Derrik held onto Nathan and slowly drifted toward sleep, convinced that Nathan had not heard him. Then he heard Nathan's reply and was startled back to wakefulness. Nathan had been awake? Or probably drifting between wakefulness and sleep. Either way, did it really matter? Nathan would be happy to hear those words, so why did they make Derrik so nervous? Derrik shoved those thoughts to the back of his mind; it was time for sleep. Finally he drifted into dreams far less vivid and tangible than Nathan's. It was always this way for Derrik; dreams so vague and incoherent that he would almost immediately forget them upon waking.

Mason finally hung up the phone of the last professor in her address list. She sighed and looked up at Colleen enjoying her pear and smiled, but she was a bit flustered. "I have to call the family now. If they hear about me on the news or something, they'll be really mad." She squinted her eyes and looked randomly at the bedsheet. "They are going to freak out. Especially Mom. She always goes nuts when the slightest thing is wrong, bt being hospitalized for a night? She'll have a field day." She sighed again and slowly typed in the number of her father's cell. "Maybe my dad can deal with my mom's reactions for me." She said, laughing at herself. She knew, almost for a fact, that after a minute or so of talking to him, the phone would be transfered to her mother, and she would have to explain, then possibly have a doctor consent to her condition. The phone was ringing and she placed it against her ear.
"Case? Hon, I have to get on stage for a rehearsal, could you talk to your mother?" Mason only had a chance to say "But Dad!" before her mother's worried voice was on.
"Casey, what's the matter, are you okay? Why are you calling?" "Mom, why is it you always assume the worst." She gulped. "Well, actually, I fell at the pool earlier today, and I sort of got knocked unconcious, but I'm fine-" "Oh, my god, I'll be on the next plane out there." "Mom, no! I'm fine! I'm an adult now, I can handle myself. I'll stay at the hospital tonight and be home in the morning." It took a little more coaxing, but Mason's mom finally decided against flying out to Washington. They discussed for a few minutes, then Mason had to convince her mother that it wasn't necessary to speak to her doctor. She agreed to call her in the morning when she got home, then they said their goodbyes. Mason hung up the phone and collapsed on the bed, seemingly exhausted from her conversation. [[edit]] Mason looked up at Colleen. "This can't be fun for you. You should go get some sleep. I'll take a cab home tomorrow."

Nathan stirred a bit and woke seconds later. He was starring at a tanned chest that was pressed close to his face. Nathan reached out with his lips and kissed the smooth, thin-haired skin. He looked up to see the angelic face of the man that owned the muscular body that was every so lightly, but firmly, wrapped around him. Derrik was sleeping softly. A quiet, almost silent, snore escaped him. He was truely the essence of beauty. Nathan turned over in the dark room to check his clock; he was almost sure that it was still the middle of the night. It read 8:03. Nathan's eyes grew wide and his breath quickened. "Derrik! We're late! We are late! We need to get going!" He jumped out of his bed and the arms of the one he hold dearest to his heart and began dressing. "C'mon, baby. We need to get up! We're way off schedual!" Derrik didn't seem to even move. "Derrik? Baby? Wake up." Nathan shook him and Derrik rolled over by the force. Nathan jumped back and screamed loudly. Derrik's eyes were open, cloudy, and glazed over. He was dead. Blood started to pool out of his chest. An open wound was the source of the blood. Nathan backed up, sobbing heavily. As soon as he hit the wall, he slid down to the ground. His hand was covered in blood. "What's going on?..." He asked himself. A knife appeared in the other hand and blood spilled down the clean silver. Nathan's breath caught and he dropped the knife. He had killed Derrik. He began screaming, louder and louder with each scream.
Nathan shot up in bed, screaming as loud as he had been in his sleep. A pool of sweat enveloped him and drenched everything. He continued to scream, still afraid that it wasn't just a nightmare, but the future itself.
{{{Just so yall know, Nate's not having preminitions, its just a message his subconscious is sending him to help him deal with certain problems he doesn't even know he has. I'm still working on the plot for this one.}}}

Derrik woke suddenly to the sound of screaming, his head still muddled with dreams he was already forgetting. There was his usual moment of disorientation, where he could not quite remember where he was, but it was cut short as his blurry eyed vision landed on Nathan and answered everything. Derrik sat up and pulled Nathan against him, kissed the top of his head and stroked his hair. He rocked slightly like one would when comforting a small child. "You're alright, Nathan. You had a nightmare; everything is all right." Derrik willed his body to calm down from its adrenaline rush; waking up to terrified screams had him strung tighter than a guitar string. "Calm down, Nathan. Tell me what it was about, alright?" Whenever Derrik had bad dreams as a child, few and far between, he would crawl into bed with his parents and they would ask him about them. By the time he'd finished telling the tale, it usually was a bit less terrifying.

Nathan stopped screaming and started crying when Derrik started to calm him. His sobs started to drift away and tears were all that was left. He looked up to Derrik. "It was terrible." He sniffled and had several shuddered breaths as he spoke. "I woke up and saw the clock and it was 8:03 AM. So I was paniced and I tried to wake you up, but when I rolled you over, you were dead. You had a stab wound in your chest." Nathan began becoming upset, but Derrik quickly calmed him. He took a deep breath. "There was blood on my hand and a bloody knife in the other. I was so scared, Derrik! I was so scared..." He clung to his lover and began sobbing quietly. What scared him wasn't the dream, per say. It was the fact that he's had dreams like this before, about himself killing those he loved or loved ones killing eachother and then himself. Why were his dreams so morbid? Why was it his family? Why was it his friends? Why? Nathan didn't know. It all started with his mother killing his father, his sisters, and then himself in the very first dream. That's were Nathan needed to start at. With his mother.

Derrik was startled by the nature of Nathan's dream. It almost mirrored his own fears of making himself so vulnerable to Nathan. But he shook off that fear and concentrated on comforting Nathan. He was still crying and upset. Derrik took Nathan's hand and placed it over his heart. "Do you feel that? I am far from dead. And you could never kill me; I know that. So don't cry." Derrik lightly pressed kisses to Nathan's wet cheeks. What could have prompted a dream like that? Derrik didn't think it could mean anything; even taken metaphorically it made no sense to him. Not unless Nathan was afraid of hurting him... that did make a little sense. Nathan had been afraid more than once that he might give his disease to Derrik. But if that had nothing to do with this current crisis, Derrik sure as hell wasn't going to make things worse by mentioning it; not directly. "It sounds like something is really bothering you, though. If you need to talk about something, then let's talk. It doesn't matter what it is; anything that's bothering you at all." Maybe Derrik was blowing the whole thing out of proportion and it was just pre-wedding jitters. Or maybe it was something deeper that he had not begun to guess. He was feeling drained now that the adrenaline had seeped out of his system, but he did not feel like sleeping. He was too worried about Nathan.

Nathan finally calmed down and just sniffled. His breath was uneven. "I don't know what it means. Nothing's bothering me; well, seeing my mom is and how'll she'll treat you is, but not enough to make me dream about killing you. I don't understand." Nathan sighed. "It doesn't matter anymore. It was just a nightmare." Nathan turned and looked at his clock. It was 4:57 AM. "We've got a couple of hours of sleep left and I'm tired. Let's just go back to sleep." Nathan layed down and pull the comforter over his shoulder. He slowed his breath and closed his eyes to make Derrik think he was asleep. Nathan wanted to avoid this conversation at all cost now. It made him uncomfortable, especially when he was talking to Derrik. He just wanted him to wrap his arms around him and fall asleep along side him.

((Bugger. Grounded bites.))
Derrik watched Nathan for a while quietly. He stroked Nathan's hair and rubbed his back, still looking concerned. But he was still quite tired and Nathan appeared to be asleep, so he finally settled down and closed his eyes, an arm around Nathan's middle. He was not really worried about meeting Nathan's mother. While Nathan was important to him, his mother was without consequence to Derrik. He tended to think that way of most people, even some whom he was fairly civil to. The only difficulty in his mind was continuing to play nice if the woman decided to try his patience. Patience was something Derrik had little of and after tonight's interrupted sleep his temper was bound to be short. Well, he was an actor, wasn't he? If he could not act nonchalant at a moment's notice, then he wasn't worth his salt. Derrik kissed the back of Nathan's neck and drifted off to sleep again.

Nathan felt Derrik's kiss and nearly melted. He was still not asleep when Derrik finally started his almost-silent snore. Nathan turned over and pressed his body to Derrik's and rested his head on his chest once again. He was deffinantly nervous about tomorrow. His mother pretty much dissapproved of everything Nathan did since he was "infected" and "outed." She didn't like his life-style choice to begin with, and she deffinantly didn't like the fact that he had a disease like this because he was stupid enough to have sex without using a condom. But, now Nathan played it safe. He had many chance's of boyfriends since his ex broke up with him, but he was too scare that he might hurt them, so he sheltered himself away. That's what he wanted to do with Derrik, but the Good ol' Grace charm kicked in and Nathan was pulled into a relationship with Derrik. Not that he didn't like it, he would pick Derrik over any of the others in a heart beat. Derrik was always a good friend of his, he had known him all this life. So, his wall was naturally softened by his knowledge and trust in Derrik. But, when Derrik first kissed him in the pool house, the barrier broke, shattered, into a million pieces and Nathan was vulnerable. And Derrik came to his rescue. Well, after Annora had came to his rescue before, but that's beside the point.
Nathan thought back to the moment before he told his mother. He was sitting in his room with is sister, Nia. She was the first person in his family to know he was gay, let alone know he was "infected." He was laying in his bed and she was sitting in his desk chair with her knees propped up in the seat and her cell phone clutched in her hand. She had started the conversation. "So, what are you gonna tell Mom? She's gonna have to know sooner or later." "I know, Nia. I just don't know how to, ya' know? It's hard. You don't know what it's like." Nathan sat up and sighed. He rubbed the back of his head. "I'm so scared, Nia. I have AIDS. I mean, it's fine when you hear it. When the doctor tells you, ya know? Like, it's just a dream. Not a reality. Then, you say it out loud. And it becomes reality. It becomes truth that you can't hide from. It's scary." "I know, Nathan, I know. Everything's gonna be fine. Did you tell Blain yet?" Blain was his ex. He was the "infector." Nathan just shook his head. "I don't know how to. I mean, how do you tell someone that. 'Hey, I was a virgin before you and now I have AIDS. I think you better get checked.'" Nathan huffed. "Well, it's a start if you ask me." She smiled, jokingly. Nathan couldn't help but smile back. He stood up and took several deep breaths. "I'm gonna do it." "No time but the present." A hint of know-it-all was somewhere in her voice. Nathan looked down at her annoyed. "Seriously, Nia." "Sorry, just trying to be supportive." Nathan walked to his door and openned it slowly. He looked out and down the hall. His mother was sitting at the kitchen table, balancing her check book. "I can't do it, Nia. I can't do it." Nia raised an eyebrow and cornered Nathan between the half open door and herself. "Don't worry. Once the water works start to flow, I'll be right behind you. Knock 'um dead!" Nia said in her happy go lucky tone. Then, Nathan walked into the dining room. He sat down next to his mother and explained everything. She was furious and sad all at the same time; more sad than furious. Nia held her promise and came into the little gathering as soon as his mother started crying. The next day, Nessa and Natali were told as well as his mother's boyfriend. He was the most supportive. Then, his mother became more and more distant, until Nathan began to loath the very thought of being in the same house as her. Now he had to go back home, to the place from which he escaped. But, it was okay. He wasn't alone this time. nathan wrapped his arms around Derrik's waist and kissed his chest softly before falling asleep. This time, no dreams came to him. Atleast, none that he could remember.

Colleen watched Mason speak to her mother with a sympathetic expression, though laced through with amusement. Once she hung up, she couldn't keep herself from laughing softly, try as she might. Once her laughing fit died down, she shook her head and looked away. "I'll just sleep here. Don't wanna leave you all alone here, y'know?" Making it clear that regardless of was Mason said, she wans't going to leave, she turned to fix her gaze on Mason with a smile and speak again. "Besides, I don't feel like riding back home anyway. Too lazy."
[[SO SORRY. D: Hurricane Ike just pummeled us. We've been without power since Saturday and I've been at my dads house. There's power at my house but I currently have no way to get there. So I might not be on again for another few days, even a week. I'm at a Starbucks right now.]]

[[Oh no! Stay safe! It's totally understandable that you won't be on. gonk ]] Mason rolled her eyes but then gave Colleen an appreciative smile. On the inside, she really didn't want to be alone, but she didn't want her friends to feel obligated. Since it seemed Colleen was having no more of this discussion, Mason stood, patted the other bed in her room, and yawned. "I'm gonna hit the sack, then. I want to get home as soon as they'll let me." She scratched her head for a second. "I wonder when that is?" She pressed the nurse call button, and when their old friend Shirley came in, she asked her question, and Shirley said she could leave at 9:00. "Great, thanks." Mason said as she climbed into bed. She was soon off to sleep.
