"Wern't you listening?" The Chief quipped, glancing over at her. "Hell of a gun to put to someone's head. I never met the guy, anyone here know 'bout him? He the type to kill himself if it takes the rest of us with him?"

"What was it you said, Ra? Not like a game? We got a mad villain with the cities' nuke cods, we got an evil scary dude who's only helping us to further his bonds and free himself, and here we are, the heroes, going to the final showdown to keep everyone from dying." The Chief sighed, checking the sight on his rifle absently. "We're hosed."

"Well, seems like we've got one tool that we should use, and use to the fullest while we have it."

Minerva ignored the cheif, although contemplated shooting him. "And what tool is that, Eldst?"

"That the good guys always win? Yeah, but we need the generic old man with his sage-like advice to spur us onwards."
"Off to stop Locke? I'm comin' with." Merlin was floating alongside the vehicle, sitting cross-legged on a moving cloud.

"Not a game I've ever played, but as I said, I've only played tetris, and...a bit of solitaire on the club computer when I was bored." She kicked the chief's seat. "We are not hosed yet, when you start glowing green from radiation, you can say that, but at the moment we're all breathing and fine."

Minerva swore and had to re-holster her gun as she recognized Merlin. "Don't do that to me, wizard, we've discussed your surprise entrances before."

"Pulling out a gun while driving. Terrible show. You've got all these fine people in the car with you, armed to the teeth to shoot me. You should keep your eyes on the road." Merlin smiled, scratching his chin. "Did we have a talk about that? Can't seem to recall it, for another time, I suppose. But you all seem to be few for Locke, and since I've my magic back, I'm much more capable than an old man with a stick."
"Yeah, but a good guy always dies. Either in the fight, or right before it. It's always the funny one that everyone loves, so my odds aren't looking too good." The Chief sees Merlin, and lets out a terrible sigh.

Sean shook his head. "Xeen is our tool. We just have to goad him and Locke to go at each other. We just have to lay low when they do, because we can;t get involved once they do, or suddenly we'll be staring down double barrels of psychotic unhappiness."

"Reacting first has saved my life more than once, wizard, and you were closer to me, meaning if you were an enemy I'd likely be the first victim, especially if I'm in control of the vehicle, which would also make me the most likely target with a possibility to disable the entire crew. NOW WILL PEOPLE PLEAASE QUIT TRYING TO LECTURE ME?!"
"Eldst, it looks like Xeen and Locke are already getting at it, or we wouldn't have been let go like that."
"And Cheif, if you don't quit your damned pansy whining about how we're going to die, I will make sure to put you in the range of fire first!"

Sahira leaned forward and rested her chin on the chief's shoulder. "Not true," She whispered, "usually the person to die is the overbearing an' cranky rule maker who no one likes." She glanced pointedly at Minerva. "but, if it makes you feel better, you're not really that funny."

With Locke's happy little finger sitting on the LRB, Xeen isn't going to do a goddamn thing about it. Now, we need to find a way to cut Locke off from his nukes. And Xeen's going to be all over Locke like stink on s**t."

"Calm down, Cross, I was merely poking fun at you." Merlin was a bit startled by the sudden outbreak of emotion.
"Yeah yeah Cross, you got your pre-showdown rituals, I got mine. I ain't lecturin' you no more, so don't be lecturin' me." The Chief turned his head slightly, to look at Sahira without knocking her head off. "Makes me feel loads better, Ra."

"That wasn't a lecture, Chief, that is what we call a threat. And Merlin, since when have you known me to enjoy humor?" She shook her head. "Never mind, just forget it."
"Then we're back to going after Locke and the codes."
