How do you determine if it was his cause of death or if there were other factors at work?
@Ironwolf: I usually burn them afterwards I suppose if you want you could bury them.

it depends on the amount of water... if there was only a little then chances are there were other factors... if the lungs were filled with water then the chances are good that drowning is the cause of death
right?

((This medical stuff is difficult to find)) Okay so there was only a small amount of water found in the lungs. There are no abrasions to indicate choking, but the cause of death was of an asphyxial nature.
