Ash Rail MHHornfreak The one on the far left and far right are the ones i use the most. The left one is a Claude Lakey which i use for blues gigs or marchingband. The other is a 7* Otto Link which i'm trying to make my main jazz mouthpiece. : ) hornfreak, now we have the same set up, except you have the original 875. Muahaha, I have the 875 like his. I prefer it to the EX model anyways. That ottolink he's got is the same one I'm going to buy soon, and I just bought the Lomax New York Jazz Classic 7m so I'm pretty much set for alto at least. I love how the metal mouthpieces look on both my pro saxes, they match color exactly!

I can't do metal. I just don't agree with any piece I've seen so far. That and I don't seem to like the timbre on them.
The only metal piece I like is the one coltrane used, even though he probably modified the s**t out of it. He's my favorite tenor player, hands down. I can't stand Wayne Shorter. He sounds and plays way too much like Coltrane. You can't touch the trane. Why try?

MHHornfreak frozenpenguin421 I play alto. I kinda took my brothers and just picked it up and started playing so I'm not an expert or anything. All the saxes are same fingerings from what I hear...is any harder? it's just hard adjusting to the different embouchers. ah gotcha, thanks

I didn't like amount of resistance, and with the one I was using I couldn't notice any significant chang ein timbre either, so I thought metal was dying out. Then I went to the shop this past week and had them reccomend me different mpcs to try out, and theottolink actually seemed to outperform the emyer that they had there, so I'm thinking about buying that.

ottolink is all about power. : ) If you play with a small ensemble, like a woodwind quartet or something, they could get mad. It might be hard to mesh if you've got a full blown, edged out otto.
Yeah, meyers are kinda overrated. The Meyer 5, for example, is almost as common as the Selmer C* now.

Well for something to be good it has to be widely used correct? It's a good mouthpiece for sax players that want to move away from thier stock mouthpiece. As for metal vs hard rubber i'm gonna stick to crystal.
...
HAHAH just kidding i prefer playing on mouthpieces that let me project so i go with really open ones. My otto is an 8* and my 4*5 Lakey just projects which is great for pepband and marchingband, specially paired with a 5 reed! I'm trying to stick to my Otto for now since my old sax teacher told me i had a nice rounded tone with it. The otto is good for the band setting i'm in which is bigband, although i didnt use it for our first recording, i used my Selmer Jazz F*.
