A light blub (proverbial of course) clicked over Feng's head. She stared at him and then at Aliya and then back at Amdir. A smile slowly spread across her face as she grinned showing off her pearly whites. Ryu had the sense of edging away from his sister, because what he already guessed, it looked like it hit Feng full on.

"Nonsense!" Feng replied grabbing Amdir by the arm and firmly placing him between herself and Aliya, "No one should feel left out just because of company."

Amdir squawked and his eyes grew round with surprise. "Uhm ... really ... it's okay!" he insisted, struggling to release his arm from Feng's grip.

Aliya, however, was not going to let him get away so easily. She grabbed his other arm and linked hers with his. "We'll all go together," she giggled. "Come on, we don't bite!"

"Ryu come over here!" Feng used her free arms to wave her brother over.

Ryu figuredc he might as well play along, after all he did have to share a river with her. Even though Feng wasn't as mischivious as she was as child, one never knew with her. He pattered over letting her link her free arm with his, so that he and Aliya were at the ends, Feng was in the middle keeping Amdir in the middle as well.

"See? Now we all go back," Feng grinned.

Amdir was completely and utterly humiliated. Of all the nights, why had he had to pick tonight to follow Arthael's advice?

"Aw, come on," Aliya said in a coaxing tone, "don't be so annoyed. You wanted to walk me home, so you're walking all of us home!"

She couldn't help but wonder if he had something against their guests, though, because as far as she could tell (and in this she was actually correct for once) once he found out that they were coming with her, he didn't want to walk her home anymore.

Feng wondered if she should have pointed out to Aliya that she was pretty sure Amdir wanted Aliya all for himself at the current moment. Feng giggled a bit, she had a feeling though Aliya didn't know.

"Besides...." Feng murmured, "It's nice to spend time with other people, like Aliya-chan!"

Amdir blinked. "Aliya ... chan?" he repeated in confusing, so startled that he unwittingly allowed himself to be led forward by the three of them.

Aliya was equally confused. "What's that mean?" she asked curiously, though sounding much more adventurous than Amdir, who had sounded more cautious than anything.

"It's a nickname of sorts," Ryu explained, "It's often for girls and young boys. Rough translation is cute, though I would take that with a grain of salt."

Feng nodded at that happily, since she thought it was cute.

Cute ... Amdir wondered if he should tuck that bit of information away somewhere, the thought itself had crossed his mind often enough.

Still, he blushed even more deeply.

Aliya thought it was the best thing ever. "I've never heard of that before!" she giggled. "The only thing we have around here that we call people is Lord or Lady or Prince or Princess, or whatever army rank they have, it's kind of boring."

"Oh well there's a lot like that," Feng grinned, "Cause.... you see in the language it came from, the people thought it was really really impolite to just call someone by their first name, cause that's like... only for family and people really close to you, like.. .a childhood friend."

She paused for a moment.

"Or your boyfriend."

Ryu rolled his eyes at Feng, because she so sucked at being subtle, but he picked up where his sister left off, "Because of that, everyone has a family name, like the way the Aldriches do. If it's a compete stranger, you say their last name and put 'san' at the end of their name. If you know them better than you could put it at the end of their first name. If you know them quite well but find 'san' as too formal, then at times 'chan' or 'kun' is added instead. Then we have 'sensei' for anyone in a profession, often... teachers, doctors and so forth. There's also 'sama' for people who you very much respect, also used often for royalty. There are quite a few others but I don't recall them off the top of my head, or I do, but I only know the females but not the males."

"That's a complicated language," Aliya couldn't help but comment, completely missing Feng's comment about a boyfriend. "But it sounds like fun!"

Amdir on the other hand caught it quite clearly, and he looked as if he was torn between panicking or killing Feng ... though he seemed to be leaning more towards panicking.

"Well... I suppose in a way it is," Ryu murmured, "But any language can seem complicated when you first start out."

All the while he was trying to ignore the fact that Aliya didn't get that Feng was implying. Honestly his sister was not that subtle... well she was... as subtle as an elephant walking through a city.

"Aliya...." Feng murmured, "Amdir doesn't look that well..."
PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:01 pm

Aliya glanced at Amdir and noted with alarm that Feng was right - he didn't look well at all. In fact, he looked perfectly awful!

"Oh, merde!" she cursed, stopping and putting her hands on his shoulders to balance him. "Amdir, are you okay? What's wrong?"

Amdir shook his head dazedly. "I'm fine," he mumbled, "really ... I think I should go back to my quarters though ..."

"Hmm.... if that's the case," Ryu murmured.

He was about to finish his train of thought when Feng slapped her hand over his mouth.

"But we're almost to the river, you can't walk back on your own!" she told him quite oh so seriously.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:23 pm

Amdir blinked at Feng. The heck?

"Why not?" he asked curiously, slightly more calm now that he wasn't feeling as pressured. "I was going to anyways ..."

Aliya was even more confused than he was, especially by Feng's actions.

Ryu rolled his eyes again and yanked his sister's hand off of his mouth. Well if you can't beat them.. join them, besides Feng would be wailing if he let this chance go by.

"Because you're not well!" Feng told Amdir, "You don't look well what if you collapsed while going back?"
