I just started Oboe last year, so I'm not that good yet Dx
my teacher is no help to me, he's afraid of the double reed instruments, its quite funny
Any other Oboe players name their Oboe?

I play the oboe as my primary instrument and for marching, I play the flute :3

I started playing bassoon two years ago. Before that I played Bass Clarinet for four years and Clarinet my sixth grade year.
In marching band and indoor percussion I've played marimba with a few occasions where I've played the other mallets instruments. I've also marched cymbals in parades.

So, does anyone make their own reeds?
I'm learning how to this summer.
Edit: I suck. Omigosh, I can't even stress how much I suck at this. Granted, I'll get better over time, but at the moment I'm just plain terrible!

Hello to all Oboe players out there! I just recently started playing, like a month ago, and my band director says I'm doing really good. So that's reassuring haha. But I was wanting to know if anyone had any tips to give me about the oboe?

I have played the bassoon for seven years! It's a great instrument if you have the talent for it. In marching band I was in pit for two years, but then I was tired of the crap so I switched to trombone for marching!! I love marching band but my senior year I had to play the baritone, which sucked, MAJORLY. Anyway, I love bassoon. heart

I am an Oboe performance major at UW- Marathon County and I played Clarinet my freshman year, Soprano sax my Sophomore year, Tenor sax my junior, and Mellophone my senior. I'm so in love with my Oboe and just learned English Horn this year. Being a music major is so much fun heart
