i play tau currently but am looking to start an eldar army with the reliese of the new codex can any one reccomend what to get first? ive never played an army that can fight close combat and win

not sure about the cc part of that there, But seeing as youre talking cc, Id say if they still had it Biel Tan.

Anyways Youll want probably a good mix, a lot of people loike Banshees, I like scorpions personally. But the new update sort of screws this up. I cant say Farseers, autarchs, or the Avatar, as I have no idea what theyll be like. And honestly most of their units can do double duty, hell even the spiders look like theyll be getting a bit more close combat punch.

So youll just have to wait till it comes out like the rest of us.

If your going for close combat it would be interesting. With the 4th ed rules and the new eladar codex coming out. My suggestion is to take an Autarch with cc type weapons. I htink you can give him a power weapon. Take a fair of Banshee/Scorpion squads with exarchs. Infiltrate the Scorpions and tie up the enemy while your banshes move in then if things hold out your'll have a hay day.

A little advise on CC. Diresword + Good dice throws = absolute rape. It works like a force weapon that can keep on hitting until you miss.

Farseer with Doom + 10 Howling Banshees + Wave Serpant=Dropping Banshees into combat, charging with power weapons, automaticly going first in combat, re-rolling misses to wound (from Doom)=total killing in combat. Simple logic.

WRONG! with the new codex banshees lose the power wepons so it becomes a bit harder...

Whoo, the new 'dex was out yesterday. Got hold of it, along with a box of Avengers.

Now I have to write a new list, but all the new options seem so nice. D:

Damn right!

Now, for my new list: I'm not sure whether to go for the mechanised infantry style of list (like my old Biel-Tan list) OR go for a more footslogging one.

the new Dire Avengers are so cool too. I need to get a fusion gun for my Autarch though. D:

My list was all foot, itll probably stay that way as much as the new prism sounds great. But then again no crystal targeting matrix...

I can't wait for Maugan Ra to be a normal HQ choice... only a week away until my favourite Phoenix lord is leading my army. ^_^

This isn't easy to say, but I'm entirely new when it comes to playing the Eldar. I've been playing Space Marines, Chaos and Tyranids for some time now(with some Guard here and there), so the Eldar are a different to me. I have the box army on it's way right now, so it's a definate that they are my next army. Before I was really hung up on the modelsbecause I really didn't care for them in the past), but the new ones have really won me over.

It is cool though that the Harlequins are back at this point as I've always been a fan of them, I just have to figure out their specific dynamic. I'm going to need a lot of advice as it's a new ballgame right now.
