Cherish life? BAH, I cut and gut life everyday... then shove it's freshly beating heart in my belly so that I may gain it's courage! There's no need to bloody cherish it, you've got to end it and make it a part of you! Absorb it into yourself so that YOU may survive! BECOME ONE WITH THE SUSHI! Hummm not quite. I think this is a vague impression of the writers. Personally I think that people who look at life with a 'woe is me/life is too hard' dont have half as much fun as someone who has a different attitude and so they get less fulfilment from life as a whole.
I know that I was hanging out with some people at the concert last night and most of us were up dancing looking like fools and having a blast! However there were some people who felt too self conscious and stayed seated... now thats not a bad thing after all each person has different levels of what they are comfortable with... however because of that they left the concert with a very negative view of the night "It was boring" as one said.
Now that might be true, it might not interest them. However I believe their attitude towards the concert helped shape their impression and as a result they left feeling grumpy (which isnt the most fulfilling feeling). On the other had those who were being losers with me and not worrying about their image looked at things in a positive light and so went away with a totally different impression of the concert!
I generally think that while you cant change your circumstances you CAN change your attitude and that makes all the difference.
