Yesterday I had a minor shock when I realized I had won the daily drawing for Frantic Fish over on Gamesville. biggrin True, it is only $25 and I still haven't seen a check, but I am in shock none the less. I have been a member over there since long before Gaia even existed (my profile says 2002, but I am reasonably sure that I actually joined in 1999 and that nobody's profile shows anything older than 2002 since the site didn't track join dates back then) and never won any of the cash prizes before. Honestly, I didn't think anyone really did. I just like bingo. (I mentioned this to my bestie last night and she said my journey to spinsterhood is nearly complete- I just need powder blue hair LOL!) Anyway, so after at least a decade, I'm gonna have to eat my words about real people don't actually win. rolleyes So, if you're on there and haven't won, give it another 13 years xd . Cool fact: that is the website where I first started using this username.

Anyway, today I am cleaning house (I've been using a lot of vinegar and am very impressed how effective it is mrgreen ) and hopefully working in the garden for a bit. The lemon tree has flowers on it this year! I looks like it has recovered well from the freeze and then the drought last year and we will have lemons this year. Another cool fact: real lemonade isn't particularly yellow, and when I sold lemonade for a living most people expected it to be yellow because of all the dye they were used to drinking. My satsuma is full of blooms as well. The roses have been blooming for about three weeks (so early that I didn't get them pruned *sigh*). I also already see buds on two of the amaryllis. So, spring has sprung here and there is much work to do.

SO much garden envy sweatdrop

I'm in the interior of BC, and we got snow this week. I'm starting some seeds anyways, but I don't expect them to end up being planted, they will probably be stunted from the cold. I just miss having plants!
I'm keeping my special seeds I got this year for when they have a chance of making it, at least. And trying to find the warmest place in the house, for when I need it.

@ sunset - what's the brand of the flashlight? That sounds really interesting and something I may want to get my grubby hands on. :3

What fun! I hope your house buying goes well. <3

@ HorsesOfTheNight: I really hope you enjoy it! I went to Dominican Republic and LOVED every moment.

@ dragon_of_emry: Ha! That's awesome. Lemon tree? ;_; +1 more for garden envy!

@ rilsin-b: Where in BC? I'm in Whistler and we got 30cm of snow and it's really cold here. Luckily with the snow I covered up my potted plants again. I don't get enough light here to start seed indoors. Plus, muffin-butt would eat and/or dig them out.

I'm in the okanagan. We got -13 last night >:[
I probably shouldn't be starting things inside either, but I am. I managed to get a cucumber plant to grow about 4 feet with no direct sunlight last year in the winter. It didn't make any flowers but it was still nice greenery.

I actually signed up for a community garden plot and then found a place to rent where I can use some of the garden. I will be garden-overwhelmed soon!

Today is New Baby Mice day heart
A girl nearby had a litter and I am going to go pick out 2 or 3 new little girls to make friends with mine. I'm bracing for trouble though, because I don't think she knows what she is doing, and they seemed too developed for what she had said (her "1 week" picture looked more like "2-2.5 weeks" to me!), and if I am right then they are a week older, which means they could all possibly be pregnant if they weren't split up fast enough.
I'm not even convinced they have been split up at all yet.

I guess we will see when I get there.

Aw, babies - I hope things go well with this breeder.

I just finished up a 3 piece project of a little dress, purse and hat I crocheted for my niece. It's from commercial yarn - I wish I knew a regular supplier for local yarn, all we have left are the big chains.

@ Pirhan: Just says "Weather X" so I don't know who made it---red with black trim. It has am/fm/weather radio, siren, flashlight, strobe light. OH! "a brand of DPI, Inc., St. Louis, Mo. made in China" These showed up in everyone's stockings year before last ninja so we had them for the storms last year. Funny how that happened. Anyway, these came from an Ace/True Value hardware store here. Don't know if you could find one online or not, but they're pretty handy.

heart
Got the cutest little babies!
Turns out only 4 were girls, and she wanted one specific one to stay with her (no wonder, it had a freaking heart on it's head! Seriously!), and I had wanted three, so I didn't get to choose.

As far as I can tell, they are all definitely girls. I'll probably re-check them every day until I stop worrying, but oh well!
Two grey and one black, my pet-life is just so ridiculous, this is now 10 pets total I have had, and every single one has been in greyscale! Not even on purpose at all, just what has happened.
So far they are Jo (josie maybe) and The Twins.

What is this "snow" stuff y'all speak of? xd Us Houstonians are not familiar with this term.

@rislin-b: They sound so cute!

@Hippie: What an accomplishment biggrin

Yes, I missed having lemons last year because the poor tree was in such bad shape. The year before I lost a bunch of the lemons to insects. So, I'm excited to see the tree flowering this year.

Well, it's only 1:47 AM here, so I haven't really made/ bought/ learned/ or done anything just yet. I just can't sleep. Maybe because I haven't put down my laptop yet. eek

(And a double post ninja )

Today I took a couple of garden pictures and updated my thread in the gardening forum a bit. Poor Thread was saying, "Dragon, Dragon, did you forget about me? You never update me!" Alright, Thread, I shall work on you.

I started working out again. I am incredibly sore from Legs & Back. I really does help to have an actual recovery drink instead of just a meal replacement. Lesson learned!

I don't think I answered Teh_Plagues question on what I'm doing for school - Bachelors of Science. It'll take a while I have a really long list of pre requisites to get through. @_@

Went out for a hobble today as I still can't walk. We are sorta looking at buying a house. It's going to be interesting as this is a really expensive place to live and the non expensive places (still 300k+ for a one bedroom) are not really sunny. Plus a lot of places have really expensive ($600+ monthly strata fees). Eeek.

Today I'm building some raised beds for the garden----in the living room! The wind is gusting to around 50 mph, so I decided that I'd rather pick splinters put of the carpet than blow all over the place! Going to the local Hastings store in a bit, which is closing, to see if I can find anything good to bring home. Garlic and shallots are ready to plant, just need to pick up some onions and all the brassicas. I know I will have a tough time resisting all the chicks, ducklings, goslings, keets, but I'm not bringing them home yet. Been there, done that.....and ended up with birds sliced and diced in the fence, too sad for me........There is a chance of nasty weather blowing in tomorrow night, which means tons-o-mud, at the least, so I'd really like to get some things done today!

@ Pirhan: Glad to see that Bachelor of Science-----then what? Good luck on the househunting!

@ Dragon: Do you spray the lemon trees with anything? Like dormant-oil spray, to keep the bugs at bay?

Today I found out how music affects psychology and health, its very significant though small effects for health, and high for psych/emotion.

For depressed people they tend to have hyper music better, for stressed people relaxing music, stuff like metal and rap and screamo just cause stress on the body.

And it can influence peoples decisions, like rap promoting crime.

Today, I finally finished my first attempt at loom knitting. It was all e-wrapped but I think it came out fairly decent. The little patch of our backyard that gets some sun finally has a few sprouts of crocus and the front has Tiger Lilies starting to pop out of the ground.

@ Pirhan - Good luck with your house hunting. It's a stressful process but so worth it when you find a place that just feels right.

@Sunset - I love raised bed gardens, though the last time I'd thought I'd gotten all the wood out of the carpet I got a nice, fat splinter in my foot - be careful!

@ Dragon - What kind of insects were pestering your tree?
