"There are training grounds," Throngar told her. "I was there earlier; we need to keep in shape for the Blecks, after all. Non-Warriors can use them too; it's just the contests that we're barred from."

"Pass," Felix replied, rolling her eyes. "I'm an Alchemist; I don't do brawling like mister Lee-Mage here."
"That's Chan-Mage," Throngar rebuked her, then looked back up at Jinx and shrugged. "Sure. I'm not exhausted or anything after all." He got up and led the way. "Let's go."

Jinx smiled and followed the mage to the training grounds. To her surprise, there was only two other people there, training. She thought that there would be more. She walked over to one of the wooden dummies and poked it. A piece of wood came off into her finger. "Owchy," she looked at the tip of her finger.

Throngar rolled his eyes. "We need to toughen you up, missy," he told Jinx dryly. "At the moment, you still look more like a prostitute dressed up as an assassin than an actual assassin." And he said that without having even seen her display earlier... good thing for Jinx Felix had decided not to come with them.
"Oh, you should've seen her earlier," Alcharius suddenly quipped in with the gossip. "Dancing, and not in the lady's manner either! It was quite impressive, actually, I have to say!"
Or maybe Felix wasn't needed after all.

Jinx stuck her tongue out at Throngar and pulled out the splinter in her finger. She took out three throwing and threw them all at the wooden dummy, hitting it in the head. She then looked back at Throngar, "You were saying?"

In response, Throngar suddenly and quickly dashed up to Jinx, delivering first a chop to her midriff in the area of her diaphragm to wind her painfully and then a follow-up blow to her neck to knock her down to the ground in a speedy combo.

Jinx was laying on the ground, "What the ******** was that for?" she caught her breath, but was still on the ground.

"Proving my point," Throngar told her dryly before squatting and extending a hand to help her up. "You may have some skills, and I know you don't tend to fight head on, but you're still far too vulnerable up-close. That's what I meant by needing to toughen you up. I know you elves aren't exactly great on that in the first place, but you need to be more than the majority of your people if you're going to fight Blecks with us." He raised an eyebrow. "Unless you want to die?"

Jinx took up his offer to be helped up. She dusted herself off, "I can take care of myself..If I had my guard up, I could have defended myself." She got her knives out of the dummys head. She looked at Throngar, "I guess I do need some help in melee."

Throngar just rolled his eyes at the first bit, but then gave a tight smile and nod as she agreed to be helped. "Very good. First thing is: always keep your guard up." To demonstrate, he rushed Jinx again, this time delivering low kick to trip her over.

This time Jinx heard him running at her, she moved out of the way, When Throngar extended his foot to trip her, the leg she used to push off the ground with was just barely kicked out from under her. She stumbled, but caught her balance.

"Better," Throngar grunted in qualified approval. "But that still would have been fatal in an actual fight, unless you were extremely lucky." He straightened. "Well, we'll leave that one for now - there's only so many times I can surprise you at once. For now, we'll work on something similar - reflexes." He crouched back down into a combat stance and beckoned. "Come closer, and take a defensive stance."
