Arielle Shore
Arielle hoped that maybe her words would help better things between Athena and Dimitri. However, she realized how wrong she was when Athena still was acting the same towards Dimitri. What made it worse was that she thought that he was stalking Maria even thought that was hardly the case. She sighed, knowing that it would take awhile for those two to see eye to eye.
Arielle watched as Kedrick led Dimitri to the back to help him set up the tables, wondering if the two of them would be enough when another car pulled up. The somewhat modern car was a familiar sight to Arielle and she smiled brightly as the car turned off and her grandfather was the first to come out of the car, followed alongside by her grandmother from the passenger side. She waved happily to them and looked back at Kedrick's sisters. "Any of you mind helping me take some things out of my grandparents' car? They're going to need all the help they can get," Arielle asked, hoping that any of them were willing to help.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Kyla bounced to her feet, she had still been lying on the ground from when Kedrick had deposited her there. "Sure! No problem!" She said with a smile, her cropped, boyish hair tousled and unruly.
Samiki sighed and pulled her younger sister over, combing her fingers though this girls tousled hair. "Yeah, as soon as you look presentable." She said dryly, trying to get a stubborn piece of hair to lie flat.
Kyla began to squirm and complain. "Sakimiiii...." She said, shift to try and get her head away. "Your nails hurt..." Kyla wined.
Sakimi snorted, "I'm hardly touching you now hold still!"She wrapped her free arm around the girls shoulders holding her tightly and continuing to work on her hair. "You go start okay," She said distractedly to Athena, still wresting with a squirming Kyla. "I've got this one to manage and then I'll be over. Keira, Raine, Gwen, you help too."
Athena smiled and saluted Sakimi. "Yes Ma'am!" She said, laughing and turned to Arielle as Raine, Gwen, and Keira came over as well. "I can't wait to meet your Grandparents, they sound wonderful." She said with a smile. Out in the back yard. Dimitri looked up, hearing a car in the driveway. His heart thumped loudly in his chest. "Maybe that's Maria..." He murmured under his breath. He shifted, suddenly uncomfortable. "Her whole family is coming..." He added lamely.Kedrick smiled. "Yup, I know, I'm really excited to meet them all! Her mom, brothers, her dad, and a lot of the officers he works with." He said brightly, oblivious to his friends plight."Yeah...her dad..." He said softly, his stomach turning somersaults. 'What's he going to think of me?'

Arielle Shore
"Glad to know you're enthusiastic to help, Kyla," Arielle said before Sakimi had stopped the young girl and went to fix her hair. She couldn't understand why her mind was bringing up the one scene from The Lion King when Sarabi, Simba's mother, was giving Simba a bath before he left with Nala to go on their little adventure to the Elephant Graveyard.
She smiled and after Sakimi instructed some more of the younger girls to help her and her grandparents out. She nodded and started heading over to her grandparents car. "They are wonderful," Arielle said with a small prideful smile, "And their cooking is amazing. No one will ever let me admit that their cooking is better than mine. But they're wonderful people and great caretakers too. I'm sure they're excited to meet the entire Suwa crew."
As they got closer, her grandmother stopped what she was doing and walked over to her granddaughter, wrapping her in her arms and giving her a hug. She moved back and smiled at Kedrick's sisters. "Are these young ladies helping us take some of the food to the back sweetheart?"
Arielle nodded and took a few step backs before she began her introduction of Kedrick's sisters. "Grandma, this is Athena, Raine, Gwen, and Keira," Arielle said, pointing to each one so her grandmother knew, "These are some of Kedrick's sisters. The others are still on the porch."
"Well it definitely is a pleasure to meet you girls," Arielle's grandmother said, "As you can tell, I'm Arielle's grandmother, but you can call me Mrs. Fields. Now, if you'll follow me, I'll escort you to our car. Please do not be distracted by the heavenly smell of our food." She giggled and walked over to the car, Arielle following behind her so that they could take out the food. Majority of the food was in the back seat, some in plastic containers, some in glass pans, and others in aluminum pans, all covered with aluminum.
Arielle's grandfather was getting things out of the trunk, mainly his barbequing supplies. If there was one area of cooking that her grandfather was the best at, it was definitely on the grill. He was wearing an apron Arielle got him for Christmas years ago that read "Best Griller on the Planet", his hands carrying a small satchel of the items he used to grill. The trunk door closed and her grandfather looked at the sudden mass of girls at his car before smiling. "I see Arielle recruited some help," her grandfather said warmly, "May I ask who these young ladies are."
"These are Kedrick's sisters, Milton," Arielle's grandmother responded, "And they're here to help us carry all of our food to where they need to go."
Her grandfather nodded and gave the girls a simple wave, "It's wonderful to meet you all and I'm glad you could lend a helping hand. You may call me Mr. Fields but I'm sure the name will change eventually. Now, feel free to take as many trips as you need to take the food in because I don't want either of you young ladies carrying too much food, alright?"

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Athena smiled at Arielle's grandparents "It's nice to meet both of you." She said, nodding her head to each of them in turn, The young girl's heart fluttered with excitement, she was happy to finally be meeting some of Arielle' s family.
Kyla, having freed herself from Sakimi, her hair now lying relatively flat, came running over. "Okay! I'm here!" She cried, skidding to a stop in front of Mr. Fields. She looked up at him in silence for a moment, then seized his hand and began pumping it energetically, much as she had done with Arielle so many weeks ago. "Hello, you must be Arielle's grandfather, I don't know who you are but I'm sure we'll get along famously, Arielle has told me all about you! Well, no not really, but I thought it'd sound nice to say, I'm Kyla by the way, Kedrick's sister, I'm eleven and I don't like sour kraut." Somehow the girl managed to get this all out in one breath, still pumping Mr. Field's hand.
Quiet, Gothic Keira looked mortified at her sister's brash behavior, her mouth gaping slightly. She hissed something too quiet to hear at her, trying to tug her away and give Mr. Fields some space.
Kyla looked at her sister, stuck out her tongue and then hissed back. "Oh he doesn't mind! You don't do you sir?" She asked with a would be angelic smile.
Athena smiled patiently at her two sisters before loading her arms with bags of potato chips and heading to the back yard.
In the yard, Kedrick looked over at Dimitri, looking slightly confused. "Yeah? What about her dad?" He asked, his eyes narrowing slightly, and then a small, sympathetic smile touched his lips and he walked over to his friend. "You're nervous aren't you?" He asked gently, placing a hand on the other boy's shoulder.Dimitri gave a short bark of a laugh. "How in the world did you guess?" He asked sarcastically. "I'm terrified Kedrick! And I haven't even met him yet!" He said his voice raising slightly as he pulled some more chairs up to the plastic tables. Dimitri sighed, dropping his head and looking defeated. "What if he doesn't like me?" He asked, looking over at Kedrick as though pleading for an answer."What if he thinks I'm inappropriate company for her and tells me I can't see her anymore?..."Kedrick smiled slightly, ducking his head. "You worry too much Dimitri, Maria's dad sounds like a great guy, I'm sure he'll love you!" He said with a soft laugh."And if he doesn't? What then!" He asked, throwing his hands up in defeat.Kedrick didn't answer, hoping Dimitri would come to the right conclusion on his own.
Neither of them noticed Athena hovering at the edge of the yard, listening to the boy's conversation with a thoughtful expression. It was one thing to be acting like he was in love in front of her and Arielle, but this looked totally different. The one thing Athena had never been able to discredit Dimitri on was his honesty with Kedrick, and if he was really so worried about meeting Maria's father, Kedrick would be the only one he wouldn't lie to. She waited a moment until there was a laps in their conversation and then walked out to set her arm load down, purposefully walking loudly enough to make her presence know.

Arielle Shore
Mr. Fields blinked in surprise when Kyla ran over to him and gave him the most enthusiastic introduction he had ever seen, topping the one that Maria had given him many years ago. He chuckled lightly and smiled at Kyla, nodding to her question after her one sister had scolded her. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Kyla," he responded, his smile growing, "You remind me of Arielle's best friend, Maria, when she was younger. When I first met her, she was such a hyper ball of energy. Well, she still is now, but she's a bit more calmer as the years have gone by. Are you also here to help us?"
"She sure is grandpa," Arielle said with a smile, pulling out two long aluminum pans carefully, "The more the merrier, right?" She balanced the pans carefully until she was sure she had a secure grip, then making her way to the backyard.
"You're brother lives on such a beautiful estate," Arielle's grandmother said as she pulled some food out, "Even though this is my second time, it still takes my breath away." She paused and looked back on the remaining sisters. "What is your home like if you don't mind me asking."

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Kyla blinked. "Our house? Like our home? The place we live?" She asked as though it actually needed further clarification. "Oh yeah, it a greeeeaaaat big house," She said, gesturing hugely with her arms. "It's not as big as Kedrick's, it's just two stories and an attic but it's longish, and wideish." Kyla frowned slightly, him mind was too fast moving to be captivated with little details but for their sake she tried to come up with the right words. She picked up a cover bowl of salad. "It's made of brick, and it has a shingled roof with a weird garnish on top.
To their surprise, Raine spoke up. "It's not a garnish..." She said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's called a french roof line..." She trailed off uncertainly picturing the roof of the house in her mind.
Kyla looked at her, shocked. Normal Raine didn't talk at all in front of strangers, she must have decided that she liked Arielle's grandparents. "Well, either way," Kyla continued briskly. "we have a front yard and a back yard but we play in the back yard because mommy's garden is in the front."
Sakimi scooped up an armload of food and supplies. "Yeah but who takes care of it now?" She grumbled under her breath, looking slightly disgusted.
"Oh Sakimi don't be bitter." Kyla chided, loading some stuff into little Raine's arms. "Mommy can't help it, she's just busy." Kyla heard a derisive snort from her oldest sister but chose not to respond to it or pay it any notice for that matter. "C'mmon Rainey! Let's go take this back!" He said, and she and the younger girl disappeared around the corner of the house. Dimitri looked up as Athena, and eventually the two younger sisters came into the back yard. He readied some snappish comment in his mind in case she decided to jab at him about being a stalker again. But strangely enough, she didn't, when he caught her glance, she looked away as though he confused her. He shook his head slightly and turned to Kyla who had never really minded him. "Who's out front?" He asked anxiously."Hhhmmmm...." Kyla hummed thoughtfully, setting down the salad and touching a finger to her lips. "Rudolph?" She asked. "The Easter bunny?"Dimitri smacked his hand on his forehead. "No Kyla! I'm asking you! Who's out there!" Kyla sighed as though Dimitri had just ended a wonderful game prematurely. "Okay fine, it's Arielle's grandparents." She said looked haughtily away from him.

Arielle Shore
Arielle's grandmother listened intently to Kyla's explanation of the home where the girls actually lived. The picture inside her mind made her want to see the house for herself. She blinked in surprise when the younger girl spoke up, although it was quiet. She smiled, still letting the image of the house go through her head.
She didn't day anything as the sisters continued on with their own conversation, just looking over int he car to see how much was left. She was surprised that the car was pretty much empty of the food she had brought, and most of the stuff in the containers were things she made for desert. While most of Kedrick's sisters were taking the food to the backyard, Mrs. Fields made sure to get everything out before closing the door with her hip.
"Now there's no way I'm letting my wife carry all of this," Mr. Fields said with a smile, picking up some of the food with his hands, being able to carry more with his wide arms. "Plus, you know a man is traditionally carry the weight more than a woman."
Mrs. Fields smiled and laughed, following her husband to where everyone else is. "That may be true," she said with a slight agreeing nod, "But we all know that I'm just as strong for being in my late fifties and not as fragile as the men back then used to think."
Arielle had gone in the house with the food she was carrying to get the dishes she made. She knew that it would add extra weight to her load put she didn't care. Sitting the pans she pulled out from her grandparents' car down on the counter, she walked to the fridge and searched until she found a pyramid of food in containers, basically four medium sized bowls. She took them all out at once and closed the door, returning back over to sit on top of the two long aluminum pans. When everything was secure, she picked everything up and walked through one of the doors that led to the backyard, entering the scene at the same time as her grandparents.
"Dimitri, my young friend, if it isn't a pleasure to see you again," Mr. Fields said with a bright smile before scanning the eyes for Kedrick, "As well as you Mr. Kedrick. I see you boys have been doing pretty well since the last time I saw you."
"We brought more of our wonderful cooking," Mrs. Fields said with a light laugh, "I'm sure your stomachs were missing that since the last time we visited you."
"Oh you guys are ridiculous," Arielle teased as she carried the items in her arms over to the table where a majority of the food was already placed at.

The young man's smile brightened. For some reason, it made him feel good to have Mr. Fields address him as 'my young friend' He wasn't entirely sure why, but it did. "It's good to see you again too sir." He said, walking over and helping Arielle get her armload taken care of.Kedrick grinned, glad to see Dimitri getting along with Arielle's grandparents. He smiled at Mrs. Fields. "Yes Ma'am." He agreed readily, "I've been looking forward to this barbeque for weeks just to tast your cooking again." Kedrick said jokingly and the smiled warmly at the woman. "It's good to see you both again." He kissed her cheek gently. "Can I carry that for you?" Dimitri strained his ears as he help unload, he was listening for the sound of car tires crunch gravel. Once he heard this sound he knew he'd start fretting about it being, or not being Maria all over again.Athena was standing next to him, she looked over, once again seeming like she couldn't quite figure him out. "What?" She asked, her voice softer than before but she was clearly still trying to sound like she didn't like him. "You look all frantic... what's up?"Dimitri sighed softly, now he could figure Athena out as much as she couldn't figure out him. "I'm not frantic, I'm just listening to see if I can hear someone pulling in..." He realized he probably needed to add a bit more explanation. "It's just...I'm meeting my gir-...my good friend's father today..and I don't think he's going to like me."

Arielle Shore
"You know you didn't need to help me with that, Dimitri," Arielle said with a small smile, still holding onto the two long pans, "But thanks anyway." She looked back at Kedrick who was happily talking with her grandma and giggled.
Her grandfather also chuckled and with his free hand, walked over to Kedrick and messed with his hair. "This woman has been taken for the past twenty-five years," he chuckled in a playful manner, knowing that Kedrick's kiss on the cheek meant no harm, "And don't bother asking her that. She'll just turn you down and say that she has it covered and that she's not that old to need help. Stubborn woman she is."
"But I'm still your wife," Mrs. Fields said with a smile before looking at Kedrick, "However, my husband is right. I appreciate the offer of help but I'll be doing fine taking this over to the table of food. I'm still strong enough to do this on my own." She smiled warmly and continued on her way to the table that had most of the food on there, sitting it down and fixing the ones on the table and putting them in a presentable order.
"She always has a tendency to do that," Mr. Fields said with a soft smile before glancing down at Kedrick, "Where is the grill if you don't mind me asking? I wanted to get started on grilling the meat as soon as possible. It's already been marinated and and seasoned because I find that to do a better job than just throwing the food on the grill. I hope I'm not boring you with any of my talk." Mr. Fields finished with a smile, again chuckling.
After Arielle placed the two long pans on the table, she walked back over to Dimitri and Athena, who were surprisingly talking without spurting insults or accusations. She caught bits of the conversation but was still confused. Feeling sure she wasn't particularly noticed, she walked up to the two of them and wrapped one arm around each one. "Is this a miracle I see?" Arielle asked in a good humor, "You two are having a pleasant conversation and no one looks mad," she paused and glanced at Dimitri's face, "But you do look troubled about something."

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Kedrick just grinned at Mr. Field's comment, ducking his head slightly as he ruffled his hair. "Yes sir." He said with a smile. His listened a moment long then, in answer to his question about the grill, he straightened up. "It's this way, I took the cover off already." He said, having him follow him up the two steps onto the low back porch where the grill was. "Here we are." He said with a smile, running his hand over the metallic surface of the grill. He wasn't really sure how to use it himself so it hadn't gotten much use since his own grandfather had passed away. "It hasn't been used in a long time so I hope it works okay." Kedrick said sheepishly. Dimitri jumped slightly as Arielle approached, having not seen her coming. He was glad to see Athena look startled too, it was nice to know he wasn't the only one who had been spaced out. He laughed nervously. "N-no miracle..." Athena said with a slight blush, looked almost embarrassed to have been caught speaking civilly to him. She rubbed the back of her neck, looking uncertain. Dimitri smiled reassuringly at Arielle. "I fine, I promise...it's just, I'm a bit nervous about meeting Maria's family...I kind of have a funny thing with...you know...meeting peoples parents..." He said, his voice dropping to a slightly husky whisper though Arielle could still hear it. The dark haired boy squirmed uncomfortably, even just talking about it made his stomach turn.

Arielle Shore
Mr. Fields followed Kedrick to where the grill was, keeping a mental reminder that he needed to get some of the food of the table, which were the long aluminum pans that Arielle brought in. When they reached the grill, Mr. Fields looked over it, finding out where certain buttons or dials were since it wasn't the one at his home. Messing with a few of the buttons and dials, Mr. Fields was able to get it turned on after Kedrick had mentioned about hoping that it worked. He looked over at Kedrick and smiled at him. "What can I say?" he said with a slight shrug of his shoulders, his smile still there, "I've got the magic touch when it comes to grills. Ask my wife, she definitely knows."
Mr. Fields set the temperature at a reasonable degree before sitting his grilling items down. He looked back at Kedrick as he stood up straight. "Well, now that we know that's working," he started, already making his way back, "Just have to get the meat from the table and the charcoal. Then I can get the ball rolling. And you my young future grandson-in-law, can spend time with Arielle and everyone else." He smiled, a joking light in his eyes when he mentioned grandson-in-law. He remembered how embarrassed the two of them were when Arielle had first brought him home, and how he and his wife didn't make things any better with their embarrassing talk. He was glad that his granddaughter ended up with Kedrick, and couldn't escape the feeling that it almost reminded him of how his sweet daughter and his son-in-law were when they had first started. A small distant smile appeared on his lips as he walked up the steps and made his way to the food, finding his wife making the finishing touches on the presentation of the food.
"You do know there's no point in that once more guests arrive?" he asked her with a smile as he kissed her cheek, picking up the two aluminum pans that Arielle had carried, "And you know how the Vázquez family always brings more food than necessary."
"And I'll organize everything neatly again when they bring more food over," Mrs. Fields said with a teasing smile, "Now hurry up and get to grilling, we'll have a lot of hungry mouths to feed soon."
Mr. Fields chuckled and nodded, finding the charcoal bag that they had brought and slipped it on his shoulder and carrying all of the things he had possession of and returned to where the grill was at.
Arielle smiled and removed her arms from her two friends. She looked at Dimitri and listened to what was troubling him before smiling. "There's nothing to worry about with meeting her parents," she started before thinking it over, "I mean, it is your first time and it can be nerve wracking, but Maria's parents are so loving and accepting, I'm sure they'll like you no matter what. Her brothers are goofballs, but they're sweet goofballs. Just trust me on this."
She gave Dimitri a reassuring smile, hoping that it would calm his nerves down. She was about to ask him about when he was going to ask Maria out when she heard the sound of tires crunching over the gravel. There was no doubt in her mind that it was the rest of the party. "Looks like more guests are here," Arielle said happily as she made her way to the front.
A total of five cars pulled up. The smaller ones each had four to five passengers in them and were all of Maria's father's men. As they each turned off their cars, an assortment of men of different ages, shapes, and national backgrounds came out. You could barely tell that any of them were officially cops because they looked so relaxed in their jeans, sweaters, jackets, and hoodies. As they got closer, Arielle waved to them all and pointed the direction of where they needed to go.
The last car that was more of a tan family fan. Decent car that wasn't too expensive or too cheap, and could barely tell that the car itself was about ten years old since it ran so well. The passenger door opened and a young woman came out wearing a simple dress and flats, her hair was a darker shade of russet and she had soft brown eyes. Next the sliding door on the side that the young woman came from was opening and two young men came out, having a heated discussion between Spanish and English. The taller one had a simple short hair style with some of his hair swooping over to the left side of his face and there were faint signs of a goatee appearing. The shorter one, although not too much shorter than his brother, had short enough hair that it almost spiked up. They were both wearing comfortable jeans and Converse sneakers. One of them was wearing a sports jacket that read Bolivia and the other brother wore one that said Peru.
"Eneas! Ulises!" Arielle called out, her arms waving excitedly at the two brothers. She hadn't seem them in such a long time and she was obviously happy to see them.
Both boys stopped their arguing and turned to look at Arielle before waving back at her happily. They almost responded when another passenger came out of the car, trying to kick her way through there.
"You boys need to stop blocking the way so I can get out," Maria muttered to them in Spanish, successfully getting out of the van. She was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans, a pale brown sweater with a nice white tank and brown boots. She wore brown feather earrings in her ears. She had an array of bracelets, which were split in half and worn on both of her arms. Her hair was pulled into a low ponytail on her right side, a newspaper boy hat on her head the same color as her boots. She had a bag strapped across her back as well.
"You didn't have to rudely interrupt us, Ria," Eneas said, making a face at his little sister, "We were just about to say hi to Ari."
"Well do so without blocking the way!" she growled back, returning the gesture of face taunting. She would've shouted more but her mother was giving them a look that told them to stop it. The young girl sighed and stuck her tongue out one last time. "Just don't embarrass me, alright?"
Ulises smiled in a way that Maria could tell he would not keep his promise. "We're family, that's our job," he replied simply, pulling on her hair, "Especially when we meet this Dimitri of yours."
"And we're going to tell him how you talk about him in your sleep as well," Eneas said, before clasping his hands together and raising his leg up, "Oh Dimitri I love you. Dimitri, Dimitri, Dimitri~!"
Maria felt her cheeks heat up badly, which only made things worse as Ulises joined in and they continued the chant.
"That's enough from the both of you," came a gruff voice in the back. He stood close to six feet, being taller than both of his sons and with a muscular build. His hair was short enough that it felt fuzzy if you ran your hand over it. He had a smooth beard and a faint mustache, his clothes being a plaid button up shirt, casual dress shoes, and jeans. "You know better than to mess with your baby sister. Now come and help your mother and I take the food out of the car."
"Thanks papá," Maria said with a smile before making a face at her two older brothers and slipped away from them, making her way towards Arielle, Dimitri, and another girl that was with them. As she got closer, she smiled, waving at them but in the back of her mind was hoping that what she picked was a good outfit choice.
Arielle walked over to Maria and attacked her with a hug. The two girls giggled, spinning around somewhat before moving apart, both smiling warmly. "It's about time you came," Arielle said with a smile, "I'm so glad you didn't decide to come halfway through everything."
Maria giggled and playfully poked Arielle in the stomach. "You should know by know that I love arriving fashionably late. Plus, we had to trust on my memory of getting here so no one would be lost."
Arielle nodded and led her friend over to Dimitri and Athena. "Well, you already know that knucklehead," Arielle said with a joking smile as she looked at Dimitri, "And this here is one of Kedrick's sisters, Athena."
Maria smiled and held out her hand for Athena to shake, "It's such a pleasure to finally meet you Athena. Arielle has told me a lot about you. I can't wait to start hanging out with you. When you're with me, you're always going to have a lot of fun."

Athena laughed softly, covering her mouth lightly with her finger tips. She smiled as Maria walked over, she was very excited to meet Arielle's friend, she sounded like so much fun! She reached out, taking the other girl's hand and shaking it, a smile still lighting her face. "I can't wait!" She said, and then looked over at Arielle with a teasing smirk. "This one here still owes me a girl's day out remember?" Athena asked, reflecting on the day she and Kedrick had come to visit her in the hospital and Arielle had promised that She would take her out on an outing with Maria and her sometime. Dimitri felt a slow, slightly lovesick smile spread across his face. His heart was pounding with a mixture of excitement to see Maria again and nervousness at meeting her father especially, say nothing of her mother and two brothers. He shifted, and then, when Athena let go of Maria's hand he walked over to her. "Hey." He said with a trace of a smirk. "Good to see you again." He stepped forward, hugging Maria, his heart beating faster. Dimitri realized he had his eyes closed and opened them again, only to see a man who could only be Maria's father not far off. The boy's heart skipped a beat and his mouth went dry. He quickly let go, stepping back from Maria, desperately hopping her father hadn't gotten the wrong idea about the hug. "It-It's nice to see you again..." He stammers, feeling sick, and totally forgetting that he had already said something along those lines once before.Athena stared at Dimitri curiously, he seemed to have changed very quickly. He had gone from being the despicable flirt that she had rather detested until recently, to someone so nervous and tongue tied he could hardly say hello.
Kedrick looked over the heads of the arriving officers, thinking of what a fantastically diverse group they were. He caught sight of Maria and his grin widened. He waved at hand to the girl, hoping she saw, but she seemed to be busy talking to Dimitri and Athena. Kedrick frowned slightly, even from this distance he could see that Dimitri was acting oddly. He was rolling his weight from his heels to the balls of his feet, rocking back and forth. It was a nervous tick of his, Kedrick had seen him do it often when he was cornering into talking about his family. 'He must be really nervous...' Kedrick thought.'poor kid...'

Arielle Shore
Arielle held up her hands in self defense and laughed. "I haven't forgotten at all, Athena," Arielle said still smiling, "And now that my schedule is basically free, we can start that as soon as possible."
Maria smiled at the two girls, already anticipating their future get together. Her heart picked up speed as she saw Dimitri walk over to her. She was so happy to see him again, even though she had seen him the other day, but every second she was away from him, it felt like weeks worth of separation. She felt like she couldn't get any words out as he hugged her, already lost on cloud nine. She blinked in surprise when he broke away quickly and giggled lightly when he repeated something he already said. "It's nice to see you again as well, Dimitri," Maria said sweetly. She looked up and noticed Kedrick, returning a wave to him.
"Well, now that everyone's here," Arielle said, "I guess we can get this party started."
"There's no way you can start the party without us," came the voice of one of Maria's brothers, Eneas.
"I'm pretty sure you boys ruin it actually," Maria said drily, a teasing smirk on her face. "As soon as you step foot into a room, everyone's ready to run away because of fear of your obnoxiousness. Both you and Ulises."
"Now that's so mean of you to say, Ria," Eneas said in a mocking tone that he was hurt before laughing and walking over to Arielle, "You know I'd give you a hug, but my arms are full. Just tell me what makes you stay with such a troublemaker like her?"
"I am not a troublemaker, Eneas," Maria said, crossing her arms across her chest.
"Sure you aren't," Ulises grinned, coming along behind his brother carrying more food than him, "You're just papá's sweet little angelito and we're the evil troublemakers that make sure your life is miserable."
"Well that's more like it," Maria said, laughing as her brothers laughed along with her. Anyone could tell that they did stuff like this nonstop. "Sorry about that you two," Maria said as she looked back at Dimitri and Athena, "These are my goofball brothers, Eneas and Ulises. Eneas is surprisingly taller than Ulises, but they're still a royal pain."
"You were even more so once you could talk," Eneas muttered, glancing at his brother and exchanging a couple of laughs.
Maria ignored them and continued on with her introductions. "And Tweedledee and Tweedledum, this is Athena, one of Kedrick's sisters and Dimitri, a good friend of mine." She looked back at her brothers, who had a look in their eyes that they were ready to mess with her after their previous taunting of her sleep talk.
The two of them looked Dimitri over, a serious look overcoming their faces. Maria couldn't help but feel nervous when they were giving Dimitri a look like that, like they were already judging his worth. The seconds seemed to drag on as they continued their inspection, each walking around Dimitri and exchanging a few comments in Spanish. Finally, the stopped, returning to their position and looked over Dimitri one last time before breaking out of their serious mode, looking completely relaxed.
"I already like this guy," Eneas said with a charming smile before looking at Maria and switching into Spanish, "But do you really have to address him as "your good friend", Ria? The way you talk about him in your sleep and say how much you love him proves otherwise."
Maria was relieved when the inspection was over, but color soon appeared on her cheeks as he asked her an embarrassing question. She was once again ready to go off of them when she heard footsteps from behind and turned back to see her mother.
"Must I really repeat myself Eneas?" her mother asked with a sigh before looking at everyone else who was there and smiled. "It's so wonderful to see you again, Arielle. My you've grown up so well since the last time I saw you. I'll come back once I put this food away and then you can introduce me to all your friends."
"Yes mamá," Maria said with a smile as she watched her brothers and mother walk over to the table of food. Glancing back, she saw her father coming over on his way, carrying the rest of the food over.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Dimitri tried a shaky smile as Maria's two brothers walked over, they seemed nice enough, though they seemed to tease each other and Maria a lot. In a way, it was comforting and familiar, it was a lot like what he and Kedrick did all the time, bantering back and forth like that. He nodded to the two of the as Maria gave him their names, he knew he'd have to try hard to remember them. To forget his future girlfriends brother's names simply wouldn't do, so he repeated them several times in his head. It made him smile to hear Maria refer to them as tweedledee and tweedledum.Athena smiled as she two was introduced. "It's nice to meet both of you." She said ducking her head slightly, her long white-blonde pony-tail sliding over her shoulder. The girl glanced sideways, seeing that Sakimi had moved to help with the food some more and Raine was now standing all by herself. She looked like she wanted to curl in on herself and disappear by the way she was standing. The little girl hand her hands folded tightly in front of her, head ducked so her pale, heart shaped face couldn't be seen under her blonde hair. "Uh oh." Athena said with a small sympathetic smile. "I've got to go take care of my painfully shy kid sister, see if I can get her introduced to a playmate." She smiled at Eneas and Ulises. "It's been nice meeting you two." She said, with a nod of her head before she went off to take care of Raine. Dimitri felt his heart rate surge as Maria's brothers looked at him critically, he became even more nervous when the started pacing in slow circles around him, murmuring to each other in Spanish. The boy's mouth was completely dry and his heart was hammering in his ears, seemingly beating words into his mind with each thump. 'Worthless. Unclean. Defiled. Unworthy.' He swallowed stiffly, trying to force the words out of his head. Finally, after several agonizing seconds the boys seemed to reach a decision and Dimitri's shoulders sagged slightly with relief. He knew it would be a mistake to let them see just how relieved he was, after all, it may seem like he had something to hide, which wasn't a bad assumption.

Arielle Shore
Arielle was sad to see Athena walk away, but she knew that she had to take care of poor shy Raine. She hadn't said much while Maria's older brothers were inspecting Dimitri. It was like everything else seemed to freeze. She sighed in relief when the two young men approved of Dimitri before conversing with Maria in Spanish. When their mother came, she could only giggle as she shooed them off and thanked her for her compliment. "Well, if you excuse me," Arielle said after the silence had returned, "I'm going to see if your dad needs help with anything. Alright Maria?"
"Alright," Maria said with a slight nod, "But I'm sure that he's not going to let you carry anything. You can always try though." She looked over at Dimitri with an apologetic smile, "I...I'm really sorry about my brothers...I hope they... Well I hope that they didn't embarrass you or anything. They're just really weird and well..." She herself felt embarrassed about their display and wasn't sure what it made him think of her. She hoped he wouldn't lose interest in her because of her weird older brothers.
Arielle was about to head over to Maria's father when Maria's mother walked back over to them. There was no denying the fact that Maria and her mother bore an almost striking resemblance to one another, only in different tones. Her mother's hair was a bit shorter than her daughter's and looked more brown than it actually was, her face was more round, and her lips were not as full as Maria's. However, when the two of them were standing close to one another, you could barely notice any of those small differences.
"Now that I've come back," Maria's mother said with a smile as she walked over to the girls, giving Arielle a quick hug, "You two young ladies can now introduce me to everyone here. Maria did tell me that your boyfriend's sisters were here."
Arielle nodded with a smile, "Yes they are. They're all over the place actually. Athena went to take care of Raine because she's awfully shy around strangers, but she gets over it once she's used to you. However, Kedrick and I, whenever I can find Kedrick, would be happy to introduce you to his family and around the estate. As well as Mr. Vázquez, Eneas, and Ulises."
Mrs. smiled before looking over at Dimitri, "I apologize for what you had to deal with. My sons are an interesting sort, but they aren't that bad. Sometimes I think those two boys act more like twins than brothers of an age difference of four years." She laughed a gentle laugh before bringing her attention back to Dimitri. "I apologize but I didn't even get a chance to ask for your name."
"His name is Dimitri, mamá," Maria said with a shy smile, "He's Kedrick's best friend and a very good friend of both myself and Arielle."
"It's a pleasure to meet you Dimitri," Mrs. Vázquez said with a smile, "As you can tell, I'm Maria's mother. You can call me Mrs. Vázquez or Mrs. Ivelisse. Ivelisse is my first name. You've met my sons already and as for my husband... He's..."
"Right over here," came the gruff voice of Maria's father. He had a kind smile as he looked at Arielle and Maria, before looking at Dimitri. His smile didn't falter, but he didn't fail to take in his appearance.
"If you don't mind, Mr. Vázquez," Arielle said, walking over to him, I can take the food to the table for you, especially because my grandmother has a certain way of organizing the food and you know how she can be."
Mr. Vázquez smiled at Arielle and nodded. Normally he wouldn't let Arielle carry that much on her own, but he did know about her grandmother's habits from the last time they had a barbeque. He chuckled softly and let Arielle take some of the food, glancing at his wife who understood the look and took the rest.
"Follow me, Mrs. Vázquez," Arielle said as she walked away, giving her friends a good luck smile, "I'm sure we'll be able to find Kedrick now so you can meet him, and then he'll introduce us to all of his family."
Maria watched as Arielle walked away with, again feeling nervous. She could already tell that her mother liked Dimitri because she was just that kind of person. Now she had to wait and see how her father would take in Dimitri. Please like him papá, Maria thought, her fingers crossed behind her back.
Like her brothers, Mr. Vázquez had his own serious look on his face as he had his turn to look Dimitri over. There was no telling what was going through his mind and just how long he would be silent. After a few seconds, he looked at his daughter. "Maria, you mind doing your father a favor and helping out with Arielle and them. I want to talk with your young friend by myself," he asked her in Spanish.
Maria wanted to argue back, knowing that they didn't need any help, but never disobeyed her father anyway. She nodded and walked past Dimitri, her fingers lightly passing his, wishing that she could hold them and wish him luck. She didn't know that her father was aware of the small exchange, however brief it was. She whispered a good luck and kept walking, making her way towards the rest of the party.
Mr. Vázquez watched as his daughter walked away before looking back at the young pale skinned boy with dark black hair. His expression didn't change one bit knowing that this was the boy his daughter had spent a lot of time with. He had noticed him when he would drop Maria off after their outings or even before. Like any good father, he wanted to make sure that the young man would treat his daughter like the queen she was. "Do you mind walking with me to my car? I just wanted to ask you a few questions." was all he said after more intimidating silence passed, unaware of how it affected Dimitri.
