Kimiko took but a moments respite. Breathing in deeply not to catch her breath, but rather to focus her adrenaline. Controlling the adrenaline rush was important to a Taijutsu user, if you let yourself get to caught up in it, you'd become nothing more than a raging beserker, and such a mentality didn't fit a Champion of justice, she had to keep a cool head...or as cool as she could, so as to maintain control of her blazing soul, as she'd mentioned to herself before, losing control of her passion was not a vaible option.

Xenon watched the memory with a pondering expression, as though he didn't quite know what to make of it. The scene before him just kept replaying, over and over again, like an old family video... he pushed up his glasses...his astral bodies glasses rather....or whatever he was right now. He turned his head slightly, he could feel his next memory just beyond this one...feel it waiting for his call. Yes... he was certain now. This had to be some form of his Kekke Genkai manifesting itself. He was in some sort of dream, a meditative dream composed of his memories. He shirted his weight slightly, returning his gaze to his mothers happy face. He could, it seems, pass through his memories... but for some reason he knew that he couldn't pick and choose which ones he went through, couldn't decide which memories he visited...no...for some reason he'd have to let them unfold forth from this one... one memory at a time...

Xenon pulled himself out of the dream, pulled himself out of the rhythm, and finally he opened his eyes, his real eyes. He sat up straight, in the same clearing, hours had past as he'd sat there, ans the sun was going down. He knew now what he had to do. To master the Illusion breaking jutsu, to earn the key to gain that weapon in his arsenal, he'd have to return to the moment that for him shattered all illusion... to the night his parents died, the night that he saw clearly for the first time... the memories...he could take them. He was a greater man now, he was above his past. Whatever small vestiges clung to him could be shaken off... he'd wade his way through those memories...and he would come out the other side...

Kimiko stopped at the last moment, her punch seizing up mid swing. She'd just realized something... she'd...she'd never learned...a Jutsu. Not one, not a single jutsu. Ever, not in her entire life. For all her hard work...she couldn't even really call herself a Ninja in training! The memory of Maboroshi flashed in her mind. He...he was the bad guy, but he always seemed to be ahead of her. He...he wouldn't even fight her.

"ARRRGH! THat's IT!" Kimiko pointed at him furiously "I challenge you to a duel!"

Xenon's smirk faded, he seemed suddenly mellow. "...No."

Kimiko looked livid. "What! You're going to back down from my honorable challenge!?"

Maboroshi looked at her sidelong "There's no way I'd waste my time fighting someone like you."

Her eyes went on fire. "PENALTY!! Face me like a man! Those are the words of a vain coward who's afraid to fight!"

Maboroshi chuckled as though she amused him. "A coward...? Perhaps..." he was smiling bout something "But that doesn't change the fact there'd be no point in me fighting you...there's nothing for me to gain." with that he just left her there... standing in the class room...alone...

Kimiko blinked and shook her head. She had to try one thing at a time.. just like the tree yesterday...one hand hold at a time...

Xenon got up early the next morning. He even skipped his usual morning coffee, making his way immediately to the training grounds. In a way, the peacful surrounding as fitting for what he had to do. He would be flashing through his memories, working his way from one dream to the next in a continuous chain...

As he closed his eyes and closed off the rest of the world, he could feel the swirling torrent of the chakra within him, just as before, no matter how he fought to grasp it, the river ran forever out of his control, the most he was capable of grasping a few stray droplets... he stopped trying to control it, for now, and instead did as he had done before, he submerged himself in the chakra, lost himself in it's current...and fell once more into it's flow...

Xenon stood upon the villages main street, people passing by all around him. He spotted his younger self sitting alone on a bench, watching other children play not to far away. He was a skinny boy for his age, and not very athletic, he looked much more suited for reading indoors than running or playing games... but still... Xen the younger looked at them with a strange shyness in his stare...like he wanted to speak to them... approach them...but he did nothing...until that is, some other children came and scared the group away.

One of them was laughing, a smirk on his face. Xenon the elder remembered this boy quite vividly, and knew unlike his younger counter part the trouble this boy presented. His name was Takasuki Kendo, and he was the son of a rather prominent merchant how lived near the village. He and his two flunkies, sons of his servants both, often went down into the village and caused trouble, they were bullies in the truest sense of the word. Takasuki was his fathers only child, and since his mother past away his last. As heir to his estate the boy was often given everything he desired...accept of course, a parents love and attention. With his mother dead and his father away on business there were few times the boy ever received any discipline, let alone real "love".

Xenon perfectly understood the boys motivation, but he didn't particularly care either. He held no grudge against the boy, quite the opposite. Even as he watched the boy strut over to his younger self and start to pick at him, he felt no lingering animosity, he was just another fool, and had it not been for his actions, Xenon may have lived forever in that world of illusion. He moved onto the next in the chain...

The dream came into focus slowly, and Xenon, in a brief pause of dejavu, found himself back in his old home. His mother was cooking dinner by the stove, he sitting on his large red cushion by the window, cuddled up and reading one of his books.

One of his many windows to illusion... each one a fabrication, each one a lie that spun before his eyes a world of justice and Heroes...were the righteous always came out okay, and the wicked were punished for their deeds...in a world were absolutes existed. Good, Evil,...Xenon settled down beside his younger self, watching his eyes alight with wonder and awe at the words upon the the paper. The comforting notions that were held in that book however, were notions only...they were but a single side to the truth of the world, a fragile reflection upon the truth that was the mirror.

Xenon watched his younger self, totally absorbed by the story, then turned his attention to the book itself. He narrowed his eyes slightly. Ah yes... of course. Tales of Symphonia... he rolled his eyes. One of his favorite stories back then... he and his younger self both looked up as his father entered through the front door. He watched as his younger self marked his page, got up, and ran to greet him happily, his smile bright and his eyes filled with happiness. He frowned. Happiness... can happiness based upon ignorance be called true happiness?

His father spoke "Hey there kiddo, I've got a surprise for you!"

His younger self looked ecstatic "Is it a book?" he asked.

His father laughed as his mother called "Get washed up you to dinner will be ready soon."

His father winked at him "we better do as your mother says then, I'll give you your surprise after dinner."

Xenon turned his face away, the memory moving on. He remembered that day, his father had given him a book alright...one blank of writing. He absently put his hand over the pocket he kept his black note book.

Xenon was standing in a snowy field. His father had been called to Oto for one reason or another, and he and his mother had been invited to come along. The village was apparently wanting his aide after a particularly nasty incident, and they were low on medical nin. Xen couldn't recall this memory specifically however, and it made him curious. It was winter time, and he was bundled up tightly in winter wear, with a thick hat covering his hair, and a scarf pulled up over his face. His golden eyes however peered out happily as he built snow men in...he actually looked rather surprised. He was standing in the very outskirts of Of Otogakure that he'd visited on his search for the Death Note... he blinked as he looked around.

The entire plane was covered in a layer of snow, and it looked picturesque if he did say so. His mother was standing some ways away with some other adults, who were watching there kids play in the field, apparently those were different times...

He was making a snow man, his attention completely absorbed in it, until someone throw a snowball at the back of his head. He fell to the side and landed in the snow, looking surprised and slightly bewildered. Xenon the elder raised an eyebrow and followed the path of the snow ball...

The snowballs path could be traced to a boy who Xenon in fact recognized. He was actually rather pathetic now, a no talent buffoon who was kicked out of the academy, but then it seemed he was fool who still held delusions of being a Shinobi...and attempted to practice by being jerk... Xenon actually smiled slightly, geez, his younger self seemed to be a magnet for them.

"Hey civilian, I like your snow man, I'd like him even better as target practice!" he tossed up a snow ball and caught it again with a smirk. Xenon the elder looked to his mother, she it seemed was engaged in conversation, not noticing the situation.

Xen the younger stood up. "You shouldn't be so mean," he stepped in the way of his snow man "I'm not bothering you, go play over there."

The boy looked angry "You gonna make me civilian!" he tossed the snow ball and hit him square in the face. Xenon the elder closed his eyes, he didn't need to see this, it wasn't-

"Stop right there!" Xenon, both of them, looked up in surprise. Running in between Xen the younger and the assaulting boy, was a young girl dressed just a tightly bundled as he. The girl took a very primitive taijutsu stance and pointed the bully. "Cowardly rogue taking advantage of the peaceful, step down or face the wrath of a bright burning soul!" the girl gave a peace sign, flames burning in her eyes "for I am champion of justice and if you don't stop your heinous crimes I'll be forced to subjugate you to the business end of my fists!"

The boy blinked cluelessly, clearly surprised "H-....huh?"

"I'm gonna kick your butt!!"

The boy ran away crying the girl cracking her little knuckles with a smirk. She called in her young voice "Panzy!" Xen the younger watched in amazement at the girl's actions and looked even more surprised when the girl trotted back and offered him her hand "are you unhurt oh gentle soul?"

Xen the younger's golden eyes seemed amazed still, but he asked practically "Why do you talk that?"

The girl suddenly seemed to realize something "Huh? Oh...sorry, Mommy is always telling me not to talk like Daddy or people will think I'm weird..." she smiled, which was difficult to see behind her scarf. "Are you okay?"

Xen nodded, his eyes now mellow and innocent "I'm fine. Thank you, that was very cool. You were like a real hero."

Xen nodded honestly "Yes...your very excitable aren't you."

She blushed releasing his hands "Oh...sorry...Mommy says I need to..." she seemed suddenly like she was copying someone older "Not smother people..." she then put her face infront his, breaking his personal space "I'm not smothering you am I boy?"

Xen the younger seemed a little embaressed, his faces shade turning somewhat pink, but he smiled "No...I like you, your funny." he laughed happily.

The girl turned even redder her emerald eyes going slightly surprised. She backed away almost shyly and put her hands behind her, "Oh...um...do you want help with your snow ma-"

"Xen, Xen it's time to go!" Xen the younger turned to see his mother calling him.

Xen waved "Okay Mom!" he looked at the girl "I gotta go...thank you hero girl." he bowed to her and turned, trotting through the snow in his overly sized boots to meet his mother.

The girl waved goodbye slightly disappointed, she stood there in the snow and Xen looked back once to smile at her one final time...before he looked ahead.

Xenon the elder however, couldn't keep his eyes off the girl. His face was unreadable, but he said, in an almost musing voice. "Life is simple, life in grand, life is subject to fate's strong hand, but for the flip of coin might we, where in this earth would we two be..." he chuckled to himself as the memory moved on. "Tied at the ankles indeed...Momoe-san." His ever amusing Nemesis, even then she knew how to make him laugh.

Xenon moved on to the next Memory, and the next...and the next... he seemed to flashing though his life on fast forward, some he remembered more vividly than others, but all were a part of him, a part of his past. Whether weak or strong, these memories had made him who he was... and he watched with impartial inspection.

He felt...removed from his past self. There were glimpses, brief similarities, but if one ignored appearance, the Xenon and his younger self seemed far removed from one another two passing strangers... Still, as he got older, as Xenon's view of the real world broadened...the glimpses became more pronounced...every time Takasuki Kendo pushed him down, ridiculed him for not fighting back...the look in those golden eyes became more like that in his own... still...he had a long way to go....

Xenon Opened his eyes. The night about was so beautiful it surprised him. He looked up to find the stars gazing down at him, their pure light cutting through the countless miles of darkness to reach where he sat. He fell back unto the earth finding he was actually rather tired.

He wouldn't go back home tonight. The sky was clear, and he was...at peace. He closed his eyes and oddly enough drifted off, rather quickly into exactly what he'd done to tire himself out... dreaming...though this time he was truly asleep.

Xenon drifted off into a happy slumber, the part of him long lost free to enjoy itself amidst the ever joy filled visions brought to him by his Kekke Genkai. Xenon was at his happiest here, in his dreams, ignorant to what he knew, ignorant to the world beyond...but as he said...is happiness based on ignorance really happiness. The stars themselves stayed silent on the matter, but they watched over the sleeping teen, sentinels hovering over him till the dawn came...

Xenon awoke to find the dawn sky above him. The shadow of night and the light of a new day seemed to be at battle across the heavens as he sat up and adjusted his glasses, which had slid slightly askew during the night. The air seemed somewhat moist as a morning dew hung in the surrounding scene. He frowned, his eyes becoming hard and focused as he fully awakened and recalled his task for the day. It was the third day of his training... and had to keep trying...

He put his hands together in a seal, focusing again of his chakra, submerging in it...letting the dream consume his waking mind...
