Toby set the little girl down on the creek bed and reached out for her hand.
"Okay! On three." Counting was a good skill to have too.

Holly took Toby's hand and looked to the creek. It wasn't very deep, safe enough to splash in, right? Oh, on three? ...what was three?
"Three!" She announced. They got to jump in now, maybe?

Toby laughed and held her back.
"Nono. One, two, three!" And he jumped in with her, leaving her some slack in case she didn't catch the 'three' right away.

One, two, three! That was better, she supposed. She jumped in with Toby, giggling happily. She jumped up and down and caused more splashing.
"Jump, puppy!"

Toby jumped up and down in the water, trying to not make any splashes too high for the baby. She'd need to put on a new coat after this. They'd have to teach Reese how to wash clothes in the creek...

Splash! The toddler bounced again, giggling in delight. She bent down and stuck her hands in the water. "Is cold, Poppy!" She announced, before straightening and jumping again.

"That's alright! We have all kinds of stuff to keep you warm!"
It was quite some time later when his partners and the tour guide returned, sans the sprites. So they must be getting set up somewhere. He continued to pay lots of attention to Holly, but he did have some work-conversations to have. it was even later than that when they all finally settled in for bed. They'd all kipped in the same multi-room tent, and Toby had zipped his and Maia's sleeping bags together.

The nymph decided later that night that she wanted Poppy again. She knocked on the tent. "Poppy!" She called. "Want in!"
Maia looked around, yawning. "Toby, you have a visitor," she said.

Toby startled slightly, but he recognized Holly's voice immediately. He gave a "shhhhh" as if anyone wasn't awake right now and leaned up to unzip the tent.
"C'mere." His voice was still low.

"Shhh," Holly greeted Toby when he unzipped the tent, wrapping her arms around him. "Poppy, missed you!" And she was sleepy. "Poppy bedtime now?"

Toby nodded.
"Yeah, it's bedtime." He zipped the tent back up and laid down, then held open the large sleeping bag so Holly could join them if she wanted. It got so cold at night, he wasn't sure how she wasn't hibernating. Maybe she wasn't that type of nymph.

Holly climbed in the middle of the sleeping bag, cuddling between the two. "Night night, Poppy." She yawned and nestled happily. This place was so much warmer than the inside of her tree. Her eyes closed.

Toby kissed the baby's head and rubbed her back until she fell asleep. Once he was sure she was out, he reached over her to tap Maia on the shoulder.
