It took a lot more willpower than Kasiya liked to keep herself relatively calm and she shook her head. "Oh, it's nothing," she said, sort of holding up the Minccino. "Pepper's tail is tickling me, is all." It was at that point that the Chinchilla noticed the dirt on her trainer's clothing and she let out an indignant cry before flying into a sweeping and cleaning frenzy. By the time she had finished, Kasiya actually felt a little more presentable and she smiled at the little mouse. "Thanks, Pepper," she said, chuckling a little, and she nodded. "Yeah, that Keegan. Y'know, he's so... charitable." It wasn't quite the word she wanted and if she could have smacked herself in the forehead, she would have.
She inhaled deeply to compose herself and called both Nova and Alphonse to their Pokeballs, as the Piplup had took in a sharp breath and Kasiya was sure he had been about to start pelting the Charmeleon with bubbles. She recalled Zaira and Pepper too, giving a sort of shrug at the mention of her Umbreon. "Well, he's coming with us to the gym, after all. Plenty of time for introductions later." At the mention of Sirrus the Flygon, however, a rather uncomfortable look overcame her face, and she gave a very Mareepish shrug. "Heh, funny you should mention that. Well, you see the thing is, after Slateport, a bunch of us - Kilik, Mitsu, Sasha, Keegan and I - all headed over to Sinnoh. Looking for a new start, I guess. Well, Mitsu and I went into a store to do some shopping and we ran into Mai there. Only, she didn't see us and we kept out of sight. I figured, hey, she took Shocker, right? Only seems right that I try to get her back. One in six chance and all. So I snuck up on her, I snatched a Pokeball right off her belt and Mitsu and I ran out of the store before she could see us."
Of course, Kasiya knew that Mai was much more observant than that and more than likely had seen both girls fleeing the scene, and of course most people would notice having a Pokeball taken from them. "I guess she didn't mind all that much because she hasn't taken any active steps in getting him back. You see, when I realized I had her Flygon, I figured I had some leverage on her and if she wanted him back, she'd have to trade me Shocker." She paused, taking a deep breath before continuing. "It didn't end up working, because Keegan was right when he said that Mai didn't have her anymore. I guess it was a pretty stupid plan in the end."

Mike grinned at Pepper's sudden cleaning spree, wondering if that was some type of innate instinct or a personal quirk. He flipped open his PokeDex to check as the little rodent furiously scrubbed away. "Instinct. Got it." he said to himself, adding a curious 'huh' and closing the device. "It's weird, isn't it?" Mike said in reply to Kasiya's comment about Keegan's generosity. "He likes to pretend he's a total a**, but I know better. What's even better is that he tries so hard to play it off, but by now he should know better than to try to hide from me." Keegan was the sort that would talk all tough and cold-hearted, but when the chips were down, he would be right there by your side. Case and point: yesterday. He chuckled, playfully popping his collar like he was some sort of big deal psychoanalyst for knowing that. "Come on, let's get outta here." he said with a smile, moving past the obviously sore topic, as evident from Kasiya's subdued tone.
He listened to her tell the story of how she acquired her new Flygon, nodding and adding the 'yeahs' and 'mhms' where appropriate as he walked outside with her and released Nitro, jumping on top of the dragon, and giving him a hug, his heart still a bit fluttery from seeing Nova.
Nitro gave a happy bark of sorts upon seeing Kasiya, especially that she was in one piece, and even moreso upon seeing Shocker beside her. He looked back to his trainer, who merely flashed a look which all but screamed 'Of course we succeeded. Look who you're dealing with.'
Mike listened the entire time, reaching down and pulling her onto the Charizard after she had recalled all of her Pokemon. "Hey, no. That wasn't stupid at all!" Mike said, adding a reassuring kiss on the forehead. "Your Pokemon was stolen by an evil psycho b***h, and you decided to fight fire with fire! Now that's a strategy I can respect." He beamed at the girl, trying to drive the point home. "Listen, there are some people in this world that you just can't reason with, so the only way to deal with them when they've hurt you is to just snap back and show them who they messed with!" He smiled deviously, flaring up his hands for emphasis. "I say keep it. It seems to like you, and if she doesn't miss it then she obviously doesn't care about it so it's better off!" He looked down, making sure she was seated properly, with her arms properly fastened around his waist. "And don't worry. If she comes after you, she'll have to get through me first." He smirked. No way was he about to let anyone hurt her, especially not that unfeeling wench. "Let's rock, Nitro! To Mossdeep!"
The Charizard let out a roar, ducked down, and shot into the sky. Mike was once again reminded that riding a dragon was literally the coolest thing in the world. Double points when you have a pretty girl clinging to you.
You know. Life wasn't so bad.

The road down into Pallet town proper was fairly devoid of life this morning. Kressen only saw a few flying types to far above his head to identify. It wasn't until he was walking through the town did he see any sign of the inhabitants going about there daily rituals. People and various breeds of pokemon were all about the streets. It made him wish he had the pokedex already so he could identify all that he was looking at.
Sure most were common, but he occasionally saw a type he hadn't seen except on tv. Such as a stinking sludge pokemon or a mime like pokemon sweeping off a porch. He gave that one a wide berth since he never really cared for mimes. They gave him the creeps.
It wasn't hard to find the road to Oak's lab since he was atop a large hill. "All right guys let's go meet this famous professor."

It definitely felt better getting all of that off of her chest, as even though she knew she shouldn't, Kasiya couldn't help but feel bad for having taken the Flygon in the first place. It was true, however, as Sirrus was rather fond of her and in turn, she'd become quite fond of him, too. The dragon was a very reliable and very powerful Pokemon and she was quite happy to have had him at her side these past few days. She followed Mike outside, unable to contain her smile as she saw the mighty Charizard take shape before her. It was a little hard to believe that Nitro had once been a little Charmeleon and an even littler Charmander before that, and she ran up to the dragon and gave him a kiss on the nose, idly wondering what Nova would be like when (hopefully) she decided to evolve. "Nitro!" she giggled, while Shocker gave him a bit of a salute. "Party's over for now," she told the Raichu. "You should rest up in your Pokeball for now," she said, and the mouse nodded. She hadn't been in her Pokeball for quite some time now and she had almost forgotten what it was like. The Electric-type was returned to her ball in a beam of red light, and Kasiya stared at it for a moment, before clicking it firmly into her belt and allowing for Mike to pull her up onto the Charizard's back.
It was hard not to feel better as Mike spoke, making dang sure all of his opinions on the matter were out in the open, and she even giggled a bit, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, you're right," she said, sliding her arms around him and holding him tight. "It definitely makes me better to hear you say it." She held on a little tighter as Nitro rocketed off into the sky, that thrill of flying once again overcoming the both of them. By now, both of them had done this dozens upon dozens of times but it had yet to lose its novelty, and Kasiya secretly wished they never would. We'll be there in no time, she thought, wriggling a little closer to Mike and lying her head against the back of his shoulder. As excited as she was for this gym match, sitting here with him like this was almost better than being by his side as they toppled any trainer that dared challenge them.
Almost.
=-=-=-=-= It was still very early in the morning as Professor Samuel Oak stood on his front porch, sipping a hot cup of coffee. The aroma of it filled the air and he inhaled deeply, finding it mingled well with the crispness of the new day. What sorts of things awaited him today, well, he didn't know, but that was part of the fun, wasn't it? A flock of Pidgey passed by overhead and he looked up at them, enjoying another sip of the warm, caffeine-bringing liquid. He'd gone a bit overboard on the sugar this time, but that was the way he liked it, after all.
The quiet of the morning was suddenly broken up by the sounds of heavy footsteps, and as Oak strained his ears to listen, he realized they were coming closer. In fact, the owner of those heavy footfalls was currently climbing the long stone staircase that lead up to his hilltop mansion/laboratory. Very soon he spotted a tall young man with fiery red hair hidden beneath a ball cap, and he was carrying an almost ostentatiously large backpack with him. He had a good idea as to why the youth was here, and he gave a wave. "Good morning, young man!" he called out cheerfully. "What brings you to Pallet Town on such a fine morning?"

It took a few minutes of Mike talking to himself on the trip to realize that Kasiya had long since dozed off. If he had to wager a guess, between him and Nitro the girl was just far too warm to stay awake. Mike smiled, happy to see her so relaxed. Sure, he was totally gushing over her completely cutting loose on those Rockets this morning. That was a light he had no issue with seeing her in. She must have felt so safe with hi-wait. Was she drooling? A light jolt of pain shot up his spine, confirming his suspicion. Mike snickered, ignoring the minor discomfort. She would be a drooler, he thought with a knowing smile across his lips. She sure had a habit of passing out on him when they flew on Nitro. Mike leaned forward, figuring that if Kasiya's grip loosened as she napped she would just slump over on him rather than-where were they-all across the sands of Dewford. No splattered girlfriends, thank you. He just got this one, and he was quite happy with her. As Mike looked down to see where they were, he remembered that was the beach where he gave Kasiya flowers after his match with Brawly, and moments later Lt. Surge showed up in a helicopter, and was then revealed to be her father. It hit him again that he would soon have to meet the giant man not just as a hysterical gym challenger, but as the boy locking lips with his daughter. Mike's smile flattened into a look of dread. His last meeting with Surge didn't really paint him as the model of all boyfriends.
Pushing that thought aside, Mike enjoyed the rest of the trip with relative silence. It was hard to hear himself think with all the wind rushing past them, and that was fine by him. He expected Nitro would need to stop to rest, but to the boy's surprise, the Charizard kept trucking along. "You've got this, apparently." Mike said to himself. It was a good thing too, that was an awful lot of water below them, and if he somehow fell off, he would only have a few seconds before fizzling out of existence. Boy, his mind always seemed to jump to instant death whenever he flew. It should really cut that out.
Once again proving his increased skill, Nitro landed safely on the ground. Not so much as an unwanted dip. Shifting his weight gently as to hopefully not wake Kasiya, Mike slipped off the dragon, carrying the girl on his back. "Thanks for the ride, buddy." he said, recalling the dragon back into his ball. Figuring that she probably didn't want to challenge the 7th gym in Hoenn with a baby penguin and a Charmeleon, the boy made his way into the Pokemon Center. "Hey." he said softly. "Wake up. We're here. I figured you wanted to swap out your team, so we're in the center in Mossdeep now." Mike smiled as the girl stirred awake.

"Loki! Give 'em your Glare!" Keegan shouted, refusing to give his father's Typhlosion an opening of any kind. The Arbok looked a little less spunky now that he'd taken a few good hits, but he didn't look any less angered as he rose up, eyes glowing a horrible red as he once again tried to freeze his foe with fear.
"Oh no, we won't be doing that again," Todd said from his side of the arena. "Typhlosion, Smokescreen, go!" The Volcano Pokemon quickly darted back, putting a solid amount of space between herself and Loki as he started to initiate his Glare, but she didn't see any of it: her flames had gone out and now a thick, black smoke began to seep from her pores, quickly filling the battlefield with a dense, obscuring cloud. Loki's Glare was rendered ineffective in the haze, and the Arbok even gave a bit of a whine as he could no longer see anything around him. He was a goofball, yes, but even he knew that this wasn't a good thing.
Keegan, on the other hand, was actually somewhat thankful for the blanket of smoke separating him from his father, as it meant that he couldn't see the angry look on his face. It had been a good move and he hated to admit it, but his father was pretty good. That didn't mean that the younger redhead wasn't practically dying to win, as that fierce drive to prove himself had kicked in to overdrive. "Loki, Dig," Keegan said, his voice remaining calm despite how hard his blood was pumping through his veins, and he knew that Loki was almost as at home underground as he was above it. Loki gave a hiss of affirmation and the sound that followed was enough to let Keegan know that the Cobra Pokemon had burrowed under, and now all he could do was wait, and hope that his father didn't already have another brilliant counter-strategy all lined up for them. ===== This isn't happening, Miharu thought, desperately wishing that this was all a terrible, terrible dream and that she was going to wake up at any moment. The warm, wet trickle and throbbing pain in her knee was more than enough to let her know that this was not the case, however, and she could also feel the tears beginning to well up in the corners of her eyes. A sharp cry from Mori snapped her back to attention and she looked up in time to see the white blur that was Zangoose finishing up what looked like a devastating Crush Claw attack. The Ponyta gave another weak cry before slumping to the ground, obviously too weak to continue fighting. An overwhelming feeling of dread filled Miharu as she recalled the pony with a shaking hand, and she took a step backward, finding that the Cat Ferret Pokemon's gaze had fallen on her.
Her fight instinct had long since waned in favor of flight and she could hear Leroy's voice nearby - he was closing the distance, and fast. She had to do something. The Park Ball containing her Pinsir was still clutched firmly in her hand and she frantically jammed her thumb against the button, allowing for Petunia to make her second appearance in this night-gone-horribly-wrong. Seeing the Stagbeetle Pokemon caused Zangoose to grin and it eagerly rushed its new opponent, glowing claw raised high for another Crush Claw attempt. Miharu opened her mouth to give the Bug-type a command but failed, and all she could do was watch in horror as the horrible Normal-type brought down its powerful claw once again.
Despite the crushing blow, however, Petunia stood her ground, taking the hit like a champ. She let out an ear-splitting cry, her whole body seeming to shiver as she turned around and struck back, using both her terrifying pincers and powerful claws to cause a tremendous amount of damage to the Zangoose in return. It cried out weakly and staggered back, causing Miharu to gasp in surprise. That had been Petunia's Revenge, an attack that doubled in power when the user had taken damage in that same round. She wasn't about to give the Cat Ferret Pokemon a chance to counter and she mumbled a somewhat incoherent command. It was all fine and dandy for Petunia though as she eagerly chased down her opponent, her pincers slashing in two diagonal motions for a nasty X-Scissor, and just like that, Zangoose was down and out.

The stairs certainly made climbing the hill far easier with the heavy pack strapped to his back. Dear God Mount Moon is going to be hard to traverse once we head that way. Perhaps he'd get in some training with the gang here and run up and down them to try and build endurance.
The sound of the Professors voice made the red head look up. He looked exactly as he did on television or in the magazine, although perhaps a fair bit more relaxed. He waved smiling, happy to meet one of the most famous men in the world. "I came to see you sir. I can come back later though if your busy. I wouldn't want to intrude too much."

The last thing Kasiya had intended to do on this trip was fall asleep, but as Mike had predicted, between his and the Charizard's natural warmth she was just far too comfortable to stay awake. In no time at all she'd drifted off, and for the first time in a long time, her dreams were pleasant.
She was back at the outskirts of the Viridian Forest, seated beneath a large oak tree as she enjoyed a sandwich. A few feet away from her, a young Eevee was crunching noisily on piece of Pokemon food. She smiled as she watched the little brown Pokemon, wondering what sort of adventures the day would bring them. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a streak of yellow zip across the trail and instinctively she glanced over, of course seeing nothing. She wasn't convinced it was nothing, however and stood up, her sandwich long forgotten. She called out to Eevee and the Normal-type jumped into a defensive stance, despite her hesitation to leave her lunch and the two scanned the treeline, their hearts racing.
"Pika?" came the inquisitive cry from behind them, and the pair wheeled around, both quite surprised to see none other than a Pikachu perched atop a rock, watching them intently. Its ears twitched slightly as it gazed indifferently at Eevee, and then Eevee's lunch.
Having grown up around Electric-types, Kasiya was, to say the least, utterly thrilled by the sight of the little mouse, and even more so as it was (or at least evolved into) her then-unknown father's signature Pokemon. Her heart was racing but that wouldn't stop her from doing her damnedest to catch it, and at once she set Eevee on the attack, leading off with an accuracy-reducing Sand-attack. Sparks flared from the mouse's cheeks as it tried to fight off the stinging in its eyes, only then to be tackled off the rock and into the underbrush behind. The two Pokemon disappeared momentarily, as Kasiya was only able to hear their cries and there was a bright flash of yellow as the Pikachu lit up the area with a Thundershock. Eevee came rushing out of the bushes like a Zubat out of hell, static clinging to her shiny fur. The Pikachu followed after a few seconds, now looking somewhat irritated. Eevee rushed the mouse and tackled it again. She avoided a wild Thundershock from the Pikachu and managed to land one last Tackle, bringing the Electric-type down to all fours. Both were breathing heavily but Kasiya knew that now was the moment of truth, and she let her Pokeball fly. It was a very tense moment, but the Pikachu was caught, sparking the beginning of what would become a very strong friendship between the three of them.
"Hmm?" Kasiya murmured sleepily, her dream fading as she opened her eyes, and she quickly realized that they were no longer in transit. She blinked a few times, a bit of a blush creeping into her cheeks as she realized that Mike was supporting her against his back and she slid back, landing softly on her own two feet. "We're here?" Sure enough, they had indeed landed in Mossdeep and she stretched her arms, shaking off the drowsiness. "Oh yeah, that wouldn't have ended very well," she nodded, jogging a bit to speed up the waking-up process. She hadn't meant to fall asleep and she chuckled to herself as she realized it was becoming a habit when she flew with Mike and Nitro.
The Pokemon Center, like always, was easy to spot and she headed right inside and over to the computer area, feeling a twinge of sadness as she once again deposited Nova, Ariados, Alphonse, Zaira and Pepper and withdrew Ariel, Adamantine, Rosemary, Casimir and Twilight in their stead. After this gym match, we're going to do some serious training, she thought, eager to see what her league of young'ins was capable of. She rejoined Mike and linked her arm through his as she beamed up at them. "After you, fearless leader," she giggled.
=-=-=-=-= Oak laughed at the boy's politeness. "Oh, nonsense," he said, dismissing Kressen's concerns with a wave of his hand. "For the most part, I'm almost always busy. I may be one of the most renowned Pokemon researchers on the planet, but one of my primary duties is assisting young trainers, such as yourself." He turned to head inside, beckoning for the redhead to follow him, but he stopped, once again looking at the large pack on the boy's back. "You... are a trainer, aren't you?" he asked, specifically to make sure before he led Kressen inside.

"Never fear!" Mike bellowed. "I shall lead us to victory!" With Kasiya attached, the pair marched down the path towards the Gym. Mike had spied the gym from above, recognizing it from various pictures he had seen growing up. It was a large, light blue dome like building which was not very far from the Pokemon center, and very easy to spot from the air, as it stuck out like a sore thumb amid all the tall buildings. "This way!" Mike pointed at a fork, spotting the Gym in the distance. As the building drew nearer, Mike felt his heart begin to pound in his chest; not out of fear, but anticipation. Excitement! He was about to challenge the 7th gym in Hoenn. After this he only had one more until he qualified for the Pokemon League! Even better, he was with his favorite battle partner, about to once again prove that together they could not be beaten. The boy found himself shaking in anticipation. His scars gave off a light orange glow, and his forehead leaked a trail of light grey smoke.
"Sorry." he said, slightly embarrassed at his reaction. "It's just so thrilling! Thank you so much for coming along with me. We are going to destroy this gym!" he pumped his fist in the air. "Well, wait-" he stammered, looking around anxiously. "I mean-I mean like, figuratively! With Pokemon battles! Not like...you know what I mean." he lowered his head. "We're gonna win." Mike let out a subdued 'whoo', his face now sporting some red mixed in with all the orange.
Soon they found themselves at the gym's 'door', or lack thereof. Interestingly, it was in fact, just a dome. The arches on the side providing no real cover from the elements. "Very outdoorsy." Mike mused, looking at his partner. "Shall we?" he asked with a smirk before walking in.
Inside there was an arena sunken into the ground, with a raised platform on the opposite side; no doubt for the leaders to observe. On the lower level various gym trainers could be seen with their Pokemon, doing some mild training to prepare for any challengers. Luckily for them, they would not have to wait much longer. As the pair approached, the trainers, sensing their presence, all looked up to greet them. Mike was a little off-put by this, silently hoping they weren't all psychics like their Pokemon.
"Greetings." a purple haired young boy in in a blue uniform called out, stepping forward. Beside him was a Kirlia, who rose to its feet with a weightless grace. "Are you here to challenge the Mossdeep Gym?"
"You bet!" Mike replied, pointing a thumb to Kasiya. "We both are in fact. We figured since the leaders like to battle in pairs that we could, too. Would that be a problem?" The blue-clad boy looked to his side, the multitude of trainers behind him all replying with a sort of indifference.
"That should not be an issue." he closed his eyes, a Pokeball beside him floating into the air, surrounded by a green aura. "I will be your first challenger."
"As will I." a similarly colored girl spoke up, walking up beside the boy. When they stood side by side, they looked almost like twins.
"Must be a theme." Mike said out of the side of his mouth to Kasiya. "Us non-twins are intruding on their territory." he snickered, not meaning any particular offense. "That sounds great!" he said, detaching from his girlfriend and running down the stairs, clearing the last few with a leap and making his way to his side of the arena. He looked up at Kasiya, his expression positively radiant. The two trainers walked to their positions, their demeanor in stark contrast to that of their challengers. The boy's Kirlia softly pranced over in front of its trainer, and the girl flicked her wrist and sent a Pokeball flying, releasing a rather stern looking Kadabra.
Mike, who at this point was all but dancing in place, couldn't hold it in any longer. He let out a dark chuckle, smoke shooting from his mouth, which elicited a simultaneous eyebrow raise from the gym trainers. He reached down, practically ripping the third Pokeball on his strap off in excitement and throwing it onto the battlefield. "Let's tear this place up!" he shouted, letting out a high-pitched laugh as a flash of light revealed the massive Steelix: Titanium. He let out a deep roar, which shook the ground beneath him. The two trainers tilted their heads upward, their expressions for the most part unchanged. Still giggling, Mike looked over at Kasiya, eager to see who she was planning on sending out.

Riza and Ian both let their Pokemon out of their poke balls at the same time. On the raven haired girl's side appeared Selena the Snivy, looking around almost distastefully as she saw they were surrounded by dirt and rocks, where were all the trees and grass? On Ian's side of the battlefield appeared a feisty little monkey, a rather bright flame burning from its....butt? Both Riza and Selena stared at the fire-type, neither one of them overly happy with Ian's choice of Pokemon.
"This is Chimchar," Ian said, bending down to pet the little chimp on the head, and he looked over at the Snivy. "Never seen one of those before. What is it?"
"Her name is Selena," Riza replied, arms now folded over her chest. "She's a Snivy, and a grass-type," she added, Ian laughed.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. Chimchar doesn't know any fire-type attacks yet," he said, shrugging. "It should be a fairly even match, I think."
'Fair enough,' Riza thought, though she secretly hoped that Ian was being truthful and that the little fire monkey wouldn't spontaneously learn how to use flamethrower. She'd been through the Snivy's moves several times now and she pointed at the Chimchar. "Selena, use Tackle!" she called, having taken out her pokedex to look up the monkey. It seemed like it would be fast, and knowing that the Snivy was fast too, it should make for an interesting little match up.
Selena gave a cry and darted forward, quickly making it known that she was one speedy little Pokemon, Her sights were set on the orange chimp and she closed in on him quickly. "Dodge and use Scratch!" Ian called. It was Chimchar's turn to showcase his speed and he did a rather fancy backflip to avoid the tackle from Selena and rushed forward, rearing back his hand to swipe at her with his claws. Selena wasn't really looking to take the first hit either and she mimicked the Chimchar, doing a backflip of her own to escape the attack. * * * * * "Time to wrap it up Kord!" Katie called, rubbing her hands together. She was very confident that she was going to win this and she felt almost giddy with excitement. Every victory meant that she was a step closer to getting Kord strong enough so that he could evolved. Granted, she still didn't know where to get her hands on an Electirizer in order to evolve him to his final form, but that would come later. "Finish it off with your Cross Chop!"
The little Elekid loved to use that move and he gave an excited cry at the command. He darted forward, his hand raised for his signature x shaped chop and he jumped at the Chansey. In the meantime, however, Thea had a plan of her own. "Chansey, Softboiled!" she had called. The Chansey's egg had started glowing as Kord had started running and the healthy glow covered her whole body, restoring a massive amount of health. Kord's Cross Chop struck heavy and hard but when it was all over the big pink Pokemon was still standing, much to both his and Katie's annoyance. "Refresh!" Thea called quickly.
"Stop it, Kord! Low Kick!" Katie shouted. The last thing she wanted was for the Chansey to heal itself of the paralysis, as it was already still very healthy because of the Softboiled. Unfortunately the refresh went off without a hitch and the now healthier Chansey quickly hopped out of the way of Kord and his attack, much to the Elekid's annoyance. "No," Katie grumbled, resisting the urge to scream in frustration. They were so close! "Cross Chop again!" she yelled.

Possibly the only downside of having Loki doing Arceus-knows what underground was that Keegan had absolutely no idea what the Arbok was currently up to. He only knew that at one point or another, Loki would burst from the ground and hopefully rip that Typhlosion a new one, but until then, he was just as clueless as the rest of the spectators, with or without the Smokescreen obscuring the majority of the battlefield. Even though he knew better, Keegan glared into the murky haze, almost wishing he knew what was going on inside his father's head. For now he'd have to settle for just listening, though his father's call of "Defense Curl" was almost inaudible.
That meant that both Todd and his Pokemon were ready for Loki's pending attack, and inwardly, Keegan winced a little. I sure hope Loki knows what he's doing, the redhead thought, scratching his chin and fighting the strong desire for a cigarette. He figured that after this battle, it was a safe bet that he could easily go through at least half a pack. The Smokescreen was slowly starting to lift, granting a hint of visibility as Keegan could see, at the very least, the flames blazing from the mane of the Volcano Pokemon. Okay pal, any time now, Keegan frowned, shifting his weight onto his heels, arms still folded across his chest. On cue, the Arbok erupted from the ground, almost directly beneath where Typhlosion stood. She tried to jump out of the way but was still caught up in the strike, managing to avoid at least some of the damage. Both Pokemon were starting to look quite battered, as did the field around their feet thanks to the burrowing Loki.
Keegan still could not see his father through the smoke, but he did hear, as plain as day, the next command for Typhlosion, and he felt himself pale. "Overheat."
Oh, no, was about the only thought Keegan was capable of as Typhlosion summoned all of her strength into one massive fireball, which, naturally, had been enhanced as her Blaze ability was now active. He tried to call out to Loki to move or burrow or anything, but his voice was drowned out by the roar of the flames. Loki had nowhere to go and he'd be pretty lucky if he wasn't reduced to nothing but a pile of Poison-type ashes by Typhlosion's attack. ===== As Miharu's Pinsir dealt with Zangoose, and quite handily, at that, Leroy closed the distance, his Ariados creeping along at his side. He wasn't sure if the terrified girl had noticed, but the chase had landed them somewhere in Olivine's relatively large port; the landmark Lighthouse standing tall above them. Leroy smirked as he watched the beacon sweep across the dark waters, alerting ships to the proximity of the shoreline. So the girl had managed to take out two of his Pokemon so far, but he wasn't worried. Zangoose had inflicted a lot of damage on the Pinsir and he watched as the large beetle Pokemon retreated to her trainer's side. Yes, he was going to be quite happy with his spoils from this little misadventure.
Miharu herself seemed to realized then that they were down by the docks now, her own gaze drawn up to the tall lighthouse for a moment or so before she remembered the peril she was in, and her eyes darted around frantically for signs of her pursuer. She wasn't about to get comfortable with the thought that she'd lost him as she quietly returned the Pinsir to her Park Ball, still glancing from side to side as every shadow seemed to jump out at her at once. Fear had taken over the girl's normally-rational mind and she was finding it almost impossible to think straight. Hide, her survival instinct told her, and she looked around once more before she darted off again. It didn't help that she didn't know this area of Olivine and that it was safe to say she was quite lost, but being lost was much better than being face-to-face with that lunatic.
Leroy watched the girl run again, an almost amused grin creeping across his face. She was scared out of her wits and he knew it, and he released his Banette alongside his Ariados. "Follow her," he whispered to the two Pokemon, glancing sharply at Ariados, who gave a quick nod in reply - he knew what to do. "Don't lose her, or you'll both regret it."
((Oh, is this post 1000? I think it is. Booya.))

It was hard for Kasiya not to share in Mike's enthusiasm as they set off toward the gym, though when Mike said something about destroying the gym, she paled slightly, even though she logically knew that it wasn't what he meant exactly. "Yeah, we're definitely going to win," she nodded, finding that it was still a little odd getting used to the fact that her boyfriend leaked smoke and lit up like a glo-stick when he was excited. "We've got this," she murmured, a smile still stuck on her face as she allowed Mike to lead them in the proper direction of the gym, for, as this was her first time in Mossdeep, she didn't know where anything was.
The gym itself wasn't all that hard to locate and she gave a little 'hmm' as they approached it. She'd never seen a gym like it before, but then again, she'd only seen Brawly's gym in Dewford (having seen Mike's and Keegan's battles there, well, most of Keegan's, anyway) and Flannery's gym in Lavaridge so she didn't have much to compare it to. She felt her heart flutter with excitement and she grinned as they got closer, the idea that these trainers were probably psychics hardly even registering in her mind.
She was pretty silent as they entered the open gym, taking in the sights and of the pretty badge emblem up on the wall. She'd been staring at it in admiration at it when the first young man approached them, and it wasn't until Mike spoke up that she realized she should pay attention too. She'd been a little worried about them not being able to tag-team the gym, but when it turned out not to be the case, she relaxed a little, her eyes following the telekinetically-controlled Pokeball.
"They kinda look like pajamas," she whispered back, also not meaning anything offensive as it was in fact just the opposite: she thought the gym's uniforms looked quite comfortable. She joined Mike on the battlefield, her fingers already closed around Twilight's Pokeball as they were greeted with their opponents' Pokemon - a graceful-looking Kirlia and a Kadabra. Having known people who'd raised both Pokemon, she smiled a little. Hopefully there would be no... surprises in store for them. She raised her arm to throw Twilight's Pokeball, casting Mike an almost dark look as he very nearly ripped a Pokeball from the strap of his bag - no wonder his things were always in such rough shape. Titanium was far less imposing when he was on her side, and she grinned up at the Iron Snake Pokemon as she finally released Twilight.
The Umbreon appeared in a dazzling array of blue and golden sparkles, his blue rings glowing quite brilliantly. It was safe to say that in his past few days with his trainer, he'd started to acquire a taste for battle and he pawed the ground as he looked at his opponents - and the giant metal snake thing that appeared to be on his side. "Twilight, let's make this fast!"
The Kadabra's trainer, Maura, gave a soft exhale as she studied both opponents. This would be tricky, that was for certain. Reflect, she said mentally to her Pokemon, and the Psi Pokemon raised his spoon, focusing on it as dual panes of reflective glass appeared by he and his partner. Both he and Maura had a feeling that they'd need all the help they could get against this pair of trainers.
=-=-=-=-= Jake's expression was one of apprehension as he and the little girl plus one very strange Psychic/Flying-type Pokemon crossed the grounds toward the mansion. Jake glanced around the yard as they walked, wondering just how long it had been since this place had a groundskeeper looking after it. He spotted an old-fashioned electric lawnmower lying abandoned by what looked like a shed, though one could hardly call it that anymore as it was missing a portion of the roof as well as the entire far wall. It's such a shame, the tall blonde thought, frowning as the little girl continued to lead.
"Not that way!" she scolded him as he'd headed for the main staircase to the grand front doors. Instead they inched around to the back, and Jake couldn't help but feel like some sort of criminal, skulking in the shadows as they reached a side door. Jake looked over his shoulder once again as he pulled it open, ignoring the accompanying creepy squeaking of the hinges as he did so. It wasn't completely dark inside thanks to the broken windows, but the interior almost seemed to look worse than the outside did. The door banged shut behind him, causing him to jump and he grabbed on to one of Sigilyph's pointy-arm things in surprise. The Avianoid Pokemon didn't appear to care, only staring quietly at his trainer as he relinquished his grip and cleared his throat.
"Say Maddie... do you really live here?" he asked, looking around for the little pig-tailed girl, but she was nowhere to be seen. Neither was her pointy-electric-friend, and Jake gulped a little. "Uh. Maddie? Where'd you go?" he asked tentatively, reaching down and pulling Magnemite's Pokeball from his belt. Both he and Sigilyph turned as they heard a scraping sound from down the hall, and Jake did his best to stay calm as he inched toward it. "Madison? Please come back. This... this isn't funny."
=-=-=-=-= The Wartortle was looking a little shaken up after having taken that Double Kick to its chest, but it shook it off, teeth grit in determination. Its trainer ordered a Water Gun and as the Water-type loosed the stream at its opponent, Karrigan quickly realized that the previous Sunny Day had severely weakened the Water Gun. That's a good strategy, she thought, wondering if she should teach Sunny Day to Amber. It would also strengthen her Fire-type moves while offering some protection from Water-type attacks. The Combusken tried to shrug off the attack but it did cause it some discomfort as it threw back its head and gave a cry, getting itself all worked up by means of Focus Energy.
Combusken was given the command for another Double Kick and it rushed forward, beginning to spin as it prepared to slam another pair of successive kicks onto the Water-type. "Protect!" had been the call from Wartortle 's trainer and it dropped to the ground, pulling its head and all of its limbs - including its tail - into its shell, a greenish glow surrounding it. Protect certainly lived up to its name as it shielded the Water-type from what would have been a pair of very solid strikes, and the Young Fowl Pokemon gave an irritated cry, and in the process, it let its guard down. In that moment, Wartortle sprang up, throwing all of its weight into the Fire/Fighting-type for a rather well-aimed and very surprise Tackle. Both Pokemon crashed hard to the deck floor, fluffy tails and feathers and claws flying. This battle wasn't over yet, it seemed.

The worry of interrupting the researcher was abated now and Kressen smiled happily as strode forward."Thank you sir. Yes, sir I'm from Viridian city. I'd would have gotten here sooner, but err Beedrill make a rather dangerous detour hehehe." He rubbed the back of his head looking a little embarrassed.
As he approached the thought of Odin's sudden appearance hit him. Perhaps the Professor could answer what on earth happened to cause a Pawniard to appear in egg form in his arms. It was at least an interesting story to tell to break the ice.
He'd save it for later though. He kinda wanted to focus on seeing what the place looked like. It's not everyday one got to walk about a pokemon researchers house.

"...Brutal," was all Keegan could really think of to say as he recalled Loki into his PokeBall, shaking his head a little as he did so. He thought the Arbok had performed admirably and was definitely not one to be trifled with, even if Keegan thought his dad had gone just a little bit overboard with that last overheat. He studied the Typhlosion for a few moments, knowing that she probably couldn't take too many more hits before she'd be defeated, and Keegan was a little disappointed that he wouldn't be sweeping his dad's team with a single Pokemon, but whatever. He smirked a bit, tossing a Great Ball up and down a few times, decidedly pleased with his next Pokemon. "Tierra, you're up," he said, giving it a throw. "And if you're asleep I swear on my life I"m gonna..." his voice trailed off into incomprehensible grumbling as the Golem appeared, the ground shaking beneath her solid form. She wasn't asleep, which was a bit of a surprise, and Keegan relaxed a little. Not having to spend her first five turns of battle trying to wake her up would definitely be a plus.
Some of Typhlosion's Smokescreen still lingered in the air, and neither she nor Mr Summers appeared to be fazed by the sight of the Golem. If anything, Todd looked almost pleased with his son's choice in Pokemon. The grin he wore made Keegan's stomach knot up a little. "Lava Plume." Typhlosion took a few steps forward, the flames on her mane diminishing. It didn't last, however, as a moment later, an inferno of fire erupted from her, filling virtually the entire battlefield with scarlet flames.
"Okay," Keegan murmured, taking an involuntary step back as he really did not want to get up close and personal with those flames. He wasn't too sure if he should be worried or not, as not only had Typhlosion's special attack power taken a hit from using Overheat, but Rock-types resisted Fire-type attacks. Now, Tierra's special defense wasn't exactly of Blissey caliber either and he frowned, hoping that Tierra would tough it out. The inferno petered out a few moments later, leaving scorch marks covering large portions of the battle area. The good news in all of this was that Tierra was still standing, but the bad news, which Keegan noticed right away, was that she'd sustained a burn. "Ah, ******** me," he sighed, pinching his temples with his thumb and index finger. ===== Miharu's mind was almost running strictly on survival mode at this point as she hugged the walls and darted in and out from behind shipping crates. She could hear the sound of the waves breaking against the docks and rocky ground and it did little to ease her anxiety. She needed to get away from this end of town and back into an area she knew. Better yet, she needed to find another person - any person - that wasn't Leroy Rockwell. After a while she realized that the sound of the water was growing louder, which meant she'd been going in the wrong direction. The streetlights seemed few and far between and she let out a frightened cry as a Rattata scampered across the pavement near her feet.
Leroy, meanwhile, stuck to the shadows, his fingers making light contact with the fine string of silk that had been left behind by Ariados. He couldn't hear either of his Pokemon and they'd used this method to communicate direction before. He almost felt bad for causing such a nightmare for the girl, but if she'd just handed over her Pokemon in the first place, they wouldn't be here right now. "Come out, come out, wherever you are," he called out in a singsong voice, catching sight of his Banette out of the corner of his eye. Both Pokemon had line of sight on the girl, though he'd only released the Marionette Pokemon to act as an extra pair of eyes. They were near the water now and he knew that she had been essentially trapped, especially if Ariados had done his job properly.
Trapped was exactly how Miharu was feeling, as now whenever she looked into the shadows she saw glowing eyes staring back on her. She knew she had to pick a direction and go for it, and as she looked up at the lighthouse once more, she forced herself to relax. With her mind a bit more at ease, she was able to orient herself in relation to the lighthouse and she knew she had to head in a generally westward direction, and as she started to inch along the low wall she'd taken refuge behind, her foot caught something and she hit the ground once again. She grasped around in the darkness for what had tripped her - it was a length of solid wood and she decided to hang on to it. It had good weight to it and even though she wasn't much of a fighter by nature, she felt safer with the improvised weapon in her hands.

It was definitely time for Totodile to shine as she raced - literally raced - forward to greet the Arbok with her fangs, easily sidestepping a second wild spray of Poison Sting in the process. The Cobra Pokemon whipped its head around in a frenzy to try and get a lock on the little gator but she was just too fast at the moment. It wouldn't even get a chance to regroup as Totodile found a particularly juicy-looking portion of her opponent's tail to chomp down on and she did just that, giving the Arbok a reason to screech out in pain. Jasper was starting to feel pretty sorry for initially underestimating the water type, even as the Arbok shook her off and gave her a rather firm slap with its tail, knocking her to the ground.
Jasper opened his mouth to call out to her, but the gator had a curious, almost-evil red tint to her eyes as she got to her feet, and for a fleeting moment, Jasper thought her Rage attack had been triggered. This wasn't the case, however, as he watched the Arbok's reaction. It was a little bit strange as now it was the Arbok that appeared to be frightened, and Jasper managed to clue in relatively quickly that this was her Scary Face. Very nice indeed. "You've got this," he called out, having regained the use of his arms as Zorua had decided his head was a much better place to watch the battle from. "Bite it again! That worked really well before," he suggested, and the little water type gave a nod, eagerly rushing her much larger target.
Even though it felt a little sluggish, the Arbok was getting tired of this little blue punk. It carefully watched Totodile's every move, waiting until the absolutely perfect moment to strike, its own jaws gaping open as it struck the gator with a devastating Crunch attack. Totodile couldn't recall being in this much pain before and as she opened her eyes, she felt herself being lifted off the ground. She was still caught in the Cobra Pokemon's ironclad bite and she struggled, finally understanding what it felt like when she clamped down on her opponents. She flailed about wildly, feeling the Arbok's teeth cutting into her as she did so, but she had to get free. As a last ditch effort, she released a wild Water Gun, which caught the serpent right in the face, causing it to thrash about and lose its grip on the gator. She went for a small ride before coming down hard on the ground, her entire body feeling as though she'd been run over by something incredibly heavy. Regardless, she wasn't ready to give in yet and she stood tall, giving a sharp growl to show that she wasn't backing down. At the same time, she was unaware of the fact that her body had started to give off a white-hot light.
"Wait... what's happening?" Jasper asked, holding up a hand to shield his eyes as the bright light enveloped his Pokemon. He didn't know if he should be worried or not as he'd never experienced something like this before. Whatever it was, however, it didn't last long, and just like that, the white light was gone. And so was Totodile, for that matter, for in her stead was a larger, mature-looking Croconaw. * * * * * * * * * * Cynder rolled his eyes as his hapless trainer called out to him for help and he quickly darted in between the warring Snivy and Pikachu. The Charmander, however, quickly discovered that this was not the best idea he'd ever had as he took a vine to the face and a bolt of lightning whizzed by his head. He stomped his foot and let out a fierce growl, and when that didn't work he quickly tossed his head from side to side, spewing two separate bursts of flame to the feet of the two angry Pokemon. This seemed to get the message through and they stood down, though they both refused to look at the other. "Whew, thank goodness that's over," Hayley sighed in relief, bending down to rub her Charmander's head. "You sure showed them," she said, and Cynder pushed out his chest a little and gave a nod.
Now that the fighting had ceased, the pair of young Caterpie poked their head out of the bushes, checking to see if it was safe. Tisyphone and Mya both looked relieved as well, though there was still plenty of tension between Ivy and the Pikachu. "Hey, there's no need for all that," Hayley said, plucking a few of the nicest Oran Berries from one of the bushes. "We're all friends here, okay?" She knelt down in front of the electric mouse to make her offering, which was accepted after a few curious sniffs and a couple of nasty glances in the Snivy's direction. Ivy huffed and snatched a couple of berries with her vines, as it was quite apparent how deft she'd already become with them. "See? That's better," Hayley smiled, her attention completely on the Mouse Pokemon as she stuffed a berry in her mouth.
"I'm so happy to finally meet you," the young Watcher went on, having picked up her sketchbook. "Well, at least one of you. I've always loved Pikachu! So cute and yellow and plushy and soft! And your electric attacks are marvelous!" The brunette prattled on and on as her pencil made delicate strokes across the paper, perfectly capturing the mouse's likeness. Next she took out a little measuring tape and held it out, murmuring to herself as she took in the mouse's size. The Pikachu watched the girl with a sort of annoyed expression - she'd never met a human like this before. All the others she'd ever met immediately sicced their Pokemon on her, and she'd busted out of and dodged more Pokeballs than there were berries on the nearest bush. The Pikachu grinned a little at that thought, already imagining the disappointed look in this human's eyes as she eluded capture yet again.
