Yeah, I'd feel alot more comfortable if the ship selection was discussed in the open and not debated about in PMs. Plus it diminishes any sense of impropriety on the part of the mods and gm.

And immediate or setting sense of a home in the ship. Something that upon looking at it gives you a feeling of security. Thats the feelings, but its weighed down by things like amount of people mainly, else we'd just go with the Barloz.
As it is, we're building a ship, something that would take a great deal more amount of time in public than in private because of the different mind sets and some's obsession with petty calculations. Mainly, Cales building it as he seems to be more comfortable doing.
Right now we are looking at the idea of a larger sized vessel(over 100 meters) that will house the crew as well as a decent load of cargo, which I thought about 10 kilotons would do. Without too being cooped up. I'm also hoping we can figure something out that can house at least one or two small starfighters or a shuttle.
If theres anything people might want to add to this or debate about, go ahead, but please do it in an efficient manner as to speed the process.
Stellar, I dont really know why your so set on having word on a ship your not even going to be on. My choice with your character may seem unfair, but it just wouldn't do having you down our necks at every second, it ruins the elegance of the storyplay. Your a side character and a side plot, and your not the only ones who'll be after us for some reason. Please understand, this RP is not like the others we've had in this guild, each episode has different plots and back-stories. And as GM, I wont be putting stress on the exact actions of the characters, but theres a general direction I'd like them to go down and if one changes, then it adds to the fun and it keeps me on my toes. Ones actions could can influence other plots and events to unfold, perhaps after your hassling us, our hyperdrive breaks down, and were left stranded on the edge of Wild Space on some dead rock trying to fix it. But if you want to be more involved, make a character for the crew.

Des, the design of the ship shouldn't matter if you're trying for homliness. You don't need recreation decks and living quarters to make that feeling of security or family.
Afterall, a submarine is cramped, small, hard to move in, smelly, and designed with no sense of luxury, but that doesn't mean the crew doesn't feel like a family. Its the social interaction between characters which will push for the feel you're wanting, not the ship's design.

I realize this, but I'm a material fellow as well as spiritual in some sense. Its nice to have the comfort of a sturdy, spacious design.

@ Cale: does this mean your compy's fixed?
@ Des: That's beside the point. Your defense for a ship to be 'homely' and all those connotative words has nothing to do with the ship itself. You are mixing up your subjectivity with a denotative definition of what is required. Honestly, since your character is just going to be hired, I'd say let it be rather spartan at the beginning. If Cale is a mando, it won't be fluffy and pretty. Then, as time progresses, let the ship evolve into something else. If your character wants to spiff up the ship for his personal enjoyment, let him do it physically.

Its more akin to the Shchuka-B submarine than a dreadnaught. Its designed to lurk the spacelanes and strike at convoys using her two big guns and four assault concussion missles. Naturally we wont have these armaments as it is now reduced to a cargo ship. He're a close up shot of the foredeck with a man for scale

Des Voh Sickle and Hammer smack dab on the side of her could've given that feeling. It probably already has one. @ Cale: If we start arming ourselves, I don't think skuld can really handle all the guns without blowing her cover...

I'll have Stellar help me with the dimensions, then I'll try and sketch a rough map of her insides. The name Ruusan stays though.
