Edith saw his eyes watering but she listened to him speak, forcing herself to not interrupt him, sitting on the floor, holding Kyley, his hand, as he spoke. "Way to go Tokeru," she said with a chuckle, "now you've gone and made me feel bad." Immediately she turned serious again and said, "We'll help those kids. We'll find him and we'll chop his head off. There's no need to think about what he might do, just don't give him a chance to do it. As for him aging me, he'd be a dumbshit if he tried that, I'm a vampire now. Vampires are immortal."

Tokeru shook his head. "I can't help it, I can't help but dwell on the possibilities. That's how i've lived my entire life, by figuring out the odds, and preparing for the worst possible scenario, and right now, the worst possible scenario is that someone will take you away from me. I know I have no right to say that, but I'm worrying. About you, about Hope and Savage, about eveyone. Mauser was nothing compared to him, and yet no one has realized it. How much blood will be shed before they do."
Tokeru looked down at the child. "How many children, how many."

Edith could not deny that she felt touched by his concern for her and yet it sparked something in her, yep it was her inner feminist. Was he saying that she was weak, that Draegan would kill her because she was weak? Sure, she did not stand a chance in hell against the guy but that did not mean that she was weak. At least she had somehow survived her first encounter with him, surprisingly, being a smart a** had paid off for once in her life. Heh, who would have known.
"You," she said, letting go of Kyley and taking his hand into both of hers, "don't have to worry about me. I'll be fine. I'm a kick-a** vampiress that can't control her powers yet, what's there to worry about?" She smiled softly, not knowing how to cheer him up. "Children will die, possibly parents that defend them. But some day we will avenge those children. The most he kills, the further he damns himself."
She knew, from experience that the good guys did not always win. In fact, if anything, the good guys probably lost more than they won things. However, it was comforting to dwell upon that timeless saying. Good shall always prevail over evil. "You will stop him." she stated randomly out of no where. "You will stop Draegan. You are a decent person, you are kick-a**. There's no way that you'll lose to him. Sure you may need to get your a** kicked a few times, but all you need to do is survive and learn from it."

Tokeru shook his head once again. Time to come clean
"Edith, my little temptress. I'm not sure how much longer I have to defeat him. My body has started rejecting the nano-bots that keep my heart going. They are dying at an increasing rate. I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to live without a constant injection, and unless we find a permanent solution to the problem, Draegan will have won. I may be the only person that could defeat him, but what good will i be if I can't even move out of the hospital bed. The ironic part is, Draegan probably even has a cure for what I have, and yet in taking it, I will further damn myself. I will be using the medicine that he created through the countless slaughter of thousands, to save my own life. I can't even have a heart transplant, because my own body will instantly reject it. I am damned, or I am dead. Neither option is very attractive to me. Neither choice I relish taking, and yet, I will be forced to choose sooner or later, and I fear I will choose the wrong one. Would the world be better off without me? or would my loved ones prefer that I live, be it as a slave to Draegan, dependant on him for my continuing survival? I fear I will choose the latter, doing his dirty work for my selfish life."
Tokeru looked at savage, and absently starting stroking the great cat's head. I'm afraid that I'll be the one forced to kill you, that i'll succumb to my selfish want of survival, and become the very thing I hate.

Bridget got tired of watching movies...besides it was getting late and she had to get ready for tonite. She went to the armory and got extra clips for her Glocs 9r mm and eight UV grenades. She put the extra clips away along with the grenades in pockets sown inside the 'Duster'. Bridget then put on her stetson hat and took the elevator to house and left going thru the front door and turned left.

Edith really did not know what to say, she had no ideas or suggestions. It had never occured to her that Tokeru was dying. She would not have known at all had he not told her. It was a damned wise decision that he had, otherwise she would be even more distraught than she was now. "I-I..." she said, somewhat in shock but more speechless, not knowing what to say. "I'm sorry! I didn't know." She felt the hot tears dance down her cheeks and made to wipe them away with the back of her hand before they dribbled onto her dress.

Tokeru immediatly regretted telling her anything. He could not look at her, just kept petting Savage.
"I've always lived with the fact that i was going to die before my time, ever since I was changed, i've known that the nano-bots would not be able to sustain me. 10 years ago, I only needed an injection every 3 months, and now it's gone down to just under a month. At this rate, I will only have 3 years left, plenty of time for most people to find a cure, but not enough time for me to find Draegan. Unless I find him soon, I may never be able to find him again. And if I can't force him to give me the cure, then i will be just as happy dying knowing that I avenged my family."
Tokeru let go of savage, and held Edith's hands. He smiled sadly at her. "But know that even if I do fail, you will have made the last few years of my life better. Before I met you, I had only one desire, to kill Draegan. I had no feelings, no empathy, just anger."
He stood up and hugged her, "I never wanted to tell anyone. I wanted to fade away quietly if I failed. But I have a sister now, and I have you here with me. I even have an overgrown stuffed cat that is at this moment trying to sit on my foot. How can I fade when all of you will notice I am gone?"
He let go of her and smiled. "I'm sorry, i never meant to make you cry. Don't worry, I will find him, even if it's the last thing I do."
Which may be entirely possible

Edith's tears continued to burn her cheeks, they were still the crimson red as the blood she drank was the only real liquid within her body now. She did not wish for Kyley to see her tears and become frightened, under the impression that she was bleeding somehow. That was why she wiped them away so swiftly, why she did not dare to look at the child at this particular moment, and why she forced herself to stop crying for both Tokeru's and Kyley's sakes. "You never," she said rising from the ground, hand still squeezing his own, "would have just faded away. People would have noticed. You're too kick-a** to die unnoticed."

Tokeru chuckled slightly. "I'm afraid, that you are the only one that shares that opinion with me. Even my superiors would not even know I exist, were it not for the countless hundreds of immortal kills I report every month, or the dozens of vampires and lycan prisoners sent to them."
He then kissed Edith lightly on the lips, and became acutely aware that there was a child in the room.
"Savage, why don't you let Kyley ride on your back for awhile, i want to talk to Edith in private. That ok with you Kyley?"
Tokeru pulled a sucker out of his pocket. (for some reason Tokeru always has suckers there) He then handed it to her, kneeling down to her height just to pass her the candy.

"Send Simon on jobs and ignore him when he comes back." Simon sighed as the bandwagon walked off. Past him even. Simon made his way to his room and put on his hunting clothes. From his level three kevlar vest, to his overcoat. Getting strapped with his sawn-off shotgun and Beretta 93R (plus ammunition), Simon walked out the room, applying his bandanna to his face bandit style.
He would then proceed to go outside and leave to hunt or get hurt. They'd probably listen to him more if he had a bullet in his knee-cap. God, that hurts.

Edith was a slight bit unsure about why Tokeru wanted to be alone with her. Was it because of something bad? Was he going to tell her something that he thought was grotesque and should not reach the child's ears? Did he simply wish her out of the room? When he pulled out a random lolly pop from his pocket, Edith could not help but chuckle. "We like," she said with a snort, "our snacks on the side there, eh?"
When Kyley was told to ride the tiger, she took one look at the gigantic furry beast and cringed. She was afraid of him, tigers were supposed to be in zoos, not where people were. Tigers ate people, that's what everyone said. "Auntie," Kyley said, beginning to tear up, "I don't like the tiger. I don't want to ride him. I want to go home. Take me home."
She had anything but experience for being a mother, however, she tried her hardest to be sympathetic of the child. "Sweetie," Edith said, stroking the child's hair, "the tiger is fine. He is good, your friend. The tiger won't hurt you, I promise. Would you feel better if Midnight came for a ride with you, sweetie?"
Kyley nodded, if someone else came for a ride with her, she would feel much more safe. "Uh-huh," she said as she nodded, "I like Midnight." She then looked over to Tokeru, her expression somewhat perplexed. "Why," she asked Edith though she continued to stare at Tokeru, "is that man still dressed up? Isn't Halloween over Auntie?"

Despite himself, Tokeru could not help but laugh.
"Kyley, I'm afraid I had a little accident with the glue, Im gonna have to stay in my costume for a few days, maybe even weeks. The glue company said they'd send over some solvent, but they havn't yet so I have to wait."
Tokeru told Savage to lie down so she could sit on him. "Don't worry Kyley, he's not gonna bite, although he might lick you, but don't worry, it's just like midnight's tongue, cept bigger."

Kyley giggled at Tokeru's story and examined his wings more closely. "Next year," she said with a big grin, "I'm gonna be an angel like you, Mister." She was then picked up by Edith and placed ontop of the tiger. Moments later, Midnight was resting within Kyley's lap, too lazy to escape from the death trap at the moment.
"There," Edith said with a smile to Kyley, "you're all set. Tokeru and I won't be very long so you don't have to worry. And yes, the tiger won't hurt you. He's very friendly. If he hurts you he'll get in trouble, okay?" She then got Savage to get up and walk out the door, making sure Kyley was balanced and not about to fall off of the tiger.
Once finished dealing with Kyley, Edith returned to Tokeru, looking at him, wondering what it was he wanted to tell her. "So," she said, leaning against the side of an infirmary bed, clutching the frame as she did so, "what are you wanting to talk about, Angel?"

Tokeru smiled, and put all of his previous thoughts out of his mind. He got closer to Edith, and pulled her against him, giving her a deep kiss. After a few moments, he pulled back and whispered. "Nothing, I just didn't think it was appropriate for a child to see this, or a tiger for that matter. Between chasing Draegan, fighting my own clones, almost getting killed, being slammed around walls by Krii and finding a artificially aged child, we really havn't had any alone time. And I have to say, You look absolutly stunning in that dress. I mean Grr."
Tokeru did a slow walk around her, and sat down on a chair, pulling her down after his so he could massage her shoulders. "And by the feel of these knots, you have had a long day too."

When Tokeru kissed her so deeply, Edith had not been expecting it and almost pushed him away. However, instead of pushing him away, she had wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss herself. Tokeru had been right, they had not had a whole lot of alone time together, but their jobs did not exactly allow them a whole lot of off-time or breaks.
Edith was glad that despite the fact that he was a killer, Tokeru was aware of others and was pretty good at deciding what was and wasn't appropriate for others to see. "I'm glad," she said with a smile, "that you care about Kyley enough to send her out of here. I like people who know how to treat a kid. You talk bullshit when you say you're heartless. You care about lots of things."
When he complimented her on her dress, she blushed. Quite frankly, she had forgotten she had been wearing it as it was a very maneuverable dress that allowed her to do the splits if she had been able to. "Thanks, Angel." She said with a discreet smile. She then pecked him on the cheek to express her thanks furthermore.
Next he had done a complete three-sixty around her to inspect her. It made her feel like her skin was crawling, knowing his eyes were on her body, looking it up and down. As she was sat down and massaged, she hissed in her pleasure. Yes, she had had a busy day, but this just made her forget all about it. "Sure," she said, closing her eyes with a smirk, "you could say that."
