Kinetic Dream So, after dinner today... Kin's Mom: I caught this spider a few days ago, and let it out today, thinking it was dead. It started scampering away, but I caught it. Kin: Really? So there's going to be food people are bringing, and I ended up making oatmeal scotchies which are apparently not easy to make. The first pan didn't turn out so good..they were a dark brown but they were not burnt. Not only that, but they were some of the flatest cookies I have ever seen. So after that pan, my mom is helping me. She put in more oats into the dough and that made it so it wasn't too moist. The second pan came out better but they were still flat looking, and so did the third but they were better that time too! Still flat, but hey.. So my mom says she's impressed though because the cookies are hard to make and it was my first time making them. But the important thing is they taste how they should. 3nodding Also, my mom thinks because of the humidity that's why the cookies didn't turn out how they should have. Oooh, oatmeal scotchies? How do you make those? They sound good. whee They are good! I found a recipe online that's the same as the one I used, so...enjoy! Oatmeal Scotchies 1 1/4 cup All-purpose flour 1 teaspoon Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon Salt 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon 1 cup Butter (or two full sticks); softened 3/4 cup Sugar 3/4 cup Firmly packed brown sugar 2 Eggs 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract or grated peel of 1 orange 3 cups Quick or old-fashioned oats Uncooked 12 oz Bag of butterscotch morsels Preheat oven to 375~F. In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; set aside. In a large mixer bowl, beat butter, sugar brown sugar, eggs and vanilla extract or orange peel until creamy. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in oats and butterscotch flavored morsels. Drop by measuring tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 7-8 minutes for chewier cookies; 9-10 minutes for crisper cookies. Variation: OATMEAL SCOTCHIE PAN COOKIE Preheat oven to 375~F. Spread dough into greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch baking pan. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until very lightly browned. Cool completely. Cut into thirty-five 2-inch squares. Oooh, I'll definitely have to write that down. It sounds great! heart

Oh my...I just checked my rating in the Arena for the first time, and I'm #203! That's way better than I thought I'd be by the second day. eek
