Bast followed Howaido, but deliberately stayed roughly a meter behind him. The golems followed, bringing up the rear, while their creator pondered a few things. She had received a radio report that there was something going on at their destination, and she was feeling rather anxious about her plan. Howaido and her golems were there essentially to guard her while she prepared her anti-automaton plan.

Jae almost growled in her response, wishing with all her might that she stayed in the village chasing cats. It was way to stifling here but she did agree with the man. It certainly was different. It wasnt as aesthetically beautiful as Yukigakure but it still had its charms. "Y-yeah. It's something alright." Jae untied her headband from around her thigh and quickly tied it around her arm. It would do her no good to draw unwarranted attention so far away from home. Especially in a foreign place with foreign customs. This being her first mission on her own to a village on her own she was a little bit at a loss of what to do. Was she supposed to call on someone. Looking up at the ramen owner, she silently questioned him, the old man smiling at her while he shrugged his shoulders. "Erm...Excuse me? I'm Jae Ketsueki, Genin from Konoha and this is the Ramen Shop owner from Konoha. I'm here to escort him to speak with the Dango Shop owner." Jae laughed hesitantly at the end, uncomfortable standing there out in the open. She looked around them, scared something might pop out of the heated sand around them.

Giving a small bow, he held out a hand to take her papers, and after inspecting them would announce "Welcome to Sunagakure! Please remember to behave and uphold the dignity of your village for the duration of your stay. Any incidents will be dealt with... harshly. Nonetheless, we welcome you to explore and enjoy the Sunagakure sights!" He turned and signaled the Gate Control, who would creak open the massive gates. Turning back, he added as an afterthought "Make sure you drink a lot of water, temperatures soar to over a 100 around here!" Giving the small bow once more, he would again disappear in a flurry of sand.

The ramen shop owner was the one who heard and nodded his recognition in place of Jae; who was more than eager to enter already. "Isn't it grand? This is your first time here, correct?"He said, hinting for Jae to take the lead once again. She smiled apologetically and began walking forward, entering Sunagakure for the first time in her life.

Meanwhile, Doki, or the otherwise transformed counterpart 'Kimiko' had a better idea of things from a shinobi's sense versus that of a civilian's perspective. If anything, most villages with security installations were guaranteed to have some sort of way of detecting visitors. Which was one of the reasons why she was stalling for someone to come and to discreetly avoid having to mention possible booby traps. After all, they were traveling scholars, passionate in their dedication. "Whew.. I'm getting a little thirsty.. Teppei, give me your flask." She did conserve her supply of water in careful portions but they could only go so far on feet without having to hold onto necessary weight. Well, she did not know too much about Kyo's way of conserving but Doki was remarkably lazy when it came to that. In fact, on the first day, she was already halfway out. And now she was getting crabby. "Well, c'mon already." The Kimiko aspect of her character was also impossibly bossy and spoiled. Most of her childhood was spent robbing her little brother's, vindictive she was and controlling. Thus why he was pronounced and referred to as a ward.
Of course, this was just her way of annoying Kyo in general. But really, it's not like she expected him to offer any room for solace. Just to play along. Being a shinobi, her body was in good condition and she took prudent care as well as precautions. Sweaty, salted with sand, and her hair loosely hanging behind her shoulders underneath her turban. A dramatic moment arose with her other hand ( opposed to the one being held out, impatient for the flask ) when she averted her glasses. The lenses captured the light and her irises were masked by it's unyielding light. "....Ara. Hold back on the flask." This was becoming troublesome. After all the water she consumed, Kimiko felt that irksome tightness filling up her bladder.
"Quick, little brother, do you see any rocks or sinkholes?" This was indeed an unfortunate ephiphany. Fortunately to Kimiko, she was the brazen type, hardly embarrassed over her submissive actions over her bodily function.

Currently under a transformation Justu Teppei just followed, their shepard dog now followed beside him. He took out the flash as she demanded it, but the poor family dog! He looked thirsty, after drinking some water himself, he gave some to Shi who drank a lot of it. Leaving his slobber on the rim of the flask when it was finally handed to his over-bossy sister. "Here you go lovely sister. I suspect the crevice walls are a bit higher than that...maybe 400?" He said it sweetly and a bit shyly, handing her the flask and petting Shi. Oh how lovely it was to be a scholar with his sister, althought he was fairly shy with his sister and never out-spoke to her, he had short white hair and slateblue eyes that snickered as his sister had to go pee. "Over there sister dear." He kept his senses up, his hearing would detect any ANBU that would come near them and his smell had already pinpointed some's location along with his keen eyesight to those on the top disguised by the bright sun.

Inwardly, she grinned. She was glad that he wasn't the type to hold grudges as she was also the same. Plus, he was very convenient to have around as he had heightened senses. "You're a life-saver, Teppei! Oh, Ma and I would cry our tears out if you married away from us!" She sniffled a little to make it any less convincing than it has to be for her personality to convene with his. Heading off to that depicted area, she concluded her business and returned, accepting the flask. During that time, she took in that angle to see any else she's missed at the steeps of the crevice. Hmm.
The cool surface of the brim truly made her day though unbeknownst to Doki, it was the saliva of their dear little dog. "Oh yeah, here, you should give some to Shi. The poor thing, he's probably all parched!" Wiping her mouth off with the ends of her loom, she held out the flask to Kyo for him to carry out the unnecessary task.

Currently under a transformation Justu He covered the top of his eyes as he looked up the crevice a thing some people would do would be to look to something else while still looking a different direction. Teppei was searching the shadowed part of the crevice while pretending to examine the top, when done he looked back down to his sister. "Oh silly sister...I gave our dog some water before you drank from the flask...and I've been examining the height of this architecual spectacular sight!" He dug through his siter's bag, taking the notepad and writing stuff down, he was pretending to write the structure's physical features down when really he jotted positions of ANBU he had spotted down with a picture and circles to point he had watched for only two minutes and made arrows to show where they walked bak and forth too. He handed it back to her and took the flask.
Putting it away, he smiled excitably to the structure. "From my observation, each layer of rock is about 50 meters thick or more, they might be 'flat' on the top or have indetted ditches into them. Surprisnly I don't think it's made of sand but rock. These sand people are amazing!" He petted Shi their family dog, wondering why she spoke of marriage, did it have to be in their little scholar circle to marry so young a man? He was only twelve and their parents were trying to marry him away but not his sister. "We surely must check out the inside of the village sister dear, if their crevice is made of rock then so must be their houses and they must have sculptures of past kages and heros!" He smiled to Doki.

Being trudged upon, a gigantic eye blinked open underneath the two Kumogakure shinobi, sand swirling about to form it. As the shuffling sand blinked once more, a deep gravelly bass of a groan seemed to issue forth from the very ground upon which they stood. As the eye sunk away from view, a non-descript, generic looking body rose up from the heated desert, some safe distance in front of them. "You taste familiar," the Sand Golem of the Desert Itself commented. Elsewhere, a tiny bauble in the Kage's office rung, rolling about its confines.
