themightyjello Psychofish and almost laughably traditional ones. I've always loved: "So a generic knight in shining armor walks into the bar-" Never quite used the word 'generic' in it, but some of my characters are the very essence of traditional. With a few quirks that are not at all something you'd notice on a glance that make them much deeper of course. Daniem, the perfect example. Orphaned at a young age, doesn't know he's the last surviving prince of a fallen kingdom. Weilds fire clumsily. And a massively oversized sword. Has the whole 'knight in shining armor' idea mixed with the 'mercenery' traditional form. Large, bulkily muscular, and dashing-handsome. Until you observe his flame used repeatedly (so far he's only ever used it twice) or realize he actually thinks, he seems extremely traditional. I have to think of another traditional character I have now.

I'd have to say that probably the most traditional in the sense of both character design and thinking process would be a tie between Kenji and Manuel... one is the standard dark-horse ronin type, the other is the standard subserviant centurion in platemail.
...I think we're not really using the same definition of the word for this, though. You're going with 'seems traditional, as long as you look at it superficially', I meant straight out traditional, thoughts and history and everything.

True. I've had two of those that stayed that way.
I play him traditional, it's very rare I play his unusualties. Only when it's called for, which hasn't been often.
He started exactly like what he seems. It's just that I am complex, and thus love overly complex characters, so he developed a non-standard side as I played him for a while.

I like to play the quirks and differences that can be put into stock characters, rather than trying to make an unusual character with bizzare abilities, who acts like the kid who's RPing them...
...then again, from time to time I like to make bizzare, off-the-wall characters and try to see if I can peg the types of personality disorders they would have grown into by being that way.
Like d**k... he's one arrogant little ******** who thinks the world is just a game for him to waste his time on.

Yeah, I do experiments like that. Mostly, the personalities are my big thing, and I'm real serious on them though. I either go extremely wierd experiment character with a personality to match, or one I can get to like and flesh out best with much simpler abilities and such.

Tru Punky If I fight against tmj I shall probably cry. emo Whyssat? Am I so horrible that I make your eyes brim over with tears from teh PAIN? @ Fish: I just like weird, weird s**t. rofl Like my fight in Barton right now... it could be over in another post or two if the character would actually attack, but he's kind of a sissy and doesn't want to hurt the other guy, so he's trying to ask him to surrender while getting shot at. Not really working that well.

I have so many characters who are like that. Because they're much too nice a guy, like me.
To me, Alchert is about the minimum requirement to be called weird at all.
