Had he known it'd be just the same outcome again, maybe he would have, no, should have? jumped instead. Even having the fog helping him, preventing him from becoming a pancake on the ground, he still held a grudge against, annoyed it was still touching him.
But the blessing, the warmth... This was what he came for, and in it, all he endured was worth it.

The fall he saw coming as always, and feared to face that terror of cowardice, or the twisted darkness of the traitor. As he fell into the memory, he closed his eyes.
They filled the skies. She tightened her grip on her weapon and felt a great and terrible resolve rise in her soul. She would die here, she knew, and yet she felt no fear. She would die protecting her people. She would die, but she would take many of them with her into the abyss. She was steel, forged and pure.
The resolve was almost tangible. He was not afraid, nothing scared him, nothing would ever stop him.
Acerola found herself once again at the Spire's island staircase. She took the first few steps bravely. She THOUGHT she knew what was going to happen. But nothing prepared her for the next scene she saw, as the fog washed over her once more.
This one was slightly different. She saw a girl this time, and at the girl's scream, she felt excruciating pain, physical and mental, that was beyond anything she had ever felt before. The feeling of loving one's loved ones and having nothing left.
When the vision ended, she sat there for a moment, wanting to cry for the girl.
