it through his class before you can go off and start your own business," one even commented. Rick took one look at them, and responded, "Hey, can't you see I'm with my lady friend? I'm just taking a night off, you know. I don't get many, I thought this should be special." The all joined in a group "Oohhh" and gave smirks and little gestures and comments. Rick blushed. "Later, Charles!" with that they took a separate table.

"I will never turn down a customer. She reached in a bag and took out a small piece of paper, then wrote her cell number on it with her name and handed it to him. "I will also never turn down a friend." she smiled though it vanished as she heard someone start walking up. Cat blinked at the group of kids. It certainly helped to justify his story with everything they said. Once they left Cat gave a smirk. "I guess I should let you get back to your studies then. I feel a bit guilty for leaving you with the bill."

"It's no problem, really. I'm taking a night off, so I'm just making the best of it. I really didn't mind any of this, even the bill. I actually really enjoyed myself tonight. I just hope that you did the same."

"Yes, I will keep that in mind." The waiter came by, "Hey could I just get the check?"
"Certainly. Would you like me to put it on your tab?"
"That would be great, Hans."
"After appetizer mints for the two of you?" He said with a laugh of sorts.
Rick chuckled. "Sure, I'll take two. And Cat, would you like me to accompany you to your destination?"

Cat looked at her watch. "Thanks for the offer, but I'll be making a run for home to grab my skates, which I'll need to make this delivery. I have to head to teh other side of town to pick it up then come back over to this side to drop it off." She smiled. "If you think you can keep up though your welcome to try." she teased in sort of challenging manner. Her watch started to beep again, this time as a warning that she was running out of time. "Eh, I really have to go now. Thank you again Charles, really. I hope to talk to you again sometime." she wasn't trying to be rude but she really did have to get moving, and so headed for the door.

"How about I just make the delivery for you?" He popped the bottom of his shoes, revealing that he had retractable skates on the bottom of his shoes. "It's been too long, I'm starting to really feel as though I'm not as spry as I used to be." He smiled. "Oh, and I could definitely keep up with you" he teased.

Cat paused as she got to teh door. Turning toward him she smirked. "You wanna make it a race?" she offered. "I still have to go get my skates. But we can start at my apartment."

"Let's not chance it. How about you just tell me where it needs to go, and I'll rush it there as soon as I can. Then we can worry about trivial things like how much I'll beat you." He gave a sly, daring, but kind smile to her, completely confident in his ability, but still to say even though he wanted to beat her, he still liked her--that they were still friends.

"I think I rather race you and prove that I can and will beat you. I am quite proud of the fact that I have yet to miss a drop time, regardless of teh circumstances." She opened teh door. "Follow me if you want to still. I'm not giving up the delivery." she smiled and with that walked out of teh restraunt and started running for home, which luckily wasn't too far.

Rick followed, not yet resorting to the skates. "Alright, then. Here I go!" He quickly started running. He hadn't been out and about in a while, this was going to be beneficial. His appearance wasn't the only thing abnormally young about him: his body still could be ridden hard like some early teen or kid. He also had a great energy level for his age, maybe even for the age he looked to be. He stayed behind just a second and to the left of her keeping up the conversation easily. "So who gets this delivery?"

"I'm making the delivery, as it's my job, we'll race to the pick up and drop point though." She turned down a street and turned once again into teh doorway of the apartment building.
Caleb opened the door before Cat could reach for the handle and handed her her skates and the information for the delivery. "You'd better hurry up Cat. Your going to cut it real close." he informed her.
Cat nodded and quickly pulled teh skates on, activating the motors. Taking teh paper she smiled. "Thanks Caleb. I'll be back real soon alright." She ruffled his hair then went back out to the street and handed Charles the paper. "The first address is the pick up point, the second is the drop off." There was a low hum coming from her skates by this point. "Ready when you are."

Rick's eyes widened as the heat increased. His pupils widened, and the smile on his face turned to a very serious and excited smirk. "Electric, huh? Well I'll make a bet with you. If I can beat you without the motor on my skates while you are using yours, then you have to kiss me." He would get enough thrill out of the race itself, but to win the prize would be an added bonus. There were two additional reasons he wasn't going to use the motors. One, obviously, to protect his secret.

This sounded too much like as et up to Cat, but she wasn't one to pass up a challenge. "Your on." She pressed down lightly on her heels, the motor buzzing a bit more loudly. "Ready, Set...........Go!" As soon as she has said go she had released the pressure in her heel and shot off down the street and was already taking teh corner at a speed greater then most cars.

"Ah, shoot...This was just a bit more than I was expecting." His leg twisted to the side a bit as he gave a kick-off from the ground, then riding along on the wheels of the next foot. It was a great burst of speed, and was quite a difficult technique. Also, the way the skates were designed, the wheels locked up with enough pressure, thus giving him the ability to run as a start then glide the rest with each switch of the foot. It was a bad time to mention he was a good runner. The way he was able to do this allowed for him to reach higher speeds than any other skates, with the exception of motorized ones. To add electricity to the equation would greatly supplement his own speeds to almost dangerous proportions, but even that wasn't his reason.
