"Geeeenji!" The girl saw him smirk, a look on his face that could only mean trouble, and she knew he was teasing her. He was not going to say what was on his mind, which had her even more curious and more insistent to know. Her cheeks puffed as she followed behind her berry haired companion, her mind already thinking about all the possible things he could have been about to say. 'When this is over...' he had started to say, before sharing a mysterious smile with her and trailing off. Just...what had he wanted to say? When this is over...When this is over... It would haunt her for the rest of the day. Until this was over.
She needed to know! "Genji, don't ignore me! Will you tell me afterwards? Please don't tease me like thiiiiiiis." Still, she sounded playful despite her whiny voice and her pouts. For now though... Yes. Yes, focus on the battle. She couldn't be distracted right now.
But... ugh! She couldn't help it! She wanted to know!

Taking the Candelabrum from Koji, Hitomi placed the precious object in her bag before setting off to continue on her quest. However, little did she know that small Gecko-like demon had snuck into the token compartment of her bag and was stealing exactly 25 tokens.
But what she did notice was that the sneaky b*****d was trying to squirm out of the tight opening of her bag with her loot!
"OI, GET BACK HERE!" Hitomi yelled as she chased after the lizard, losing him in a small hole in a dead tree; meaning it was trapped. "GIVE ME THOSE TWENTY FIVE TOKENS, OR DO I HAVE TO FIGHT YOU FOR THEM!?" She thundered as she reached her hand inside the hole and grabbed all of her tokens back. However, it just so happened that someone was passing by that tree while she was making a commotion... And it definitely sounded like she was talking to them.

Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist "...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."
He knew how curious Minori could be; she'd be thinking all day about what he had trailed off with earlier, the very thought invading her mind at every quiet moment, every time she looked him in the eye, but watching her squirm and wonder was going to be half the fun of having teased her in the first place. She called out after him but they were already on the move, so he merely gave her a look that said something to the effect of 'Maaaybe?' before turning a corner towards the Downtown Area's main drag. There, in the streets, he saw the origin of some of the sounds of battle! Pulling up short, he waited for his girlfriend to catch up to him and held an arm out to make sure she didn't run too far and get caught up in the middle of the battle between summoners. His eyes took in all that was before him, and while he didn't have his powers like he did before all of this began, he could dissect the situation in a fairly short order. The first thing that he took note of was the teal-haired girl who was fighting against the other people using demons; she had been there when the members of their Restoration Faction group met back at the station, quiet but hopeful when she stood in the back, and she had been one of the first to leave the station when they were finished. Opposite her right now was a strange man with coal-black skin and a white mask, someone who looked more demon than man, and that was enough to raise his eyebrow. Nearby were a woman and a man who appeared to have just been in a fight with someone, none of the latter three being particularly familiar to him. But the boy...had something about him? It reminded him of the one from the station, the one looking at Minori...but who were they, exactly?
"It is dangerous to move forward," the berry-haired heir spoke just loud enough for Minori to hear, but quiet enough that the fighting parties would hopefully not hear them. It was a good idea not to make a move until they were completely prepared, lest they get caught in the crossfire before they could make a move. "We should wait for this battle to wind down before we intervene. If I am correct, this is how this contest for the Candelabras works. We must wait for the outcome, and then make our own move. ...Be prepared, Minori."
Genji watched, prepared to make his move...but it was at that moment that he saw the figure watching from atop a nearby building, long white hair with a white mask and a mutated arm. That girl...the description...hadn't that been the description to match the leader of the Reason of Yoshuga? Suddenly, he knew that a change in plans was in order. Turning to Minori, he set a hand on her shoulder and nodded up towards the rooftop of what appeared to be one of the abandoned warehouses in the District. This fight would resolve itself, wouldn't it? But that girl...if she chose to intervene with the power of a God on her side, it might end in something worse than a simple defeat! There was only one move to make...motioning with his eyes he slowly backed away from the battle and then ducked into a nearby alley, circling around until he found a dumpster that would allow him to scale the side of the building and reach the low rooftop of the warehouse. Taking the climb in one running leap, he caught the edge of the rooftop with his hands and pulled himself up, waiting to offer a hand to Minori before turning his attention back towards the leader of the Reason of Yosuga.
She heard them land, turning in his direction on instinct, ready to fight. He slipped into his own Gentle Fist stance and slowly circled, palms out as a gesture of good will.
"Forgive me...you are Chiaki Tachibana, are you now? I am Amagai Genji. I have heard your story..."
She scoffed and the black of her arm throbbed painfully. He could sense that she was debating whether to attack now, or attack later. It was in his best interest not to push her too hard, he knew, but if he could somehow convince her...
"I was, but I am more than that now. My story...that doesn't matter anymore, does it? I am the Baal Avatar, Lord of the Reason of Yosuga."
He winced at the hatred in her voice, but he could feel that it wasn't directed at him...but herself. Rather, the person that she had been before. The picture began to clarify, just a little. He knew that he had to press her a little more, if he was going to get to the heart of it. But how?
"Who you are before does matter. And who you are now is not divorced from the you that lead you down this path. You were once weak, and that weakness drove you to seek strength. I can understand that...my own family...on the very first day, I found what was left of them..."
Before he could finish his thought the girl was upon him. She thrust her massive black arm in his direction and he avoided it with a parry, barely...but her knee connected with his stomach a moment later and he rolled to the edge of the rooftop and hit the barricade there roughly, getting back to his feet just in time to roll out of the way of a deadly fire spell that scorched the stone beneath him. Something he had said ticked a nerve...made her attack him. He rose and she attacked again, but this time he focused, took a breath...
And ducking beneath her wild attack he extended his arm and his palm smashed into her sternum, his body rolling away from an attempt to grab his collar before he jabbed the crease of her elbow at a pressure point and temporarily stunned it, allowing him to block the next attack in such a fashion that they ended up locked in a stalemate...eye-to-eye, pushing against one another...but the power of a God was overwhelming, his heels gave way and the edge of the rooftop crept up behind him! He could feel her rage...her pain! What could he say? What could he do to get to the heart of it?
"I...am sorry..." he struggled, his injured back tearing, aching under the strain, "You might have heard that before, but...I am...sorry. I understand...how this world...can change you..."
Suddenly she drove him back hard, slamming against the barricade at the edge of the rooftop, the only thing keeping him from falling to the concrete below, and there he was stuck as she seethed!
"I don't want your pity! I don't need your sympathy, either! And I don't ******** need you to be my hero!" she ground out, struggling with something inside of herself...but when she recovered use of her human arm and tried to slam it into him, he let her tension go lax and she lunged over his shoulder, sternum landing flush against the flat of his palm and another Gentle Fist strike, knocking her back a little and putting them opposite one another again!
"That is not my intention! I am not a hero...I cannot even save those dearest to me," he struggled to keep from losing control of his own emotions now...his body was strained, the fight having taken something out of him that would be hard to get back, "I felt hopeless...aimless, weak. I believed that this world might consume me. ...But it did not. I found strength within myself to move forward. I found a reason to keep living within compassion, a drive to use that strength to protect that which remained! I understand you better than you think, Chiaki...your hopelessness, your weakness...you have changed it into strength! I admire that! But to use your strength to oppress those who are in the position you once were...is that not too cruel? Do you not feel that it is just too unfair?!"
He could feel his words hit her like a blow, see her recoil one step...two steps...but as her teeth grit and she seemed to think it over, her grim resolve began to win out...and as she spoke again, there was steel there...but also pain, anger, hopelessness...and this, Genji thought, was the real Chiaki, finally.
"No, I don't," she responded solemnly, voice cold and hard, "When I awakened I thought I was in a nightmare...I nearly died, so many times...I was nothing. Hopeless. I wanted to cry and cry, until there was nothing left...but then I realized the truth. And it was so simple...this world isn't fair. The weak die...the strong endure. I only survived the Conception by chance...not because I was strong. And I would have died...should have died...but I found my answer and I fought for a new truth. A new Reason. ...Strength is my Reason now. It is the only way to survive..." She paused a moment, her eyes returning to him from the ground, and this time the challenge was clear, as well as the promise.
Attack again...take one step closer...and you're dead. That was what they screamed at him. And in spite of how much he wanted to do more...he knew, this time, he had to let it go.
"Amagai Genji...I will remember your name. Not because of anything you said to me, but because...you are strong. And when the new world is born...I have no doubt I'll see you again, there."
...He wondered...was she hoping that he would live? Was there a part of her, then, that he had managed to reach? Before he could ask, though, before he could even think it...the girl turned and leaped down from the rooftop on the side opposite him, and by the time he could rush over to the other side to see in which direction she had run...she was gone.

Miho left the headquarters are after having delivered her report, stopping along the way to scoop up a small, glittering talisman that was lying along the side of the road. She looked at it for a few moments, not entirely sure what it was... then shrugged and slipped it into her pocket. Maybe one of the girls would have a better idea of what it was all about.
Youmu Konpaku Another powerful slash.. Youmu continued her march towards Obelyn..more bounties appearing on her phone. She sighed, before drawing her sword once more, preparing for combat. "Gabriel! Raphael! Metatron!" the girl called, the three Angels circling their phone..As Magical spells bombarded their targets....And, with her blade able to dice up any remnants of a target..she gathered up some more Macca. "Phew...Let's keep going."

Shortly after Miho had picked up the talisman, a massive demon - ten feet tall, at least - burst through the side of a nearby ruined building and let out a loud battle cry. "...As you wish." Miho said quietly. She darted to the side as the creature rushed out at her, then whirled around and slammed one fist deep into its side. It let out a screech of pain, knocking her backwards with a sweep of its heavy weapon, only to realize that she'd disappeared from its sight.
"Behind you." she said flatly, plunging a hand right into the back of its chest and ripping out a piece of its body. The demon's body hit the ground with a heavy thud as Miho dropped the mass she'd ripped out and glanced down as it vanished into magnetite energy. "...They're getting bolder." she noted with a frown.
An entire stampede of demons came out a moment later, attracted by the sound of battle, and Miho sighed slightly as she grabbed her shield with her left hand and raised it up. It was time to get to work, and she began darting to the side as the demons came at her, lashing out at the most exposed targets with quick, darting blows. She wasn't even bothering with the handaxe anymore - against creatures like these, her bare fist sufficed.
(Maybe it was the lingering essence of the mark that had turned her into one of the Risen, but... there was definitely something weird about her strength.)

Youmu Konpaku Another surge of energy.. Youmu could feel the spirit of a wailing demon possessing her...And filling her with raw power. "I am ready.." she called to the spirit...A Mot creeping from it's coffin. A powerful foe...the likes of which a fiend could be compared... Yet, with the combined power of the demon, and her own honed skill..It didn't last long... "Hrnnn...Always such a weird feeling.." she called, the dozens of times she'd been possessed... Still not easing her from the weird tingling it left her with.

The horde of demons showed no sign of slowing down - as she finished up with the first group, a series of skeletal arms erupted out of the ground, and a mass of undead started to pull themselves free. Without hesitating, Miho darted over and slammed her fist down on top of one of them, scattering its body before whirling around and kicking through her next target. Let those who wanted to change the world send their minions - she'd protect the people of Inaba, no matter how many of them she had to get rid of.

Kisa nodded as she stepped out of the base they'd been using. Miho seemed to have the small-fry well in hand, and... goodness, she wasn't even using demon allies to do it? Despite herself, Kisa was a bit surprised by that one - but the two of them had spent a long time talking inside and going over their plans, and Kisa'd been surprised by how much she appreciated the older woman's experience and expertise.
