Nathan was laying on his bed, just thinking about stuff; Derrik, Annora and John, the twins, his AIDS, Mason's injury, Arnold's injury, all the rest of his friends, and his family he was going to see. After a good hour, he began to fall asleep. On the edge between sleep and consciousness, Derrik walked in and sent Nathan back a good 200 miles from that very cliff. Nathan jumped to attention (not just his body), and gave Derrik a sexy grin as he pulled him down on top of him and kissed him tenderly, but with vigarous passion. Nathan pulled out of the kiss, panting. He smirked. "Derrik, I love you. I want you to know that. I always will. I want you to know that." Nathan smiled and kissed him softly again.

"I know it. I believe it. I do not think I will ever get tired of hearing it. I just do not think I really understand it." Derrik kisses Nathan and again plays with his hair. He removes his glasses deciding that having Nathan a little blurry was still better than having the things in the way. "I never expected this of you. I never saw this coming. No matter how many times I run my brain in circles, I cannot remember you showing any more interest in me than in the others. When did you know?" Nathan's love both fascinated and confused him. How could anyone fall so suddenly in love? Was it not sudden at all? How long had Derrik simply... not noticed? He had always thought himself observant, but it would seem he had overestimated himself in that area. Nathan loved him, Derrik wanted to believe that and so he did, but for the life of him he could remember no sign of anything more than friendship before the day he moved in.

Nathan thought for a second. Then, it came to him. "Well, back in freshman year, when I found out I was gay, I grew a crush on you, John, and Eddie. Then, Annora started dating John, and I lost intrest in him. And After a while, Eddie just started to drift away from my crush list. But, you didn't. I've had a crush on you since freshman year of highschool. And I always loved you like a brother, but then, after I came back, I just so you and my heart almost lept out of my chest!" Nathan chuckled a bit. "I felt really, really, hot and horny and shy and sexy and cared for and loved and scared when I first saw you. I stil feel it even now." Nathan blushed. Revealing emotions to a person was easy to do and say in words, but two their face was a little harder, and when it was such tender. Nathan kissed Derrik. "You make me feel safe and in control. You make me feel like I can be who I am and no one can do a thing about it. I feel like I can be myself around you. I feel like I can tell you anything and want to tell you everything." Nathan sighed and looked at the wall. "I don't know when I started loving you. The point is, is that I do love you, Derrik. Thats all that matters." Nathan kissed him again.

Mason layed back against the headboard nd sighed. "I guess. I mean, it didn't even seem all that important to Derrik, so why should we be any more concerned than he is?" She paused for a moment, letting this sink in a bit, then changed the subject. "Where is Arne? Have you seen him lately?" She asked, seemingly out of pure curiosity.

Colleen nodded with a quiet grunt of affirmation. When questioned about Arne, she leaned back slightly and tilted her head to the right. "I actually have no idea. I haven't seen him, I think, since that time he was under the table."

Mason shuddered. "That was not a fun night. And I felt rediculous for screaming like that." Mason smiled, trying to put a lighter note on their conversation. Then she began thinking about where Arnold could be. It seemed like no one knew where he had been for a long time. "The last I heard from him, I think he was in his room. Other than that, I'm at a loss."
Mason searched around the room for more conversation, trying to turn it around. She wasn't very good at holding conversation. In fact, she seemed very random at times because she keeps a lot of her facts in her head, speaking out at odd times. For instance, the conversation could be about school, and school will remind her about books, books remind her about a movie, a movie about a television show, the show about football games, and she will start talking aloud about her favorite football team, and leave others flabbergasted and still thinking about school.
Finally, Mason decided on a topic of conversation. "I need my cell phone charger, so I can call and text people tonight. For certain, none of you are staying here. You'd just be miserable and uncomfortable." Mason was firm, not letting the suggestion come into play. "Anyway, whoever is still at the house and willing to bring that, it would be nice Would you mind calling someone?"

Colleen gave a soft chuckle at the memory, having found that aspect of the scene actually somewhat entertaining. Opting to just stare blankly at the ceiling during the silence - which she actually found somewhat comfortable -, her eyebrow shot upward in a startled manner when Mason spoke again. She nearly frowned though, having planned on atleast keeping the girl company. Hospitals always were rather dull. Brushing it off, Colleen nodded. "Sure." Retrieving her rather old phone, she took a few moments to think who'd be at the house. Shrugging, she knew that Derrik was home. Besides, his and Annora's were the only numbers she had. Dialing Derrik's number, she raised the phone to her right ear and hope that she wasn't interrupting anything.

How was it that Derrik actually felt sheepish about Nathan's words? He refused to make it obvious, but it was true. The things Nathan said about him, about how he made Nathan feel, were concepts Derrik had never allowed himself to consider. Derrik had heard the word love many, many times but a guy like him did not ask what it meant. It was enough of a stretch for him to believe in it at all. He certainly had never thought to seek it out. Before Nathan, he was completely convinced he wasn't exactly lovable either. Derrik was still digesting all of this when his phone rang from the other room where he had left it. "Goddamnit..." Derrik always answered his phone. Derrik was dependable and always available. That was what he was good for. Damn it all to Hell. Well, exceptions were made every day. "I am not going to answer that, so I hope nothing exploded."

Not getting an answer, Colleen shrugged and placed her phone back in her pocket. Oh well. Straightening her posture, she began to make her way toward the door but halted with her hand gripping the handle. "I'll just go and pick it up for you right quick." Without another word, she exited. After hopping on her Ducati, she made the considerably short trek home in a matter of minutes. Without really communicating with anyone who might've seen her entering, she entered Mason's room and found the phone charger plugged into the wall. Snatching it up, she exited in the same manner she entered and quickly made her way back to the hospital. Without bothering to knock since it hadn't been alot of time that passed, she entered the room and stood in front of the bed with her right arm extended with the charger in hand.

Mason was about to tell Colleen not to worry, but then she was out the door. She smiled at the thought of her friend being so helpful. She stood up and stretched, then called the nurse in for something to eat. By the time Colleen came back, there was a tray of various fruits by the bedside table. "Hey, thanks! Here, have something to eat." She took the charger gratefully and pointed to the tray. She plugged in her phone and the charger in a free outlet and turned it on. She scrolled through the list of names until all the ones beginning with "Prof." showed upand began calling the each in turn, explaining her absence the next day.

Colleen's eyebrows shot upward as she was reminded of some forgotten hunger. After moving to stand next to Mason's bedside table, she grinned smile appreciately and took a pear. "Thanks." Ah, pears. I haven't had any for years. An almost blissful smile crept upon her lips as she decided to just stare off into space while she almost lethargically ate the fruit.

"Well, good. 'Cause I don't want you to leave." Nathan rose his head to meet Derrik's lips in a a kiss full of fire and passion. It was the best kiss Nathan had ever had. It made him hot all over, like lava was filling veins, especially around his groin. His lips were temperarly bruised from the kiss and he was panting, hard. He smiled at Derrik; his face brightened greatly. "Wow. That-that was amazing, Derrik." He wrapped his arms around his neck and pulled him down into a tight hug. Nathan loved the feel of Derrik's skin and body heat and breath on himself. He loved to just hold hands with him. He didn't even feel this way with his "infector." He hadn't felt this way about anyone. Was Derrik the one? Was Derrik the person he wanted to spend his life with? Nathan pushed the thought to the back of his mind. He knew it was way too early to tell. The had only been dating for about a week now. A question of marriage was atleast six weeks off, but he wouldn't ask by then. No, Nathan would wait until he knew, until he deffinantly knew. Nathan yawned. "Let's go to bed. I'm tired and we have a full day tomorrow. Will you sleep with me?" Nathan asked as he lowered himself again to look at Derrik. He gave him a cutesy, pleading look that was just naturally Nathan. I won't ask him, not now, not soon. But, I'll ask him someday. Someday.

"Of course I will. Every night. Just try to get rid of me." Derrik spoke a little breathlessly. He swore his lips still tingled from the kiss he had just shared with Nathan. He was not at all certain he could just fall asleep after a kiss like that. Every nerve in his body, every wire in his brain, was lit afire. He was so aware of Nathan's body close to his that he practically ached for it. Of course, that reaction had been building up since he first walked into the room and Nathan kissed him. Who cared what they had to do tomorrow, damnit? Derrik cared, because Nathan cared. Derrik got out of his clothes then settled into bed with Nathan, holding him close. He could not resist planting little kisses over Nathan's face, neck and shoulders; any bit of skin his lips could reach. What had gotten into him? Affection did not come naturally to him, or so he had thought. Perhaps it only needed for him to care about the one he held in his arms? He'd never had feelings for anyone he'd slept with before; he made a point of never letting his relationships get serious. Even with Nathan, when he had first dared to kiss him in the pool house, Derrik had not thought beyond a few nights of passion. A friend with benefits, one who likely had as much cause to stay secret as he had. Instead he found himself confronting a depth of emotion that would not allow him to just walk away and continue not to care. Not with Nathan, someone who he would actually give a damn about hurting. He couldn't walk away from Nathan and didn't want to. It was both wonderful and terrifying. Wonderful to be loved, to feel and experience what he did with Nathan. And terrifying to know that somehow, without his permission, Nathan had seized even more power over Derrik than he'd already had as one of his only friends. Derrik pondered so long and hard about these things that he thought for sure Nathan must be asleep. his heart skipped a beat, then thumped louder as he moistened lips with tongue and parted them to speak in a low voice. "I think I do love you. God knows part of me wants to." Even though he thought, and honestly hoped, Nathan could not hear him it still made Derrik nervous to speak that way. Why? He'd had no horrible experience with dating in the past; picking up guys in clubs certainly did not count as dating at all. Just why was he so afraid to be in love? Even though lying here next to Nathan he wanted to be in love more than anything.

Nathan giggled and slipped his clothes off carefully before he layed down with Derrik. He began to drift to sleep to the feeling of Derrik kissing his face and neck. It tickled him a bit, but not enough for him to laugh hystarically, just to make him smile. Nathan was nearly completely asleep when he heard the most beautiful thing he had ever heard. "I think I do love you. God knows part of me wants to." Nathan thought it was so unbelieveable that he just took it as a dream and slowely let himself drift into a deep slumber in Derrik's arms, close to his heated body.
Nathan was laying in a wide bed asleep. He woke to the sound of laughter in the distance. He sat up and looked around. This isn't my room. This isn't my house. Where am I? Nathan looked out the windows to his right. It was bright and sunny out; a very beautiful day. He pulled the covers off of him and slipped out of his bed. He scanned the room. It was amazing. The walls were an olive green, two dark brown dressers were lined up perfectly with the walls, a rocking chair sat in the corner of the room, and infront of the big king sized bed was a coffee table with a T.V. set ontop and a a dark ebony chest at the foot. It was Nathan's dream room. He always wanted his room to be this way when he was older. The dresser in the far corner had a mirror on it. Nathan saw himself in the mirror. He was older. He looked around late twenties, early thirties. He gocked at his reflection. What the hell is going on? There was a pin up calendar next to the mirror. It was August 23, 2021. I'm thirty-one?! What happened to me?! The laught that woke Nathan interrupted his thoughts again. He ventured out of the room and down a flight of stairs to what seem to be a living room, or a recreation room; Nathan could never tell the difference. A man was wrestling with a what seemed to be a 9 year old boy. The man looked familiar. He saw Nathan and smiled. He got up off the ground and kissed Nathan. "Good morning, sweetheart." Then, it hit him. The man was Derrik. Nathan tried to speak, but he layed his finger on his lips. "Don't say a word. Breakfast is already made and Joshua is already dressed and ready for daycare. Everything's set, ready, and perfect." Derrik kissed Nathan again and the boy ran up to Nathan. "Daddy, Daddy! Me and Papa were wrestling and he grabbed me and picked me up, but I bit his arm and he dropped me and I pinned him! I pinned Papa!" The boy jumped at Nathan, who caught him and picked him up. The boy wrapped his arms around his neck and layed his head on his shoulder. "I love you, Daddy." Nathan turned to Derrik. Awe covered Nathan's face, but Derrik didn't seem to mind. "I love you, too," he said as he kissed him even more tenderly than before.
Nathan's eyes fluttered open and he yawned quietly. He was still pressed against Derrik's body, his head against his chest. He kissed it softly and began drifting to sleep. "I love you, too."
