Minka just stared for a second, then shook her head no. "No, thank you." She finally managed to find the nerve to leave the corner and slowly took a seat at a table nearby, as if expecting the chair to disappear out from under her. She still looked rather pale. "So.. vill Minka be able to return to her time or vill she stay here forever?" She looked at Cora. "How long have you been here?"

:::Cora poured herself some wine, and took a sip when Minka asked her the questions:::
Actually, you may leave here whenever you like. That door over there :::She points with her free hand::: Opens with the key on that wrack which has your name on it. It will lead you right back home. If you don't use that door though, the brink will eventually just take you back normally.
:::Cora sipped her wine and avoided the second question:::

"Key? Vhat key?" Minka stood up and went over to the key rack, reading over the various names... and sure enough, there was one with hers near the bottom. "And if Minka uses this key, it vill surely take her back to her own place and time? November fourth, 1899? Are you completely positive about that?" She didn't want to try using the key only to find herself next to some prehistoric monster.

:::Sipping:::
That is correct. You would return to the exact place and time that you left. And you may never return, or you might retunr moments later...there's no telling.

Minka nodded, trying to figure out exactly that meant, and wandered back to her chair, sitting down again. "Minka von't leave just yet..." she muttered, staring off into space, then blinked and looked back at Cora again. "How many people are.. here.. in the Brink.. right now?"

:::Cora sorta felt glad for the company again. Minka seemed to be polite...but herhaps she was just confused and didn''t have the engery to kill/attack/hurt/threaten/seduce/poison or otherwise case distress to Cora. She gave her the benefit of the doubt:::
Just you and I right now, unless there is someone down that hall over there...
:::She pointed at the opposite hall::: Down that hallway is a great library. It''s full of books. :::Cora listend for a moment::::
I don''t hear anyone, so I''m pretty sure that it is just you and I.

"Oh. Okay..." Minka put her elbows on the table and cradled her face in her hands for a few seconds. She didn't think she could take meeting another person here just yet. She sighed slightly, then looked up, seemingly resigned. "So.. assuming that Minka isn't just having a dream or a hallucination or something... Vhat's the future like? Jou said jou came from.. the year 3000 or around there..." Minka laughed quietly. At this point she just didn't know what to think. "Are there really carriages that don't need horses?"

Hah...hehe...
:: razz erhaps the wine warmed her up:::
Yes... ::She said still smiling a little::: Right now, meaning...during your time right now, humans begin to develope automobiles. Believe me, Minka, they become very very popular and advanced.
:::Cora sips again and feels strange not sharing something with the new woman:::
Are you sure that you would not like something to drink?

"Er... Alright. Anything." Minka shrugged and walked over to the bar. She figured that since this was probably a dream, anything she drank here couldn't hurt her. "Can jou recommend anything? Some.. future drink or something..?"

:::Cora looked appologetic:::
The only liquid we drink in my native time is water, and I take it you've had that before. But I find that some of the aged drinks are very delicious. I will give you what I am haivng now.
:::She pours the strong red merlot into a second glass and hands it to Minka:::

"Oh, thank jou." Minka took a sip and glanced around the room to see if anything had changed. Her dreams were usually.. more unpredictable than this. Then again, she was already having a drink with someone from the future in a place removed from regular time. That was pretty unbelievable in itself... which is why Minka didn't really believe it was happening. She looked back at Cora and smiled again. "So, more about the future... There are still people there, of course? Monkeys haven't taken over the planet or anything?"

Primates...? What in the world gives you that idea?

"Vell, it vould be what, another thousand years? If this could happen, that could happen," Minka said, shrugging and taking another sip of her wine. "Anyvay... tell me more. Minka von't live to see that far in the future, so tell her vhat it's like."

:::Talking about a world that Cora had no desire to return to ever again wasn't exactly the topic she would have chosen for discussion, but she would humor Minka for her sake:::
Well... it's very different from your time. The technology has advanced beyond anything you can imagine most likely. We do not become ill or diseased, we do not give birth physically, and we do not eat food or drink wine. We spend our whole lives studying and training. There is no money, and no religion...though...
:::She ponders for a moment:::
There might still be war...

Minka blinked and nodded slowly. "Oh... studying and training? That's no fun." Granted, Minka didn't have much fun in her own time period, but she didn't have to study and train all the time, either. "And no money? How do people survive-- I mean, vithout money how do you buy anything? It couldn't vork..." Well, it probably could, if Cora was telling the truth, but Minka's head was already beginning to hurt. She didn't want to start thinking about that and get even more confused.
