oORoadOo Vincent Devereux Quote: ((heheh...it can only get worse better XD)) Sherrill took his time to politely stare at the collection and stared at them with dull eyes until the last few caught his attention. Calling Road over so that she may look at them as well, "Aren't these interesting..? You painted these yourself Vincent...? They're very good, you have alot of talent..." He trailed off as he continued, truly, admiring the paintings.
Road took the opportunity and gave Vincent a small smile as her father stared at the artwork. So far so good! You're doing great Vincent~
Sherrill, who had caught a small bit of movement out of the corner of his eye, stood back up and eyed the boy, "It's too bad that artists make a small amount, if any at all, of money.....fortunes, no matter how vast, don't last without something to help sustain them...." "Yes sir, they were inspired by a dear friend of mine," He returned Road's smile when Sherrill wasn't looking and quickly straightened his face when Sherrill backed up.
"These in particular I would never sell, but it is a terrible shame I can't get much for some of my other paintings. It's a good thing I've got that publishing company, I suppose." Vincent couldn't help but flash a small smirk at trouncing Sherrill's attempt to thwart him.
Vincent was nowhere near running out of money. He had vast amounts in savings, as well as stocks and bonds. Not to mention, his absolutely thriving publishing company so mentioned. He was so well suited to support a wife and family, that is was absolutely impossible to find any fault.
"Shall we retire for tea?" He smiled cordially at them both, showing the way. He hummed a little under his breath as they made their way to the tea room. Sherrill growled under his breath so that only Road could hear it, and wrapped his arm around her waist, guiding her though the passageway to the tea room.
When they reached the room, and as they were invited to sit, Sherrill rushed forward, and offered Road a seat, pulling it out just for her, and gently sliding her underneath the table, before taking a seat himself, beside her. Road looked between the two, now wondering what would happen next between the two.....
"So...Vincent, tell me more about yourself...you prove to lead a very...interesting lifestyle......carefree no doubt.....a good and nice...sheltered life." Sherrill said, calmly. "Sheltered?" Vincent looked at Sherill quizzically, "On the contrary. I left home when I was only thirteen. I must admit, I was a bit of a rebel in the earlier days of my youth. It was only four years ago, but it seems like an eternity, now..," he trailed off, staring into the flames of a candle on the table. Ages, really... Memories of all sorts flooded his mind, the most prominent flitting across his eyes, the image of an old governess who used to care for him. He shuddered involuntarily, it being not an altogether pleasant memory.
"Forgive me," he snapped back from his memories and explained himself, "I was the rather adventurous type when I was younger. I took a backpacking trip all across Europe, Asia and Africa for three years, studying all sorts of fascinating things. My parents were quite disappointed when I refused to attend school any longer. I pleaded with them for such a long time before they gave up on me as a..what did they call me? A 'lost cause'...They wouldn't give me any funds for the trip, so I made my own. I started as a paper boy, and I saved until I had enough to leave this wretched-- Do forgive me once again, getting carried away," He collected himself and continued "Being the only child, they had no choice but to give me the inheritance. They rather disliked the rest of the family you see, and they were never very charitable people."

Road looked at Vincent with softened eyes for a moment, she realized that she loved him, but knew almost nothing about him...if anything at all.....
Sherrill caught the look she was giving him and snapped her out of it with an offering of more sugar for her tea, "It's quite alright, I did ask. My....that sounds like an interesting life story my boy....." No doubt to raise the pity factor "And your parents seem like they were real....pleasant people.....I hope that the characteristics aren't inherited from parent to child as easily as the fortune...though you do seem pleasant enough....I would be wary of future generations....." He stared at Vincent for a moment as he took a sip of his tea. "I don't have to worry about that with Road here.....she's a wonderful girl, who will most hopefully lead a life away from such things...." He said patting her hand.
Road smiled at her father and then looked down at her tea, taking a long sip from the teacup.
