Kataio nodded and then remembered he couldn't see her. "Yeah, it was an outlet for me when I was younger. I am not that great at it but they do the trick." She moved to the window sill feeling as if she had to keep moving, and doing something. "I had a rough past and my music was one of the things that kept me myself." Kata looked out the window as she sprayed the sill then wiped it down.

Hearing her he turns to look out the door of the room, "Thats why I started reading the way I do... I wasn't aloud to do a whole lot as a child... I wasn't abused. But my parents couldn't have any children after me... so they were a little protective." He bites his lip and goes back to work... "I hope your past wasn't too horible."

*A story?* Shi felt her eyes widening slightly at the request. Unexpectedly thrust on her in the midst of the frantic flurry of thoughts. He wanted a story? The request seemed so...out of place in what they had been talking about. An innocuous request. Story? She was surprised byt the request, but really...she owed him at least that much for listening to her. Not once, but twice. She did not know anyone else who would have. Not even her guardian. But what story? What could she tell him? Most of what she knew were children's fairytales...stuff she had read while still a child. Stuff she and Chae had read... Pushing that thought out of mind, she suddenly remembered a story... *There was a time where the world was young.*She began, the words coming off easily as she slipped into remeberance. Words, cadence, song. A poem in a story, she had thought...and had immediately loved that thought. *Newness blanketed it all. The cliffs, the waves, the breeze, the light...all of it was as a newborn, fresh and innocent. The spirits blessed it all, but no more than two that walked this world. They were especially beloved because their love was the true joining of two spirits, two hearts. They saw their love, not just as man to woman...but as a complete joining of substance and thought and emotion. It was not that they breathed the air...good as it was...it was that they breathed the air that the other also took in. It was not the sun that they bathed in, rather it was the sun that warmed the other. Everything that they thought of was in reference to the other. The spirits could not help but bless such a union, and showered them with all their affection. But there were others that grew jealous of such purity and joy. They saw a perversion in what was clean. They resented the affection given the young lovers by the spirits. They saw what others had and coveted it themselves. Attempting to kidnap the young girl, indeed to defile and possibly kill her...the two young lovers managed to escape and fled. The earth was kind to them, soft grass cushioning their feet as they ran. It was hard on their pursuers, rising up to cut into their skin, ripping their feet to ribbons to where blood flowed freely in their wake. The girl called upon the earth to aid them, and it had. They ran until they reached the edge of a great stream. The young lovers ran through the water without harm, the raging floods slowing to a still trickle for them. And as the girl cried out for the spirits of water to assist, the flood returned, sweeping all before it in a merciless rampage of water and stone. Still being followed, they came to a cliff. Too high to climb...too steep to jump. Frantic and cornered, the young male lover knew that they would never be able to fully elude their persuers. Therefore he prayed to the spirit of fire to be able to carry his love to safety. To a place where no one could ever harm her. The spirit of flame blessed the young man, and touched him. He became a great bird of flame, rising on wings of pure light and fire, he lifted the woman he loved ever so gently and bore her across the canyon and to the plains beyond. But once there, they knew a different kind of problem. For she was still a creature of substance and earth...while he had become a thing of flame and air. Loving him even then, she prayed to the final spirit...the spirit of air. She prayed to be what her lover would most need. She prayed to be what could carry and uphold him. In this life and every other. So the spirit of wind blessed her and she became the wind. She would always be at her lovers side, and what held him and carried him. She would always be what he most needed. *

Aricin_Shadow Hearing her he turns to look out the door of the room, "Thats why I started reading the way I do... I wasn't aloud to do a whole lot as a child... I wasn't abused. But my parents couldn't have any children after me... so they were a little protective." He bites his lip and goes back to work... "I hope your past wasn't too horible." Kataio sighed and resisted the urge to lean her head on the freshly cleaned window, or punch her fist through it. "My life..." She thought about what she wanted to say. "My past, it's not important anymore. I have bigger things to do now. Heck I'm a mother and I didn't even have any of the fun or the pain of child birth. I still get her hating me for no reason and thinking she knows a lot more then I do." Kata dropped the bottle of cleaning solution on the ground and stopped staring out the window and looked down at it. "I don't know if I was truly an only child, but I grew up with a lot of other kids like me." She shook her head and slowly reached down to grab the bottle that was slowly spilling it's contents from the top.

"Kata..." she reminded him of the kids in the orphange he volunteered at in college.. He wanted to hug her... "I can't really reply to that... I know Zahar loves you... but she's at that age where respect comes hard... as for suffering... You were forced to grow up to fast." Shaking his head... "I know what its like to be alone in a croud." ((Errrr..... Uhmmmmm..... Aricin is dazed...))

Kataio hold the bottle up and wipes it with the rag she had been using. She shrugged a bit forgetting again that she was in a different room. "It is ok Aricin. It was a long time ago now and Zahar and I have differences. I just think she has old manerisims still hanging about and isn't used to having a parental type figure." She held the rag tight and then walked to a bed post. Kata sat on the bed beside it and wiped it clean not really trusting her legs too much.

POST FOR ARICIN
He straightens and starts out of the room, only to halt and start cleaning the molding arround the door... "No Kata. Its not, I understand you and Zahar, or at least I think I do. But you shouldn't just shrug off your past... its what made you, you. And even though you might not see it, there are strengths to be found in that.." He slides his hand through his hair forgetting that it held the clothe.. not sure if he said the right thing... he grimaces and goes back to cleaning.. He starts to say something else for stopping himself.. amending, "Even if you can't always see those strengths."

Kataio turned and looked at the door way. She then headed out so that she could see his face. Her eyes still saddened. "The only strengths I have is in my will to live and my wind." Almost to prove a point to herself she blew a gust out through out the upper level off the house pulling the dust and cobwebs out the open windows. Her hair now laying in dis-array about her face.
Kata paused for a good few moments her eyes glowing a bright silver. "As for my past I don't like to think about how my parents were never around before I was kidnapped, beaten, and experimented on because I had some minor powers. I have to take medication every day now because of it." She took a deep breath and held her head high. "My best friends all left me, and the one person I thought I could trust handed me back to the pyschos who first experimented on us. With one raised finger she blew a light wind up to part the bangs off her face.
Kataio closed her eyes tightly for a moment then looked back to Aricin. She repeated softly in a frail voice, "It is ok Aricin. It was a long time ago now and Zahar and I have differences." Adding on a new bit, "We will be friends, equals. I won't try and mother her that's not what she needs." Kata turned just as her lip started to tremble and headed back into the room she was cleaning and sat on the bed.

POST FOR ARICIN
Aricin shakes his hair back and mutters something before hauling her into a tight hug. Starting to speak his accent oddly apparent,"You know, none of that means anything to me... except that one, if I ever meet any of those people they'll be dead in a heart beet... and two, it brought you hear to Zahar and..... well we met..." starts blushing so hard he just holds her tighter so she can't see.

Kataio is suprised she hardly moves at first not sure what to say or do. "B-but you aren't a killer." She shook her head, thinking to herself don't say that you really don't know him that well. Her head had found it's way to his shoulder since he didn't seem to be letting up. "I... I mean you... I would never...I couldn't let you do that. It-it would be rather dangerous." Kataio's voice changed sounding a bit worn as her accent also slipped out. "Righ' now ah dun know wha' eet is that you wan' from me. Ah couldn ask ya, no ah wouldn wan' ya going up agains' 'hem." Kata started to fiddle with her fingers behind is back giving him a light hun. "Plus we killed mos' all of 'hem a long hime ago." Her body was trambling a bit against his. Why was she so nervous she had been hugged before. She even had told G_E this story. Oh Terwal give me strength.
[Kata can't say her 'T's and pronounces her 'I's softly if you all are wondering. She had to go through special schooling after they got out of captivity to speak right and her 'accent' comes out only when nervous. xp ]

POST FOR ARICIN
Aricin tries to calm his racing pulse... "Theres more to me than what you see... your right, I'm not capable of enjoying killing someone... but I have in the past and will again for those I care about... I won't hunt them, but if I ever get an inkling that one of them has come to Masquerade, I wouldn't blink before finishing them." He clears his throat... "Is it so hard to beleive that I don't want anything from you, in return for my affection?"

Nika waited patiently for Shiva to answer him. Perhaps asking her to tell a story wasn't the right thing to do...
...Maybe Shiva needed to dwell on the past, to come to terms with it... Well, there was no doubt that was what she needed. That's what all of them needed.
But what if Shiva wasn't supposed to relax yet? What if she didn't want to?
He was about to speak before Shiva began her story. Relieved, he closed his eyes again and listened.
It was a beautiful story and his eyes showed that he was smirking.
The flame became more powerful with the aid of wind. Wind could control fire, move it around, snuff it out.
It was the same in every relationship.
'Thank you, Shiva.' he opened his eys and they crinkled into a big, goofy grin.

Kata tests her voice and makes she to keep her accent in check, "Aricin... What do you mean?" She fumbled for the right words as she tried to make her question more clear. "I d-don't think that you have to worry about them coming to Masqurade. It honors me that you think so much of me." Her tongue felt dry and swollwen as she spoke, but Kata continued and nodded slightly almost nuzzling his shoulder. "It is hard to beilve that you do not want anything from me. I grew up in a world where everything had a price." Kataio took a sharp breath. "I was a bounty hunter for awhile, and heck I probably still have a price on me for many reasons." Was she trying to shock him into leaving like she did with all the rest of the decent guys?

Aricin lifts a hand from the small of her back to slide it through his hair again... a strange nervous habit he had developed since cutting off his pony tail... "Its not important, all I mean is that if you ever get put in that sort of circumstance again... Hell fire.... I don't think that friendship of any kind should have a price on it. And I'm offering you mine without a price, if you need me. I'm here. End of story."Trivii leans on the stair rail, silently debating an interuption.. "That is why my dear beloved older brother is so wonderful.... His ability to be a Knight in Slightly Tarnished Armour... I hate to interupt, but I need bucket.. and wanted to know if you need anything from our place?"

His amusement was contagious and her own eyes turned up in a crinkled grin. *Too bad we aren't children anymore...I might have challenged you to a race. You look too comfortable as you are though.*
Her tone grew speculative. *Nika, you had asked me if I remembered much aday ago...and I gave you an off-the-cuff answer. But ... well, how much do YOU recall?*
