The kitten was purring happily. She yawned at Dari, then, and squinted. When she spotted Peaches, the little thing tensed for a moment. She swiped a paw at him.
"I'm sure you'll find a perfect name," Maia assured Dari with a smile.
Cody wrapped an arm around Dari. He was grinning. "We can go shopping later," he said.

Peaches' ears went back, and he tried to dodge, but other than that he only moved back a step or two and sat down again.
"Shh, it's alright," Dari said, scratching the kitten's ears, "That's Peaches. He's your cousin."

Michael though that it was rather nice of someone to let him possess them multiple times. He could easily decide to take over and become a real nuisance, but no, Maia trusted him. It was all about trust, and he appreciated it. Trust was hard to find when you were dead and sometimes insane.
"Where are we going today?" he asked within Maia's mind.

"I was thinking we could go to my place," Maia suggested. She was smiling. "I could make us something to eat. Whatever you'd like!" She remembered how much Michael had liked going out for that lunch, and how he'd reacted to the cake. "I could bake a pie, maybe. Or a cake! Do you like chocolate?"
"After, you decide what we'll do. I'm up to anything."

"I would like that very much," Michael agreed. Food wasn't something he could generally enjoy on his own. He had never made food in his life, either. It wasn't the duty of the wealthy, although he knew how to make a sandwich or pour his own tea. "Is chocolate much different now? We can eat and then... hm. Terrorize the town." He was clearly kidding.

She'd thought he might. "I don't know," she admitted. "I only had chocolate for the first time recently. Is there any other flavor you'd like to try?" She asked.
"We could terrorize town," Maia agreed, teasing. "And the household, if you like."

"Strawberries, some day," Michael said. "I used to like fruit. There wasn't a whole lot of it in England, but what we did have was nice." Cakes too.
"Ah, yes. We'll hide in the closet until someone finds us. You'll be a terrific scare-er."

"We might have strawberries at home," Maia thought, and smiled. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we do." She nodded; next time she'd be sure to have plenty of fruit!
"Think that'll scare Toby?" Maia laughed. "We can try."

"He's not the easiest to scare, but he does startle," Michael said, "You can 'creep him out.'" He made air quotes with Maia's fingers. "Dari is much harder to frighten."
He was happy to sit by and simply feel the sensation of walking, of breathing. It was always pleasant to come for a visit. He sincerely hoped that he would never lose himself and take advantage.

"You've scared him before," Maia remembered, and grinned. "Let's not go that far, though," she added. "Do you like cherries?" She asked. "Toby really likes making pies. I'm sure he'd be happy to make you one, sometime."
She headed to Dari's car and waited there. "If you're quiet, maybe Dari won't be able to tell," she said.

"Of course I have. How would I know otherwise?" Michael smirked. "I think I might. It's been a long while. I'm afraid I can't really eat without a living body."
When they made it out to the car, he peered inside. "What? Why? Oh, tell that I'm here?"

"Well, you can always come see me when you want to try something," Maia offered. She smiled then. "He might be able to anyway, with the fourth dimension. I'm not sure. If he does, though, we can always ask him to help us."
Pranking someone sounded like fun!

Hm. He wasn't sure. Dari may well be able to see or sense spirits, but it wasn't enough to deal with them himself. Michael was still the go-to for paranormal cases. Dari might be willing to work with them, though, if he could sense the possession.
"Maybe we should ask him to help us anyway."

"Okay," Maia agreed with a smile. "We'll ask him. I've never pranked anyone before, do you think Toby will get angry?" She asked. As long as they didn't scare him badly, though, he'd probably be fine, right?

"Who, Toby? No, I don't think so. I've only seen him truly angry a few times, and it wasn't for some joke." Missions made him angry sometimes, if there was especial suffering or evil. That was about it. "Of course I am."
Dari came out then and waved when he saw Maia standing outside his car. He took off his jacket and tossed it into the front seat. "Am I your ride home today?" he asked.
