Lucinda could tell that he was forcing his cheerfulness, and it saddened her. She just wished she knew what was going on with him, so she could help him.

Renatus looked down the barely defined roads, looking for some kind of sign for an inn. There were a few right down the street. "There's a few over there." He said to Lucinda pointing towards them.

Lucinda nodded. "Anyone you like better?" she asked as they approached.

"Whichever is warmer." Renatus said smiling. He looked at each, they all looked respectable. "Do you have any opinion?"

"Right." Renatus said. The two of them were so indecisive all the time. They came upon an inn named The Olive Branch. "This one looks pretty good." Renatus said to Lucinda, awaiting approval.

Renatus grasped the door to the inn, and pulled it open. He backed up and held the door open for Lucinda. "After you m'lady." he said bowing slightly.

"Thank you, kind sir," Lucinda replied wth a smile. Then she walked in.

Renatus followed Lucinda into the inn, closing the door behind him. The rustic atmosphere gave Renatus a breath of civility after being attacked, and then in a gambling den. He walked up to Lucinda and asked, "This seem Ok to you?"

"Nonsense." Rentaus replied. "You saw how I did at the roulette table. You will not be imposing." Renatus quickly realized that he was offending Lucinda and began to wish that he could take back all he said.
