It was obvious that Phoenix's level of irritation was rising; she found herself shooting a dark glare to Sabrina and then to Anastasia before redirecting her attention to Ninetales and Venusaur, both of whom were recuperating from the Psychic attack. They were evidently wounded. The girl remained silent for a moment, pondering her situation; while both Pookie and Anastasia were strong Pokemon, the Jynx was the obviously larger threat of the two, and Phoenix recalled the times that Raimundo had mentioned how hit-or-miss the Rhyhorn could be. Keeping these thoughts in mind, the girl ultimately decided that it would be wiser to prioritize attacking Sabrina's Pokemon, while doing the best she could to avoid the potential damage from Pookie. Looking now to Raimundo, she nodded her head in the direction of Anastasia to indicate her intentions.

"Your superfluousness is annoying at best, Sabrina," the girl remarked. "You're a Gym Leader who's got access to some moves that aren't available anymore-- big deal. That doesn't put you at an advantage in my eyes-- if anything, I think it's going to prove to be your downfall."

"She's right, you know," Rai added. "After all, you really shouldn't underestimate us and get too cocky; we're really not as dumb as you think we are."
"Heh. You sure about that?" Nina asked. "Why don't you go ahead and stop talking so big and act on it?"
"Nina, don't--!"
"Ah, but with pleasure."

Letting out another yelp, Phoenix's Ninetales now found herself rushing towards Anastasia, covering a great distance in nearly the blink of an eye. As she closed in on her opponent, four duplicates of the Ninetales found themselves manifesting, running all around, in front of, and in back of the Pokemon, intentionally mixing themselves around with one another so as to disguise which of them was the true Ninetales. The five of them resumed their pursuit little more than a moment later.

At her Trainer's behest, Anastasia shot out a barrage of Shadow Balls at her oncoming opponents; a couple of them connected, causing the illusory Pokemon to disappear, while the others missed. Before long, Anastasia found herself being struck by the Ninetales' Quick Attack; despite that being less-than-powerful, it still harmed the Jynx a bit worse than it would have harmed another Pokemon, largely due to Anastasia's lack of physical defense. Following the Ninetales' attack, however, the mirages that had been created had disappeared, creating a split-second window of opportunity for Anastasia to retaliate. Before Ninetales could escape, she shot forth another Shadow Ball, this time connecting with its intended target; it knocked Ninetales back a distance, harming her in the process. Her adversary was a bit wounded by this point, and Anastasia watched as the fox returned to Phoenix's side.

There was no rest for the weary, however, as Venusaur made certain of that; as he watched Anastasia recuperating, he seized the moment to utilize his own attack. Making eye contact with Anastasia, he winked at her; yellow hearts were released from his body and headed in her direction, striking her after a moment of two. The yellow hearts then transformed into pink ones, which floated around Anastasia's head as she blushed, indicating that she had fallen under the Attract condition.

Raimundo chuckled smugly. "Now, this is funny. First it was Nina who fell for me, but now, Sabrina, your Pokemon is falling for mine! What is it with you people?"
"Watch your mouth!" Nina hollered, obviously provoked.
"What? It's the truth. I guess that you'll attach yourselves to anyone or anything that pays you any sort of attention-- am I wrong?"
Nina clenched her fists at her sides tightly once again, falling for her adversary's taunt. "I swear, I'll make you eat those words! Pookie, I want you to use a Horn Drill attack on that Venusaur, now!"
"Nina, no!"

Pookie wasn't entirely certain what Horn Drill was, or exactly how it was very different from the Horn Attack that he liked to use, but he would try to make Nina happy because she seemed pretty upset at the moment. Scampering ahead, Venusaur in his sights, Pookie thrashed his head about a little bit as he bridged the gap between them; was this was Nina wanted?

No, she said something about Horn Drill. How could he do that? Drills were those spinny things that could dig into stuff, right? So-- wait! Did she want him to spin his horn? It seemed silly, but he decided to give it a try.

Pookie waited until he was within striking distance of the Venusaur before he began to spin the front horn on his face, above his snout; it began whirring and making a horrible noise, but Pookie seemed pretty amused by it and pleased with himself for figuring out how to do it. He halted his attack attempt and stopped in his tracks, beginning to run around in circles in celebration. He returned to his Trainer a few moments later, an expression of happiness on his face.

Phoenix seemed equally as happy-- she started laughing, quite loudly. "Ah, brilliant display, Nina! I must say that your obviously impaired judgement has provided for some most amusing entertainment!"
It wasn't long before Raimundo began to laugh as well. "What'd I tell you, Phoenix? This girl can't concentrate at all as long as someone's messing with her head! It's almost unfair to be screwing with a loony like this."
"I thought you were jesting, but after having witnessing this firsthand, it appears you weren't! The poor dear, she must feel awful. My little Nina, is it really that bad? Why, I'll bet you feel like nobody in the world cares for you, let alone even likes you. But then again, perhaps that is not the case-- I'm sure that at least, oh, four out of every eleven people must care about you."

"The pair of you will cease this nonsense immediately!" Sabrina screamed, rather shrilly, instantly causing her adversaries to be quiet, even though she knew that it would only be temporary. From there, she diverted her attention to her sister, who was clearly very shaken up by the verbal assault. Pulling her aside, Sabrina looked into the girl's eyes as she spoke.

"Nina, you must listen to me and listen closely. They know you have a weakness and they will be exploiting that for as long as we are in contact with them. You must learn to overcome your weakness, or else we will continue to be at their mercy. If you need an example, look no further than your previous action; you issued a command to Pookie out of impulse and rage, whereas if you had a clearer head, you would have recognized that that was not how you should have responded. I don't know when Anastasia will be able to attack, so until Raimundo's Pokemon is eliminated, you cannot rely on me to help you; you will have to fend for yourself and retain as much focus as you possibly can. Please, Nina-- do everything that you can to stay focused. I will do everything in my power to help you past this once we are in a safer place."

Phoenix watched with boredom as Nina and Sabrina returned to their places, after evidently incurring some sort of pep talk. "That's cute," she remarked, "but let's get back to business, shall we? I do believe it's my turn." The girl wore a dark smile as she looked to Anastasia. "It's time, Ninetales. Use a Fire Spin."

Affixing her gaze upon the Jynx, Ninetales spat forth a series of flames toward her opponent which, upon impact, combined with one another into a fiery pillar that engulfed the Humanshape's entire body, spinning around her a few times and inflicting some damage.

"My, my, Sabrina-- I do hope you weren't planning on recalling that Jynx of yours. It seems like that is just not an option at this point."

Mike nodded at Kasiya's concern. He knew he didn't have to remind her that it still might be a bit early to toss Shocker into a high stakes battle. “Oh no, not right now, no.” he said with a wave of his hand at her query. “I just figured I'd toss a few ideas out to get started.” He took a bite of his fry, smirking at the thought of Xanthos and Casmir tearing through some sorry Psychic types. “Your Absol and your...wait. Who's Twilight?” From the name, he assumed it was another dark type or something night-ish, but he didn't recall her ever mentioning a Pokemon by that name before. “Did you catch a Lunatone?” he asked, wracking his brain for more possibilities. His chewing stopped, and a light wisp of smoke wafted from his forehead as he thought.

Sasha pretended not to notice the occassional onlooker taking note of her tattered clothing that left a little less to the imagination than her usual attire, and smiled all the same as she followed her butler to the train station. The magnet train was fairly new, and as such, still impeccably maintainted; perfect for a lady of class. Bishop approached the ticket stand and purchased two seats in the front of the car, which were just ahead of the dining cars and reserved for the more well-off patrons. With all the excitement of her previous battle, Sasha was plenty fine with a more relaxed trip. The girl was led into the car, and settled down in a very cushy chair. Sasha let out a pleasured sigh and melted into the seat.

“One way trip to Celadon City, Kanto.” a voice said over the loudspeaker. “We should be arriving in approximately 25 minutes.” Sasha heard the doors throughout the train slowly roll to a close, her eyes closing again. The last thing she heard was Bishop flipping open another newspaper before she drifted away into a light sleep.

Blinking a few times in surprise, Kasiya looked up at Mike as he asked her who Twilight was. She opened her mouth to answer, only then realizing just how drastically her team had changed since the two have them had last hung out together. And, of course, that she still owed an explanation of how she'd acquired a rather powerful Flygon, as well. "Lunatone? No," she said, shaking her head, mostly because she wasn't even sure she knew what a Lunatone was. "Twilight's an Umbreon," she said matter-of-factly. "I traded Ryka my Skitty for him. I think it was a pretty good decision," she added, looking quite pleased with herself as she stuffed a hunk of pizza crust in her mouth: manners what?

She chewed thoughtfully for a few moments before washing it down with some melty milkshake and she nodded. "I think I have a few Pokemon now that you haven't met before. A lot of them I got from trading with other people. When we get back to the center, I could show them to you! That is, if you want." She smiled again and went back to her mostly-gone poutine; it seemed she was hungrier than she'd realized.

By now, Madison was looking at Jake as though he had a third eye growing out of his forehead, but she giggled again. "Yeah, he's a Pokemon. What else would he be?"

Jake looked utterly embarrassed and he scratched the back of his head. "Well, what kind of Pokemon is he?" he asked, now fishing out his shiny new PokeDex. "At least I'll know what I'm looking for."

"Oh, I don't know that," she shrugged. "But I do call him Sparky."

Jake raised an eyebrow. "Sparky. Because he...?" he trailed off, and as expected, Madison answered.

"He looks all sparky! Like a light bulb!"

"Right," Jake nodded, opening his PokeDex anyway. If he were to go strictly off the girl's description, he could be looking through the 'Dex forever, but knowing that she called it 'Sparky' at least meant that he could narrow it down to at least an Electric-type. I wonder if Magnemite would be any help, he wondered as he scrolled through the pages, pausing briefly on a yellow rodent with red cheeks. Pikachu looked incredibly familiar to him, yet he knew he wouldn't be able to recall why. He flipped quickly through the pages, mentally reading off the names. Electrike, Manectric, Plusle, Minun, Shinx- his thoughts were cut out abruptly as his PokeDex vibrated a little and then the screen went dark. Naturally, Jake's first instinct was to give it a little percussive therapy but that didn't work, and neither did shaking the hell out of it. "Aw man."

The beginning of the trip had been quite uneventful, which Karrigan found to be a good thing as she'd had enough excitement over the past few days. She managed to get the bandages on her hand changed, glad to find that it had closed up well and no longer seemed to pose a threat to spontaneous bleeding. All she had to do now was keep it clean to prevent infection, though she was certain that she would have quite a distinctive scar when the healing process was complete. She also familiarized herself with the ship's layout, amazed to find that they had areas for battling (though certain restrictions were in place, specifically what Pokemon could not be used and various moves and etc). Deciding that watching a few battles could help to pass the time she made her way to the nearest mini-stadium, which happened to be on deck, toward the rear of the ship.

When she arrived, she was instantly greeted with an aerial battle, though at the moment, the two combatants were moving far too fast for her to be able to identify them. She found a seat and trained her gaze skyward, like the other spectators. One Pokemon was nothing more than a blur of blue while the other looked more tan, and only when they came to a near-standstill in midair did she recognize the tan one - a Pidgeotto. Her PokeDex told her that the blue one was a Swellow, native to the Hoenn region. Both birds were spectacularly fast and agile, trading Quick and Wing Attacks as well as blustering Gusts of wind and sharp Peck attacks. Not long after sitting down, she'd let little Naga out of her Pokeball to watch as well, though at first the Cubchoo didn't realize that the battle was mostly taking place above them.

In the end, the Swellow managed to come out as the victor, finishing off the Pidgeotto with an impressive Aerial Ace. It was impossible not to applaud the efforts of both Pokemon and the birds' trainers met in the middle of the arena and shook hands in a show of good sportsmanship.

“An Umbreon, eh?” Mike said, stealthely slipping his hand into his bag and pulling out his Pokedex, keeping eye contact on Kasiya as she talked. His eyes darted down only for seconds at a time as he thumbed the buttons to search the 'U' section of the database. He whistled to cover up the clicks and beeps as the old machine whirred to life, displaying the image of the black and gold fox. “Oh neat.” he said under his breath, quickly scanning the Pokemon's statistics. “I'm sure that the Umbreon's,” he coughed. “Naturally hardy body would really help out in the fight. Not to mention its immunity.” He smiled, curling his thumb to shut the device. None the wiser, he thought with a smirk. "Sure. I'd love to see some of your new captures!" he replied, wondering if he had captured anything that she hadn't seen yet. He listed off his Pokemon, counting them with his fingers. Nope! She'd seen them all so far.

Mike finished up his fries, then took to watching his date shovel food into her mouth. Man, he thought he was hungry. Turns out he didn't know the meaning of the word. The boy raised an eyebrow, wondering where all of it was going. He leaned to the side and gave Kasiya a quick up and down, but that only reminded him just how lovely his company was. Gotta love the athletic types, he thought, taking particulay notice of her slender legs that worked all the way to a very pleasant looking behind. Before he knew it, Mike felt his heart begin to beat quickly once again as his mind began to fill with devious thoughts. Oh what perfect timing, she was done eating. “Wanna head back?” he asked with a tilt of his head, picking up both trays regardless and dumping the trash in the garbage. The boy walked back, took Kasiya by the hand and walked back in the direction of the Pokemon center. All in all, a very successful trip, Mike thought, smiling at the lovely girl beside him.

They were toying with her. Nina knew that both Phoenix and Raimundo were toying with her, intentionally attempting to stress her out so that she found it impossible to concentrate. After all, why didn't Phoenix just off Anastasia instead of trapping her with Fire Spin? It seemed like initially they wanted to tend to defeating Sabrina's Pokemon, but evidently their ideas had changed, and the focus shifted to her, and to her very unreliable Pokemon. It wasn't a secret that Pookie certainly had a great sense of strength, but at present, Nina couldn't rely on him as much as she would like-- while it probably wasn't the wisest of her ideas to open up with him in a battle like this, she supposed that if nothing else, this would help the pair of them bond a bit closer. After all, what wouldn't kill Nina would make her stronger.

She looked to Sabrina for a moment and paused; her attention shifted to Pookie, whom she watched scratch himself behind the ear again. This won't do, the girl thought. I have to figure out a new plan of action with Pookie-- I have to try something new. I have to think of something, and fast, and I have to do it while ignoring those two jerks who are doing everything in their power to get inside my head. The girl's train of thought shifted for a moment, and she chuckled to herself. It's crowded and crazy enough in there already, after all.

"Ugh, I guess she's not listening," Raimundo said, watching Nina as she seemed to be laughing to herself over something. "Psht, whatever-- it doesn't matter. Venusaur, let's just get rid of that stupid Rhyhorn already; that way, she can send out one of her next Pokemon and we can beat them down, one by one, and make her start to cry and beat herself up and blah blah blah." His trademark smug grin returned to his face, albeit for only a moment, as he noticed that Nina didn't seem to be paying attention to his ridicule; had she taken Sabrina's advice? he wondered. Shrugging it off, the boy recognized that the time was ripe to attack; "Okay, let's just get rid of this thing. Venusaur, if you please." The boy waved his hand dismissively.

Electing to go back and use what had seemed to work before, Venusaur's vines rose from underneath its flower once again, and they lashed out towards Pookie for the second time; it caused panic within the Spikes Pokemon. Giving him no time to react, Venusaur wrapped his vines all around the body of the frantic Pokemon, and began to lift him up into the air.

Despite a desperate cry of, "Anastasia, try using an Ice Beam attack on the Venusaur!" there was nothing that Sabrina could do other than to watch her Pokemon suffer from the effects of both the Attract status and the ongoing damage from the Fire Spin. Nina, however, was maintaining a perfect calm somehow. She stood there with her eyes shut; it was like she was there, but not there at the same time, as though she had mentally checked out.

Raimundo couldn't help but to laugh a bit. "Whassa matter, Nina? Can't bear to watch the sight of your useless Pokemon being beaten down?"
The girl did not answer. Instead, she remained motionless, keeping her eyes shut and completely tuning out the jeering. It isn't the time, she thought. It isn't the time.

Pookie's feet were now off of the ground as his body was being tightly constricted by Venusaur's twin vines; he attempted to break free by doing his best to squirm about. It yielded no results, however; his head, body, legs, and horn all had the vines squeezing them tightly, and the Pokemon found himself being lifted higher into the air. Panic was setting in more; he didn't like this, not one bit, but he couldn't do anything to make it stop. And why wasn't Nina saying anything to him? Was she sad that she couldn't protect him? Pookie didn't know, but he was starting to feel bad because he couldn't make Nina happy and that he couldn't do what she wanted him to.

"Ugh," Raimundo remarked, "enough of this. Venusaur, if you would."
Venusaur let out a roar of sorts, and stopped raising Pookie into the air; he paused a moment and prepared to slam the Pokemon back into the ground.
Pookie began to let out small whimpering noises, due to his fear. He was sorry that he couldn't make Nina happy-- but, wait. He did something before that Nina seemed to like. Maybe if he tried it again, she'd be happy with him!
It's almost time, Nina thought. Almost...
Venusaur prepared himself to slam the Rhyhorn into the ground, but--

"Pookie, now! Use Horn Drill!"

Letting out a quick bark of acknowledgement, Pookie began spinning the horn on his forehead again, but this time it began to glow a silvery sort of color. It took a second or two to get going, but when it did it nearly instantly broke through the vine that had been constricting it. As a result, Venusaur's grip on Pookie had weakened, causing Pookie to fall to the ground but land on his feet. Instinctively, Venusaur had attempted to retract the other vine that bound Pookie's body due to the pain, but it didn't get far before Pookie intentionally snagged his horn onto it, causing this vine to become wrapped around the horn again, but this time in a different manner. Continuing to spin his horn, Pookie reeled Venusaur towards him as a Fisherman would reel in a Magikarp on his fishing pole; he was met with great resistance, as could be expected. When the time came, however, Venusaur found himself overpowered and being yanked off the ground by its vine towards its adversary; in one swift motion, Pookie jumped towards Venusaur as it was flying through the air towards him, and smashed his horn into the opposing Pokemon's body with nothing less than every ounce of sheer force that he could muster.

The result from that series of events was a single-hit knockout which left Raimundo in a brief state of stunned shock as he recalled his Pokemon and reached for another ball at his belt. He regained his composure a few moments later, and his face twisted into an expression of rage.

"You b***h," he growled. "You'll resent that, I swear you will."

"Will I?" the girl asked, finally opening her eyes and staring at the boy, a dark smile on her face. She held up Pookie's Pokeball, electing to recall him before he incurred any further damage. As she did, she drew another ball from her belt, and held it tightly for a moment. Slowly but surely, her locks of hair began to change to black, while her eyes transformed into a darker shade than their usual blue. Unlike the previous instances when this happened, however, her clothes remained the same colors. The girl tossed the new ball in front of her, releasing Krystal from her confines.

Looking from Raimundo to Krystal and then back again, the darkness faded from the girl's smile. "I suppose I should thank you," she said, "for had the pair of you not been verbally assailing me this whole time, I probably would not have found my center of focus after all."

Kasiya was far too busy trying to get every last drop of gravy out of the little bowl her poutine had come in to notice Mike's crafty research, and she smiled brightly and nodded. "He is pretty awesome, though not very sociable." Twilight's mood had improved a lot since she'd become his trainer, but it was a pretty safe bet that Kasiya was biased toward all of her Pokemon in one way or another. She also couldn't help but think how excited Shocker would be to meet all their new friends, and see some of the other evolutions that had occurred as well. She enjoyed the last few noisy slurps of her milkshake and set the cup down on the tray, smiling up at Mike as he collected both of them and dumped the trash.

"Yeah, let's go!" she said, eagerly linking her hand with Mike's as they began the relatively short trek back to the Pokemon Center. It had only been a little while but she was anxious to see Shocker again and hear what the nurse had to say about her condition. It was nice to be out and about and just doing normal things for a change. They made it back to the center without incident and Kasiya didn't wait for a second before running right up to the front desk. She didn't even get a chance to ask as she was met by the nurse.

"Your Pokemon are all just fine," she said, placing a pair of trays on the counter. "Your Raichu as well," she went on, cutting off the blonde as she'd opened her mouth to speak. "She's a bit tired, and her electricity levels are almost alarmingly low, but it's nothing a good rest can't solve. I wouldn't recommend throwing her into any high-stress battles for the next few days, but she can probably do some light training and exercise without issue." Kasiya opened her mouth to speak again but was cut off for a second time. "She's over by the window, enjoying some juice. And, you're welcome."

As annoying as it was being cut-off before she could say a word, the smile on Kasiya's face was more than enough to express her gratitude. She looked over at the aforementioned window and sure enough, Shocker was sitting on the ledge, sipping apple juice from a little box. She grinned and waved at her trainer, and Kasiya sighed. "Thank you," she said anyway, very nearly leaping across the counter to hug the nurse. "Thank you so much."

"Any time," the nurse replied, taking a few steps back as a precaution. "Oh, that reminds me. While the two of you were out, this came for you." She reached under the desk and took out a Pokeball which she then handed to Kasiya.

The blonde stared at it, almost more than certain that it was Shocker's. "Do you know who sent it?" she asked, feeling the chills creeping up her spine.

The nurse shook her head. "Not exactly? The message that came with it said 'Nice work, Sis' and that's it."

Kasiya nodded meekly and uttered another thank you, turning to look up at Mike as her suspicions were confirmed. "Three guesses as to who sent it, but the first two don't count," she mumbled quietly. Shocker, meanwhile, had finished her juice and tossed away the empty box before making her way over to her trainer, looking up at her with a worried expression.

"It's broken?" Madison asked, standing on tiptoe to look at the PokeDex.

"Guess so," Jake muttered, jamming it into his pocket. "It was brand new, too. I don't understand it." He sighed, and closed his eyes, quickly calming himself before he looked down at the little girl again. "Shall we go look for your friend?" he asked, holding his hand out.

"Yeah, let's go!" she giggled, eagerly accepting the older boy's hand and tugging him along. Figuring that Maddie knew the general area of where her friend went missing, Jake allowed her to lead the way, looking back over his shoulder to make sure Sigilyph was following. The Avianoid Pokemon's expression was impossible to read as it drifted along, its winglike appendages slowly flapping back and forth.

"So, where are we going?" Jake asked as they went off the main trail and onto a smaller one, one which Jake would never have noticed on his own.

"To my house," Maddie answered instantly. "Sparky would always go back home when we got separated."

Jake murmured some sort of agreement and continued to let the girl lead them, an explicable feeling of dread growing stronger and stronger as they moved deeper into the forest. He wasn't sure how much time had passed now, but before too long, they stepped into a large clearing where a magnificent mansion stood in the middle.

At least, it would have been magnificent if years and years of neglect and the elements hadn't gotten to it. Jake could imagine in his mind's eye what the place had looked like in its prime and he couldn't help but stare at it. Was it abandoned? Did anybody own it? He wagered it would sure cost a lot to fix it all up again, but it would probably be worth it. "Wow," was all he managed after a moment or two of gawking, and he remembered his company. "Do you... do you actually live there?" he asked the girl.

Madison nodded. "All my life!" She let go of Jake's hand and rushed off toward the mansion, giggling the entire time.

Jake, meanwhile, exchanged glances with Sigilyph. "I dunno about you, but I have a very bad feeling about this..."

Karrigan leaned back in her seat, carefully shifting the Cubchoo's weight on her lap as they awaited the start of the next battle. It seemed like almost all of the trainers had found their way here and there wasn't a shortage of anyone wanting to go next, and Karrigan readied her PokeDex as the next two trainers squared off - a boy with large, round glasses and a girl with short-cropped black hair. The boy released a turtle-like Pokemon, and Karrigan was sure it evolved from Squirtle even if she couldn't recall its name. Her PokeDex gave her an answer, however - it was a Wartortle, and she had to look up the Pokemon sent out by the girl - a Combusken. "Water-type versus Fire/Fighting-type," she murmured to herself, wondering why the girl had chosen to give herself a disadvantage.

The boy and his Wartortle began with a bang, with the Water-type quickly shooting off a Water Gun at the Fighting-type. Combusken quickly made sure that everyone watching was aware of just how fast and agile it was as it easily got out of the way, its beak curved into a sort of smirk as it eyed its opponent. Karrigan raised an eyebrow, watching intently as the Wartortle then unleashed a string of Bubbles. The Combusken and its trainer still didn't look worried, and they had reason to be as the trainer then called out for a Sunny Day. Instantly the sunlight shining down on them all became harsher, and Karrigan quickly noticed how uncomfortable the little Ice-type on her lap became. "It's okay, Naga," she said, moving the Cubchoo so that she was shaded. "It'll only last for a little while." Needless to say, the bright, hot sun weakened the Bubble attack and the Fighting-type was quick to shift to the offensive, running in and pounding the Turtle Pokemon with a solid pair of kicks to the chest.

The sun was still high in the sky as the couple made their way to the Pokemon center, happily making small talk as they walked. Most of their conversation centered around the upcoming gym battle, and the topic of Kasiya's new captures. Mike could hear the birds in the distance chirping, and noted how differently they sounded from the ones back home. Before they walked into the center, he paused to look at the scene around him. Calm, tranquil. It was in stark contrast to everything that had been going on lately. His mind had a tough time dealing with such...normality, even if it had only been a few hours of it so far.

The automatic doors opened with a soft whir. Mike smiled as Kasiya basically sprinted to the front desk to ask about Shocker before being verbally bested by the ever-professional Nurse Joy. Her caring nature was one of his favorite qualities. He walked up behind the girl as she leaned over and gave the nurse a big hug, giving her a knowing smile. Mike's brow stiffened for a moment when Joy produced a Pokeball for Kasiya, even more so when she mentioned the message that came with it. "I don't need any guesses to know where that comes from." Mike replied, suddenly wondering if Mai was still around. He waited until Kasiya had turned to face Shocker before looking over his shoulder, glaring at the empty space behind him, all but daring anyone who might be lurking to jump out and face him.

Shaking the thought from his head, Mike approached the counter, holding his hands up to show that he wouldn't be as dramatic as his girlfriend.

"Your Pokemon are all set, as well." Nurse Joy said with her family's trademark smile, handing him the tray. "They are so well behaved." she exclaimed. "Your Charizard is more like a Growlithe than a dragon, and I have never had a conversation with a Breloom before!" Mike smiled at the thought of Portabello making small talk with the nurse. "Telepathy in that species is very rare." she added,

"Really?" Mike asked, clipping the Pokeballs to his new bag strap, holding out Portabello's in front of him. He had never run into any other Breloom before or after capturing his, so he just assumed they were all like that.

"Yes, I looked it up after I treated him." she continued. "One in a thousand, they say. Very special, that one."

"Oh, you don't need to tell me twice!" Mike said with a chuckle. "Portabello is the best capture I've made. Give that Pokemon a license and he would probably make it to the League in less than a season." They laughed. "And before you mention it, I know my Ampharos is 'special', too." He clipped P.B.'s Ultra ball into place.

"He's a darling." replied the nurse, her tone indicating she had no intention of bringing up Beacon's 'uniqueness'. "All I had to do was hold his, erm, hand? And he was wonderful." Mike smiled.

"Yeah, he likes that." he said with a warm smile as he imagined what that scene looked like. It probably didn't hurt that the Pokemon center nurses were all so lovely. "Thanks for taking such good care of them." he said, looking over at Shocker. "That poor Raichu has been through a lot. We're glad to see her back." Not wanting to pry, the nurse simply smiled and took the empty tray into the back, waving one last time before disappearing. Mike mulled over changing up his team, but decided against it. He still needed Nitro to fly, Titanium, Xanthos, Beacon and maybe Napalm for the gym battle, and he was still not comfortable taking Portabello out of the rotation just yet. He walked over to rejoin Kasiya and Shocker. "You look good!" the boy said with a smile, leaning down and scratching the mouse behind her pointy ears.

Phoenix tilted her head, staring curiously at Nina's new appearence. "Well, this is interesting," she commented matter-of-factly. "Does this happen very often?"
"No," Raimundo replied, studying the girl as well. "I know it happened once when she thought Sabrina had died, and then Maorde told me she did it again when she fell under his influence, but..."
"But whenever this happens, people get hurt," Nina finished. "Badly."
Phoenix smirked a little, not taking the girl particularly seriously. "So, what-- are you going to kill us or something? Torture us within an inch of our lives?"
"That's not really on my agenda today, so you don't need to worry. No-- you see, the other two instances when I've transformed into this state have been under rather extreme circumstances. The first case was when I witnessed my sister allegedly dying, and I found myself overcome by nothing short of sheer rage and a desire for vengeance upon the Rocket who had-- supposedly-- killed her; the second time, Maorde filled my rather unstable mind with a horde of lies and his own influence. Before I knew it, I found myself succumbing to a desire for bloodlust a second time."
"Ah, so you worked with him for a time as well? Tell me, was every moment as incredible as you thought it would be?"
"Hardly. That's your wet dream, Phoenix-- not mine. I had a slight wish to appease him, but that was only due to the fact that I was under his manipulation."
"So, you're basically only able to tap into this power whenever someone sends you off the deep end."
"Previously, yes-- but not now. While the pair of you have been unrelenting in your attempt to crack my stability, I am not standing here as I am now solely for that reason; both Anna and Sabrina provided me with helpful words of advice to keep my feet planted firmly and to overcome my weakness that you've been attempting to exploit. As a result, I've been able to tap into the powers within myself that I only seem to come across when I become slightly... well, crazy."
"And what powers would those be?"
"Confidence. Wisdom. Courage, strength, calmness. I can now harness those things which I lack without any of the homicidal drawbacks."
Raimundo laughed at the girl's remarks. "Whatever, loony. It looks like you're the one doing all the big talking now, so why don't we see if you're really as changed as you claim to be." With a flick of his wrist, the boy released his Kingdra, Typhoon, unto the field to replace his Venusaur.

Nina looked to the familiar Pokemon; it exuded an energy of greater strength since she had seen it last, but she remained entirely composed, and actually smiled a little bit. "Now, that's a face I couldn't forget. I do hope that you've been training him properly, Rai, and now just pumping him full of Rare Candies in a hapless attempt to make him stronger."
"Underestimating me again, I see. Well, I guess I'll just have to prove you wrong, then. Typhoon, let's take care of that Dragonair quickly-- use a Dragon Pulse!"

Typhoon eyed Krystal for a moment; it was true that they had met during the period of time that Nina and Raimundo had traveled together, but this was a battle and he was going to do as he was instructed. Beginning to flap his dorsal fin at a quick rate, the Pokemon took a deep breath inward, and it wasn't long after that he shot forth a bluish-white ball of energy which was of an insurmountable size; it would be impossible for Krystal to dodge it.

Regardless of this fact, Typhoon noticed that Nina had her eyes shut once again, and didn't budge; she did nothing more than remain perfectly silent. It's not the time, Krystal. Hold your ground... and wait.

Keep waiting...

Not yet. Almost...

"Krystal, now! Dragon Rush!"

Letting out a loud coo! that seemed to fill the air entirely, Krystal rocketed directly toward the Dragon Pulse attack; she passed her entire body through it, sustaining some damage in the process, but as she escaped it, she found Typhoon immediately in her sights. In a matter of moments, she crashed into the opposing Dragon Pokemon with the full force of her body weight, knocking him backward a distance. Without a moment's hesitation, Krystal twisted and contorted her body so that she reversed directions, finding herself heading back towards her Trainer.

"Oh, no, you don't! Ninetales, use Extrasensory!"

Wasting no time and wanting to strike while the metaphorical iron was hot, Ninetales' eyes began to glow gold as she stared down the retreating figure of the Dragonair; within perhaps a second, the fox opened her mouth and blasted a rainbow-colored beam at her adversary, confident that it would find its mark. The beam drew closer to Krystal, and it would be certain to leave her with an impressive wound--

"Anastasia, use Psychic! Do what you must to protect Krystal!"
With a quick nod, Anastasia seemed to grin a little-- she was no longer under the Attract condition; it was unfortunate, however, that she wasn't free from the Fire Spin, and she knew that this attack would be her swan song, so she had to make it count. Closing her eyes and extending her arms out in front of her, palms opened, the Pokemon concentrated and pictured the beam of energy in her mind as it chased down her partner. The locks of her hair began fluttering and waving in a breeze that she seemed to be manifesting, and it wasn't long proceeding that in which the Jynx opened her eyes and quickly affixed her sights on Ninetales. Anastasia waved her extended arms; the left one waved clockwise, while the right waved counter-clockwise, and this resulted in the Extrasensory attack coming to a screeching halt, allowing Krystal her escape. Anastasia followed this up by withdrawing her arms close to her body, before thrusting them out again, causing the rainbow-colored beam of energy to blast off towards the source from whence it came. Not giving the Ninetales time enough to react due to the speed at which the beam was traveling, it struck her straight in the chest, knocking her backward where she lay motionless on her side. After completing her attack, Anastasia found herself succumbing to the lingering damage of the Fire Spin attack.

Sabrina recalled her valiant amazon, taking a new Pokeball from her belt. For the first time since Nina had debuted her new-- or old, as it were-- appearance, the elder psychic turned to her, wearing a soft smile on her face. "I know nothing of this dark side of you, Nina, beyond what you have told me, but I want to congratulate you for being able to find a way to harness its positive aspects whilst banishing the negative ones."
Nina smiled in return, a bit of her hair flickering from black to its usual light blue, and then back again. "Thank you, Sabrina. I still have a lot of work to do, however."

Phoenix grit her teeth in anger as she recalled her Ninetales and snatched a new Pokeball. "I've had just about enough of you two!" she hollered, throwing her new Pokeball onto the field. With a loud and angry bark, Phoenix's Houndoom stood before her adversaries, taking her place by Typhoon, snarling lowly.
"No more games; this ends now. Sabrina, release your Pokemon and let's finish this."
The girl shrugged. "Well then, if you insist." With a light toss, Sabrina's replacement for Anastasia burst from his Pokeball and found himself staring down his opponents. Oracle stood relatively motionless, surveying his surroundings, before greeting Krystal.

"Madame," he said with a slight nod, "it will be a pleasure to work by your side today."

"Pewter Gym, eh? I'm sure Brock will love a pretty challenger like you," Ian said, smirking a little. "I battled him a while ago, he's no chump, I'll give him that. I'm actually going through Pewter, and down through the forest to Viridian City. I've got family there," he explained as the two trainers had started to walk through the cavern. "If you want, I'll keep you company along the way. Protect you and all that romantic heroic crap."

At that, Riza laughed out loud. "Don't flatter yourself, I'm fully capable of taking care of myself," she said before she could stop herself, and she forced a laugh as though to show she were joking around. "Maybe I should be the one protecting you."

Riza's comment caught Ian by surprise but he laughed anyway. "Yeah, I guess I deserved that. How about we just agree to watch each other's backs, then?"

The raven haired girl smiled. "Yeah, I can agree to that," she said as the two set off deeper into Mount Moon. As expected it was somewhat dark and very quiet, with only the distant screech of Zubat off in the distance. Riza carefully watched where she walked, using the flashlight app on her phone to help guide her way. Now that she knew better she had been able to dodge two Geodude and their attempts to trip her. She kept thinking about Selena and how she should be working with the Snivy against some of these rock Pokemon, but knowing that the grass-type had no actual moves that could damage them yet made that tricky and she gave a sigh.

"What's wrong?" Ian asked, having noticed Riza's sighing.

"My newest Pokemon," she said after a moment or so. "I really need to start training her, but I'm at a bit of a loss on how to do that."

Ian thought for a moment. "I have a pretty young Pokemon traveling with me. We could let them battle each other, for practice, if you'd like."

Riza smiled at the boy. "Really. That sounds like a good idea, actually," she said, nodding. "Yeah, let's try that." She took Selena's poke ball from her belt and enlarged it. "Thanks, Ian, I appreciate this."

Ian grinned, obviously happy to be getting on Riza's good side. "No problem," he said, holding up a poke ball of his own.

"Ack! Kord! Get out of there!" Katie yelled, panicking a little upon seeing her Pokemon disappear beneath the pink Chansey. Kord's cries were quite muffled and even though the scene was quite funny, the Elekid didn't seem to think so. There was a flash and a surge as Kord released a Thundershock to retaliate, and the Chansey gave a cry and promptly removed itself from the Elekid. It was a resilient Pokemon yes but that electricity had hit it fully, and the Egg Pokemon looked rather uncomfortable as she turned to face the Elekid. "Perhaps we should keep our distance then," Katie murmured, nodding toward the Chansey. "Kord, hit 'em with your Thundershock again!"

The Elekid spun his arms again, sending yet another volley of electricity flying toward his target. Seriously, he could do this all day! The electric-type grinned as the attack hit head on and the Chansey staggered back, static crackling over her body. It looked as though the last attack had paralyzed her. "Use Refresh again, Chansey!" Thea called, wanting to get rid of the paralysis as fast as possible. The only problem this time, however, was that the Chansey's body had seized up and she was unable to move, leaving her wide open to attack.

"Kord, use Electro Ball!" Katie shouted, punching the air. Kord gave a cry and held out his hands, an orb of electricity forming between them. It quickly grew larger and he then hurled it at the paralyzed Chansey, and both he and his orange haired trainer watched with satisfaction as it hit its target. Even with Chansey's high special defense the attack still did a lot of damage. Katie grinned. They had this battle, she just knew it!

"My, my-- there's the Pokemon I'd been waiting to see," Phoenix commented, sizing up Sabrina's Alakazam. "I'm afraid you're at quite a strong disadvantage though; you see, Cerberus here isn't a pushover by any means."
"I look forward to the challenge," Sabrina remarked, more than confident in her own Pokemon's abilities.
Nina studied the Houndoom carefully, assessing the situation; Oracle was at a huge disadvantage right from the get-go, but she didn't doubt that her sister had a trick or two up her sleeve. For the time being, however, she would have to do what she could to ensure Oracle's protection, as a single Crunch from the Dark-type would be more than powerful enough to knock him out.
"Well, that's great and all, but I'm not very impressed," Raimundo quipped. He eyed the Alakazam for a moment, but dismissed it; "Phoenix, I'll leave him to you; Cerberus is more than capable enough to take care of it." He cracked his neck a little, his trademark smug grin returning to his playful lips, and his attention shifted to Krystal. "You're what interests me more, little Dragonair; I take care of you, and one of your Trainer's greatest Pokemon will be down for the count-- that'd just be awful, now wouldn't it?" He looked to Nina and winked, sneering. "Typhoon, let's try a new approach-- use Focus Energy!"

Acknowledging his Trainer's command, Typhoon hovered in the air, closing its eyes for a moment and concentrating; not long afterwards, his body became surrounded in a blue aura of energy, and when his eyes reopened, his strength had been somewhat amplified, though not directly. Typhoon knew, however, that it would be a mere matter of time before that newfound strength would have an opportunity to present itself.

Phoenix raised an eyebrow at Raimundo's choice of move, but did not comment on it; instead, she looked to her Houndoom and then to Oracle, her holier-than-thou grin appearing. "I suppose I don't even need to tell you what I'd like for you to do, my dear Cerberus," she said to the canine. "Let us commence the attack and be done with it."

Barking quickly and seeming to nod, the Houndoom bum-rushed a motionless Oracle, baring its teeth and gnashing them as it ran, simultaneously and unintentionally kicking dirt behind it in its wake. It leapt forward, opening its jowls wide and preparing to sink its teeth into the body of its adversary. What it got instead, however, was far less than what it was expecting, or what it would have desired.

"Oracle, blast him with a Hyper Beam!"

Having been watching the Houndoom from the beginning of its pursuit, Oracle waited until the time was right to ensure its attack would not miss. As it watched its adversary leap through the air, Oracle crossed its spoons in front of its face, summoning an orange ball of energy in the process; the ball converted itself into a laser beam of sorts, which fired directly at the Houndoom's face, the impact of which blasted the Pokemon back through the air. This seemed to be becoming commonplace, but the difference between this instance was that Cerberus found himself not merely launched back a few feet to his Trainer, oh no-- this time, Sabrina's opposition found himself being shot aerially backwards into a sort of arc, the height of which cleared even the tallest of trees within the Viridian Forest. The distance the Pokemon traveled was impressive as well; Oracle couldn't gauge it, but he surmised that it was a very distinct possibility the Houndoom could have been shot out of the forest entirely.

There was little that Phoenix could do, other than to watch helplessly as her Pokemon flew through the air. The girl let out a horrible scream-- whether it was of anger, shock, or somewhere in between was anyone's guess-- before she took off running in the direction that her Pokemon had gone.

Sabrina watched the ginger-haired girl run off, and she blinked a couple of times. "Hm," she said, "I believe she could have handled that situation a tad better."

Raimundo stood in a stunned silence for a moment, before he found himself overcome with nothing short of fury. "Harlot!" he shouted savagely to the elder girl, balling his fists up tightly enough that the veins on his hands could be seen visibly throbbing. "Don't you dare think this match is anywhere near over! I'll take the both of you on myself, and don't you even think that I won't be able to!"
"My, my, Rai-- all of this shouting will wreak havoc on your blood pressure," Nina replied, Krystal idly flying around near her, making some funny noises in the process. "Why, if that happens, then that'll be one more thing you'll have to take care of, and it could potentially have adverse effects on your battling skills because that's one more thing that'll always be on your mind, and then it'll be horrible. You'll be horrible, and a hot mess. You'll be a horrible, hot mess." She paused. "Well, a horrible mess, anyway."
"Shut the hell up!" he screeched, the veins in his neck rising to prominence.
"Now, that is no way to speak to your superiors," Sabrina replied.
It seemed as though Raimundo were but a moment away from quite literally bursting a blood vessel. "You shut your mouth," he said, his lips quivering in rage. "And you," he said, turning to look at Nina, "you shut up too, and get on with this fight. Make your attack."
"I don't need to make an attack," the girl said simply.
Krystal continued flying around near Nina, cooing, and making an assortment of other similar noises.
"Charity will do nothing to help you! I said make your attack!"
Nina found herself laughing. "I never said anything about providing charity! All I said was that I wasn't going to attack you."
"Oh yeah? And why the hell would that be?
"Because," she began, "I have something far more entertaining in mind." The girl looked to Krystal.

The Dragonair had been enjoying her flight through the air, but she understood what Nina meant when those last words left her lips. Returning to the ground near her Trainer, she noticed Nina's eyes had begun glowing somewhat; Krystal understood this as well, and it was not long before the dragon's own eyes began to glow. Coiling herself up onto the ground, Krystal eyed Raimundo very carefully, her head-wings flapping cautiously. She remained motionless otherwise for a short time, occasionally opening her mouth to coo once or twice-- but then, without warning, Krystal rocketed straight up into the sky and beyond the clouds, and was out of sight in mere moments. No sooner had Krystal bypassed the clouds was there an explosion of pure, blinding white light which stretched all the way down to the earth, and an extravagantly loud cooooo! followed immediately. However, this one sounded different than Krystal's typical noises; its tone sounded a bit deeper than usual, and slightly longer.

The white light faded after a few seconds, and silence proceeded. One further thing followed; a somewhat large creature began descending from the clouds, slowly coming into vision. Few of its features could be initially discerned, but as it lowered, it became more clear to see: It had two arms, two legs, a large tail, a pair of antennae, a brown body with a white belly which had stripes on it that ran from under its chin to the length of the underside of its tail, and a pair of decent-sized wings. Before Nina, Sabrina, Oracle, Raimundo, and Typhoon stood Krystal, a newly-evolved Dragonite.

'Please be Ditto, please be Ditto, please be Ditto,' was Jasper's mantra as he groped for another Pokeball, making another mental note to pick up a proper belt for the things. He gave the sphere a toss and from it came an energetic little creature, blue in colour, but it was not the Terrific Transformer that Jasper had been hoping for. Instead, Totodile materialized in front of them, looking around a bit curiously at first, but she quickly jumped back when the rather large Arbok gave another raspy, menacing hiss. The gator eyed her new opponent carefully, chancing a glance over her shoulder at Jasper and she quickly spotted Zorua in her trainer's arms - she looked hurt! Had that horrible purple snake done that? Totodile let out an enraged snarl and glared back at the Arbok; oh, it was on! That thing was gonna pay!

The Arbok wasn't overly impressed with its new, little-but-big-mouthed opponent and it lunged suddenly, attempting to sink its fangs into the gator for a Bite attack. "Dragon Dance!" Jasper hollered, scooting back as he continued to clutch Zorua to his chest. Totodile began to move in a rhythmic fashion as she drew from her inner power, finding it quite easy to evade Arbok's attack. "Keep it up," the green-clad boy called, feeling a bit better now that the serpent's attention was completely focused on the gator. He used the opportunity to check on Zorua, glad to see that she didn't appear to be hurt; if anything she was just shaken up. The little fox's eyes were squeezed shut and she shuddered a bit. "It's okay, Totodile's got this," he said, looking up in time to see the now-super-speedy gator dance out of the way of a spray of Poison Sting: had that been two Dragon Dances, or three, Jasper had lost count.

"Fight back with Water Gun!" Jasper called, his sudden yell causing the dark type in his arms to jump a little. Zorua opened her eyes and looked over at her teammate, making a sort of yipping sound as she and Jasper watched Totodile turn the hose on Arbok. The serpent did not enjoy being blasted in the face with cold water and it threw its head back and forth, shrieking angrily. Its mouth gaped open and it spat out a putrid liquid at Totodile, this one in such a wide spread that the gator couldn't dodge it. She let out a cry and tried to shake it off, prompting Jasper to remember his recently-acquired Pokedex and he yanked it out of his pocket, shifting Zorua's weight around as he fumbled to point the device at the snake. "Arbok, Cobra Pokemon. Poison type. Angry. Scary. Big," he murmured as he read, now scanning the moves as it once again tried to take a chunk out of Totodile. "That must have been Acid." He looked up at Totodile, feeling oddly confident and he snapped the device shut. "Bite it right back!" he shouted, deciding that he'd had enough of cowering back here like some sort of... coward.

Hayley had jumped to her feet the moment she realized what Ivy had snared in her vines, sketchbook still clutched firmly in her hands. The two Pokemon had squared off on the ground, their eyes deadlocked as they seemingly dared the other to make the first move. The pair of Caterpie were huddled under one of the Oran Berry bushes, having been frightened by the sudden blast of electricity from the Pikachu. Tiss and Mya stood nearby, both watching with keen interest. Cynder had stationed himself beside Hayley, more or less as a precautionary measure lest a stray Thundershock come hurtling her way - that sort of luck was definitely not uncommon for the brunette. The Charmander wasn't sure which Pokemon he'd be rooting for, as so far he wasn't all that fond of the haughty little Snivy.

The Pikachu's grin was almost smug as she turned and began to waggle her butt, now openly taunting the Snivy. The grass type's normally-calm disposition was shattered and in the blink of an eye, she'd snapped the irritating yellow rodent with a slender, green vine, prompting a rather acrimonious "PIKA!" from the mouse (very loosely translated as "I can't believe you did that!"). Ivy's response was a smug scoff, but in retrospect she never should have taken her eyes off the mouse as the moment she looked away, the Pikachu launched a sneak attack of her own, hitting the Snivy with a well-aimed Thundershock. The grass type, of course, resisted electric type moves but neither of them seemed to notice as their little squabble was quickly escalating into a full-blown brawl.

"HEY!" Hayley shrieked, waving her sketchbook around like some sort of flag. "YOU TWO STOP THAT RIGHT NOW! NO MORE FIGHTING!" The two Pokemon were oblivious to the human as they closed the distance between them, now flailing their arms and tails and limbs at each other, all rules of a normal Pokemon battle all but thrown out the window. Hayley's cries fell on deaf ears and she looked to Cynder. "Um, a little help?"

"Don't look at me like that," Kasiya sighed, kneeling down to rub the Raichu's cheeks as Mike went about retrieving his Pokemon. "I'm fine. Especially now that I've got you back. Everything is perfect." She looked up as Mike finished retrieving his Pokemon from the nurse. "Yeah, perfect." Shocker gave a squeal of delight and eagerly accepted the attention from Mike, making it quite apparent that she still adored the human boy as she tried to grab his hand so that she could cling to him. Kasiya stood up, and shot the mouse a playful look. "Now look, you. Back off, he's mine." She started to head over to the PC bay with the intent of moving around her Pokemon - after all, she still wanted Mike to meet the newer members of her team - but not before she brushed up against him and gave his butt a bit of a pinch while he was still leaning over, giggling to herself as she planned out what Pokemon to move.

She had a vague idea of which six she wanted to take to the Mossdeep Gym with her, as she'd decided that Shocker and Ariel would have permanent places on her team, at least for the next while. She'd take her three Dark-types - Adamantine, Casimir and Twilight - and her Meganium, but first, she had other plans. She was still smiling to herself as she dragged and dropped the cute little icons of her party members, quietly promising them that they'd get a chance to be part of her party again soon enough. With that done she left the computer and practically skipped back over to Mike and Shocker, her grin still impossibly wide. No one could deny that Kasiya absolutely adored her Pokemon.

"Okay, I know you've met this one before, but you haven't seen her in a while so..." She allowed for a moment of dramatic pause before she released Nova, much to the sleepy-Charmeleon's surprise. Shocker gave a cry of delight upon seeing the Fire-type, as she'd been a puny, newborn shrimp of a Charmander the last time she'd seen her. Nova, on the other hand, studied the Raichu for a moment but then it clicked - she hadn't seen the mouse in quite some time. Deciding her company was friendly, Nova flashed a toothy grin and gave a wave.

"Next up is Alphonse! He's a bit... uh... stubborn, but he has a lot of heart." The Piplup appeared in a flash of light and almost immediately turned his sights on Nova, puffing out his chest in an attempt to look tough. Nova scoffed at the little Penguin Pokemon, snorting out a small puff of smoke into his face to show that she really didn't care. Shocker wasn't too sure what to think of this one, mostly because the Water-type hadn't even noticed her.

"And here we have Ariados. I'm gonna give her a name, but I'm not sure what yet." She took a breath to continue but stopped, having been about to divulge how she'd caught a Muk while she and Keegan had went to check out the old burned-down mansion on Cinnabar Island the night before they left for the Magma assault, but promptly stopped herself as the subject of the redhead was probably still a bit of a sore one for both of them. "I caught a Muk and ended up trading him for her. She's not very friendly. Yet." True to her new trainer's words, Ariados hissed angrily the moment she was out of her Pokeball, and Kasiya had recalled her only seconds later. "Yeah, definitely going with a 'not friendly yet' on that one."

Alphonse was continually trying to provoke Nova who in turn was continually ignoring the Piplup's existence, though Kasiya hadn't noticed as she was busy introducing the next member of her team. She gave a quick little explanation as to how she'd met Calliope the Tropius by defending her from the late-to-the-party Magma grunts and the trade she'd made with Karrigan as she released Zaira. Kasiya had expected the Shinx to be very shy and nervous around so many new faces but she was as excitable as ever, running circles around the area and generating flashes of light from her legs with each step. Eventually she calmed down enough to notice the other Electric-type in the room and sidled on up to the Raichu where she plunked herself down as though they were the bestest of friends. Shocker didn't mind too much, however, as she was always happy to meet a fellow Electric-type.

"This last Pokemon's probably the coolest," Kasiya said, giggling as she held up the shiny Luxury Ball. "Her name is Pepper and she's the cutest Pokemon ever!" Ignoring the sort of annoyed looks she received from most of her other Pokemon, she released the Minccino, and unlike most of the others, Pepper quickly adopted the 'oh god, help they're going to eat me' look before diving behind Kasiya's legs. "It's okay," Kasiya said gently, managing to get the Chinchilla Pokemon out of hiding and scoop her up into her arms. "Oh, Mike! It's the coolest thing! Pepper's egg came to me in exactly the same way that Pumpkin's did to you!"

Almost immediately, she felt that sort of guilty-jolt shoot through her, and even though she maintained her smile, the realization of what she'd said made her stomach feel as though she'd swallowed a Geodude. Oh, crap. Oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap, she thought, remembering that Mike was convinced that Keegan had given him the Litwick, and that Karen had made them all solemnly promise that they'd never tell him other wise. Fearful that her smile might break, Kasiya forced a small laugh. "Isn't that just... the coolest?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 12, 2013 4:51 pm

Mike flashed an apologetic smile to the ever-adoring Raichu as her advances were soundly snubbed by her trainer. "It's tru-ooh!" he yelped, straightening up reflexively as his bottom was flirtatiously grabbed by the very same girl. He couldn't help but smile as Kasiya walked away. Oh if only they were alone, he thought, turning back to give Shocker some more attention. In no time at all Kasiya was back, and released Nitro's little sister, Nova, who had since evolved into a healthy looking Charmeleon. In that moment, Mike found himself hit with the memories of when his Pokemon was that little. It seemed like years ago. Nitro: the aspiring-dragon-to-be with so much to prove. He recalled the silly Pokemon hijacking his PokeNav to 'talk' to Kasiya, his competition with Portabello over who was stronger, and the time when he eagerly flaunted his wing stubs just before he evolved. Nova was young; her back was still smooth. Mike wore a distant, nostalgic look as he watched Nova move about, and found it difficult to say much of anything other than. "She looks great." His tone was little more than that of a whisper.

The next Pokemon Mike only remembered from Professor Rowan's lecture at the Beach Party. Piplet? Puplip? Regardless, the little critter's bravado was cute, and something told him in no time at all, Nova would regret her apathy towards the little water type. Kasiya's Ariados sent a chill up his spine. There was just something so...hateful about it. "Someone's grouchy." Mike said through the side of his mouth. Mike brightened up at the mention of the Tropius. He had always liked that Pokemon ever since he met Winona's years ago. "Those are very rare, you're lucky!" he beamed, his smile fading when she said she traded it away. The next two Pokemon Kasiya released, including the one she traded the Tropius away for, were just so perfectly her that Mike could only grin. A cute little electric cat and a fluffy mouse? Definitely her type of Pokemon.

"Oh no way!" Mike said, matching Kasiya's excited tone. "Keegan gave you an egg, too? That was so nice of him." he voice trailed off a bit. "Man, my mom tells me that breeding center used to be little more than a garage. It's so great to see they've become so successful!" He was, of course, oblivious to the true meaning behind the girl's words. "What's with that funny face?" he said, laughing at the blonde's cracked smile. "Cutie." he leaned in and gave her a kiss on the nose. "No Umbreon yet?" he asked moving on. "Oh, and I have to ask. What's with the Flygon? That line takes a long time to evolve, and last I knew you never caught a Trapinch. You trade for him?"

Bishop had barely made it past the first few pages of the paper before the train slowed to a halt, the intercom announcing that they had arrived at their destination. "My that was quick." said the old man. The speed of modern transportation continued to impress him. He took one final look at the front page before folding it in half. It depicted the mugshot of the infamous leader of Team Magma, Maxie, and a summary of the events that lead to his capture. "(Good riddance.)" he muttered under his breath. "(Took them long enough.)"

"(Took who long enough?)" Sasha murmured, stirring awake.

"(Oh, nothing, miss. Just that they captured that wretched man responsible for the Lilycove tragedy four years back. They say a group of young children, including one of the Gym Leaders of Hoenn went in and tore the place up.)" Sasha's eyes sprang open.

"(Yeah?)" she said, clearing her throat and straightening her tie. She studied Bishop's face for a moment. When he knew she had done something he always had this look about him. His lips were always pursed ever so slightly that his beard stuck out in the front. Thankfully, his beard lay flat on his face, so she was safe. "(Sounds like a typical 'young and stupid' thing to do.)" Sasha replied, shrugging. Bishop chuckled.

"(Perhaps.)" he said. "(But sometimes young and stupid works.)" Sasha smiled. No way was she about to tell him just how young and stupid she had been lately. "(Turns out the leader of the group was that young man who attacked those people last week in Slateport, Mike Kyooka was it?)"

"(Kyoka.)" Sasha corrected, slamming her eyes shut immediately afterwards.

"(Ah yes. Foreign names, sometimes so easy to mispronounce.)"

"(Anyway!)" Sasha spoke up, deflecting the current topic out the now open door. "(First thing is first. To the mall!)" Sasha swung her arm dramatically, pointing towards he tall building barely visible through the train window.

"(As you wish, miss.)" Bishop said with a bow. He was glad to see she was eager to change out of those rags, but a small part of him worried she would find something even more...distasteful to wear.
