I always thought one should practice what they preach.” Malik lowered his head to look the other in the eyes with his cold lavender irises, “If they are your friends, you should call them. If you could only comprehend what it’s like to be all alone in this cold, cruel world, then perhaps you’d realize friends are all to precious to just let go.”

Malik was quite confused by the embrace. Perhaps it was because he wasn't really the 'hugging' sort of guy. And he hardly knew Jounouchi. Of course he didn't mind at all, but it was very odd.
"It's okay. You don't have to apologize to me, any way. I've gotten over it. Besides you really should be saying that to your friends - not me."

"It's not a horrible thing. But, I'm glad I could help you..." Malik was unsure of how, exactly he had helped Jounouchi. But he was happy nonetheless. He wasn't used to being 'right' about things, so this was definitely a first.

The blonde smiled softly and nodded as he looked around at the park. "I've just been pretty preoccupied... My dad ran out on me a few months ago. I worked myself into a hospital bed trying to pay the bills. Lucky for me, my room mate helped me out and invited me to stay with him. I got a job at a dog grooming place but the boss there was a real freak... I left that job last night." He murmured, closing his eyes and running his fingers through his hair. "None of my friends know about what's been going on... I didn't want them to worry."

Akila_Ishtar This irritated Malik beyond belief. How could this guy, who preaches so much about friendship, just let them go like that? And even worse, he had to go and make a big deal about it?! Why not take action and do something about it, rather than whine and moan about the whole ordeal?
"If they are your friends, then shouldn't you be honest with them? I'm sure they'd be happier if you told them the truth." Malik said with a huff, " At least you have friends. You should be happy about that. So quit your whining and do something... before they disappear from your life forever and you end up regretting it." ((>.> ~growing slightly miffed~ Look... Jou isn't whining about it. He's just explaining how he'd grown apart from them. He already said he was going to go after them again))

Malik gave a smile in return, his gaze drifting up to the starry sky above. It was really dark now, and the stars glistened brightly above them. He wondered if Jou had to be back to his roommate soon. And he also wondered who this mysterious person was. Jou had failed to go into detail about it... as if he was hiding something.
He took another sip of his coffee, letting the warm liquid run down his throat, before speaking again. "That's good. I'm sure they'll be glad. And perhaps your life may start to brighten once more."

((Sure, that could be interesting. XD;; Now, I'll just conveniently poof Kaiba in then...))
Kaiba had been taking a quick walk after work as a means to calm down. It had been another less-than-perfect day, so it was helpful to once in a while just be alone and outside. He was quietly wondering to himself why Jounouchi was taking so long to return home, but he decided to attempt to drop the subject in his mind, wanting to avoid anymore stress or annoying thoughts for now. So he just walked, looking up at the evening sky. However, when the CEO turned his head to look ahead of himself instead of up, he noticed Jounouchi standing on the sidewalk. But he was standing with someone else. Actually, he appeared to be hugging that someone else. Well this was just annoying... Kaiba glared slightly as he approached the two, realizing the person Jounouchi was with was none-other than Malik Ishtar. So that guy was here... deciding his reputation was more important than his current anger, Kaiba quickly pulled away his glare and instead just walked passed Jounouchi and Malik, continueing along the path of his original walk without sparring either of them a passing-glance. He was certain Jounouchi would know he was not interested in having Malik know about their relationship or even that the two had learned to tolerate eachother.
