"Everyone quick to judge. But I suppose my actions speak for themselves. Equally so, i've no care for one who'd act as though they were born in the sun. Besides, she's a 'big girl'. I doubt she needs someone making threats in her stead."
Gen's eyes meet with Romanov's. The page resists being bent down, as though it wished not to be bent.
"As for my book, i'm not reading of magic. I am altering the application of it. Not as though you'd know much, if you'd place little value on careful study."
Returning to his book, Gen mearly sighs again.
"I've more than a basic understanding for our society, but as long as it's only petty squabble, and nothing serious enough to offend Lolth, I see nothing wrong with my actions. Be there one who is of loyalty's worth, you'll see a different side of me."

The hell does he mean with "born in the sun"? I was born on this planet. If I were born in the sun, I'd have burned up at once.

It's a figure of speech, Yam. He meant that we or they think of themselves so highly. Like how the sun is the center of the galaxy!
And seriously, you guys, I don't need a whole.. Mini fight just because he doesn't like how I act. >> It's understandable.

"Apparently being an assassin doesn't do much for your intelligence. What I mean is 'sunny', cheerful, immature, etc. Or do you need pictures to figure this out?"
Gen lightly laughed to himself.
"There is no fighting here to my knowledge. I'd not waste my time with such a 'special' assassin."

I'm no assassin! But, the figure of speech you presented could have been taken either way. At least, to me anyways. Yam just plain out didn't understand it.

"I did not intend you, miss. I meant the barbarian over there you call 'Yam'. Would it kill him to understand simple words or comparisons? Or are his blades the only things he can 'grasp'?"

Ooh, well, I'm not sure. He never seems to get some things figures of speech or anything right away. He can grasp some things, I think, but English isn't a strong point. Uhm, sorry Yam! >>;

Meh, unlike the nerdy kid there, I'm not afraid to admit that there is things I don't know. I'm Norwegian, I don't expect to have perfect English. As for the barbarian comment, I'll take that as a compliment. Because barbarians still got more tact and honour than most of you puny little mages.

Mages are kinda cool though, with their magic and whatnot. >> Though, I am kinda biased on the magic.

Some mages are awesome, yes. But most are not even close to what demons can do. They need to make contracts with demons to gain powers, and then act as if it is a great feat they have done by doing so. Whoopdido, you just gave away something precious. Way to go! It sure took a lot of skill to do that!

"Not all mages need demon-pacts to become powerful. Just the one's who've reached their limits. For many, there is far greater power to be earned. As for tact and honor, is there a point to those things? Honour makes many a being kill their self, whether on purpose or by accident, or become blindly loyal. Congratulations, a sold life thru personal choice...I can't believe i'm arguing such things..."
Gen closes his book, and stands up.
"Look, our ways of life are much to different to understand eachother, let alone get along easily. How about we end this 'conversation'. It's not making my work any easier, and i'm sure your brain is hurting by now, assassin."

No, not that I can feel at the moment. If I did have a headache I'd just take aspirin, and keep on talking. And you should stop looking down on assassins intelligence. We need quite a lot of it for avoiding traps, enemies, getting past locks and so on, most likely just as much as you mages need to crack magical codes and runes and so on. We just use it a different way.
