@Jerz I'm not really sure how it works as the kid was in Chargestone cave and you can't go indoors in someone elses world. All I know is that you apparently take them some sort of power up. I know one gives your pokemon more experience from battles and another speeds up the rate eggs hatch. Various little power ups like that.
Edit I tend to leave my C gear on in my pocket when I'm out and about. You can close it and it'll go into sleep mode but leave the C gear active. It'll also show you if an Wi-Fi hotspots are around, though that's almost everywhere these days.

They come in half hour and hour for the ones you deliver to someone else. Also completing missions gives you pass balls that you can spend on the same powers that are deliverable but they only last 3 minutes in various strength levels. Stronger powers cost more pass balls. More missions unlock more powers. Edit I think I'm going to get some sleep, here is a list of the pass powers: http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/entralinkpower.shtmlEdit2 Actually it looks like several of the powers are only available by delivery or purchase. They only overlap in a couple places. That dicount power would send me on a massive shopping trip. XD Night Bunny.

damn! x2 EXP sounds crazy! add that on tope of an already traed poke + lucky egg...
but 3 minutes is a ridiculously short time limit :S doesn't seem worth it *Sweat*
