I just finished my tests, apart from the Japanese one tomorrow xd Now I can relax, enjoy Gaia and write my novel...
What's up with Idol? Everybody is talking about it... we don't have anything like that here (or maybe we do, and I don't know).

Tiana Sidhe Amethyst Light Tiana: Well, you've just got to see if the form is negative or not. Then you go to the respective quadrant and shaaade away~ :3 Now why didn't I think of that?! *huggleth* Oh, also, another way is to take a point on one side of the line and use those values as the values for x and y. If the equation comes out true, you shade on the side where the point is. If it comes out false, you shade on the other side of the line~ Tiana Sidhe You're thinking of Star Search, Alex. I think they came up with the title in order to catch people's attention. Now, I hope you all are not putting down Carrie. Because if you are, I don't want to hear it. You won't like me griping you out for putting down a very talented singer that my whole family, not to mention my whole STATE, loves... stare And in no way was I putting down Carrie. She's a very talented singer, of course. I'm just complaining about the title of the show, how it gives a false meaning. Sure, Carrie might be a very good candidate for a role model, an idol. But we don't know that by her singing talents. I just don't like the title~

Well, I feel unproductive. ^^; I spent three hours last night "stitching in time," basically. I think I'm halfway there to saving myself time in the future, but for right now, I have nothing to show for my time. *lol*

I think the definition of Idol is more than that... in the Bible, an idol is something to be worshipped, an object placed higher than man... by men. Go figure. But it's not a good thing. I think your definition, Alex, more closely matches the definition of a "hero." For generations, teen stars have been called "idols" and "pop idols" sarcastically by the parents of teens, because people were so obsessively worshipful of them -- look at the Beatles, for instance. It seemed to be more so with musicians/singers, so "idol" has taken on the definition of a singer-type person. Web definitions: 1. a material effigy that is worshipped as a god; "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image"; "money was his god" 2. someone who is adored blindly and excessively 3. paragon: an ideal instance; a perfect embodiment of a concept
I'm thinking they're considering the second definition here.

Kimi: ... confused
That's one crazy story. I've never personally heard any definitions like that of idol, that's for sure. I was always taught that an idol was how I'd described it, and... Well, maybe it's just Rhode Island that thinks that. >>; Ask anybody here, and they'll give the same response as me.
Aaanyways. I'll just let my end stand that I don't look up to people based on their talents... Regardless of what any word means. surprised

Alex: I believe the Bible definition was the first (the people wandering in the desert with Moses melted down gold and created a golden calf to worship when he disappeared for a while) and the rest just followed after, but hey... I just tell it like it is. *lol* I've never been one to become obsessed over anyone that way, either.
