The closest thing that the Tau have to a Titan is their big stupid flying Manta air ships that crap out all their troops.
Still, a Titan, while protected by three structure points and several void shields, can be taken down hard with the right amount of fire power.
Indeed, super heavies should be fielded when facing super heavies, evening out the odds a bit. FW hasn't created the Shadowsword and Stormblade for nothing! (Which have titan killer written all over them)

A friend of mine may be taking up the gauntlets of the gaurd by using the AC list(Armoured Company)dose anyone have any pointers I can give him for it?

well i choose Storm Troopers instead of orgyns but thats all ive really changed

(Which have titan killer written all over them) we had SIX super heavies in the Uk tank battle at my store. And two titans on their side. we only had two on ours. Guess what. The titans couldn't move due to the super heavies in front of them, so our titans crept up to "just in range" and took out those super-heavies, before moving onto the titans. I blew one up

The AC list may only include Storm Troopers and Tech priests, the rest is made up of tanks. This is the most recent incarnation of the list and can be found over at the Imperial Guard section of the GW site.

Mat Machines of the Imperium right its got Ogryns in it i could have swore but then again i could be wrong Mat, you are fielding a list based on the Infantry Company list, not the AC list. An AC is made up almost entirely of tanks and has a HQ tank with tank aces for elites.
