[???]
Rep was disorientated and afraid, unable to help himself as - rather than cower before the terrifying entity - he did exactly what he'd always done and twisted the fear into anger and rage, narrowing his eyes. Her words cut deep however, echoing intentionally or otherwise the comments Dwight and so many others had made about him being kept primarily to run out his energy, as a lowest common denominator, something people would do everything they could to avoid becoming. No matter how low people sunk, at the very least, they weren't Rep.
It made it worse that she was a woman, there were so many complicated associations with the female for him, he loathed them, he loved them, he wanted to destroy them and wanted to be them. He rankled at the thought that anything of him belonged to anyone but in a deep, intrinsic way, he knew she was right, so much of him was already in her hands and her power.
He'd joined Death division because in Sun he had dreamed of being a hero, because there had been people who believed in him and told him he could be more than the animal he was, more than a monster. They'd deceived him for a while into thinking he was truly worthy of love. But then he'd realised that he wasn't up to the task, he couldn't endure it, all he could do was seek a place where they'd use him for what he was. He wasn't a hero, he couldn't handle anything that came his way. especially not emotions.
It was hard to Protect, and he wasn't admittedly, very good at it, it was Harrison's thing, it was what he was best at.
He'd been trying not to worry about anything for the last few weeks, months. Drugs, alcohol, delusions, nothing had saved him, nothing had made him feel worthy and nothing had let him escape for long.
"What if it ******** did?" he asked, standoffish and uncertain. "What would I gain?"

CHANCE - BEACHHis head was spinning away into blackness, as was his vision. The dizziness was almost overwhelming, blinding him, and Chance just hung onto Otto's wrists, lungs constricting desperately to bring in air, in spite of there being none to swallow.
"Otto," Chance got out again, hardly able to speak. "Come on...beautiful...let go..."
His fingers dug into Otto's skin, still trying to pry his hands off.

Maebe had closed her eyes when her hands flew up to protect her face, but the punches had stopped long ago. The pain simply hadn't, and she didn't realize that she was just feeling the swell of her face instead of continuous punches for several minutes. When she slowly put her hands down, the air felt cold against her overheating skin. She tried to open her eyes, and for a moment saw a sliver of the fight between Chance and Otto. She still felt that urge to get up and join them, but that urge ended when the skin and muscle around her eyes swelled them shut. She was blind, for now. Her hands went back to hiding, and protecting her face. It burned to the touch, as did the tears that tried to escape beneath swollen eyelids. She wouldn't be moving, any time soon.

[ Courtyard ]"Alas, my love, 'tis not possible to suspend my concern for thy welfare." One hand retreated to clench into a fist over his heart, and Edgar closed his eyes as he looked towards the ground. Clearly, any time was a good time for his melodrama. Feeling her tug on his sleeve, however, was enough to derail it. Though difficult to see beneath the scrapes and smudges of blood, his cheeks flushed, and he found himself struggling to remain committed to his own character. "They--" He cleared his throat and tried again. "They do verily appear so, Princess. Ne'er fret - should they forget mandated hierarchy and dare to near thee, I shall strike them down to whence they came!" With what weapon, though.HP: 30 Status: Uninfected

Hissing out in frustration he found Mimsy not moving, instead what WAS moving was much, much scarier. What might have been a yelp under other circumstances turned itself into a snarl. Robert was on him, using all that rage against him and not Mimsy. He needed to fight, needed to get towards the 'monster' she claimed she was and show her she was not alone. She was in good company, all of them were monsters, but first he needed to try and deal with Robert. Balling his fist he turned all of his attention back to the one who was tearing him apart. Robert was in his way.Quinn: HP: 15/30 DMG: 6

[ Courtyard ]The scissors were raised as she readied to strike once more, eagerly awaiting a window of opportunity. And he seemed, for an instant, to still just enough for her to be successful-- A furious cry greeted Quinn as she put her feet against him and tried to shove him away. When this was not enough, she clutched the scissors more tightly, glanced back at Robert, and stabbed the blade into his arm. It was a petty tantrum, but she had at least achieved something. SHILOH - BEACHThe was a brief respite from all the crazy and Shiloh nodded, arms still firmly around his fiance. He wasn't exactly sure why Jack and Finn were on the maybe list, though he could hazard a guess that even if it wasn't zombie-related, there could be reasons. He rested his chin gently against Ian's head. "Cake and booze and sleep, we'll fix you right up, Mister Nazari. In the meantime, you're absolutely right, no arguing, not allowed." Shiloh wasn't entirely convinced about the walking either, but he carefully let go of Ian, keeping a hand on him as he got to his feet and then extending said hand to help him up. Gee, it sure would suck if when Shiloh looked down, Ian's eyes were suddenly red and glaring. Quote: Virus Counter: RED EYES WHITE SHILOH I SUMMON YOU IN ATTACK MODE HP: 30

[courtyard -> beach - Horace] Horace did at least one thing he was marginally good at: he ******** booked it. Oliver wasn't Oliver, again, and Horace didn't know what he could do to cure him. Rep's stone had shattered, and something about this was different. He ducked around a pair of fighting hunters, one scared, one snarling. Horace ran as though the devil were burning bridges behind him (or something other wholly nonsensical metaphor). He made it to the beach and, quite abruptly, tripped over an injured hunter on the ground. With a thumb, Horace fell and scrambled off of the other man. He was injured, with at least a broken arm. "s**t, you okay?" Another infected hunter was making a horrible beeline for them. "s**t, s**t, s**t, <********> Grunting, Horace, tried to sling the other man onto his back. He couldn't just leave him.

-KIKI- Kiki's eyes widened, and an elated smile crossed her battle worn face. "My, you are so brave and valiant!" She said with awe, her heart pitter pattering in a fluster of girlish glee. "I should very much love to see you in battle some day. Brave Prince." Maybe not right now, though. She didn't want her Edgar to get his eyes gouged out. Actually, the carnage was making her ill. Her face fell, and it was hard to remain so happy when such a gruesome display played out before her. Her stomach turned, and she felt scared for herself. She felt disturbed, and scarred. "Ugh.." She grimaced, hiding her face in her hands. "I can't look.. It's terrible!" How could they turn on one another? -OTTO- Closer. Closer! Otto's grip tightened once more, even using his heightened strength to lift and slam the man's head into the ground once, trying to shake out every last breath from him. Only anger. Only bloodshed. Nothing else remained inside. Quote: Otto HP 12 Target: Chance Damage: 8 Virus: 0

courtyard It takes hold, at home in his veins, in his head, in his heart. Leslie's eyes shone red as saliva flooded his mouth, because he had a thirst for power more than all else. For the first time in almost a year, his felt truly liberated. There were no fears, no worries, no trauma. Had he been himself, Leslie would have wept in relief. But he was not himself, and he lashed out at a random person on the beach, determined to win. Leslie had squandered his chance to become the apex predator once, and would not again. hp 30 target: otto dmg 2 status red eye

[ Courtyard ]
The haze of his mind finally lifted and as soon as Milo shook his head to get the last bits of fog to lift he found himself in the courtyard. Not where he had last remembered being. The brunet looked around a bit confused (though, oddly not as fazed as he expected himself to be, because really.. how many times had this happened before).
But as expected, he probably missed something pretty big. The usual. SIGH.Quote: HP: 50/50 Virus level: 79 0

CHANCE - BEACHHe dragged in some semblance of breath, but it was nothing more than a rasping rattle of his lungs. Chance's fingers, which had been pressed hard against Otto's wrists, now grew limper, and he felt Otto lift him before his head snapped back, slamming into the ground. Pain ricocheted through him, his entire body, and Chance's chest ached, burned with the effort of trying to breathe.
He lifted one hand, fingers trembling a little with the effort as he reached to touch Otto's cheek; but he didn't have the strength, and a second later, Chance's arm fell back, his entire body growing limp.

beachThe injured hunter responded with a groaning sound behind Horace's shoulder. Which was reasonable, because by the looks of him a broken arm was probably the least of his problems. Horace could feel Lucky weakly clawing at his exposed back, leaving his own bloody handprints all over. Probably just trying to get a grip. Definitely not channeling the rage of a supernatural entity. Yeah. Quote: HP: 30 (IT'S A GOD DAMN MIRACLE) counter: RED EYES runic torch (spent) runic bandages (USED runic trapping gun (USED) DMG: 4

Lifeless. Otto had rendered him limp.. heavy... not breathing. Cold. Cold. No heat in this one. Time to find another body to break. To feel truly alive he needed to end the lives of others. He felt something hit him, and he let Chance's bruised and cut neck to whip his head around. Leslie was now the focus of Otto's red gaze. Otto pushed himself off Chance, scrambling after Leslie in a fury and dove for his midsection, attempting to tackle him to the ground. Quote: Otto HP 10 Target: Leslie Damage: 3 Red Eye
